First, let me say that I have been a patient of this practice for close to 15 years. Dr. Cobb was my original physician and I stayed because of him. He has now retired. The office staff has a lot to be desired. Many times they don't know what is going on with you (if you need an appointment - they don't know when, why -- if they have to reschedule your appointment, they don't know what you were scheduled for). I am one of the "lucky" (being facetious) people that own their own business and thus have been required to get Obamacare as that is all that is offered now. I was told by Collin County ENT I had to prove I paid my insurance premiums by pulling up my bank account online on my phone and showing them I paid the premium to Obamacare. I complied with this the first 2 times I went but thought and still think it ludicrous. So, I refused this time. The sweet lady at the front desk, Cassandra, feels uncomfortable even asking for it but that is the policy. She had to get a lady from accounting that told me it was policy. I explained I didn't care if it was policy and if I need to go to another office as a patient, then that's what I'd do. I explained I had been a patient for over 15 years and Dr. Cobb has done 4 surgeries and Dr. Carter had recently done a surgery on me...that I've never not paid and have never been a financial problem for them. I wasn't going to show my personal bank account to someone I don't know in order to prove I have paid my insurance premium. She decided to let me see the doctor. OH, how generous of her! There have been several issues with this office. The policies are ridiculous. I called after I had sinus surgery because I thought I had an infection and spoke with Dixie. She couldn't' find an appointment for me that wasn't a week or so out. So, I went to my primary care doctor instead. I was postop surgery and they couldn't fit me in with postop complications? Really?? I was in a lot of pain just prior to surgery. I asked for pain medication. I was given tramadol (or something like that). It made me sick. I called back to tell them and they said they couldn't help me because the laws just changed on pain medication. When I addressed the doctor about it, he explained you have to have a paper prescription for pain medication now. I told him my husband would have been more than happy to pick up pain medication for me...I was suffering horribly right before surgery. :Like I said above, I've been a patient for over 15 years...I go by my middle name. Even though I have corrected them on several occasions for addressing me by my first name, they still call me it. Then, they have changed their office computer system several times and each time you come in, you have to update more information. Information that should already be there because they've asked for the same information many times. I can see updating the information or asking if it's all the same but to have to fill in information that they should already know (like dates of birth). It is apparent to me the office manager of this practice is making decisions without realizing the impact. It might be a good idea for her to use her own policies and do the jobs of each employee to see the impact of those decisions with each patient. Needless to say, I would love to give this practice a 5 and I do think the doctors here are top notch, the office policies and procedures and definitely not even a 1, so I've evened it out at a 2. I do believe they have some good people like Cassandra and Dixie working there. I just think they have their hands tied and are following policies or procedures that they don't even like. read more
