Great experience getting passport photos done for our 6-month-old baby. We needed both US and Canadian photos, which a lot of places don't do, or they get confused about how to do it. After my husband got his Canadian passport photos done here, we went back because my husband said that he felt like they were the only place that seemed to know what they were doing. We were in and out super quick. They have great attention to detail--when packing the photos, they explained that the ink on the stamp can transfer to the back of the photos, so they pack them with a sheet in between and with the photos facing out. read more

I work for a local business on Boylston Street. My boss wanted a large banner for an upcoming event to promote her new business. I tried numerous online design agencies (Vistaprint, 4imprint) and was having a hard time using our business logo without it being pixelated. On my way to the office one day, I passed by the sign for Color Copy Center of Boston and decided it was worth a shot. In the age of everything done online, it almost felt foreign to go into a business and ask them to make you something. The guys at CCCB squashed that notion as they welcomed me with open arms. CCCB is located in the basement. It's nothing glamorous, which I appreciated. I was met by their dog at the door and friendly smiles. I ended up working with Johnny and am so so happy to have got to. He took my lack of knowledge and took the time to explain how digital images translate into tangible objects. He showed me the machines. He let me hang out while he worked. Honestly, I felt at home and I had just met them. Johnny needed to redesign our original, which required him altering the image completely and imposing text over the image. Let me tell you, it came out better than the original. Communication was done in person and over email. I never worried about them completing the project on time. I had complete trust in Johnny and the CCCB. The finished product was more than I could of asked for and my boss LOVED it. We will be using CCCB in the future. John Baker at this copy and printing shop is a real gem, and really helped me out on a last minute printing job I needed done while I was visiting Boston for work. We needed 9 large 2*3 feet, full color posters, and John quoted me $39 a pop, which is way cheaper than FedEx or other big guys quoted me, and on better quality paper. He not only did a great job in one day, but he delivered the posters to my hotel so they were ready and waiting when I flew in, and prepared for the next morning's meetings. I highly recommend this shop's services and will definitely use again if I have a printing need in Boston. read more

I'd give these guys zero stars if it was possible. I had a pretty simple project involving 3 oversized prints. After getting passed along by two disinterested members of the staff I was finally passed along to Johnny. He downloaded my files and we discussed the prints. "Come back tomorrow", he told me "your prints will be ready tomorrow". No one bothered to even take my name or number. When tomorrow came I was greeted by a young woman with an "I-don't-care-about-this-job-or-you" attitude that was rivaled only by her dazzling intellect. Her inability to remember Map, Ocean Wave, and Birth Announcement (despite me telling her 4 times) was nothing short of remarkable. When she finally got Johnny on the phone I was quickly asked "are you available for pick up tomorrow?" No. I am not. I will not be going back tomorrow nor will the advertising agency I work for be sending them any more business. read more

I went to Color Copy Center to get a passport photo for an Australian visa. At first, they were pretty friendly and seemed to know what they were doing. The actual photo shoot was completed very fast. It did however take the person working on it a long time (probably 10-15 minutes) to successfully transfer the picture to the computer, center it and optimize it further. I then duly paid my $20 fee, which is generally a reasonable cost for a non-standard passport photo size. After another 5 minutes of trying to get the printer to work the person returned with my photos in an envelope. However, there were 6 photos on a sheet - ie, the photo paper had not been cut. When I asked for a single copy of my photo, as I only needed 1 for the visa consulate, I was told they didn't have a "cutting machine" and that the visa consulate would cut it for me!! Now, I have applied for many visas in my life, and never before have I had the audacity to submit uncut photos to the visa consulate. I refused to take the photos unless they were cut. The person helping me said she couldn't do it as she didn't have "steady hands". I told her and another person who appeared to be the manager that it was unacceptable that they claimed to be able to do passport photos if they couldn't cut the photos and give me 1 photo, rather than spitting out 6 on a sheet! The manager then said something to the effect of "are you seriously not going to take these photos?" and I stuck to my stance of needing just a single photo. He then took the pictures to the back of the store and attempted to cut it with a scissors (by the looks of it). Ultimately, I got 2 of the pictures cut, but it wasn't exactly straight. I could see a bit of crookedness but didn't want to waste my time any further. All in all, while they appeared friendly at first I would not go back there. Not having a cutting machine is amateur hour. I have used passport photo services in NYC before and they get the job done in minutes. This was 20 minutes of frustration. read more

I have used them bunches of times when a client has come to me and said "Oh, by the way, I need a couple hundred of these (insert item here)" and I say "Ok, I'll see what I can do" give them the finger gun with a wink and walk away. Then I call Printing Plus. As long as they don't have a big job running, they can almost always come through. They do deliver and have always been speedy. I can just email the file and they hot foot it over or have it waiting for me. They are always friendly and willing to help accommodate me and the needs of our clients. I have had the pleasure of being a customer of this business for quite a while now. My experience is not a one off luck of the draw. Some of my responsibilities at my job fall into the purchasing category. They are problem solvers who output printing, copying, signage, retouching, layout at a speed that is unparalleled and 99% of the time every job is perfection. If for some reason there is a hiccup- the issue is corrected before you know it. I found my way to them via an outside sales person who was making cold calls in the neighborhood. Right time, right place and I had a need to establish a relationship with a local printer. They are a primary partner for me and I depend on them almost every week for an array of projects. Throw them a quick outline of what's needed, a ballpark budget and the in hands date and they will take it from there. I trust them implicitly. No job its too small ( or too big I guess as well ). If a request does not fall under their immediate capability- they out source it, manage the job and again- deliver either on time or early and on budget. I first met with Jon Goose and liked him immediately. Friendly, low key, personable. I assumed he would be my primary contact. What I was soon to learn was that Jon's Team is empowered to handle all aspects of the work.. They all have 'specialty' area's that they focus on but no matter what day or what time I arrive unannounced with a new project there is someone there in a managerial role that knows me, has a sense of my business and will put the project right into production. The prices at Color Copy Center are half (literally half) what FedEx Kinko's charges, they have ridiculously fast turn around (I've had mounted posters finished the same day!), and the customer service is phenomenal! They handle the majority of the jobs in-house and the people who work there actually care, have you tried to get decent customer service from one of those chain shops? not going to happen. I came by a month or so ago for new passport pics as my current one had of course long since expired. Now while I'm an American and pretty much every place that does passport photos knows the standard size for ours these guys can do proper passport pictures for any country and they cost about the same price as anywhere else. I went to Color Copy Center when I needed about 500 pages of copies with binding. The cost ended up being about 30% less than the quote I got from FedEx/Kinko's. Make sure you go to their website, where you can print a coupon for 15% off your first copy/print order. They also do passport photos. There was a bit of a wait when I came in since there were only two people working, but the employees were friendly and got the job done correctly. I've gone to Color Copy Center for multiple jobs and every time I walk away happy. They are able to do small personal print jobs to massive orders quickly and more important, accurately. The shop has a "mom and pop shop" feel especially being located in the charming Park Square Building. Disappointed. People were friendly, but prices for what I needed (a color photo) were ridiculous. $2 for 1 picture, vs 29c at CVS? Plus, they printed in on a sheet of paper, and said if I wanted the photo cut out of the sheet, it would cost me $15 dollars. The quality was bad and grainy. Thats ridiculous. At least the guy said I could do it myself (cut the photo out of the 8x11 sheet of paper) with their tools. But still? They should have told me to begin with that they do not do color photos!
