I've had a lot of issues due to this crazy thyroid of mine, and I was able to get amazing extensions that do not use glue, aren't tight extreme to my scalp or in anyway uncomfortable! I came in for a trim, and while the stylist was pleasant, I'm not sure I would go back... I have long thick hair with layers and this seemed to stress my stylist. She kept talking about thinning my hair out, asked if I'd always had thick hair, and said that it was too heavy to cut wet so it was washed, dried, and straightened before she cut it. I just thought this was really odd as I've had my hair my whole life and never had a stylist say it was too heavy and cut it dry. Also my hair is not naturally straight and I never style it straight so it was off putting that that was the route taken. I questioned things and expressed my apprehensiveness but let her do her thing since she was the professional. She said when I got home and washed my hair and styled it like normal then I could see how the cut would look. What?? When in an awkward situation you sometimes just politely go along with things... I think if you have thin hair with exact parts then you should give this place a shot, like I said my stylist was nice enough and I did enjoy the scalp massage while getting my hair washed, but my personal experience there is not one I will be repeating. If I am spending $45 plus tip on a TRIM then I expect the stylist to be comfortable working with and knowledgeable about all types of hair. I also expect hair to be styled the way the customer wants it. I know she was really focused on getting the trim perfect, but how she cut my hair... it was nothing like I've experienced before and the trim result was just okay. I've been going here for over a year and this place is super. I drive all they way from Parma every six to eight weeks to see Natalie for cut and color. It took us a few tries to get the color exactly right for my wedding (i'm particular), but she was patient and thorough. I recently was looking for a couple of hair changes (bangs, short. shorter!) and she coached me through them. When they wash your hair, they also provide a scalp massage and this is the best part of my day. The staff are professional and friendly. I love the atmosphere. I have been a huge fan of Color by Numbers salon since 2007, when I was recommended by a friend from high school. The owner, Natalie (who also cuts and colors my hair) is just plain awesome. She is very friendly, easy to chat with, and does an amazing job, every single time I have walked out of the salon, I feel elated with my new style. In particular, she is a great colorist and does the most incredible job with blonde. And did I mention the scalp massage during the shampoo? I've also gone back for a wedding updo and was thrilled because most places will give you the dreaded "prom hair." I walked out with a chic, messy side bun and to this day, it is one of my favorite looks I've ever had. Other little details that make going to Color by Numbers a great experience? They will offer you tea, coffee, bottled water, etc., updated magazines on the coffee table, an array of Bumble & Bumble products for sale, comfy couches to lounge on while you are waiting for your color to set, and great ambient music. The pricing is also pretty reasonable, in my opinion. For a partial highlight, cut and style, I usually pay about $100-$110, and this has only gone up maybe $5 or $10 in the last eight years. read more

I have been here twice since October 2014. I was referred to Color by Numbers by a co-worker. I recently moved to Lakewood over the summer and did not want to continue to drive back to Columbus to get my hair done, esp once the weather gets cold and nasty. I have seen Jessica twice and she is amazing! I am extremely picky and cautious of going to a new hair stylist. As I have had bad experiences in the past that have scared me for life! haha I have booked Jessica to do my hair for my upcoming wedding instead of paying to bring to bring my Columbus girl up...so that should tell you the level of service she has and can do. This is a pretty convenient location and very affordable prices regarding the services they provide. However, I had a very bad experience here when I decided to get my hair styled for my senior prom day. I showed a picture of the exact hair style I wanted to the stylist and she teased my hair into a rat's nest. She displayed a very unprofessional attitude once I told her my concerns. Even though I had a bad experience with one of the stylists and didn't have the hair I wanted on a big day... the rest of the salon is good. i scheduled an appt for a brazilianblow out and highlights then two days prior they contact me saying they couldn't do my hair because they didn't feel comfortable and they have new stylist. i told them specifically what i wanted and needed and there wasnt an issue when scheduling. they didn't even have odasity to call me they text me and when i tried calling back they ignored my phone calls.. would never go back or recommend to anyone.. everytime i went i had a new stylist so tgey obviously can't keep staff.. get it together color by numbers read more

I have been coming here the stylist Brandy for over 5 years. Brandy and her sister own the salon and do a fabulous job operating it. The place is clean and modern. I usually get a cut and color of some sort- and Brandy does a good job of keeping my look up to date. They use good products, don't push you to purchase a bunch of product, and don't overcharge you. I was SO hesitant to go to a new salon and new stylist, so I was extremely nervous about getting my hair done here, although I've heard amazing reviews! I'm so glad I chose Color By Numbers, Casey did an amazing job on my hair, I was actually happy with my hair for the first time in a while. She listened to exactly what I wanted and was so friendly and I didn't feel like it was just awkward new stylist talk. We had really good conversation and she made me feel really comfortable. Great experience! I moved to Lakewood from Indiana so I needed a stylist here. Color by Numbers was recommended to me by my cousin. I saw Cathy and I love my hair. She is great, she made sure I liked what she was doing every step of the way. I had my hair dyed an auburn color, then the under layer in the back bleached blond and then dyed baby pink. I had previously had my under layer a dark pink. The salon didn't have a dark color but I actually love the lighter pink more. I did go back a few days later because part of my hair that was bleached was hard to get a comb through and very dry. While there Cathy told me the salon had gotten a darker pink color in and she would re do my hair if I wanted, but I declined because I ended up liking the color she used better. She explained to me that my hair just needed conditioning and would be fine soon (and it is) and she gave me a specialty bottle of conditioner to use, on the house.
