I had asked a family member to drop my vehicle off for an appointment. When the appointment was complete and it was determined what repairs were needed, I did not receive a phone call from the service center, instead they allowed my family member to authorize the repairs without my permission. They had my number on file and I was waiting by the phone for the call. This is completely unacceptable. Only the account holder should have the authority to authorize repairs. When I brought this up to the rude women in service, her response was "you need to take this up with your family member, this isn't my problem." I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

If I can give this dealership/service department a zero star I would in a heart beat! We have been a Chevrolet owners for a very long time. We've always purchased our vehicles brand new and cash. It seems like every time we have our vehicles serviced at this dealership our vehicle comes back worst than it was. Within this month we've gone back 4 times now for different issues. I truly wonder if the technician's know what they are doing. I hope GM investigates this dealership and their technician's. I NO LONGER TRUST this dealership. At this point we are selling our vehicle. Either we are buying a new Chevy from a different location or go with a different brand because their service has left me a bad taste in my mouth. Chris and Edison has been very professional through out all of my issues which I appreciate. I understand they are just doing their job. The issue I have are their technicians. I contacted them about a vehicle listing I saw on Autotrader and their own website. The actual price they quoted turned out to be $15,000 more than what is listed on either website. I pointed out the inaccurate listing and ask them if they had any intention of removing or correcting it, they said they don't care if it's inaccurate, and they were very rude. It appears they are unconcerned with their own errors or worse trying to pull a bait and switch. More specifically they were selling a vehicle with a bunch of options clearly listed and pictured in the description under the price listed. They stated that "the listing was not inaccurate because you could buy that vehicle without the options for the price listed." All I asked was that the listing was corrected or removed and they were rude to me and said it was an accurate listing. In fairness to this dealer/review. We did not end up buying a car yet. We worked with the sales associate and a sales manager and both were good to work with and very low pressure. Almost, a little too low pressure... but it was a relief compared to other dealers we had visited. I was recently at this dealership and can say that management seems fair, however, one of their salesman was unethical, immoral, and possibly illegal. To shorten a long story, four years ago my then future wife was buying a Hyundai at a local dealership. At the time, she was divorcing her then husband who was on the loan of her current vehicle. The salesman informed her that the only way to get him off the loan was to trade in her vehicle. Wow! Completely untrue. Then, he basically stole her trade in and gave her 50% of what it was worth. Basically, he said she owed $10k more on her loan after trade that she can roll into her new loan. Lies. She wasn't underwater at all. So now she got a Hyundai Elantra for $28500. Wow. Ripped her off. All because he told her she had no other choice getting him off the previous loan. Fast forward four years, I go to look at a truck at Colonial West. I work with a guy who tells me he used to work at that Hyundai dealership and how awful they are (matter of fact claiming they purposely hide vehicles in their basement to fool the manufacturer on how many they sell). I come home after not completing a deal, which this salesman was noticeably upset about, and tell me wife the story. She looks at her own paperwork and asks me who the salesman I worked with was. Come to find out, it is the same guy! The guy who lied to my wife and basically stole from her. His name is Terry Locher. Even when I was there he claimed our current trade was retailed at $6500. I quickly brought up cars.com and showed him numerous vehicles of the same model, year, and mileage going for $11k-$12k. He looked like a deer in headlights. It wasn't until I worked with management that they became fair on their offerings. I realize they are in it to make money. But to outright lie to my wife, then to admit that the dealership he used to work for were awful people, to find out later he was the one doing all the lying! And to tell me $6500 was fair on our current trade as it was retail! Needless to say, management cane up thousands on their trade offer to me. I can't say if I recommend Colonial West as I didn't buy a vehicle from them. But I can say one of their salesman is untrustworthy and possibly criminal. He lied to my wife and lied to me. Shocked absolutely shocked by the level of professionalism at your establishment. I am a proud Chevrolet customer and was completely thrown back by your staff. This would have been my second visit to the service department and it will be my last. My appointment was scheduled for 2:30pm. By the time someone acknowledge I was waiting for service I had been waiting for 10 minutes. All I had scheduled was an oil change and tire rotation. I waited for over an hour and a half.... My lease ends in a few months and I was considering leasing through colonial but I would rather drive 60 miles to Pride Chevrolet in Lynn to receive the customer service I deserve. read more

