So sorry to write this. Place is very nicely decorated, servers attentive, bread good but food just ok. Ordered linguine with seafood but noodles super soft and seafood had no taste. Soup in small dish and salty. Wife ordered chicken and pasta once again noodles soft, everything mushy. Do they have noodles pre made and microwave? I love the idea of old school neighborhood Italian but if you are going to charge $15-25 for pasta it should be better than what you make at home. read more

I brought my family here on Saturday evening and was greeted by a hostess who we informed we would prefer to sit outside and she proceeded to take us outside. Well, tables outside were mostly taken up but they found a table for us that was extremely wobbly and was not conducive to eating on, so we asked if it was ok to sit inside. She then seated us inside. My family and I sat at the table while a busboy? Brought us bread and water. Which we consumed entirely because we sat at the table for 25 minutes without being approached by our waiter once. I then walked up to the hostess who sat us and informed her we still had not been seen yet and she informed the waiter. I did see a waiter who was helping other tables in our area but did not see ours because another 8-10 minutes had passed and still our waiter did not come to our table. My wife and I just decided to leave as we clearly were not wanted there or were not treated as if we were. We began to leave and I went to the hostess and asked to speak to a manager. It was at this moment that our waiter finally decided to make an appearance. The waiter in our area and this waiter were the same person. I saw him on multiple occasions visit other tables and even went to an empty table to write some stuff down AFTER we told the hostess about us not being seen. Then another waiter tried to resolve the issue and he was very apologetic and kind and offered us a discount if we stayed but it was too late at that point. Then when we advised him we would not be taking the discount but thanks anyways, we began to leave when we overheard the manager tell him it was ok and not to worry about it. Now, I work in service as well, but I would never condone or say it was ok for a client to be treated as poorly as we would. That is something that is not ok and needs to be addressed. Now I am also sure that this situation with out waiter and maybe a lack of communication was to be addressed, or at least I hope it would. But never should your reaction to a situation such as this be displayed in front of the clients. Terribly disturbed by what transpired here and was looking for a nice dinner with my family that happened somewhere else. read more

From the time our party was seated we were bum rushed out of here. The server finally had to be told to take a walk and give us a minute because she kept being a pest about getting our order in. I have never felt so rushed in an establishment ever. The lasagna was ok. Not even hot, mediocre at best. The rigatoni chicken Marsala looked dried out and also was not hot. The chicken vesuvio looked like a child's portion smothered in garlic. I could not tell you about desserts or coffee because as soon as we put our forks down, she dropped the check without ever offering the up sell. This place used to be pretty ok, not any more. Colletti's is a nice family restaurant, but it's food is hit or miss. Been here numerous times. Some nights it's great, other's it is not. The service is always good, and they are very accomodating. They're close by, and reasonable. If a friend wants to grab a bite, I'll come here, but if I'm looking for more traditional italian, I tend to look elsewhere. read more

This was my first visit to Colletti's for my book club holiday party. They had a wide variety of items to choose from...not only Italian but American too. At the server's suggestion, I had the trout dinner and enjoyed it from start to finish. As a side, I selected the pasta oglio, and enjoyed that as well as the salad and vegetables. After seeing the parking lot packed night-after-night, I decided to give this neighborhood "hot-spot" a try. Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the worst service, food, and overall dining experience I've had. Hearing so much about their "award-winning ribs", I just had to try. I will admit, I've been spoiled being in such close proximity to Gale St., but hey, awards don't lie right? My date had the lobster tail. Both were so overcooked they were barely edible. When I voiced my displeasure to our waitress she ran and brought over the owner and general mgr. I advised that our meals were unsatisfactory and for the price points I'd like it cooked properly. Apparently I must have offended the owner because nothing over/under cooked could come out of his kitchen. I really didn't think our request was such a big deal, but he reached down to his inner tough guy and went on this rant about how his ribs were "award winning" and that Gale St. couldn't hold a candle to them - ridiculous. Now this is an assumption, but our waitress did pull the owner who was sitting and having a drink (I don't know what was in it), but I can't help but to dismiss his behavior with the possibility that he was intoxicated. We laugh about the incident now, most notably how we were so speechless to even respond to this guy, but it's actually quite scary ugly he got. Colletti's = 0 stars if it were an option. read more

