This place is absolutely fantastic for the gigantic selection of cherry-filled items, but we came across their savory pie section on our last visit! After a quick drive down the canyon from Estes, we pulled off into the parking lot and headed into the cute white building where we were warmly greeted by the sole employee, and made our way through the full displays of chocolates, ciders, mini-pies and kitschy gifts to the tart cherry juice section to restock on the juice for our Dry January nightcaps. My husband came across the freezer full of the savory pies, both family-sized and single size, and we decided to give one of the smaller ones a try. We reheated it as instructed on the box and dug in to the most delicious, savory, warming pot pie I've had in a long while! What a cute shop with SO MANY CHERRY items!! On the way to Estes Park it's just a small shop along the side of the road but once inside there is pretty much anything your heart desires with cherries. We bought some cherry tea, a small cherry pie, and jam. Haven't had the tea or jam yet but that pie was DELICIOUS! We definitely will stop here again on the way to Estes Park. No bathrooms inside- but porta potties outside. The worker was kind and it was hard not grabbing a bunch of goodies but knew what we could fit into our luggage so we had to resist. Stopped in for some tart cherry juice and left with two bottles and a slice of cherry banana bread. The staff here are very friendly and helpful and the products are well stocked and visibly priced. We were able to sample a few of the juices before settling on one flavor. The tart cherry was our favorite over the black bing and we used it in a cocktail later that night! The cherry banana bread was a little disappointing. It just tasted like regular banana bread. Don't get me wrong, it was moist and delicious, but didn't taste like cherry unless you got a bite with a chunk of cherry which wasn't that often in the whole slice. The decor is fun and bright and the parking lot is small, but easily navigable. I'd definitely be interested in coming back to try some of the other pastries. read more

My spouse and I recently stopped in the Colorado Cherry Company on our way up the canyon. I've wanted to go there for a long time but we've always been a hurry to get somewhere and the store's always closed on our way back but the timing aligned finally. The store's really cute and doesn't have any stairs or steps, which is nice. They had huckleberry cordials which I've been looking for forever, plus a lot of really unique items and products. I got a cherry hand pie and my spouse got a chocolate chip cookie. I also got one of the cordial. We bought a jar of the Colorado Cherry Company pumpkin butter (very tasty) and a jar of choke cherry jam from another company; we noticed when we got home that the choke cherry jar has bible verses on it so we wouldn't buy that brand again and several other things they sold had Christian religious stuff on it too. Overall, we enjoyed our stop but we'll be more careful about what products we buy next time. read more

We couldn't resist stopping here while driving from Estes Park to Fort Collins - the exterior was so cute! Once inside, I was tempted to buy just about everything. The decor was adorable, with red bows, flowers, and curtains all over. The shop had every cherry item you can think of - pie, cider, honey, jams, chocolate, etc. as well as Colorado Cherry Company branded merchandise. I really wanted to try the pie, but they didn't have slices, and traveling with an entire pie seemed less than ideal. We ended up buying chocolate covered cherries and a bar of Cherry-Habanero dark chocolate. Both were delicious! After falling in love with the Denver location (now Legacy Pie), I wanted to check their Loveland location. With a cute exterior, I was excited to find a variety of jarred inside. For a friend I was visiting,I bought a jar of BBQ sauce, and for myself, a jar of marmalade and a cherry pie. While camping with the friend, we busted out the BBQ sauce, and everyone really loved the flavor. The cherry pie was wonderful. Great crust, juicy filling. This location is a nice field trip. Too far from Denver to visit often, but definitely a good stop if you're in the area or want to take a scenic drive to get pie. Not sure if they had any hand pies or frozen pies that day as there were none when we arrived. That was a bit of a letdown after a long drive. Cute niche shop on 34. Lived here nearly my whole life and had never been in before until yesterday. Lots of beautiful pies. Full size and then mini or snack size. I didn't even remember to take pictures of the inside because I was too busy finding gems everywhere! This is a wonderful family owned business right off the road nestled lovingly in the mountains. I wish this was near my house- the employees are wonderful and most everything in here is a homemade treasure. It's a lovely shoppe full of delicious goods. There is a private lot next to the shop with plenty of spots- didn't have any problems finding a spot in the afternoon. They are also enforcing masks, social distancing, and limiting the number of people in the store at one time. There is also hand sanitizer available in the store. This shop is so cute! It's overwhelming almost, with the amount of jams, coffee, candy, chocolate, etc. Everything is reasonably priced and I had a hard time picking- ended up with coffee, soap, and chocolate and was not disappointed! If you like cherries, then you will love this place, I have been going here for years and usually try to pick up a couple of items (like choke cherry jelly) to last me until my next visit to Estes Park. I was on a "guys" trip this time and wanted to show them this place. We drove down from Estes Park and got there about lunch. It was not busy at all, and we had a lot of time to just browse. As always, if you see something you might like, they are very willing to let you sample:) They had some fresh fried cherry pies on the counter, and they looked so good that we all bought some to go with our sandwiches that we had made for a hike. They were really good but could have used just a little more filling. They were out of my choke cherry jelly, except for the very small size, and I didn't want to have to buy several bottles. Luckily, I still have 1 bottle left at home that I bought last year. One thing I did notice was that inflation has hit this store. Prices were much higher than last year and for smaller sizes. Maybe it was a hard year in Colorado to be growing things. I hope the prices go back down. If you are in the area, it is well worth the drive to get here. So sad to rate so low after years of loving their Gluten Free pies. However, if you have allergies like me ASK for an ingredient list before you even try to order their new Gluten Free Pie. They changed their recipe and you can't really even call this a true "pie" anymore. The best name for it would be a cherry crumble and they added Cinnamon to the topping, as most crumbles would have, however I purchased two (what I thought were going to be GF pies with their old recipe) and I have a cinnamon allergy. No one told us they had changed recipes. No one told us it wasn't even a pie anymore. And most of all there is no ingredient list, so I happened to luck out because I could smell the cinnamon and called to ask. Not happy is all I have to say. read more

