Love the whole experience! From the staff down to the assortment of pottery pieces to paint!

What a fun and unique date night experience! We wanted something new to try and went to one of these growing up so wanted to respark our creative sides and try it out. They have a ton of options and it's nice to be able to pick something that you might actually use for your house. (I ended up with a turtle dish that is being used as a jewelry holder!) There's no time limit and walk-ins are welcome, we went around 7:30 at night. The girls working there were super friendly and explained everything to us, only thing is I wish they didn't accidentally cover up our numbers with paint since I couldn't remember which was which. Not too sure why there is such a negative review about the pricing, they're very upfront about pricing and there is plenty of options around the 20$ mark. would I recommend taking younger kids here? Probably not. But older kids would have such a fun time and get really proud seeing their work finalized. read more

This might be fine for a girls night out, but for a children's activity this was ridiculously expensive. We were looking for something fun to do with our grandchildren and brought 4 children 5 and under for a fun morning. The kids were in and out in under 20 minutes and it cost us almost $200! Each child was charged an $11 sitting fee in addition to the cost of the item they chose to paint. The kids chose small kid appropriate items of little animals that cost $30-50 each. we walked away feeling scammed instead of like we had the fun morning. we we're hoping for. read more

I have two daughters who are not close in age and don't like to do a lot of the same things. Going to Color Me Mine is something that they both love and enjoy. We have gone several times but this last time we went I actually decided to paint. I'm not artistic by any means and I don't paint. I have to say that this outing with my daughter was very therapeutic for me. I have a gnome obsession so I decided to go with a gnome cup. I took my time painting and I can't wait to get my cup back. How does this place work? You pay a fee per person which is $8. You pick out your ceramic. They have a lot of to choose from. Whether it's something small and simple to big and elaborate.., they have it. You pick out the colors of paints you'd like to use and write the paint the paint numbers on the paint pallet and they bring you the paints. It's easy peasy. We have been always been greeted right away, the employees are friendly and attentive. They take the time to explain the process and they are available if you need anything. The studio is bright and airy and I love the tables by the windows. Once you are finished painting you leave everything, including your piece on the table. You pick up the finished piece in a week or so. They text you when it's ready for pick up. This is a fun, indoor activity for all ages. Highly recommend it. read more

I've been coming to color me mine ever since I was little. It was always a great way for me to bond with my dad, and even now I paint with friends and other family member's. We always have a good time The pricing is pretty up front: $8 painting fee, which is fair. In exchange you receive great customer service, the brushes as well as the time you take to paint the ceramic! That $8 plus the price of the ceramic (the price is on the bottom of each piece) all for an afternoon of fun and relaxation, plus a ceramic you get back in a couple of days - I would say it's definitely worth it! This is my most recent experience: I am currently attending school in Ohio, and my best friend and have been painting for fun, so I asked my mom if she would bring us some pieces to paint. She did, it was so much fun! And so relaxing- a nice break from the stress of engineering. We were provided with plenty of paint, brushes, etc. The take and paint is such a great idea! We sent the pieces back to get fired, we got them back the next time my parents came up, and our pieces turned out great. I used the speciality glaze, which costs a bit extra but it's worth every penny! It gives the piece texture and you put it on just like any other paint. I love color me mine and would 10/10 recommend it, whether you are taking out or sitting in for an afternoon of fun! read more

Just as a heads up, this review is coming from a person who is not very artistically talented. We came to this establishment for my daughters, seventh birthday party and they were extremely accommodating. We wanted a birthday party that was small and intimate for the kids and this place knocked it out of the park. It started off with them accommodating us because of the mistake I made. I originally thought the booking was from 11:30 to 1 PM, but it was from 11 till 12:30 pm. They were more than willing to change the time to meet the needs of our guest. Once we were there, Katherine, the owner did a great job of helping the kids pick something out and help them paint and give them tips on how to make their projects great. This was an excellent birthday party and I want to go back there and paint myself. Thank you for making my daughter's seventh birthday a memorable one. read more

While I'm an admirer of the arts, I am not remotely creative myself. But the success of businesses such as Color Me Mine gives me hope that there is a large segment of the population that wants an alternative to playing on the phone. This is not a cheap outing, and when I bring my family of four here, it usually comes to over 100 bucks. But lovely creations are made, and it's worth the week's wait to see what you painted come out shiny. One can choose to paint something practical, like a piggy bank, or something purely decorative, such as a dolphin jumping over a wave. A great way to soend a couple of hours. read more

