I got my hair cut by Daniel and a balayage done by Alissa. Both were incredible! Daniel gave me a great cut for my curly hair that I let air dry. Alissa absolutely knocked it out of the park with my balayage. I had a few pictures for examples and she mixed what I liked the best in all of them. Both were very nice and hospitable. Today, I had an appointment with Holly. 3 weeks ago I mistakenly went to a different salon to have my roots touched up. ( I just moved to New Orleans from Atlanta) Usually I get a full head of highlights. Well I walked out of that salon upset. The girl did not do one foil on my head but just touched my roots up w bleach. My hair was all shades of blonde and did not blend well at all. So I found color bar online w great reviews. I am so happy with my experience at color bar salon. It is a cozy salon and great atmosphere. I was the only one there at the time and I was able to just relax and get my hair done. Jillian was great! I love the time she took with my hair and made sure my color was exactly what I wanted. I've never had a hair stylist that perfected what I was looking for until Jilian. It was the first time I've ever done baylage and although it was pricy and took about 3 hours it was well worth it. I would give zero stars if I could. By far the worst haircut I have ever had. If you have short hair, do not go to Keri. Unless, of course, you want a mom haircut. I brought in a photo pretty similar to the cut I was already sporting. Nothing crazy, I just wanted her to keep the length (I'm growing it out), and just change up my bangs a little and add texture. Easy, right? Well, she cut off all the length on the sides, and left the back exactly as it was when I went in-- long and weirdly grown out. I kept waiting for her to cut my bangs, I thought maybe she could save it somehow? She literally cut NOTHING off my bangs. I had to ask her to trim them after she was done. I could have cut them better myself. Long story short, I went it with a photo of Shannyn Sossamon and walked out looking like Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail. The worst little boy mullet you can possible imagine. There goes 6+ months of growing. Don't go here. Go to Kim at Rocket Science. She saved my hair. read more

Holly was amazing!!!! We tried for a mermaid teal, but my dark, over colored hair wasn't having the bleach. But it turned out a beautiful rose copper for now! She does a beautiful color and cut. FANTASY COLOR WILL FADE IMMEDIATELY WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like others have said I with I could give 0 stars. I had my hair cut and colored two weeks ago and I already have terrible and extremely obvious roots and even though I've only washed my hair three times with color safe everything the color has almost completely stripped out. I had my hair bleached and dyed pink and there is no pink left and now it is just straight blonde. I spoke to my stylist in the salon about my concern about already seeing roots through the dye job she had just done and she assured me it would not look bad, unfortunately (and to me obviously) they have only gotten worse and I am going to have to go get them fixed elsewhere. When I spoke to the owner he said he was not surprised it washed out that quickly. He said that it was normal for the fantasy colors to wash out after being washed even once. It seems insane to me that a $465 due job would only last 3 washes, but according to him that should be expected. He was extremely unhelpful and ultimately very rude about the problem repeating that he gave no guarantee it would last longer than one wash. I have dyed my hair at other salons with the exact same brand they use and the same color and have never had a problem with it washing out literally immediately. Absolutely NOT worth how VERY VERY expensive it is, especially if you're getting fantasy colors! If you are willing to drop literally hundreds of dollars for something that will last days, then you will have beautiful results! If you want anything that will last for any length of time do not go here. read more

