I usually don't get off of work until businesses are closing but the staff at colorful nails allowed me a walk-in appointment! I just happened to find them near the nail shop Id usually go to at the last minute. It was very clean and felt inviting! They kept me laughing while still being professional so it was a great atmosphere to be in! They did such a great job. incredibly disappointed with my experience about an hour ago. Used to come here many years ago when owned by a different family and it was great however today I was insulted multiple times in their own language, of course, from being called stupid to one of them pointing to my knee and saying "no bone", essentially calling me fat. If you've gone here before you will know which one it was because she never shuts up, her mouth started when we walked in the door and was still going when we walked out of it. zero out of 10 would not recommend and will not spend another cent at this business. read more

Something about this place is very peaceful and welcoming. I've read the reviews on how long it could take with the understaffing so I wasn't surprised about the wait. Another lady who arrived after me ended up leaving after we waited awhile. I appreciated how they took their time with the other customers and knew they would with me, besides, I wasn't going to risk leaving to another salon and have to wait not knowing the circumstances/ business hours when I'm new in town. Overall it was worth the wait, she took her time and the results are beautiful and the prices aren't decent! Every time I come here I am satisfied. They are small just three techs and two of them are husband and wife. People sometimes wait hours for the husband who's name I forgot but he's amazing! He pays attention to detail and genuinely cares about doing a good job so when he takes one hour to do my full set I don't mind nor do I mind waiting on him. He will go back over it to ensure accuracy and is nice. The atmosphere is quaint and welcoming and once you receive service you know why you waited for one hour to see them. They also have free refreshments sometimes baked goods his wife made. They try to accommodate so kids are welcome. I could go on and on about this place I love the hospitality because the last place I went to I was rushed, the technician rushed and I felt like they just wanted my money. read more

So I went today and had a full done this morning at 10 am today and was satisfied with my nails. I tipped the nail tech. At 7 pm this evening I was folding clothes and noticed one of my tips chipped, I called and notified the salon. They said come in because they closed at 8 pm. The nail tech was not in that service me. Needless to say they decided to charge me for the repair. I paid bit will not return for service again. read more

She did a great job on my toes. I just went in for a polish change but after I felt like I should've got a full pedicure. I went on a weekday (2pm) in between my classes. Horrible, a one woman show with an inexperienced staff person who floats in from their other shop and is not licensed or trained to do manicures or pedicures. Yes, Rose can do nails but she is so set in her ways that she pays absolutely no attention to health laws and sterilization practices. Nothing is cleaned much less disinfected. You sit in the same worn out chair with the same worn out supplies. No cleaning, no changing of files just poor practices. Prices however are right at the top end and if you're a new client don't be surprised if your same services get more expensive every time you go in. Shady! read more

Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful . . . I should have never left! Years ago I used to frequent Colorful Nails, but stopped because I moved and it was no longer convenient for me to drive to Portsmouth. Today I made a return visit because I was in the area, and they are still wonderful. Rose is not just a nail technician, she is a nail artist. The whole staff is good, but Rose is by far my favorite. She fixed a botched job another nail salon did and took extra measures to make sure my nails were done right this time. They look great and very, very natural for a french manicure. Two of my nails are acrylic due to breakage, and you cannot tell which nails are real or "fake" after she fixed everything (it was glaringly apparent before she fixed). In addition to being a top notch nail technician, Rose is also very personable! My whole family, including my mother, mother in law, sisters, and sister in law continue to go to her exclusively year after year. The prices are great too, I have went to "upscale" nail salons and have paid three times as much, and the job they did could not compare to the quality of Colorful Nails. I will not stray again, Colorful Nails is more than worth the drive for me! read more

After waiting about 30 minutes yesterday I finally was able to get my eyebrows waxed. I had my sister's big event to attend so of course pictures wouls be taken. Well during the session my skin began to burn because she REPEATEDLY rubbed alcohol on my eyebrows DURING the waxing. I finally say "hey its burning" And we finish up quickly. As a hour or so goes by, my skin is still burning and very irritated. I look in the mirror and my skin is BURNED under BOTH of eyebrows! This has NEVER happened to me in the 15+ years I have been getting my brows waxed. I returned today to explain and show what happened all I got was a "Im sorry" And she placed skin cream on the affected area. I even explained I had to take pictures for my sister's big event...still didnt mean anything to them. After a LONG wait time and burned skin I DEFINITELY wont be returning! The least they could have done was refunded me my money, clearly I came for a eyebrow wax NOT a skin burn under BOTH eyebrows. Highly disappointed! Update: I went to my regular eye brow tech and showed him what happened he stated the wax was entirely too hot...I mentioned a constant burning feeling he said she was supposed to use COOLING GEL not ALCOHOL especially since she severely burned my skin already! Just shows how unskilled and UNPROFESSIONAL they truly are! Most reviews say they do nails good which may be true BUT PLEASE DONT RISK BEING IN PAIN AND YOUR SKIN HAVING TO HEAL!
