I finally stopped in and checked it out. At first glance I could not tell what I was w going to walk into. I parked next to her truck, since it said no drive thru on a sign nearby. I walked inside with my kiddos, and met Fern. She was elbow deep in dirt planting. I loved seeing her do her craft. She took time to talk to me. I have been on the hunt for a very easy plant that does not require sun. She helped me out. We headed outside to find so many stunning flowers and plants. I came across red bee balm. I have never seen that before. The price was perfect, $9! So I bought 2, and another perennial flower. In all it was the best $32 I spent! Fern helps it other businesses with their plant needs as well. She even has some education under her belt, she is a wealth of knowledge.

A 5 star experience for a recent Mother's Day arrangement of flowers…read more There is no day like Mother's Day and making it special for Mom. So the idea of a permanent planted arrangement seemed like something perfect for the patio. McDonald's was contacted over the phone a week + out before Mother's Day. I worked with Patrice who emailed different ideas they could do from pots to plants etc. He was so passionate about his trade and left me even more excited that he alone would be the point. Ultimately hydrangeas was chosen as the plant with sweet potatoes. They had many pots to choose from, but a more neutral with a butterfly seemed perfect. The cost was $97. Patrice assured that the plant would be watered and ready for pick up days before Mother's Day. On Saturday I went to McDonald's and after locating Patrice he rolled the plant out. I must say I was overwhelmed with the size. It was huge and gorgeous! Patrice did a video of care instructions as he took ownership of seeing everything through. He also at no charge through in a ceramic tray to hep with transport, but also for any leakage of water with a weep hole at the bottom. The delivery was marvelous and enjoyed by Mom. I cannot say enough positive about this experience. Other staff assisted me and were helpful and enthusiastic about their job. You just don't see this in other big box places ole Lowes and Home Depot. McDonald's is a one stop locally owned since 1947 garden center. They can do it all and the visit is impressive to see the selections. Highly recommend.

Or they just brush past you as they did today as you struggle to find what you come in there to spend your hard-earned money on. Today I was looking for mouse traps. If it wasn't such a drive, I would go to Lowe's. If I'm going to have to search for something I might as well pay less for it. This is why people shop online. Brick and mortar businesses need to wake up. At this point you're nothing more than convenience stores for whatever items you sell. Customer service and location are the last things you have going for you. This is sad for me to write because I grew up in a family hardware store where the expectation was to greet your customers, always help customers find what they need, and ensure that they have a good experience while in your business.

Tucked away near the Ghent area near, Nine Twenty-Two delivers in aesthetics, plant selection and more. Considered a lifestyle shop, Nine Twenty-Two also had a great selection of natural candles and incenses, small gifts such as cards and mugs, skin/body care, flower bar and even boutique style dresses and the cutest fitting room. Needless to say I went in for one thing and left with a bag full of goodies I couldnt wait to try. I will definitely be back soon!

There are those days when you just want to get flowers for the person you care about...then realize…read moreyou're living in Norfolk and you have never seen a florist shop here. Luckily (in my case) I took a chance and stepped into Sunflower Florist last last Valentine's day and anniversary and got exactly what I was looking for! What's even better was that I didn't pay my life-savings for a dozen roses! Even on Valentine's day, I paid around $10 for a dozen, long-stem roses and I couldn't have been happier! Of course, like any florist shop, they have packages with stuffed animals, balloons, vases, exotic flower, etc etc, that will cost you upwards of 70-80 bucks, but if you just want some basic stuff like me, then it's your place! When I've gone in, I need to knock and have them buzz me in which I thought was a little strange (but I guess flowers are a hot commodity?) and the shop was definitely small (which might be an understatement). Also, I did see some less-than-perfect flowers around which is always a little disconcerting. However, the people that helped me were so incredibly nice and friendly and assured me that they would pick out the best flowers for me and make it look great (which they did!). Overall, I would recommend this place if you need some flowers in the Ghent area. As with any flower shop, you probably want to go pick out the flowers yourself to make sure you know what you're paying for, but it was exactly what I was looking for and I plan to go back next February 14th!

I spoke with Justin at Sunflower Florist while inquiring about wedding day floral arrangements…read more During our consultation call, Justin was very helpful and broke down the costs of each of the arrangements my fiancé and I wanted. I let him know our budget of $600 for flowers and over the phone he estimated that what we wanted would likely come out to just over 1,000 with Sunflower Florist. Sunflower Florist was the first floral shop I reached out to and when I told Justin this, and he sensed my sticker shock, he told me to take some time to think on it and to reach out to other florists in the area to price compare. I was surprised that he advised the latter but really respected and appreciated his suggestion. As I researched other florists and thought more about what we wanted, Justin continued to check-in and follow up to see if we were still interested in having the shop do our wedding flowers. While, we ultimately accepted a kind offer from a coworker to arrange our flowers, we really appreciated Justin's follow-up and customer service.

Nobody offered what was shown on the typical FTD or Teleflora, it seemed. Only, I needed something special for my friend, who'd suddenly lost her husband. Arrangements offered by others weren't right for my artistic friend's elegantly designed and furnished home and tastes, nor the expression I'd hoped to achieve. THE NEW LEAF's, however, were phenomenal. I was blown away! Never had I seen such beautifully designed arrangements -- indeed, "beautiful floral designs" -- which is why I chose them. I selected "Soft Serenity" for the balanced trio of greens, lilac and whites, and balanced artful composition, too -- only to be sad seeing what'd arrived had substituted some yellow and other flowers. Uh-oh... Calling Dina with my disappointment, however, I was kindly offered either a refund or to send again. We worked closely to ensure that softly serene design I sought for comfort was replicated as closely as one can... I'm so glad I did! My friend was just over the moon with superlatives! While the first was nice, the second was absolutely Wonderful, she'd said. And just now on the phone she shared how the arrangement was simply Magnificent. "Wonderful" and "Magnificent" are pretty exceptional descriptors of their designs... All-in-all, a terrific value and experience. I've saved Dina's number for the next time I need something special for my friend in Virginia Beach.

At first visit, Sara and James were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. My vague wishes: "she likes low maintenance, maybe an orchid or an arrangement in the $75 range." She offered to create a fresh and unique arrangement in summer colors AND have an orchid dressed so I could choose; she even ok'd pickup outside of their normal hours. Turns out, I ended up needing it a day sooner...and they came through, calling to update me when needed. At pick-up, James said "I saw this peach double orchid and knew it was for your friend." That's personalized service at its finest!

I am so happy I found this awesome business! I am a huge fan or organic and am all for supporting…read morelocal businesses. Before my neighbor introduced to me The Neighborhood Harvest I was getting my greens and veggies from the local Food Lion or Krogers. It was difficult to find organic produce that wasn't already ready to go bad. The greens and veggies I get every week are SO FRESH and DELICIOUS! I typically get kale, cucumbers and a bag of the Green Machine blend which is perfect for my daily green smoothies! There hasn't been a time yet that the greens haven't been perfect, never wilted or smelly! We recently tried the fresh apple cider, it was SO GOOD! We just got a notice that they are having fresh cookies as well so we are definitely going to place an order for those as well! I especially love that I am assigned to my own Neighborhood Harvest representative who checks in with me periodically to make sure I am a happy customer. I get text messages of any particular deals they are having, last week they were having a deal on pears. I don't mind having to place my ice packs out in my cooler the night before and so far I've never had a problem with my deliveries. I definitely recommend investing your money in their fresh greens which is great for your health.