I recently scheduled an appointment with Ginger. I only had to wait 5 days from the time I called for a big appointment (my first color, cut, and style with a new stylist). That was a short wait compared to other salons. Ginger was all that I hoped she would be; her patience and kindness were remarkable. But her professionalism and need to make sure that she and I were "on the same page" was outstanding. I did bring pictures which were never exactly what I wanted, but I was able to point out things that I liked about each cut or color. I don't think that I was explaining myself well, but she never made me feel stupid. Instead, she asked me pointed questions about what I thought about my current hair color and cut, and about the pictures that I brought. I felt very confident about her plan before we started. It's easy to enjoy the vibe of the salon since it's unique. It also has a very friendly atmosphere. I felt so comfortable and not at all out of place. Everyone who was working there and receiving services was having a good time. My color, cut and style left me grinning like an idiot for the rest of the day! I had blonde hair for all my life and decided to go dark in the fall, turned out I hated it. Sadly, it was a good coloring and therefore hard to go back blonde. I had Sarah. She explained that I couldn't go with an all over color safely and that I would do better with a series of blonde highlights over time. I was disappointed that I would have highlights as I think they look streaky and obvious. She did a highlight, very thin and blended. It looks amazing and was a lot more of a change than I thought possible. I will be returning to complete the process over several months. Couldn't be happier. I only had a trim and layers cleaned up but the cut is great and my hair still looks healthy. The only other time I had bleach in my hair it felt nasty and wouldn't comb out while wet. Last November, I needed a "color rescue", so I found the Color Bar Salon. Not only did Rachel save my horrible box color job (I attempted to go darker for fall, but we will not focus on that), she gave me a color that I could only dream of creating at home! I was only days away from a photo session that I had scheduled months earlier, so getting an appointment scheduled quickly was a sure plus. Rachel was friendly and took her time as she carefully worked with my kinky curls. Not only did she erase all of the horrible box color away, but she gave a me a huge assortment of colors to choose from. Keri is fantastic. She is great with short styles, long styles, growing out styles and color. I should know I've been using her brilliant skills for over 3 years and we rarely do the same thing twice. Someone below complained that they thought Keri gave them a bad "growing-out" haircut, I doubt this--as that is Keri's specialty. Anytime your hair is growing out what you want it to look like now and where you want it to be in 2 or 3 months don't always coincide. I bet this person had her hair exactly the way she wanted it when it grew out--Keri is a genius like that. read more

Go see Rachael! I love this salon and Rachael D.! She has been helping me grow my hair out for more than a year now and I am so happy with how healthy it is. She really knows what to do with hair and how to take good care of it. I recommend her to everyone! After I leave the salon I always have people asking me who does my hair...which is super fun knowing my hair looks that GREAT that people are telling me! PLUS I basically have given her all creative rights when I come in, lol. I am never disappointed. I know I can trust her to make my hair look incredible. She has a handle on all hair types, even ethnic--I'm just trying to say the girl knows hair! I am on my second round of extensions and I am loving them! We are doing the tape-in pieces and everyone thinks its my own hair. They fit in seamlessly. Its the absolute best way to grow your hair out! Just go see her and you'll see what I'm talking about. The salon is a really cool spot too. They have it decorated with a modern vibe that makes you feel like you are in some really high-end place in New York. I called to have my hair cut and colored today. I explained that I have psoriasis on my scalp. She was so rude to me. She asked if that was an open wound. She put me in hold for a while, then came back with "the owner says you need to get that treated first." (Psoriasis is a skin condition that is not contagious) Her tone of voice was snotty and judgmental. I said, "I think you are being rude. Are you telling me that the owner has no idea what psoriasis is?" She then starts talking to someone else and tells me to wait, all the while keeping her snippy attitude. I told her to forget it, called Stardust around the corner and they could not have been more lovely to me. If you want to be treated like a leper, go to Color Bar, where the staff and even the owners, are ignorant and unprofessional. read more

Pretty dissatisfied with a basic 'trim' that I asked for. Wanted to do a basic side trim and keep hair style exactly the same. Ended up having half my head shaved off and when I objected to what the stylist was doing was told "to trust him cause he knows what he's doing" .. Despite instructions to just do a basic tidy/trim I came out with a different hair style which will take months to grow out. Ginger did an ombré effect on my naturally curly hair. I hennaed in the past (maybe two months ago using BAQ henna). She did a strand test, it lifted nicely, then we went for it. She got the color I wanted spot on. This is my first colorist experience so I took baby steps. I will be back for more color. I just love the color and how she placed it makes my curls really pop. Once my hair takes a little break I'll get more of the same color throughout. I did need to do a protein treatment afterwards but that was to be expected. Life after henna isn't so bad. I heard horror stories online, but all was well and she really knew how to tone the color after lifting the henna, so no bozo orange for me. I'm very happy. I uploaded photos as well. read more

I have been going here for about a year and a half now and my hair has never looked looked great- it has also never been terrible which is why I kept going. The people working at the front desk have never been friendly but also never so terribly rude to make me stop going. Also, they do free bang trims which is definitely an incentive to continue seeking their services. I will,however, NEVER EVER return to this place after today. I went in for a bang trim, the front desk lady was very rude and then I was charged $10 for what took about 3 minutes to do. Oh and did I mention how terrible my bangs looked?