I called today to make an appointment for an oil change and a blinker replacement for my Camaro. I had gone there before and gotten good service so thought I'd just swing by quickly later this morning. The lady scheduling the appointments in the service area asked if I wanted to stay or leave the car. For an oil change and blinker replacement? I am thinking 20 - 30 min tops. Why would I leave? She went on to say that it would take 1 1/2 HOURS to do it and they couldn't accommodate me for three days....that's 1 hour for an oil change and 30 min for the blinker replacement. The ONLY reason I am giving two stars is because the sales guy we worked with (Tommie) was very friendly, personable, and energetic. Our overall experience however was certainly one star. We did not end up buying a car from Colonial West and most likely would not consider them in the future. "Couldn't" get me into the agreed upon car, spoke to me (or my husband) three times before we showed up to pick up said car that we had left a deposit on and assured us everything was good to go, let us show up and be blindsided that we weren't leaving with the car, proceeded to offer us a brand new Malibu the same size as the car we wanted to trade in at a monthly cost of $90 more than the Equinox we thought we were getting. Refused to hear what we were saying. We heard you, Geno, loud and clear. You were leaving us with the option of the Malibu and that was it, and it was BRAND NEW. You couldn't seem to understand us- it wasn't what we wanted and we weren't comfortable with the price (again, $90 over a month and $160 more a year on insurance). Way to belittle the customer and act like we didn't get the concept (roll negative equity from the trade in into the rebate on the new car). We got it the first time you said it, let alone the third and fifth time. And we heard you the multiple times you said BRAND NEW. We walked. Left another dealership the next day (a Sunday!) in a CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED SUV. Imagine that. Under our budget, lowered interest rate, gap insurance and all. Returned to Colonial that Monday for a refund of the deposit that mysteriously they couldn't do over the phone to find the other finance manager (Carlos) wanted one last chance, but didn't hear it from him. Sales guy Tommie again relaying the messages. Come on Colonial, get it together. You want one more chance, YOU come talk to me. Honestly, the moment Geno didn't pick up the phone and call us before we came in for the car we never got, we were done with you. Poor customer service for sure. Had you guys handled the situation better, we would have kept my old car longer, paid it down, and come back for the Traverse. Tommie said you would never put us in a car we couldn't afford and bury us in car payments. That's exactly what you tried to do! When you weren't suggesting we buy the Equinox AND keep my old car ending up with $749 in car payments. Super advice for sure. read more

After taking some interest in the truck we began to work some numbers ( myself, Jose and the financial manager ) after 3 hours of tough bargaining we were just about at an agreement with a Price, and trade-in offer... Soon after the "GENERAL MANAGER"(Jeff Chandler) comes strolling onto the sales floor like he is the "cats meow" dressed in jeans and looking very unprofessional. He gets word of the poteniol sale in progress and begins to review the sales agreements on paper. After realizing he didnt exactly approve of what the current deal was he send over "Jose" to speak with me and has him tell me there going to have to take off $2000 from the trade appraisal they had already given me and we agreed upon. VERY POOR BUSINESS MOVE! Withen 2 minutes i had packed up my stuff and walked out the door and didnt give them a chance. I inquired about a 2007 Cadillac Escalade they had available, which as of the date of this posting is still there, that I was really interested in. I was working with a saleswoman, Jenny, whom was very nice and polite. We went for a test drive and there were a few things I noticed, such as noise coming from the front-end which I believed at the time needing new struts. After the test drive there seemed to be damage to the rear bumper, deep scratches on the right side door (I believe) and to the passenger side mirror. Jenny stated those scratches were not there before and that is something they would be taking care of before selling the car anyway. We went back inside and I explained to Jenny that some front end work needed to be done. Glad I brought my computer to do some work because when she left, she left for awhile. But you know that's the whole car business game; they leave to go and talk to their manager and they have to put stuff together and try to negotiate with me - blah blah blah. I dealt with it as it was not her fault. Manager came back and were going to give me what I asked for my vehicle, but they denied there was anything wrong with the vehicle. The manager and I took it for a ride then he believed me. I specifically stated that if I were to buy this vehicle that needs to be fixed. Before I left Jenny said she would call me in a few days.....(that's where it went downhill) I waited for her call...and waited...and waited. I called the office a few times and spoke with Jenny and one day she said she had to wait for the big boss to come back from the auction to see if they are going to fix the issue I presented and would get back to me. Never got back! I called again, and she gave me some other excuse and said she would call back - never got back! I called again and left a VM, did she call back - NOPE! So of course at that point I'm like ok she's not going to call me back so I'll just move on. I'm not one to post on yelp at all but her actions were very unprofessional. You have a customer who would have give you the sale provided the issue was fixed but you never took the liberty to call me back after you said you would. I would have been ok if Jenny called back and at least said something like "Hi James, unfortunately we are not going to fix the issue......" or "Hi James, sorry I did not get back to you sooner but......." I did not hear anything. So I am going to give this a "2" because the place was clean, both Jenny and the other person did seem nice and personable. But not getting back to me was unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

I actually didn't end up buying from them simply because they didn't have the car I was really wanting but they were fantastic. My salesman Bill and the manager Carlos (I think we went to TONS of dealerships) were attentive, offered me a really competitive price and were great about staying in touch. Had they had what I wanted in stock or I had the luxury of time to let them track it down they would have been the hands down winner of the dealerships I worked with. Repair tech forgot an O-Ring on my oil filter during an oil change. Had less than 1 bar of pressure and was going down the highway when my oil had been spraying all underneath my car and onto the highway, then the low oil pressure light came on and they sent a tow truck to get me. Dealer denied any damage could have been done to the vehicle and sent me on my way with nothing except for fixing the O ring and cleaning the car. read more

