My friends surprised me with a little paint and sip for my birthday. It's located in Burr Ridge and it's a cute little spot. It's my first time so I didn't know what to expect. The workers was nice and lots of ceramic figures to choose from. I like that it is self served and you just do whatever you want after their initial introduction so pay attention. Lots of paint to choose from and the workers were just doing their own thing. We brought our own wine so we sipped and paint and it was so relaxing catching up. My girlfriends and I went here and had a blast! We decided to paint the same plates. The space itself is small but they have a good amount of seating. There are so many items to choose from to paint. We enjoyed our time. Our order was ready within 6 days for pickup. We were told that the paint may appear different after it gets glazed and whatnot. Absolutely disappointed with the experience that we had at the burr ridge location, as soon as we walked in the employees seemed bothered and very rude! So we decided to ignore it since we just assumed they were having a bad day. We sat down and we felt very rushed throughout the entire time, it literally got to the point where we felt like walking out. The employee kept coming to our table telling us that we needed to wrap it up 15 minutes before closing and we didn't see her do this to the other tables! Cute place and is fun, but we were not shown how to do the painting techniques so our items did not come out as expected and they are not cheap items. We had a party reservation and were told sorry another party came early so you have to hurry and check out , when we were not done! I had grandparents then rushing and upset... Ridiculous!!! They also told us we could byob but it had to be in a thermos not in a bottle. So we did not risk bringing anything, just so that everyone else around us had all brought bottles of alcohol and wine. Very frustrating staff at this location. If going to this location bring whatever you want to eat and drink as other were able to and do NOT let them rush you out, especially if you made a prior reservation. As a manager, you have the responsibility to make a safe and enjoyable experience both for the guest and your employee, along with maintaining profitability of the business. For managers to make their employee cry in front of her tables is rude and obscenely petty. If you had a reasonable cause for reprimanding her, it would be wise to do it in the back privately and professionally. Your actions will cost you customer retention and profit. I've been to a few paint your own pottery places and I can confidently say this has been the worst one. For the quality of the product and the service this place is WAY TOO OVERPRICED!!! Also the place is so small you will definitely be bothered by the other parties there. You're better off going to something cheaper with more space such as Color Cocktail Factory. Friends of mine have found their painted products BROKEN once they come back to pick them up after they've been handled by the employees to be glazed (you leave your painted piece and come back after some time to pick it up). The owners seem rude and unwilling to help their employees so they're left running around which makes it take ages for you to get some paint for your pottery. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!! read more

I remember coming here a while back. Basically if you tip just remember the manager gets the most tips out of the employees. His logic? Whoever works the most hours, gets the most tips and guess who makes more than the employees? That's right the manager obviously. Unfortunately employees have to share their tips with everyone that works whatever day they get the tips even if the other person doesn't work at all. (This still include the manager even if he does not work those days at all.) Anyways, this place is nice for families but quite unprofessional sometimes. The rudest girl that works at this establishment. An employee with red hair who is 20 years old thinks she is the mask police. The second someone get a drink she runs over and immediately rudely tells everyone lift up your mask immediately after drinking. This place is very expensive and this particular employee acts like she is annoyed to be working there and takes it out on customers! Have been to many paint your own pottery places. It's definitely a franchise feel. Desent selection. Price per person and then the cost of the piece. Only get to choose 5 colors and they bring it to you. Brushes could be updated and no lazy susans to help paint if needed. Took the normal few days to pick up projects. When picking up I had to trust they were mine or not damaged for they were all wrapped up tight. Cost was a little less then a few places but still not an affordable activity to do regularly. For us it was and average of $35 per person. All in all it was an ok time. read more

A high chair was available for my daughter and they helped me put her footprint on my project. Employee looked and acted bothered that we were there. She seemed like she wanted to go home or was in the "I need coffee nobody talk to me" kind of hour of the day. Brought two 5 year olds and the vibe was pessimistic and Debbie downer. If you work at a place with kids, it would be cool if you were a little more upbeat, cheerful, or minimum smiling and warm/welcoming? I wish I did something else for $100 dollars with our two hours like chuckee cheese. It's an expensive place so it's not like you aren't paying and tipping for the atmosphere and space. Also, I get the mask thing. I definitely do. But we were the only ones there and we couldn't take them off when sitting at the table? Frustrating.... if i could give this place negative stars, i would. never have i ever been disgusted from beginning to end with service. this place is not going to last. i am floored by my experience. i brought my two kids here to paint. we were the only ones there. yet, could she be bothered with helping us, like, maybe give us some "tips and tricks" or not have to make us come to her for paint colors? no, sorry, she was busy at another table working on her own pieces. really? i had to go change my own water for the paints, get appropriate sized brushes, clean my own sponge, because i felt like i was disturbing her from doing her own painting. then a few more parties showed up with kids. one of the kids, surprisingly, dropped her piece. omg!! really? does this never ever happen? you would think not, based on this female employee's expression. make the kid feel worse, why don't you? then, to top it off, i come to pick up my pieces a couple of weeks later, and the glaze on the bowl was not all encompassing. yes, that's right. a basic cereal bowl, with sections of missing glaze. sigh. this business will not last. read more

I NEVER would have set foot into this place had it not been for my friend who is a major Smurf collector having to get the new Smurfette figurine they had. There were tons of ceramic pieces to choose from. You pick from the giant wall full of hundreds of different pieces. They have figurines, bowls, mugs, plates, mirrors, brushes, and anything and everything in between. My wife chose a mug. I wasn't feeling particularly artsy, so I just watched. It took the two of them about two hours to paint their pieces. The friendly girl brings dollops of paint in whatever color you choose, as well as brushes and water. She was very pleasant and helpful. The fee to use the "studio" as they called it was $10 and the ceramics range from $10-$25 and up. I think it's a great activity for kids, and can't really say anything bad about it. Not my cup of tea, but great for those who love this sort of thing. read more

Awful. I was pumped to take my 4 year old daughter here for the first time... Woefully disappointed. No direction offered by staff on what to do, and acted annoyed when you asked what to do! Also you have to wait almost a week to go pick up the item you paint... We won't be recommending or rushing back. I hope this place has a change in ownership / management for their own good. Sometimes people have a bad day. When I do I come here to relax and unwind. I have never had a bad experience here. They are always friendly and helpful. They are attentive, somewhat like a waitress checking on tables. I cannot imagine who would have been working when people have had unpleasant experiences. Please do not judge by others negative reviews. I have, however had similar experiences at the store in Naperville. Maybe the rude employees work there. I will continue to come to this location to work on my piece in progress, since it does take time do do a nice job. I spent about 8 hours on my last piece. Another plus is that I can choose larger pieces knowing that there is no rush to finish. You take your piece with you and come back another day to work on it some more, no additional fees! Walked in the door Friday night over an hour before close and got turned away. Not only did we get turned away,but the teenager who said we couldn't paint was rude and nasty with us. Needless to say not only did I point out to her that it is not listed on the website you needed to be there by, but I also let her know how rude she was. No response came from her, but I made sure to return my groupon and I will go somehere else. Very dissapointing, but did not let this girl ruin date night... Two grown adults shouldn't take more than an hour to paint. They need to hire some people wothe customer service skills. read more