For what it is, it works. While it might be as creative to some as paint-by-numbers, the creations some regular patrons have made are worthy of museum inclusion. There couldn't be a better way to introduce and encourage kids to play with paint, and there's always a party going on. The staff often helps kids achieve their best work possible so they can feel proud of what they take home. One girl showed us a technique that involved having paint-filled soap bubbles pop on a dish -- try it! So fun. As a semi-regular (having gone half a dozen times to this location alone), I will say that the service is inconsistent. Several staffers will go out of their way to help you, while one was extremely rude and disrespectful to me (which, after having spent several hundred dollars here, struck me as a bit of an insult). read more

My daughter has been asking to go to Color Me Mine and we finally got the chance. They have a large variety of pottery to choose from for a large range of ages. The girls working there were very helpful and friendly and we had a great time painting. The only down side is that it is a lot more pricey than I had expected. Reguardless, we had a really nice time and will consider coming back again. read more

Had a party at Color Me Mine for 13 people in October. It was a great experience! We all have never done this before and Cody was super helpful and knowledgeable on showing us painting tips and suggestions. He spent a lot of time with us. The place was organized and clean. We came in rather late around 6:30. Paris was very patient, accommodating and explained everything so well. It's a fun time for even adults. I picked a mug and I'm sure it's going to come out great! I would recommend this for anyone who likes to be creative and who has about $30 to spend. It was a good time for me and my friends and I'm sure we'll be back. Complaints: The brushes are really worn out. I suggest bringing your own. And the paint selections are kind of small and mixing colors to make new colors isn't really an option if you want it to show up on the pottery. read more

This is a great place to do a girls night out! I went with about 4 other friends one evening and it was so much fun!! So bummed to have to give a fellow female owned business owner a this review! Took my 9 year old daughter around Christmas time and we NEVER received a reminder to pick up. Covid happened and everything got shut down. Still a bit apprehensive to leave the house we went in last week to pick up our items, I was told they no longer had it. They tried to convince me they called but they did not! Left a message the owner Katherine who called me back a few days later. I explained what had happened and how disappointed my as daughter was but as business owner myself I understand things happen and they lost her stuff. She said to come in and repaint... we went back in the next day, she was not there but had left a note to for me to get 10% off. I was honestly so offended and shocked by this, But walking out would only break my daughters heart again since they lost her original "master pieces" this was not an option. We originally spent $60 on Products we never got and now being charged an additional $60 minus 10% because a "female owned" business is sloppy, careless and has no customer service! To further explain my point to the manager who was very rude and defensive and unwilling or able to assist, I tipped him $20 to further prove it has nothing to do with money, it's about how you make people feel! And btw the cost of the China ceramic crap you paint color is literally pennies on the dollar which further this business owner has absolutely no business being in business! read more

I discovered Color Me Mine about 8 months ago and I have become a regular! I have made some great pieces and presents and always get the help I need to complete my projects. I was on a mission to make mugs for my team members and I had so much fun creating these and went there 2 - 3 days a week! The staff was so fun and encouraging to me and make me feel super welcome! I enjoy the folks who work there as well - Jessica is a star and is always willing to go the extra mile! I love it when the birthday parties go on because the kids have so much fun and bring such a light to the place! My friend and I go there regularly and we have brought dinner in and have had great nights laughing and painting. I highly recommend it for everyone! read more

I am so happy that I decided to take my niece and nephew to Color Me Mine Naperville recently. We had not painted pottery before and were somewhat intimidated thinking that none of us is very artistic. From the minute we were greeted by the owner to the time we left after painting in studio we were put at ease. We even thought we were pretty good painters. My niece painted a piggy bank while my nephew painted a dragon. While they were creating their masterpieces I painted a coffee mug and coasters. I cannot recommend Color Me Mine enough to anyone of any age. The staff and their commitment to customer service made turned our experience into memories. I took my mom here for Mother's Day, and we had a lot of fun. I'd been to one similar before, and it's a great activity, even if you're not very artistic (I'm not.) My only complaint is that some of the small pieces were a little pricey for what they were, in my opinion. I thought about painting a ring holder, but for how much it was, I might as well pick something bigger. read more

"Color Me Mine" is a fun outing to take kids. My daughter and I had a great time choosing and painting our pottery. I gave this place three stars because of the price and tipping. There is a $10 studio fee per person, on top of the price of the pottery (pieces range from $8 for something small and go up from there). One would think that the $10 studio fee covers the paint and studio time. This is reasonable. At the end of our experience, I went to pay ($48 for two pieces of pottery), and was surprised to see a line for "tipping". I tipped 10%, and got some attitude by the employee (whose only service was bringing me the paint that I had paid for). I understand that the pieces are glazed, but I would think that the $10 per person fee should cover this service. In addition, I had read on the website that there were stencils and that an employee would sit down with us to help us make our pieces look great. Nobody gave us any attention except to bring one round of paint when we started. I used to work in the service industry, and always tip 20%-25%, but I feel that a 10% tip for this kind of "service" is fair, and I didn't appreciate the attitude. read more

