Our nail technician was really sweet... but she was SO, SO slow. My daughter got a gel manicure and pedicure, while I just got a gel manicure... and the entire process took almost 4 hours! Wow. I never write reviews, but it's important to do it this time. I literally walked away with my nails completely undone and ruined. If I'm able to attach a picture I'll do so. I sat waiting and being juggled around by 3 different technicians, who in turn remove the previous polish, chopped off pieces of the previous extensions I had just to be told they were unable to do a fill on my nails after they completely destroyed what I had on... one of the technicians smelled strongly of smoke, the other one continually said under her breath "this is not gonna work"... the entire time I observed other technicians around checking and being on their phones while clients were sitting there and waiting with their hands undone. Everything was EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! Worse service I ever had. I wasted an hour there, and I left with ruined hands to try to fix at home. Please don't waste you time and money. read more

I went in today after a rough day; a funeral, shopping, more then I wanted to deal with. Long day, needed my feets treated good! Yes, indeed. That's all I wanted. What I got was ignored. Many of the nail techs were busy, but two sat with what I believe was an off-shift nail tech and simply talked about her upcoming wedding plans; how big the rock she was going to get, how her fiance said it was gaudy, and that she counted that she NEEDED a big ring because all her sister-in-laws had big rings and Lexuses and how DARE he say it looked gaudy... ...and I stood there, not five feet away from them, got looked at twice by two of the techs who were in uniform, and completely IGNORED that I'm there, waiting to be helped, told they were too full, whatever. Now the sign on the window said WALK INS WELCOME, but I'm pretty sure they meant to write GET LOST LADY. After a few minutes of waiting for SOMEONE to care that my fifty bucks was about to walk out the door -- I finally did. So -- please, take a pass on this place and find people who want to do more then gossip with each other. read more

I really loved this place. I was surprised when I searched it and it has had such poor reviews. I found it through a friend and decided to make an appointment with Megan, the girl I was referred to. When I walked in the place smelled very strongly. It was almost intoxicating in a bad way. The front desk girl didn't even acknowledge me and finally said she would let Megan know I was there. Finally someone came over and asked if I had been helped and she led me to where I needed to be. Apparently this front desk girl won't be there much longer because she can't even manage to let the employee's know their clients are there. I had the best experience with Megan. She was very talkative and had lots of great ideas. I got the gel nails with a color over them. They look amazing and I thought the price wasn't bad. $30 for everything. I was very happy and will definitely be back. I have officially found my nail salon. By the looks of other reviews I would suggest to make an appointment ahead of time just in case and ask for Megan. I have been coming to this salon for a little over 5 years. I have also been in the beauty industry for a 13 years so I understand what to expect in a salon. These guys are a blast! Britney does my nails religiously every two weeks. I have never left unhappy. My belly actually hurts half the time I leave because we are all laughing so much! Scheduling with this salon in the past has been an issue. Several months ago we scheduled for a same day appointment and then the receptionist called us back about 30 min later and said that our nail techs that my cousin and I were scheduled with just walked out. I ran across a groupon for the salon and saw that it was under new management and we figured we'd give them a second shot. I called on 12/21 and scheduled an appointment for 12/26. My cousin also purchased the groupon and booked the for same day and same time as I did. I called on 12/26 about an hour before my appointment to confirm because I didn't receive any type of appointment confirmation. Good thing I did because they couldn't find my appointment anywhere. My cousin's was there but I was nowhere to be found. Bonnie was able to get a nail tech to stay late for my appointment and I was able to go at my scheduled appointment time. The salon is in serious need of a face lift. Due to the fact that the salon is booth rent the nail techs use all different products (using bath and body works lotion during my pedi is a no go for me, I can do that myself, up the rent and provide the basics and you'll look more professional) and it's not as tidy as it should be. The pedi was a little lack luster but understandable because it was a groupon type of service. The part that really upsets me is that I had asked to get a shellac mani and was willing to pay for the up charge (usually $15 or so at most salons). I paid $27 for the groupon (mani/pedi) and ended up having to pay $25 for the shellac add on (which I wasn't quoted until after the service). Since my services were done by two different people I tipped each of them $10. I was thinking that that was a little pricey for the shellac since there was NO mani. She just drilled my nail beds and applied the product. No cuticle work, no massage, nada... I figured that because these girls are booth rent and me being a hairstylist I know they don't make too much off of the groupons and would let the up charge and lack of a full mani pass and try one more time. Today (01/08) I text the nail tech who did my mani and asked if she was available this Sunday (1/13) and what she regularly charges for a gel mani. She responded with $25. So what exactly did the groupon originally pay for? The skimpy Bath and Body Works pedi? I paid $52.00 on my last appointment! I can go to a much nicer salon and get the same thing with better product in a cleaner, more modern salon for just a few bucks more. Very disappointed. We will not be returning. When offering the groupon there should be a clear service menu for added services. Also with the groupons the employees need to treat people as if they are full paying clients (which in my case I was). Instead of moping around about not making money off the service, up sell services (and make sure they are quality), give them an awesome experience so they come back and refer people. This could have been a great opportunity for new business since I am in the industry as well an refer like crazy, but that will not be happening for Color My Nails. read more

