The teachers in the two Infant classrooms are fantastic. I have heard all sorts of horror stories from other daycare centers, and was so glad to have found one that really strives for quality. The odd time an empty food container isn't sent home or the wrong crib sheet is put into my kid's bag is irrelevant. I know my child is being taken care of, and the teachers there really love him. And I love seeing him progress with things like sign language or the noises he makes, and knowing they are helping him developmentally as well. Goddard also uses an app that allows you to get updates during the day, pictures sent to you throughout the day, and for you to send the center messages if you forgot to tell a teacher something at drop-off. Other daycare centers in the area use paper/pencil for daily reports, and provide much less information. And the pictures really help me get through my work day sometimes!

I do not recommend the Akron Goddard School for many, many reasons…read more First, my 15 month old was transitioned to an older room by himself (not in a group of peers) abruptly, with no overlap or plan in place to help him adjust to the new routines and teachers. His drop-offs got worse and worse until we removed him from the school. I later learned that there is supposed to be a written transition agreement plan signed by both the school and the parents. Second, when we made friends with other families in the same room, we learned that we were being charged $200-300 more per month for the exact same service (same number of children, same number of days/week, same room, no meals). These families were not part of any corporate or income-based discount, were not aware of being on any promotional rate, and started at the school after us, so they weren't being grandfathered into a lower rate. When we spoke to one family and asked what they paid for 3 days vs 5 days a week, they were perplexed because they had been told it was a flat rate no matter how many days they sent their child. When we tried to ask the owner why we were paying $200-300 more per month than other families, the owner would not make himself available to discuss the issue and we had to go through the director. She was kind about it but couldn't give us any explanation. When the owner finally contacted us, it was through email to tell us he would not refund our pre-paid August tuition since we left voluntarily. In the same email, he accused us of threatening the director and cced his attorney on the email. Finally, the owner lied to us during our initial tour. He told us (bragged about it, actually, which is why I remember it so clearly) that all additional activities (like soccer, dance, gymnastics for example) were free to all students because he does not want children to feel left out. This is why, he claimed, they charge a larger yearly registration fee-- to cover the additional activities. This turned out not to be true. They did charge us a larger yearly registration fee ($300) compared with other schools in the area, but we learned that any extra activities cost extra. I do not recommend the Akron Goddard School. If you are already there, I recommend asking others in your room what they pay for the same service and being very proactive with making a plan for your child to transition between rooms, because they did not look out for my child's well-being in the transition and I did not know enough at the time to insist on anything else.

She learned so much in her Pre-K class, and her teacher(s) was an angel. She never would have been remotely ready for Kindergarten if not for the education she received from All Around. She loves her school age teachers now too. My daughter struggled a little in school last year and one of the teachers who was never one of her direct teachers help coach her through the year. I am still amazed by the bond with this teacher and my daughter, because she never had to help my daughter; she was not her student. The administrators are all great, and easy to work with. This is really a great place for your little ones. They really do care for each and every kid there.

The staff have been warm and welcoming and followed our recommendations and requests without many issues. The kids appear to be well cared for and are taught basic social skills, abc's and 1-2-3's, as well as many other skills. As an example, she learned simple, basic sign language, which we had no part in teaching; however, we recognize and appreciate the skill. Especially for a young, pre-vocal toddler. They also have the kids participate in art and learning activities. Parents are given some really sweet projects, made by the kids and supervised (sometimes a lot!) by the teachers and they just started a music program and put on a Christmas show for the kids to show off their musical talent! Staff turnover has sometimes been an issue; however, as rewarding as it may be, that could NOT be an easy job! What keeps us coming back is the fact that she is happy to arrive/stay in the morning and the smile and excitement is still there in the afternoon, at pick-up time. I thank the staff and administration for the programs which they offer and the dedication to the kids which they share and would recommend AAC for childcare.

We moved in from out of state and I looked at 2 daycares. A national chain that used with a curricular approach and TLC. We chose TLC, because of the low infant to 'teacher' ratio, which is 3 to 1. The facility is nice and people were nice enough. Pricing was high for this market, but expected at that level of staffing. The first week or so were a bit of a transition, which we expected. My son didn't sleep well there and stopped holding his bottle and being as active as normal. I chalked this up to a big move and change of daycares. After about 2 weeks things started to get a little strange, whenever we picked up my son he was either sleeping or being fed. We never saw him on the floor playing with other kids. The other kids were always being fed or sleeping. Granted we weren't there long stretches of time, but I heard parents say the same thing to the workers. In week 3, we showed up to drop off my son and the infant room did not have a normal teacher. The fill in from the toddler room stated she didn't know where anyone was. She also stated she understood if we didn't want to leave him with her. All of this struck us as strange. We decided based on gut to leave. I emailed the management and expressed my concern about a lack of backup and system in place to deal with this type of situation. The reply from management was 'these things happen especially with bad weather.' The problem with this statement is that day did not have bad weather. We took the weekend to think about it and thought to give it one more shot. We tried to make an appointment with management and they kept pushing the date to later in the week. This should have been telling that they were not receptive to our concerns. We took my son to the daycare and the lead teacher was in the room. She apologized for the lack of a teacher on the prior Friday. She said the teacher who is normally there had an issue late night at her apartment. We left our son and decided my wife would go back to check. She did and the normal early morning teacher was very sick and talking to the lead teacher. They both seemed surprised my wife showed up. My wife found my son in the crib with a dirty diaper screaming. He had obviously been crying for a while. The two teachers had been in the other room talking evidently not paying attention to the crying of my son or other children. Ultimately, the number of incidents in a compressed time made us switch daycares. For some reason the management decided it was necessary to write an email telling me why all my concerns were baseless after we pulled him. Additionally, they stated no other children had been pulled in the past 11 years. This is patently false. A child at our new daycare was originally at TLC. I do not think they mistreat children, but in the week after being at TLC my son had reengaged with the new kids at his new daycare. He was scooting around laughing with the other kids and playing with the teacher. This is exactly how he interacted in his prior daycare. I am sure this review will send them through the roof, but it is all true. I am giving it 2 stars, cause the facility is nice.

Just a little over two months ago my son started at Once Upon a Daycare (right behind Jersey's) in green and I cannot tell you the night and day difference I have seen with him. While atkas is only 2, he has shown many milestone delays, especially with speech, as well as showing several austisic traits. With all of that said-- Miss Rosie has such incredible knowledge with the extra help that he has needed and I have found myself able to breathe a little bit again. I cannot say great enough things about finding this place and Miss Rosie-- but if you're looking for an affordable, helpful, fun place for your kid to go I highly recommend Once Upon a Daycare!

They charged me for my own background check -- which by law should be covered by the employer. They also deducted childcare costs from my paycheck, even though the state had already confirmed that my childcare was fully covered due to my low income from this job. When I raised these issues, management refused reimbursement. Staff are also required to purchase uniform shirts out of pocket; I bought brand new shirts that were never used, one day prior to them letting me go after bringing up saftey concerns and the daycare still refused to take them back. On top of that, teachers are expected to work even when sick, I had hand foot mouth from one of the kids, they sent someone to get me mouth wash and expected me to work as normal.. which puts both staff and children at risk. As a parent, I had safety concerns. My child was bitten, and administration had to review video footage just to determine what happened. A similar incident occurred with another child in her class only days before. The center is consistently understaffed, and management offers little help or accountability. Between the unprofessional employment practices, unsafe staffing policies, and lack of adequate supervision for children, I would strongly encourage both families and potential employees to look elsewhere. *this is specific to the alliance location, however part of my experience was with Justin Evans & he owns them all**