They made us wait 30 minutes for a table while one of their fellow employees took up two tables for her and her date that in total would have fit 8 people. They were also very audible when saying that a reservation was part of the perks of working there. Cody, "the head honcho", then sat down next to us to explain the process. Instead of giving us his attention mid explanation he started up a conversation with the employee who was taking up the two tables. During our wait a group of six people were turned away since there wasn't any tables. Considering we averaged $30 per item painted turning away six people seems like a high price for an employe to take up two tables. During our customization experience we asked Cody for more color. He said sure and did not return again in the next two hours. We eventually just started just getting our own paint. We did have one of the other employees come and help us only after we couldn't find the color in the cabinet. All the brushes we were given to choose from looked as if they were donated from the local kindergarten. The bristles were worn down so short they just smeared paint everywhere. There was no way keep the paint where it was intended. My wife still left a tip even though they promptly made us pay half an hour before they were about to close because they wanted to close out their register. My wife finally agreed to start using Yelp after this experience. I'm glad it wasn't my idea to take her there for mothers day. read more

What a great place to have a kids party. I don't have kids yet, but there was a party when my fam and I came here and it looked like everyone was having fun. The girls are really knowledgeable and nice. They know their paint really well. It's a good time to come and paint whatever you need for a gift, your house, etc. I will definitely come here again .. We booked a birthday party (with Host) for my daughter and spent the majority of the evening chasing her around for paint and questions. There was not one moment of the evening that one of the 10 girls in our group was not waiting for something. One of the people in the studio was a girl who works there but she was there with her boyfriend and off the clock but continued to try and help us knowing we were getting minimal help from the on duty staff. Now today we go and pick up our pieces and one of them was not ours. When we called Cody the manager was rude and condescending he never once asked what he could do to help he spent the entire conversation trying to tell us it was our piece and after the phone conversation ended he called back 30 minutes later to inform us he found our piece. If this gentleman is the face of you brand for this location you are in a bad place. read more

We had a great experience at Color Me Mine. I took my 2 year old and 4 month old to make plates for Father's Day for their dad and grandpas. We were able to get the baby's footprint and the toddler's handprint on each plate. The staff was extremely kind and worked with my sons so well. They helped us to have great gifts even through a huge meltdown. The facility is nice and well kept and the prices are great. Thanks Color Me Mine! We'll definitely be back in the future! read more

Twice we went there with our small children did a project and paid additional for them to do the writing. Both times the did it incorrectly! First time even though the color was written correctly on my paperwork (red) he said oh I didn't see it and just did it in black. Second time I wanted Merry Christmas at the top of my plate and 2018 at the bottom. And again they screwed it up by putting both on the top. Disappointed with their service. read more