We've lived in the neighborhood for over 25 years and have been numerous times over the years; however, we had not been here in a couple of years and probably will not go again. Our fish entrees were very good. However, they seated us (without asking) in the bar area where we had to listen to a loudmouth drunk sitting at the bar through our entire meal. The salad was drowning in mediocre "Italian" dressing. The broccoli, although tasty, was so al dente I could barely cut it. Our tab was $81 and change; I gave the server 5 $20s and she said she would bring us change but never did. We finally got tired of waiting and left. I wasn't going to make a scene over a couple of dollars, but neither the meal nor the service was worth a 25% tip. read more

Very disappointed. We made reservation for a pre wedding dinner there and requested the dining room. There were only 6 of us to include the future bride and groom. Instead they seated us in the bar area. We explained we had confirmed that we would be seated in the dining room but there was no interest in our concerns. The bar was very loud. Ridiculously long wait. Our hour dinner turned into 3 hours. We arrived with our party to find out our reserved table was given away to a walk in. After waiting for 30 minutes for our table we were finally seated. We put our order in after 15 minutes and after waiting and asking our waitress where the food was at it finally came after 2 and a half hours. The only positive thing was that our waitress was very nice and tried her best to help us even though there was nothing she could do. One of my closest girlfriends had her engagement party here. It's a bit out of the city, but the staff was very nice and the food was good-ish (typical banquet hall food). Our bartender was fantastic. He was charming and poured very strong drinks. They skimp on lime wedges though... so make sure you ask for extra. I was tanked by the time we got through appetizers. The calamari was a little rubbery, but the sausage/pepper kabobs were very good. Skip the dinner salad, unless you're into finely chopped iceberg lettuce. The roasted chicken was fantastic though. I had a bite of my friend's lasagna... it was deelicious! The steamed vegetables were buttery and good too. the dessert tray was eh. The cream puffs were made with whipped cream, which was a disappointment. I didn't bother with the other dessert. My friend gobbled up the mini cannolis. He said they were fantastic. I really liked their roasted chicken. And I don't eat chicken very often. read more

The hostess seemed to have given away the patio spot, but a senior waitress, another experienced hostess, and the original hostess quickly acted to create a space for our party, without excuses to us or with rancor with each other. I have such a LOVE =HATE relationship with Collettis. I have been eating their food for over 25 years and have seen this place go thru so many changes. We almost always get takeout for 2 reasons.. the first is that the service here is the PITS !!! It's never consistent, the staff is nowhere to be found when you want a refill or something else to enhance your order. I've seen more waitresses chatting amongst themselves vs. waiting on tables, I've also never had consistent service when I've eaten here. The second is that the prices are just too expensive to dine there. In the last few years the prices have continued to go up and the portions are smaller. I don't mind paying if there's "value" but I don't see any value here in either the service or the food portions. A friend of mine works down the street in an office and said they were here last week for lunch and it was $40 for 2 of them. Who can afford to spend that kind of money on lunch ??? This is a working middle class area---not Rosemont or downtown where people can afford those prices. This summer we decided to bite the bullet and try out the patio--what a disaster this was. We ordered 10inch pizzas---they came out with steak knives---no spatula. I looked at my friends and we just shook our head. Also the smoking on the patio was really annoying, were not smokers and I will not go back there because of the smoking. I'm not sure if their patio falls under the same regulations as the dining room for the city smoking ordinance. I would think they might want to look into that. I do want to stress that the food here is 8 out of 10 times good. However sometimes it's just "off"---I LOVE their tomato sauce on their pasta, but the last 2 times it's been different not rich and red. I also LOVE their minestrone soup--if you're a soup person they have the best hands down of any Italian restaurant in the Chicago land area. I also LOVE their pizza---however here again it's not consistent, some days it's burnt, others it's under cooked, however that darn sauce and paper thin crust just keeps me coming back for more. It makes me sad that this place keeps missing it. No matter how good the food it's the high prices and service that will kill your business. read more

