Thankful to the receptionist because I was running late (Uber) since it's bad class etiquette to be late, but I had to do paperwork when I arrived even though I had already filled it out online. This made me more late. Real, the instructor, was great & she has legs for days lol. She invited me to take class the next day, but I had concert plans. I learned a piece that's been retaught, but didn't mind it since it was my 1st "chairography" class, but I've taken sexy/heels classes before. I was heels-less because I didn't pack any, but shoes weren't required. I enjoyed the warm-up, choreography, tricks, & extra time at the end. "Tease me please".

We tried a few lesson programs here (we're not great and definitely need instruction!) and ultimately, we really struggled to find a great environment to learn to dance in Denver. But just recently, we found Swingin' Denver! We dropped in for an advanced Lindy Hop lesson last night and loooved it! The instructors are really good dancers and the lessons are challenging - which is much needed for us since we've had a year and a half break from any instruction/social dances/practice whatsoever. The instructors are friendly and dedicated to creating a friendly, inclusive, active swing dance community in the Denver area. They appear to plan several social dances (some with DJs but some with live bands - which are the best kind of social dances). At the conclusion of each class, the instructors videotape the moves and post them on Youtube, which is great since my husband and I love to practice. It kind of looks like a high school gym with so many circus apparatuses. I took some intro classes with Oksana, when she was there, and Logan. Both are amazing! I have taken a private class with Logan with friends and he was so great. He takes time and can be hands-on. He definitely gives you a challenge, but it feels good when you accomplish it! I worked with Timmy Merz (the owner of Booth Dancesport) intensively for eight months. He is a…read morelovely dancer, and a handsome and sometimes charming person. However, he has been highly unprofessional with me. He frequently does not do what he says he will do - especially if I asked him to do it. He doesn't communicate well. His responsiveness is unreliable. He sometimes dropped out of contact for days - when we were up against deadlines. He is unorganized in scheduling lessons, many times I didn't know my lesson time until the day of, making it impossible to schedule the rest of my day. And now ultimately, he has ghosted me over a disagreement about an advanced lift he wanted to get me into. I didn't feel safe. I told him so. I requested we work it in a supported environment. He agreed, but never followed through. This lead to an argument, after which he has refused to communicate. I paid for 16 lessons for the month of August, and only got six lessons before the disagreement. He still owes me for 10 lessons, and has, as of today (almost a month and a half later), refused to acknowledge any of my communications, or my requests for a refund.

This studio didn't disappoint. I started with their group classes first, then stuck around because the floor was a nice size for practicing. Then I tried a couple private lessons and I was hooked. This studio offers a lot of options from several professional teachers who teach a variety of ballroom dance styles, group classes for beginners and for those who are interested in competing, as well as a group cardio class with dance steps incorporated. I've seen people come in who are interested in learning more social dance skills, those who want to create that special dance during their wedding, those who want to perform as a solo act, and those who want to compete all over the nation. Everyone here is super friendly and social (even to the awkward introverts like me). It's definitely a welcoming environment and I'm so happy I found them.

Angie made the class such a comfortable and supportive feeling that I fell in love right away. It has turned into my favorite class to take. The class that Angie teaches is very fun and releasing, it really brightens my week. I couldn't ask for a better modern teacher to have! She definitely taken my appreciation for dance to a new level. Her choreography is one of my all time favorite to do and to watch and I always leave class excited for the next week.
