This past Monday I said goodbye to my 18 year old soul dog Daphne…read more I wanted her cremated but was appalled to learn from the vet that she would he sent out and shipped back to them a few days later. Our fur babies are not Amazon packages!!! I did some research at found that The Final Gift in Oxford, CT, about an hour and a half away from me, does private same day cremations and has viewing services...aka a wake. This is what I wanted. I didn't want my last goodbye with my baby to be in a room in a hospital, I wanted to give her a dignified send off as if she were a human family member. I set up a viewing a few days later and could not believe the respect and attention she (and we) were given. I even got to hold her one last time as they have a warming process, so she was not cold or stiff, it was like she was sleeping. Ultimately I wish pet funeral homes were more common place...maybe one day they will be, but until then, if you want to honor your fur baby with a dignified send off suitable for a human, I could not recommend this place enough.

We had other items included (both requested and extra) which were from our veterinary clinic. Our cat was euthanized on June 6, FG picked him up from the vet's a few days after on Tuesday. He was cremated on June 16 and returned to the vet's likely on June 19 or early June 20. It took in total 2 weeks just to give you an idea on the timeframe. FG has several locations on the upper east coast from what I understand as of this review. I called FG's main customer support number and I believe he was cremated at their Oxford, Connecticut site. We also chose this service over other local or nearby ones because they are open on weekends. I wanted to get our pet's remains back as soon as possible. They did a good job during a tough time of mourning our pet so I do highly recommend them. The black wooden urn was a great quality too.

Making the call was incredibly difficult, but the person I spoke with helped ease some of that burden. At no point during that call did I feel rushed or that my feelings were disregarded. When Kevin and Dr. Maura arrived, they showed the same kindness and compassion. They walked us through the entire process and allowed us some final, meaningful time with our fur baby before we began. The level of empathy they both showed is something I will never forget. Thank you for making such a difficult day a little more bearable and for treating our beloved fur baby with the dignity, love, and respect she deserved. Your compassion truly meant the world to our family.

Unfortunately, I needed their services sooner rather than later, and a compassionate representative scheduled a next day appointment. Kris and Kevin were kind and calming; they explained the process well, let us participate as much or as little as we were comfortable with, in a peaceful and unhurried manner, and were respectful of our grief. Willow was comfortable in their presence immediately, and experienced no stress or pain. Willow was an angel on earth, and deserved the best homecoming we could give her-thank you, Kris and Kevin and God bless what you do!

The staff at Pet Passages was very compassionate and competent, and they made a very difficult situation much more bearable. We felt like we were treated with kindness and respect, and it was very much appreciated. We selected the "Remembrance" package, which was one step up from the lowest-priced option, and the engraved wooden box, velvet bag and various remembrances of our little friend were all very, very nice.....classy and respectful. It's also worth noting that the staff did not try to "upsell" us to a more expensive arrangement, again treating us with respect at a difficult time. We have another little but elderly friend, and when the time comes, we will certainly select Pet Passages again.

I just used Pet Passages in Southbury for the cremation of my beloved Pitbull, "Fetty" after…read moresuddenly and traumatically losing him to acute Kidney Failure. From start to finish the staff was kind, caring and extremely compassionate to my loss. Losing Fetty came just a few days after losing my father to terminal cancer...so this was extremely difficult for my family and I. They met me first thing in the morning after Fetty passed away over night and made the process of paperwork extremely easy which I appreciated because I was beside myself. I left knowing my beloved boy was in good hands with fellow animal lovers who understood the profound loss I was experiencing. Fetty came home today, just 2 days later and with his ashes I received a lovely heartfelt sympathy card along with his nose and paw prints. Thank you to Jill and all the other staff at Pet Passages for taking such wonderful care of my boy...and me during this difficult time. While I hope that no other pet owner finds themselves needing the services of Pet Passages, it's truly comforting to know that there is a wonderful business locally who can care for the final arrangements of your pets large & small. I fully recommend this business if you're looking for cremation for your beloved pet after they pass over the Rainbow Bridge. I know my Fetty will be waiting for me on the other side and for now, he's keeping my dad company until I get there to be with them again
