First time at Americanos. Not crowded for a Thursday afternoon at five. Greeted by two of the staff. Friendly and polite. We talked long with the bartender and a young man that worked there. Order a few drinks and talked with these two guys for fifteen minutes or so off and on before we even ordered anything. Just felt right, small conversation great atmosphere. We each ordered the three taco plate. I had one fish taco, one elote taco and one Arrachera taco. My wife hard three pork belly tacos. Hard to say which was out favorite because they were all equally as delicious and bursting with flavor from the fresh ingredients. Just had an amazing time at Americanos! The GM and bartender were both so nice! We had reservations and were greeted by the door by the GM. The vibe was very comfy, not too upscale- think "chillaxed" vibes. I came with 2 girlfriends and we each had a different type of margarita. I got a pitcher of the cucumber margaritas and it was my first time having a cucumber margarita, and it DID NOT disappoint! Very might recommend! The bartender, Sean/Shawn was amazing! I also got to try their seasonal blood orange margarita, which was also delicious! We had the flautas appetizer and for my entree, I ordered the chorizo taco and the pork belly taco. I didn't even make it to the pork belly taco because I was full off the flauta and chorizo taco lol. The hot sauces that they bring to your table in the squirt bottles were bomb dot com!! Spicy enough for some "flava" but not burn your bottle hole spicy. Overall, I highly recommend this establishment for the vibes (I requested they play Bad Bunny and they obliged- zero questions asked and no pushback) and the food! I've been curious about the place--I think they opened in the last year. It's pretty good and I'm really looking forward to visiting the full restaurant. They had a truck outside the restaurant for the Pack the Highway event and had more on their menu than I would have expected but it of course was not their full menu (though the restaurant was open as well). I got a cheese quesadilla and some elote for us to share and it was good. The quesadilla came with a little bit of a peppery dip, which was really good. I haven't had that with a quesadilla before but I think my little one enjoyed it too (she's in a dip phase right now). The elote was really good as well and was even better when I squirted a bit of lime on. They have a parking lot and there's lots of parking along Northwest Highway and surrounding areas (but also some permit only parking since the Metra station is a block and a half away). Well it was not what I had expected but that's not to say someone else may rate higher. The food was ok - we are picky so we asked for like sour cream and some spicy sauce in the side. Asked twice and never received. The Air conditioning was not on and it was our first day in the 80's so wasn't to uncomfortable just wasn't what we were looking for. They brought out grilled cheese when we asked for a kids cheese quesadilla . I have to say though that the kids grilled cheese looked good! The chicken taco was bland but the steak taco and the pork taco was great. My son had shrimp tacos and the shrimp looked good. Our appetizer came out lukewarm and there was some confusion on whether we needed tortillas. Went for cinco de mayo - Great crowd! Good music . We had 3 different margaritas: classic , mango & Cadillac . All were so good . The margaritas are flavorful . You can tell they are fresh squeezed mixes . We had 2 taco dinners with different tacos , Al pastor , steak , chicken , shrimp . Each one was very tasty . I've been to this place twice. The first time I went I felt like the food was good, but the place was extremely loud. The ambience really could use some sound absorption because a lot of people like to go and it's like a screaming Match to have a conversation... Add kids and good luck. Otherwise, I really liked the place, I liked the atmosphere and life was good. The second time around was about as disappointing as it could be. First off I wanna start with the compliment. The brussel sprout ensalada was absolutely fantastic. I thought that my girl really ordered right. The Brussel sprouts were warm and went well with the dressing. I loved it and wished that I had ordered it. Now we go to my order where I got three tacos: chicken, fish and pork. The pork was so dry that I literally could take a shred of it and hit the plate and it clinked. Something that something was wrong, one of the owners asked me if everything was OK. I told him I need to send this back and he was very gracious about it to be fair. He came back with the brisket taco on my request and it was so greasy that if I turned it even 15°, grease came pouring on my plate. Besides that, it wasn't even seasoned well. Then there was my fish taco which, I kid you not was a fish stick on a tortilla! No! I have never had a fish taco in my life like that. The whole meal was a bust. Now, to be fair, the waiter warned me that the brisket was a little greasy, and the pork was a little dry... But I had no idea the understatement that he was making. Also, I got one refill during the hour and a half. I was there and my girl loves to drink Diet Coke. I had to empty half of my Diet Coke twice just to keep her filled while the waiter was walking around and as we were walking out the door, I saw him pick up his phone and start to have a conversation with another 35 people still in the restaurant and him being the only waiter. The kindness of the owner and the Warning of the waiter and my previous experience as well as the brussels sprout salad is the reason why they got three stars. But if it was based on my dish alone, and it was my first experience? Absolutely not. That'd be one star. And the best part is... Three tacos, one brussels sprout salad and two Diet Coke's sent me back $54. Unbelievable. I might come back for that salad, but with the other food offerings in the area, you're better off going to Don Juan's up the road. read more

We also ordered margaritas. They ordered the classic margaritas and I ordered the grilled pineapple margarita Fresca. They were all very weak. My girlfriends finished a whole pitcher without even feeling a buzz. They were tasty but not very much alcohol. For dinner I ordered the taco dinner. My tacos were carne asada, Al pastor, and shrimp. I opted for double rice instead of rice and beans. The carne asada was average. Al pastor had a nice kick to it and shrimp was good. The rice was not good at all, no taste to it. My family and I went here on opening night. It was 615pm on a Tuesday and we were seated right away. It's a narrow, but long restaurant. High tops in the front with bar seats and low tops in the back. We sat in one of the low tops and menus were provided. There was a kids menu as well, which was nice. We started with drinks: I had the original margarita and my husband had one with Mezcal. I like that you can choose to have salt, Tajin, or sugar on the rim. We opted for the Tajin . The drinks earned their $12 price tag. It's Taco Tuesday so we had to get tacos. We both ordered the 3 taco dinner for 17. I had the first three tacos on their list: steak, brisket, and chicken. Have tried this place a few times, once in the restaurant, but mostly carry out. If you eat in the restaurant, things go rarely well. The food is good and so are the cocktails. However, it would be nice if they had frozen margaritas in addition to the regular ones. It's the carry out that really needs improvement. You can't call in your order to verbalize that you want items not on your taco and add extras. Any changes you want to make you have to make on their ordering online app. This really needs work. First there's nowhere to tell them you want items not added or if you want slices of avocado added and not guacamole. If you don't want any sauce on the tacos and they feature a sauce, the put it on the tacos anyway. I ordered last night shrimp tacos and they added it and ruined them. If they miss anything on the order and you try to call them to let them know. The phone rings off the hook and no one answers. I ordered chips and guacamole on one of my orders and they didn't include it and I ended up getting nothing and no credit towards my next order. I would like to give them more business since I live so close, but that is not going to happen when they do business like this. If I could give them a zero, I would.
