Twin Brooks Park is a very beautiful and well maintained park. It has a nice paved walking/bike…read morepath with flowers and trees that bloom in spring and summer. There are a total of 5 ponds/lakes, two of which people sometimes fish at. There are swings (in very good condition) and a playground that is suitable for kids around age 4-13. In the winter Twin Brooks has easily the best sledding hill in a 10 mile radius. It's such a good sledding hill that it can actually be dangerous due to the sheer distance. With most sleds you don't have to worry but with high quality inner tubes you can generate a lot of speed. Sledding not your thing? No problem! There is also an extensive network of mountain biking/hiking trails in the woods to the north of the park. In fact you can mountain bike or hike from Beach Memorial Park all the way to Twin Brooks! Twin Brooks is beautiful in all 4 seasons, just don't forget your Trumbull parking pass. If you don't have one there is street parking on Franklin Street.

Putnam Park is one of my favorite parks in the area. The history and the scenery just do it for me…read more It's especially gorgeous during the Autumn months. The main trail is paved and easy for anyone to walk. There are also a ton of historical landmarks within the park grounds. Along with being the oldest state park in the Connecticut, Putnam Park is also designated as the first State Archaeological Preserve. It was the site of the winter encampment of the troops under General Israel Putnam (for whom the park is named). There are regular Revolutionary War reenactments hosted by The Friends and Neighbors of Putnam Park. Putnam Park is a nice quiet place on the Bethel/Redding line. I am very grateful to those who pushed to reopen it.

Beautiful visitor center and fascinating ride on our mountain bikes through the park. Arrived at the door of the adorable 1921 stone museum building and it was like Wally World in the movie vacation! CLOSED!!!!!! . Soooo disappointed! It's the main attraction! Omg! I couldn't believe it! Website did not mention anything about being closed other than a few days in a June!!!! . I would have given them five stars but when the museum is closed???? Not nice for visitors traveling a long way to see artifacts from the park. My advice is to call first. Apparently they don't feel it necessary to post on their website.

We logged four point three miles. And it took us about two and a half hours. My friend and I both felt the hike was invigorating.

Great trails close to home. The Falls Trail is pretty hard, rock scrambling most of the way along…read morethe water. But it's so pretty when you get there and then there's easier trails to go back. Parking is easy at the middle school across the street. My dog had a great time, although he's little so we had to carry him for the rock scrambling parts. There were dogs off leash despite the signs so just be wary if your dog doesn't do well with others or is nervous around big dogs. Trails are well marked and maintained. We used All Trails to connect one trail to another. Check for ticks! We found two on the dog in the car.

The farm is free to attend and roam around, and it's great for dates or hanging out with friends. There is extensive grounds and beautiful architecture. Their food was also really good--everything was organic and many items were grown right there on the farm! There were also free tea tastings when we went. Such a lovely way to spend a beautiful day.

It wasn't super busy when I went, but would suggest getting a free ticket online in advance just in case.

Just outside the nature center building are the birds of prey (owls and hawks) and inside they have snakes, fish, turtles and lizards. You will see birds, squirrels, chipmunks and ducks out on the hiking trails and pond. The nature center offers programs for toddlers through teens, with on-sight and off-sight programs. They offer summer camp, vacation week camps during the school year and holiday activities. The summer camp is a mix of outdoor activities, time with the animals and craft activities. Older children may choose to do a trip out on the pond with a canoe or a sleepover with a parent. Overall it is a great nature center, it is just a bit off the beaten path. No frills like the one in New Canaan, but honestly it is about the nature, right?

Both my kids loved it and are ready to go back next year. The staff is so friendly and super organized. From the entrance into the parking lot right up until I dropped off my kids in the center, there was assistance of where to go and lots of welcoming smiles for my kids. My son and I went to the campout on Friday night of his camp week. We both had a blast. Again, super organized but laid back enough that we really enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend this program. We'll be back to explore more that the center has to offer.

I had the pleasure of attending a wedding as a bridesmaid. The space was beautiful and spacious. The china on the lower level in casing was beautiful and the colors chosen have a very old home comfort feel. Takes you back a bit to another time. Lighting for images is great here and there is a handicap parking close to the ramps which make entry and exits very easy. They offer recycling and trash in their kitchen. The staff on site was very informative and kind. Overall, a very pleasant experience. The videos and photos we took look beautiful!!! I'd like to personally thank Tarrywile for everything!!

AllTrails marked it as easy, but I'd say it's more of a medium. A boarded section washed out from a recent flood, so it took some maneuvering to get through. Also a few big trees down. But overall it was a really fun and relaxing hike.

A gem nestled in a neighborhood! The fountain in the lake is relaxing to view and very quiet…read more Down the hill are the play areas for kids. There is a larger pink jungle gym with slides, bridges and climbing bars. There is a smaller one for younger kids beside the bathrooms. Between the two jungle gyms is a water pad; water comes out of the ground or showers from above. The kids can enjoy the water with no fear of drowning. There is a little creek nearby where kids were trying to catch some tame wildlife. Bathrooms are beside the sports field. A few responsible dog walkers around the fountain. Shaded and sunny areas, with trash cans and benches available! Bring your own drinks and snacks since there is no food available (or vending machines!). Mostly of the area is paved and easy to walk. Between the lake fountain and kids place there are stairs. Great spot for spending an hour or two.
