My hair was already damaged. Went in to have roots touched up and toner. My hair was 3 different colors of blonde after leaving the salon. Then right after, my hair seemed even more damaged. Honestly... wtfff I cannot believe I thought to trust yelp on this one. I am disappointed in the bang trim that Julia gave me. I asked for a trim not to give me a new look. I hate it and I'm never the type to give out bad reviews or any reviews for that matter but I hate how my bangs were trimmed. She was nice enough to comfort me when she saw the look on my face by saying "I think that's just your hair" really..? I don't even want to show or mention the updo she did for my mom. It was cute for the first 45 minutes. There were loose ends that she mentioned she tried to Bobby pin down but it wasn't holding. Again, because it's "just her hair" that was a fat chunk of hair Julia I just don't understand if we weren't happy with the finally look why not encourage to help fix it in any way. Maegan hooked me up! I made an appointment for my lunch break (2hrs). Risky, I know, but they assured me that this sort of thing happens all the time. The salon is really nice; there's a very clean, modern feel about the place. Lots of light, both natural and otherwise in a mostly open space. We did a quick consult about what I wanted/what would work before she took me to the shampoo bowl and I love that she asked to see example pictures so we'd both be on the same page. She took both before and after pics of my hair and ya'll.... the transformation was real, lol. I love my new cut. We went with a bob and she even gave me a lil bit of a fade on the side that I have shaved. I had a great experience and even got finished in time to get back to work. I have two different textures going on with my hair, but it's primarily curly/wavy. I went in only knowing what I didn't want, but otherwise put myself/my hair in her expert hands. She gave me the perfect cut for my face, my hair texture, and my utter inability to wield a blow dryer and a brush, simultaneously (apparently I have two left hands when it comes to the use of styling tools). Great experience getting my hair done by Alexis! As someone who has had too many bad hair cuts and color that is never what I ask for, I stalked IG to find someone who could give me a natural, face framing balayage while I was in town celebrating my birthday. So glad I found Alexis!! @alexisparkerhair Alexis was super sweet and I was able to make an appointment by texting her, plus I got to take advantage of a special she had running that weekend. She really listened to what I wanted, as well as how my hair behaves. She also mixed toners to give me to exact blonde I was hoping for. The cut rid me of all my split ends and lots of weight and gave me beautiful long layers that gave my hair some movement. The HEAD MASSAGE during the wash is unlike anything I have ever experienced - amazingly relaxing. The salon itself is very clean and well set up. There were multiple women getting large scale color and their system for moving you through the process makes you feel attended to an comfortable. They also gave me coupons as a first time customer (love me some coup's!) Will absolutely be back the next time I am in the area.... and I can see myself specifically planning a road trip route around being able to stop here. read more

I had my hair cut by Maritza. I hadn't had a cut in months so my hair was very long. I stressed two times (and pointed) that I wanted it cut so it would touch my collarbones when it was finished. I also said (two times) that I wanted to be able to put it in a pony tail. My hair is now at least 1 inch above my collarbones and it absolutely does not go into a pony tail unless I use bobby pins. This was a fairly expensive cut and to end up with a mess I'll have to deal with for months until it grows out is very frustrating. I couldn't have made myself more clear and my cut is not what I wanted. I don't think I will go back because of how upset I am that I now have to grow out my hair in order to feel okay about how I look. And to have to wear bobby pins which don't work and hair falls down constantly! The salon is nice. They sell good products. It's clean and comfortable. Maybe one of the other stylists would do a better job. read more

My first experience here, there was a snafu with my color that turned out way too dark on my roots. I came back the next day and the team made it right at no charge and gave me a second blow out for free as well since we had to do a clarifying wash to tone down the semi-permanent color on my hair. They also gave me some discounts for the inconvenience and were extremely conscientious! I live about two blocks from here so I go in once every 10 days or so for a blow out. I have had multiple different stylist do them all with fantastic results that usually last 3-4 days! Prices vary by stylist for all services based on their experience and specialties so check first. A couple weeks ago, Nicole did a conditioning treatment, toner, and blow out on my hair before a wedding in Vegas at the very last minute and it looked absolutely phenomenal in pictures. I got so many compliments on my hair the entire 4 day weekend (yes the blow out lasted that long!). Nicole made great recommendations on my full highlight for my next appointment and was really friendly and easy to talk to. I don't love the way the color bar is set up and the fact that you sit awkwardly at a table where 2-3 other people are also having color done, but overall the salon is modern and reasonably priced for a downtown salon. read more

The people were nice and the salon is very clean. However, my stylist cut way too much hair off after I showed her multiple pictures and discussed what I wanted in extreme detail. She seemed confident but I did interject a few times about keeping more length. I convinced myself it was ok but by the time I got home I had to admit it to myself.... my hair was way too short and not what I wanted at all. I barely have any hair left. I went out and bought some bandanas to tie around my hair until this grows out. Plus, this was the most expensive place I have ever been to. I had very high hopes and am really disappointed in my results. All this being said, they did a wonderful job on my eyebrow waxing so I will give some stars for that and their nice atmosphere. Went in to get my hair dyed. Showed my stylist a picture of how I wanted it. It looked nothing like the picture. Asked for her to trim my hair and she ended up cutting so much off. It took everything in me not to cry. She blowdryed my hair mediocre and the end result looked like there was no effort put in. I had to go get it fixed at another salon. I tried to act happy as I left because I hate confrontation. It's also extremely overpriced. Everyone in the salon was on their phones and talking to each other. Super unprofessional. read more