Terrible place for a child's party! We had the displeasure of having our daughters birthday at this facility in early June and to say we were less than thrilled with our experience is an understatement. We chose this place thinking it would be a fun time for our daughter and her friends (ages 4-6) and when we booked and plonked down our $50 deposit, we were told by the high school girl who did her sales pitch that they would call a week before to confirm (didn't happen) that they would provide plates, napkins, and a staff member to cut cake (didn't happen but luckily I called 3 days prior to event to confirm booking so was able to run out and get plates etc), was told painting would last approximately 1 hour with 1/2 hour for cake and clean up...estimating a total party time of 1.5 hours. Again...didn't happen. We were provided one high school aged girl to assist the 10 kids at our party (fortunately 2 Moms stayed so she and I were able to help out) and apart from literally dishing out paint and telling the 4-6 year old once that they "had to do 3 coats" we were left to our own devices. One of the 6 year olds who had done this before even had to ask the girl "assisting" us for extras such as decorative sponges. Painting of the pieces were completed by all children within a half hour at which point the employee "assisting" us had vanished. I finally found her at the front desk where I asked if we should do caked next and was told "um, yeah, sure". Nobody offered to help with this process and the staff didn't even participate in singing Happy Birthday as many party facilities do. We had zero help with any clean up whatsoever however. I was told to tell the party guests parents to come back after 1 1/2 hours however in total this party only lasted 1 hour so with a half hour to kill and no further offer to do anything with the kids from staff (there were 4 wandering around, including the Manager, Cody who sat in the middle of the store working but not directing his staff) we decided to play "heads up 7 up". We were charged $16 per piece + a $6 per child fee + 12% gratuity with our $50 deposit applied to the back end of this. In total we paid $209 for something that we didn't feel should have cost anywhere near this so early this week, I called to speak with Cody and find out if the time we had been allocated and the time this party actually took was normal. I left a message in the a.m. and then called back in the afternoon. I had to call back 7 more times as his staff kept telling me he was either with a customer or would put me on on hold and I would get "disconnected". It was not until I lost my temper with the sales assistant and told them I would contact the BBB if I did not get a call back that day, that Cody was suddenly able to call me back. What I learned very quickly is that Cody not only has very few customer service skills but he also does not want to hear anything anyone might have to say that is negative about his business. He will talk over the top of you, try and put words in your mouth and if he does offer any potential admission to an error, he will blame his staff. He takes very little responsibility himself and he told me that it was our job to follow up with them during the party and figure out what to do next with our little party guests. He also went on to tell me "There is not possible way to determine how long it will take a person to paint a particular piece. There has not been a scientific math equation determined for that yet. Even the most world famous artists can't determine that and anyone with any basic business sense should understand this" So not only does he not have any customer service skills but he is condescending, rude and belittling to those that do spend money in his store and in turn basically pay his salary. He said he was shocked we had complained as nobody had ever made a complaint to him before yet then 5 minutes later stated that he had had a woman complain 2 months ago to him about not being able to book a reservation for 4 people and he proudly stated to me "I Informed her that this is not a restaurant, I can't reserve a table for a group of that small..she should have known that" and then snickered down the phone. After him refusing to give us any form of refund and 25 minutes of listening to him talk in circles, he said he would look into things further and call me no later than 10:00 a.m. the next day...that was 4 days ago and surprise we still have not heard from Cody. We were told it would take a week to get the pieces for our party but I got a call 10 min after hanging up with Cody to say they were ready. I sent my Husband to pick them up as I had no interest in dealing with Cody..or his obnoxious attitude in person but surprise..my Husband was told that Cody had left the building. I would avoid this place at all costs for party or otherwise..total ripoff on many levels. read more

Very disappointing experience! On the day of my daughter's party, we had one attendant with no experience on how to handle a large party(there were about 20ppl) in attendance. She was all over the place, so slow with refilling paints and running the party. We ran over our time and was asked by out host to move over to the other side of the store to finish up our cake and gather our gifts because they had another party... While rounding up so we can start leaving, the manager, walks into the store and approaches me in a confrontational manner, in front of my guest with an attitude he asked me what me and my party was still doing at the place not knowing that our host had asked us to move over to the other side to finish up our cake and pack up our gifts. The manager was so unprofessional and at one point was posturing towards me. My husband had to step in. Word to the wise: DO NOT HOST A PARTY at this place. They have no experience with handing a large crowd and the manager has zero customers service skills. Paid over $500 for my party and it was the worst money spent. Will never return or recommend this place for a party. read more

This was a first for my family. I went with my husband and 3 yr old daughter and we all painted a piece. It was a fun experience and the staff was very nice and helpful. Just like everyone else, I felt it was a bit expensive. I ended up paying about $90 for 2 adults, 1 child studio fees and the pieces we painted and tip. I completely agree with the above review. I found the staff to be mediocre at best. They were pleasant enough, but not all that interested in my daughter and I .... And for the money, they should be! Pricing was very misleading (we also paid $48 after being told $10 for adults, $6 for kids). When I questioned the price at checkout, the girl just shrugged. They could have done better explaining the fees to people who had never done this before. 2 stars because my daughter enjoyed herself, but overall, not worth the money. Epic fail times two. We hadn't been in a year-tradition to go at least once a year. Our favorite employee is gone and the manager is now Cody-who seems to be a big part of the problem. We did two pieces, nothing that they said would be done post studio time was done-and it was offered by them, not requested. Felt they tried to make right the best they could, but Cody blamed his employees, advising they are high schoolers and need to be more aware. Fast forward, friend asks for birthday party suggestions for her daughter-I was an idiot and suggested Color Me Mine. The "high school employees" couldn't get the birthday party before to leave, so my friend's daughter's party had to start a half hour later. Parents came to get their kids at the scheduled time, due to soccer games, baseball games, etc-and that's when Cody strolls in the shop, and walks right through to the back. I would say lack of leadership and management is the issue here-such a shame, as we used to love this place! read more