My family recently went to Colonial West Chevrolet to buy a used car for our family. I first spoke to Ali on the phone and made an appointment to see a car. She was very friendly and invested in us as customers. When we arrived we were greeted by salesmen who promptly fulfilled my 4 y.o.'s request for some strawberry juice. We were assigned to Ivy Shomphe as our salesperson and showed a Chevrolet Cobalt. We kept the staff at Colonial West on their toes with our 4 year old and our 8 week old baby but they took care of us from the beginning of our visit to the end when we drove out with our red Chevy Cobalt. All the staff were friendly and welcoming and above and beyond professional. Carlos helped us with the financing and was excellent. IVy made sure my husband and I were happy at all times with the process. There were no snags at all during the whole process. I can't recommend this dealership enough. read more

My family and friends have bought and serviced a total of 6 new and used cars.I recently tried to buy a car,I have to say the remodel of dealership is amazing. New building with new faces and new way to do buisness. When I first bought a car,my sales lady had said we don't need to be the biggest volume dealer,and we would rather use our money on our inventory and customers. It was a small dealer with a big heart. I would call her to see if a cheap car by privet sale was a good deal for my kids. When I stopped back in, I saw new staff there new image... Ivy, the telemarketer, tells you they are interested in your vehicle for trade-in (great value, lots of incentives on new cars). You tell her that you are happy with your current vehicle, but you would consider a less than x-amount trade in. She says that is doable. You take the time to go into the dealer only to find out the deal is not deal--a bait and switch tactic, and the best offer they have (and they claim to be taking one on the chin for you) is almost double what you were willing to spend. What? Why did Ivy make the promise? Why did she say "just come in"? Not a transparent or honest dealership, and I have been a GM customer for 30 years with my father and brothers working for them over generations. read more

I am posting this negative review of Colonial West Chevrolet after a very poor sales experience. My salesperson was Walter Lahood. After test driving two vehicles, we settled upon a Silverado pickup, after his suggestion. And after filling out a credit application, Walter came back with two different offers, I agreed to the second offer. Walter stated have we got a deal, I said yes and we shook hands. I asked Walter when I could take delivery of the truck and he stated let's shoot for Monday. Made a small deposit to hold the truck. After Monday coming and going, I emailed Walter to check in and got no response. Four days later I emailed Walter again along with the General Manager and Sales Manager and finally received a call from Walter stating their working on it. Have not received any explanation. How can an auto dealer make a deal with you, then renege on it ? I have never seen this happen before in all my years of car buying. Colonial West Chevrolet didn't stand behind this deal. Just didn't care about making things right. And my deposit has yet to be returned. Unfortunately was not given a copy of the purchase and sale agreement and forgot to ask for one. read more

Started off being in contact with multiple Chevy dealerships trying to find the best deal on leasing a 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Double Cab Z71 with $8,000 down. I had went to Colonial and had a deposit on a truck and I went back to get the deposit and I was gonna work with Salvadore Chevy in Gardner. The second I said I had gotten a better offer they told me they could do $149 a month for 39 months with $8,000 no Bulls*%+. So I ended up working with them and everything was going great until the day I was suppose to get the truck. They had more then doubled the monthly payment and that was with an extra $2,000 added to the down payment. I had to back out but was on a time crunch so I looked at their used trucks even though I wanted nothing to do with dealership and picked out a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT Double Cab. With the truck I was given a free sprayed in bed liner, a free undercoating, and they were gonna replace the backup camera free of charge since it was busted. I had to wait about three weeks to get the truck due to a recall. When I picked it up the undercoating and the bed liner looked great, but the tailgate wouldn't go down and thy never replaced the backup camera. I had to go back the following week to get everything done and fixed but they should've checked this all out for the three weeks they had the truck sitting on the lot. Also I am beyond disgusted with the detail work done to my truck. Absolutely disgusting. They did a nice polish on the exterior but didn't even touch the interior... and that was after they said they detailed a second time because of how bad it was. I will not be going back to this dealership anytime soon. I give props to Franklyn for putting up with me and he is the best for helping make this rough purchase somewhat smooth. read more

Colonial West Chevrolet are a bunch of lying thieves. They sold me a truck with what turned out to be a false warranty which was not recorded in the General Motors database. So when my truck broke down in Maryland as a result of service work Colonial had performed there was nothing anyone could do for me. I had to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket in addition to hotel stay and towing. Colonial paid me back a couple hundred of that and then stopped answering and returning my phone calls. I should probably take legal action, but as far as you prospective consumers are concerned...stay away. If you do buy, be careful of what they sell you on. And no one should EVER get work done on their vehicle. Not only did my first service result in transmission failure, but the truck was originally in there for rear end problems and a year later when I went to change my differential cap I found chunks of metal and gears left in the rear end.