So I've been going to CMN for about 2 years. There's been a lot of nail salons that I have visited in SLC since moving here 8/6/12. I want this to be a 5 star review but when I really take a hard look at my experiences - I am truly underwhelmed and none of the techs I frequented are still there. This is like the nail purgatory where they go to hone their skills after school before getting a real job. I've had acrylics done by Marcela and they consistently broke and had to be repaired. Which she never charged me for but its an inconvenience for me to have to return every week. I've had them wax my brows a couple of times and the esthetician was very good. I wish she was still there or that I knew where she went because she was great. My hubbers and I recently went for pedicures and we were pretty disappointed. They didn't clean around the nails or shape them at all and one of the techs ran her mouth the whole time and boasted numerous times that she gave the best pedicure. I wanted to laugh and tell her I've had better pedicures from my 6 year old boy. I probably won't go back anymore. It's just not worth the money. I like to be able to communicate effectively with the person doing my nails so I can get what I want but unfortunately I'm better off with the barely any english Asian nail salons that get you the most bang for your buck. read more

The pricing was great, the work was decent, but it was a TWO HOUR manicure. I recently moved here from out of state and have been used to 45 minutes max for a regular acrylic fill. The girl who did my nails was pleasant and did a decent job, but for some reason she chose to manually file down the nails rather than using the electric drill. It. Took. For. Ever. I've been to a few different girls at this salon and they've all been good but they work so SLOWLY. It's rare I'm out of there in an hour and a half. I get that time frame for a full set but fills should not take so long. (For reference I wear medium almond-shaped nails with no design.) They seem to mostly work with nail files and it really slows the appointment down. The other issue with this place is how the girls all make their own prices. I completely understand this, especially when they're creating stiletto nails and other ones that require a lot of work. Just be sure you ask up front so you don't get stuck paying $35 for an average fill. I'll probably keep going because it's 5 min from my house, but if I wanted to drive further I'm sure I could find a better salon. read more

I really wanted to give this place a raving review but I just can't. My nail tech was super sweet and although I really liked her I just felt like a lot was lacking. When I first walked in I didn't love that they had a receptionist that looked like she literally just rolled out of bed 5 minutes before. Not only did she not put any effort into the way that she was going to be representing the business that day, she was literally rubbing her eyes and yawning. Then came the blank stare as if she had no idea what I could be standing front of her for. I said I needed a fill and a pedicure her and she said she didn't have anything until noon it was about 10 AM. After saying I would just go elsewhere, she offered an immediate opening for a pedicure. Odd that 20 seconds ago there was nothing. So she said to have a seat and the nail tech would be right with me. I browsed the "boutique". Although it had some up to date styles, it was dusty/dirty as if everything had been sitting for months. Someone should clean that jewelry every once in a while. That along with the furniture makes the salon look old and not well taken care of. Out walks Kelly, ready to get started. Told me to take my time to pick a polish. I really liked their selection so that was a plus. However, I really wish that they had a consistent protocol for the pedicures. She did nothing to my cuticles- no real nail shaping, just quickly clipped my nails and moved on. The massage was probably the shortest EVER which lets be honest here, is probably the #1 reason I even get pedicures. There was nothing at all that stood out about this service. Aside from how sweet kelly is. It was nice talking with her. The salon is really outdated and is in desperate need of a facelift. For the salon I would have given 1 star but since I really liked kelly I'll bump it up. I'll be visiting again and hopefully I can update this to a better rating after that. read more

I am really dumbfounded by reviews but maybe the press-on arty nails are what you go here for? Was In the area for work and needed a mani, got a bad feeling early on and should have left when i saw that all of the polish on the polish wall was gloppy and old (separated or dried up) but i pulled a bottle out of my purse that i travel with and continued on. The tech was sweet but (a) held the file like it would bite her and (b) used another file to "buff" my nails (buffers are smooth and bring a shine) andni stopped that after two nails when i realized what she was doing - did not want several weeks of brittle nails while the damage grew out on. The cuticle oil bottle was dirty and nearly empty but she smeared it on my knuckles anyway. When it came time to putting polish on, it was gloppy and unevenly applied at the back of the nail. But she did get ample polish on the surrounding skin. I just took off what she had done and left half way through. Two stars because she tried and because the nail art was nice. If you are into that then maybe go here. read more

This school has been very inconsistent as I have attended it. Instructors always quitting, a student who graduated months before me becoming an instructor without getting an instructors license yet, so she's not legally allowed to do what she is doing. We get poor quality equipment in our student kit and have to pay extra for materials they should have provided. I had a classmate steal a lot of my belongings. Each instructor teaches us completely different rules and methods so I was always confused about how to do things. They would change test dates last minute or tell us we did not have a test that day, when they told us the previous day we had one. I was completely humiliated the night I graduated, they would not let me have my certificate and papers for my licensing because they said I had a $25 fee which I owed, and they had already closed their register, but did not make me aware of the fee before they closed the register so I could pay it. They also spelled my name wrong on my graduation certificate. The week before I graduated there were several nights where the instructors were sitting in the office doing each others nails and were not out on the floor helping students. I would not recommend them to anyone. You will leave feeling mixed up and not prepared for doing nails in the real world. read more

I would like to give no star for this salon. I would not give this Salon the time of day! I have been going there off and on for many years now. I went to Amber and she did my nails the best anyone ever has! I loved all the art she did and she was quick! She was so sweet and fun to talk with. She had to move out of state so I tried someone new. three days later my nails fell off. I waited a year and went back in April, I called and scheduled my appointment with Devin for the following day. One hour before my appointment she text me to cancel. I was then able a few days later to get in with Brittany. Brittany was doing my nails. She uses hard gel and I loved how they were looking and the price was great! I was so excited that I found someone amazing to do my nails again. I scheduled a fill with her for the first part of May that she ended up needing to cancel. She did not reschedule me and then I was unable to ever get ahold of her to schedule my appointment. three weeks went by and my nails were horrible looking and she finally told me she would not do my nails because we have different beliefs. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! I DONT NEED TO BE YOUR BEST FRIEND. I AM PAYING YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. Also if you want to hear the F*** word over and over as well as all other words go to this salon.
