On the third ski day, we couldn't get her boot into her ski, so we went back down to the ski shop and asked for help. The gentleman that helped us was great. Turned out the heel of her boot was just falling apart and had broken beyond repair, and we needed to get her into a pair of rental boots. The whole process was made so easy. Considering all of our gear was our own from home, they didn't have to help us at all! And they did it anyway and we felt very at home and taken care of. This is hands down the best ski shop we have needed to use! Definitely will always use Christy's if available because of this experience!

I reserved two mountain bikes from Crested Butte Sports and paid an extra $25 per bike for early…read morepickup so I could be ready for a big ride. Total anticipated bill was $304.50 for the two mountian bikes. When I picked them up, I was shown the Squidlock suspension lockout feature, but when I got home, it didn't work. I called the shop and was told the bike had a known failed Squidlock and they had no replacement available. This is frustrating because the suspension lockout was important for my planned climb on the 401 Trail Loop, and I could have rented from another shop that had fully functional bikes. When I returned the bike and explained my concern, Audi, the owner was defensive, saying most mountain bikes don't have Squidlock (true, but nearly all modern bikes have a suspension lockout). Regardless, renting out a bike with a known failed component without disclosing it is unacceptable. I was only offered $25 off the rental, which did not reflect the impact this issue had on my experience.

They are friends with Stephanie, the owner, and boy are we glad we listened to them. She and her team are the cream of the crop. It was a tremendous experience and we really enjoyed coming in each morning and afternoon and just chatting and getting to know the staff. They also don't have the long lines that Christy's, Flatiron Sports, etc. have for rental pick-up and returns. 2019 - I know there are a couple negative reviews from 2 and 4 years ago but we've had a very different experiences. We've been coming to Crested Butte for three years straight and this is one of the best stores in terms of customer service I've ever shopped/rented at. They always go the extra mile. I have been skiing my whole life and have had Crested Butte on my list to ski for some time. I am glad that I finally made my way over here to ski their slopes. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is owned and operated by Vail Resorts. My buddy and I have Epic Passes and chose to ski here this past winter. This resort is geared toward intermediate to expert skiers as there are lots of blue and black runs. Overall, we had good snow and a fun weekend. We started our day off by taking Red Lady Express Lift from Base Area. We spent a lot of our time hitting the intermediate runs off of Paradise Express Lift. We eventually hit some black runs off of Silver Queen Express Lift. We didn't do it, but Rambo run is the steepest tree-defined ski trail in North America with a 55-degree pitch. That run looks insane. Crested Butte Mountain Resort opened in 1960. We stayed in town near the base of the resort and had a lot of fun. We were able to walk to the lift from our hotel. Crested Butte is a former coal mining town that is a popular tourist destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Mount Crested Butte is in the heart of the Elk Mountains and sits over 9,000 feet above sea level. The town is named after its iconic 12,168-foot mountain peak. You can see the peak while you ski from almost anywhere on the mountain.

Crested Butte Resort is an awesome skiing destination. It is set up well and relatively easy to…read morenavigate around the entire resort from the Front Side (the Base Camp area) to the lifts/terrain on the back side (Paradise Express, East River, Teocalli) as well as the Ten Peaks area! Approximately 40% of skiing trails are marked as Double Black Diamond Extreme, so if you're looking for the most challenging terrain, then this is the place for you! But even if you're not an "advanced expert," then there are still plenty of runs that you can take it easy on... or that will push you to keep on learning and getting better! Of all the Vail Resorts, I feel like the Crested Butte team was the friendliest and most welcoming. Definitely try to plan your trip to Crested Butte for when they're getting some fresh powder, as most of the runs will be even more enjoyable! *****FIVE STARS*****