Even though they're not selling pie by the slice during this time, they have 'hand pies' (pie pockets essentially) and full pies for sale - lots of different fruit flavors for full pies and three amazing hand pies - blueberry, apple, and, of course, cherry. After my hike, this was the place to stop - it almost got me through my hike thinking about the pie to come. The warmed up cherry hand pie hit the spot. This place is a very bad outpost of the main Colorado Cherry Company in Lyons - that one is 5 stars for sure, but this one stinks. It may just have been high expectations because we have had such a great experience at the main one in Lyons, but we were so disappointed here. They only serve whole pies and "turnovers" - no slices. $21 for a cherry streusel pie, so it had better be amazing. It was not. The first one they pulled out to give us was burnt and when I pointed this out, the teenaged girl behind the counter said it wasn't burnt. Um yeah... it was burnt. We picked a different one and brought it home. Black bing cherries are very, very flavorful. Their pie was totally bland and the streusel top was mushy. At the main one in Lyons, the cherry pie is vibrant, tasty, and fresh. The streusel has just the right amount of crispiness as you bite into it and adds such a great flavor dimension. Not so much here. This place seems like a cheap knock-off version of the main company. I'm surprised they even let it operate under the same name. read more

Many people don't realize that cherries were one of the keystone exports for Loveland beginning in the 1920's. The goods you buy at this roadside treat have the same homemade flavor and feel you found at your grandmother's house. Not in the mood for an entire pie? You can get a hand pie for about $3. On a fun scenic drive from Loveland to Estes Park, we just had to stop at this adorable little spot filled to the brim with any type of cherry product you might imagine (cherry cider, cherry juice, cherry taffy, cordial cherries, cherry jam... you get it). The store is set in a beautiful location on the banks of a river, filled with black and white checkered table cloths with the sound of polka music pouring from the windows. I was so craving cherry crumb pie. It's my favorite. I used to have my grandma make it for my birthday instead of cake! I skipped my usual spot in EP to try this place on the way home because I thought for sure they would have it, but alas, no crumb pies. Just traditional cherry pie. I passed. But I did enjoy browsing the cute shop. The bathrooms are pretty hideous though. They really need to do some updating! I tried some juice and cider, they do free tastings. Both were yummy, but the hubs isn't into it so I feared wasting a jug if I brought one home. They have anything cherry you can imagine. I've passed this place many times on the way to Estes Park, CO. but never stopped until recently. I understand what they offer now and I'll most likely stop every time I go that direction now! This is a DO-NOT-MISS place especially if it's your first time traveling to Estes Park. Peaches, cherries, blackberries, strawberries, blueberries, etc. all in the form of cider juices, jams and syrups. I think I'm addicted to their Peach Cider. What makes this place a great stop isn't just these specialty items but they are right on the river under beautiful trees. Cute, little roadside shop. I was surprised to see they also sold chocolate, since there didn't appear to be any a/c. There were a lot of things to choose from as others have all listed...but no fresh cherries. Well, I got the cherry turnover, and it was yummy. The crust was flaky and sorta melts in your mouth. I asked what the difference between the pie and the turnover was, and the lady there said that the turnover crust is sweeter to balance the more tart cherry filling. I do wish that they had the various flavors of single serving sliced pie like they did whole pies. I've lost count on how many times we've driven down that road. The kids are usually asleep in the back seat, and I'm gazing out the window, silently taking in the majestic beauty of the Rocky Mountains, hoping to spy an animal on the rocks. The Husband drives us along the winding, curvy road, glancing at the river every chance he can. It's the avid fly fisherman in him that's itching to throw on his waders. The urge seems to be as strong as any drug addiction. These drives aren't filled with deep and meaningful conversations between The Husband and I, but more of an experience of co-existing in sweet serenity. There's something that soothes our souls when we make those mountain drives up the canyon - the hypnotic motion of meandering through the rock walls that seemingly touch the sky, the mesmerizing sound of the rushing river hugging the road, the fresh mountain air that fills our lungs and whips through our hair, a gentle reach to hold each others hand while sharing the peaceful moment - it's heaven on Earth. Each and every time we make that drive in Big Thompson Canyon, we pass by a quaint white and red building with red jugs hung about like gigantic Christmas lights. It stands out against the natural colors of the canyon, but still seems to fit in with the country-esque appearance. "What is that place? We should stop by and check it out sometime" one of us says as we continue to drive on by. The Colorado Cherry Company is family-owned business in Loveland on Highway 34 on your way to Estes Park. They have a second location in Lyons, and some of their products are available at Whole Foods in Fort Collins. For four generations, they've been making cider, jellies, preserves, condiments, and more farmer's market-style goodies. They even sell pie (but, they are sold out almost every time we've stopped by). The Husband is fond of the Black Bing Cherry cider and I adore the Peach cider. There is a bright clean flavor unlike any other drink I've ever had, like a bottle of mountain sunshine with a refreshing, intense natural fruity sweetness. There are no artificial preservatives or added sugars - these are the honest real deal. And they are delightful. We drive that highway 34 through the gorgeous Big Thompson Canyon many times during the summer while on our way to an Estes Park hike or fly fishing adventure. From now on, we will always stop at the Colorado Cherry Company on our way up to enjoy a cold cider on road. And we'll probably have better luck getting a pie to share in the mountain scenery.