Buyer beware!!!! I visited this salon after making an appointment with the owner Maritza, to have my hair colored (Balayage). The salon is very nice with modern decor. Parking is available but at a charge of $3/hour. Warning!!!! Everything regarding a hair appointment is a la carte. The Balayage hair coloring is $175, but you must pay $50 for blow drying and $25 toner. These extra prices (toner and blow drying) are not on their website or on their brochure. I was told of these charges as I sat in the chair for the appointment. Total bait and switch! I was willing to give the stylist a chance to impress me, since the prices I was being charged, indicated a special experience. I brought in multiple photos for the hair color I wanted. The final result was not even close! A Balayage treatment should have resulted in a range of highlists with a pattern of lighter color toward the ends. I ended up with my same hair color and just random streaks of colors in patches. I told Maritza that I did not like the result. Everyone in the shop heard me and knew that I was displeased.She said it would get better with washing a few times. I again reiterated that the resul was terrible. She tried to convince me that it looked fine, despite not being anything close to the pictures I brought in. Then Maritza proceeded to say, it was because my original hair color was dark brown and that if I came back for 2-3 more colorings, she should be able to get the right look. Wow! Are you kidding me? She expected me to pay $250 for 2 or 3 more appointments before she "might" be able to get it right.. She did not even, offer to fix it at a future or comp the screw up that just happended. She gave me a 10% discount card on a future appointment. Then she showed me to the cash register and her receptionist charge me $250. Then, he had the nerve to ask if I was leaving a tip. What a joke! Sometimes people make mistakes, but a professional owns up to their mistakes and tries to do the right thing make it right for their customers. Average. The color was great. It's absolutely gorgeous. I showed the stylist photos of the cut that I wanted. MY hair was already too short and I did not want the length cut. She said she would trim the ends. The "ends" ended up being 1.5 inches so I have the shortest hair I have ever had in my life. The style looks nothing like the photo that I showed her. I have multiple layers when I only wanted one. This might be a great hair cut for someone who likes this style but it does not suit me, my face or my lifestyle. Oh yeah, she suggested adding foil not to give me new highlights but to use some of the old color. Not necessary but it did add $60 to the bill. For $215 before tip I expected much better. My favorite hair stylist Caye moved and Spa Isbell was cool enough to tell me where (def give them props for that). So like the professional little stalker I am, I quickly made an appt with her at Hair Loft. As always, I had a great time getting my hair done, seriously, this is the happiest I've been with my hair in years! Since I've trusted my locks to Caye they're so healthy and perfectly colored and trimmed. She helps me keep the length but is honest enough to tell me when its time to cut some off because its starting to look Whitesnake 80s video long! As always Caye works quickly and efficiently so I'm not spending the entire day there, but in no way, shape or form makes you feel rushed! Also, she's an animal lover too, so we spend the majority of time discussing how much animals rock! Speaking of rock, one of the stylists mustve been playing music from her pandora account ,I was loving the selection of rock playing. Now on to the salon itself.. its located in a strip mall on Tchoup St, so I'm sure I wouldve overlooked it not going there for a specific stylist. There is a Massage Envy and nail salon in the same plaza, so you could totally make an affordable pamper day out of it! The other stylists seemed really cool and knowledgeable, and the salon offered water, soda, or champagne (extra points there)! I believe the salon was recently opened, it was SUPER clean and all the equipment looked new! Also the prices were quite a bit lower than previous salons, so I indulged in the great line of Kerastase products they offer. Just to note they also offer 20% off with a student id Mon - Thurs. The only downside was that I went in on a Saturday morning, so there was an abundance of children coming in and out with their parents, I'll schedule my next appt accordingly. Nothing against children, but a hair salon is boring for them, so they tend to act a fool. That said, Caye is such a great a stylist, I'll tune out screaming children for her fabulous color and cuts! read more

Finding a solid spot to get my hair trimmed after I moved back home from Cali was not an easy task. It's not as if I couldn't find the skill but I couldn't find the appropriate professionalism. While living in California, I'd become accustomed to my fabulous stylist in S.F., whom was always on time and got me in and out...always looking amazing. Luckily, my sister's friend heard my cry and recommended I make an appointment with Nikki at Hair Loft. And thank goodness I did! The salon is adorable but not too uptight and Nikki is a doll! She is so friendly and easy-going and really took an interest in my growing-out woes. Growing out a pixie is no easy task....let me tell you! Nikki has been so patient and has truly coached me through the entire ordeal, helping to keep me on the straight and narrow when I wanted to take those scissors and chop off more locks. Now that I'm growing out well, I'm really looking forward to getting color done. All that to say...do try Hair Loft if you're looking for a cool salon that is about business and not all the frills of decor (per se).
