Time to get together and paint our bowls!
Tammy L.

My daughters planned a pottery wheel class at Clay Monet for my birthday. We had 6 family members & it was the best time!! Marla is a knowledgeable wheel class teacher & has the patience of an angel. A couple weeks after, we all got together again & had a glazing/painting party. It was a great way to get together & enjoy our family time being creative! We highly recommend this venue for families or individuals to escape too.

We loved our time at Clay Monet! My boyfriend wanted to book a private pottery class for the two of us for Valentine's Day. When he went to reserve all of the sessions were booked, so he messaged and they said they would let him know when more were available. They followed through and right when more classes were available, he got a message and was able to book our spot. We had so much fun during our class. The owner was knowledgable and made the class so much fun for us. It was way more difficult than it looked, but with her guidance, our bowls ended up looking fantastic, despite never doing anything like this before. So excited to go back to paint and will definitely be back in the future for more classes. Such a cute, local place, great for date nights.

This is a fun place for a date or get together. You are never too old to dust off your creativity and make something. Instead of meeting up at Starbucks, meet here and chat while you paint a mug, martini glass, plate, etc. Kids love this place as well. They have camps and birthday parties, or you can just go in for a fun surprise after school. There are many price options for pieces and you don't have to pay extra for materials like some other places. If you are looking for a unique gift, they have professionally painted pieces and custom designed items as well.

Enjoyed spending some time here this afternoon painting pre-fired pottery. Some items were pretty expensive, considering the size of the pieces. Overall more expensive than other places I've been before. I selected a small vase (in picture) and it was $30. They had a good variety of pieces to choose from as well as paint selections. A few members of our group had to ask for thinner paint after starting their project unfortunately since it was very thick and difficult to spread evenly. The workers were quick about thinning the paint upon request. They had a good sized studio that easily accommodated most group sizes, with tables to seat 6-14. Excited to see how my piece turns out after being in the kiln, however they said it may take 2 weeks. Some of their pieces come from other countries, mine was actually from China. This was slightly disappointing because I thought it was a local type place, and considering the price. They take walkins which is nice.

Lots of choices! This is the hardest part for kids.

This is the 2nd pottery painting party my daughter had and this year we had it at Clay Money from a friend's suggestion. Reserving a party is so easy with their website calendar. You select the party package and put a $25 hold on your credit card (they will charge this amount if you are a no-show. Its not a deposit). A staff person will call you a week before to confirm the party and get a final count. We arrived for the party and 3 female high school staffers took over. They were very good with the kids and managed the party well - I was impressed. This was a party for 6-8 year olds and we painted for over an hour. We had enough time to have snacks and drinks. I could've tried to squeeze in the cake and song but I just let the kids be...Everyone was having fun.

The people that work there are very helpful and fun. I do some major painting on my pieces so I'm really glad that the studio fees are included with the price of the piece your working on. You'er able to return to finish as many time as needed, and the pricing is good. I enjoy the time I paint and with the friendly people it is a very good experance.

On a personal note, Robin also found out I was an author, bought my most recent book, and put the book front and center, for her staff and our guests to see. It meant so much to me. The starting range to paint a blank ceramic is about 6 bucks, the cost does go up depending on the size, and or character. I saw some larger items for 22 bucks. This was a fun way to get out of the house, do something fun, creative, and expressive. Once your blank ceramic is purchased, they have multiple paint stations available. They provide the paint, the paint brushes, cups of water, and a plastic apron to cover your clothes. My eight year old loved the idea of the different colors. My two year old decided to mix all of her paint colors together. (We are working on her artistic skills) They also have really good deals on party packages and an exclusive party room. Apparently they make slim, paper art, canvases, and spray paint/graffiti art. The host was super nice, friendly, and informative. The kids enjoyed themselves and we will definitely be back.

The owner, Robin, and one of the other employees were fantastic at leading a group of 21 first grade girls through painting a mermaid tail (there were so many choices for the canvas painting - my daughter happened to choose this one). They can do them more or less complex based on the age group of the party. Robin was truly fantastic to work with. She took care of everything, including ordering pizzas from elsewhere in the mall. I brought the paper goods and cupcakes and everything else was handled. We were in a party room in the back that is utilitarian but also decorated. I definitely appreciated that there were separate tables for the art and the eating! I was perfectly happy to not be out in the front of the store with the general public. And the price was totally reasonable given everything that they did for us. Would definitely host another party here! We've also come on a random day just to do a walk in ceramic painting, which was also great. Lots of selections at all sorts of different price points. You can also do walk in canvas painting.

We eventually ended up forgoing this year because she's still so young she wouldn't fully appreciate the experience, but plan on going for some Mommy and me time. Even when we decided to pass on holding the party there, after we had filled out the form and not yet put in the deposit, they were so understanding. They get high ratings, they're located conveniently in a mall where if you have youngers you can go to the playgrounds in the mall, and if you have olders, they can walk around and do a little independent shopping. Looking forward to visiting soon!

It should be noted that this review takes place at the location on 7th street and they have since moved but I feel confident in saying the overall atmosphere and experience will remain the same. I regret I do not have any pictures of the new location on 6th Street but it also is very nice. They went out of their way to make the party area special (which they decorate nicely for an small extra fee) and were helpful in instructing the kids (and adults). They stood by ready to help without being obtrusive or overbearing and were relaxed and fun to talk to. There are different prices of party packages but all include different options of pottery to paint. This party package includes the painting. If you wish to have food you can bring pizza and they have a neat deal with Kaiser's pizza (I'll also review) who will deliver and give you a discount if you're having a party at Alpaca. This is a very cool option if you're looking for something interesting and fun that is outside of standard birthday party venue. We opted for the ceramics painting (there were 3 generations in our party), and the selection of ceramic ware they have to choose from is very nice. No old looking, 70s-style outdated stuff -- it was hard to choose -- from bowls, plates, vases, figurines, candle holders, mugs. Also, the selection of paint is very current as well (no primary red-yellow-blue) and the chart was very helpful in imagining what the finished fired piece would look like. We came on a Saturday morning, and there was plenty of bustling activity. Several young people were doing the cream crafts which were all these super cute charms that they were gluing with colored icing (adhesive?) to frames, or mirrors, or jewelry boxes. I might want to do that myself another time. Ruby helped to set us up and explained the paints, how many coats to do, as well as the process to complete and pick up the items (takes a few weeks). We spent a very relaxing morning painting and conversing. You could probably just walk in, but I would suggest making a reservation on a weekend morning.