The bf took me here because he got a deal from Buyzooka. I did my homework and read the Yelp reviews on the way to dinner and I completely agree with everyone's underwhelmed sentiments. Food tasted ok. Too expensive for its substandard quality, but again we got a decent portion off the tab thanks to that Buyzooka coupon so it worked out. I thought the service at least was going to be stellar after reading people's reviews, but unfortunately we must've caught the one waitress that just wasn't having a good night (or maybe not having a good career, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt). She didn't give attitude or anything like that, but she seemed a bit distracted and inattentive. She gave me the wrong soup, pretty much didn't visit our table after giving us our food until we were done. We were pretty much sitting there all thirsty because she didn't come by once to refill our glasses and it wasn't exactly a busy night with full tables. Lastly, she didn't know how to properly apply the coupon to our meal... Seriously? All in all, a rather "eh" experience. As my bf and I discussed, unless you grew up eating here, you're probably not gonna be coming back. My wife wanted to go here with the kids for pizza which she thought was real good and it was my sisters favorite when she lived in Chicago. We ordered an 18" 1/2 cheese and 1/2 sausage, mushroom , and green pepper pizza. It looked good but after 2 pieces it was one of the saltiest pizzas I have ever had. Unless you want to eat grandma's 3 day leftovers don't bother dining at this place. My first experience was not exactly the best. I had a grilled fish with veggie platter, how hard is that? I felt like I was eating leftovers which is the worst feeling when dining out. The fact that I even had to pay for these "leftovers" made me feel even worse. I recently attended a after funeral luncheon, and the food and service was phenomenal. That is what prompted my family to try the restaurant again. Ugh. Bad decision. My husband ordered a chicken dish that tasted like it was pulled from yesterday's menu, potatoes were cold. As a family, we are not able to enjoy dinners out as much as we would like , and I am so disappointed we all left hungry. This is Chicago! In less than a mile there stands Pasta D'arte in Norwood park on Milwaukee Ave and mia figlia in edgebrook on devon they will deliver fabulous food and servers who know their kitchen! Don't bother-overpriced and boring. The best part of the $32 per person Easter buffet was the busboy who was fantastic about keeping our water filled. The food was dried out, the selection was limited and the end of the buffet led you to a wall! I was like, "Where do I go know?" The buffet was located in another room and no one told us where to go. We have tried this place twice before and this was the last strike. I have been here countless times. The only the that I have had on the menu that is consistently good is rhe Shrimp Louie salad. The burgers are tasteless slabs of some brown meat product. I post this one star with sadness. I live in Jeff Park and support local businesses. We need them. Went here the day before Mother's Day with family, including young kids and elderly. Got there at 3 pm. Waitress asked us 7 times if we wanted 'drinks'. Did not take order for a long time. Any time we said no to the drinks, she returned to ask us about drinks again, but no order taken. Asked us after about 10 minutes for appetizers. We gave our order for everything about 3:15pm. We had a show at 5pm and figured we'd have more than enough time from 3pm-4:30pm for a nice relaxed meal. At 3:30pm we get appetizers. Waiting waiting waiting waiting....no food. Kids beginning to cry, elderly family begin to complain that they are hungry..... turmoil. Grab the waitress and at 4 pm she informs us that she did not put in our main order because we didn't tell her to....Our perception is that a server should ask when people want their food... We got meals at 4:20pm. One of the meals was overcooked and had to be sent back. Were told it would be 5 minutes. It was 20 minutes. As soon as it arrived, member had to take a very expensive steak 'to go' and was unable to eat at all that day. Ruined our gathering, made us late for our event, some people didn't get to eat, kids upset & adults upset, no offer for not even a complimentary dessert, or discount or anything. Called later to speak to Rick Colletti. Was told he was busy. Left a message. Today is 5 days later and no return call. If this is the way this restaurant attends to its locals, it will end up closing. read more

Sitting here for forty minutes waiting for more ice water. Waited twenty minutes for our drinks, and our soup and salad arrived before our appetizer. My country fried chicken came burnt, and our pasta came with almost no sauce. Honestly the service, and food were awful. We watched one server sit with patrons the entire time. We did have a very nice server, but she was not attentive at all. We even watched another server walk towards us with water, and stopped two feet from our table then turned around and filled all her tables water. Wanted to go to a local place to celebrate my Wife's birthday and someone suggested Colletti's. I knew they were doing work to improve the outdated look of the restaurant so we wanted to check out the new renovations. Overall, the place looks really good and we were excited about dinner. We ordered apps, cheese sticks tasted good but the calamari was lacking flavor and for the price you don't get much for your money. The entrées came and for the most part everyone enjoyed their food, the ribs were so-so, the chicken angelina was good as was the pot roast. My wife ordered the strip steak and only ended up eating a ¼ of the steak as it was too tough. Our waitress offered to replace the dish but everyone had already finished their meals. We did not want to wait for another steak to be served after everyone was done. The Manager chose not to take it off the bill nor did he come to the table to ask what was wrong. We were charged for a dinner which was not enjoyed. Not good customer service and unfortunately we will not recommend Colletti's based on our experience. Such a shame because we were there to celebrate a big birthday dinner with four families. Go to Colletti's for the new look but do not get the steaks. read more
