I've had two appointments at The Nail Box so far, both with Chloe, and I've loved my nails each time. I'm very particular about my dip powder and nail shape, and Chloe has gotten it right every time with no issues. The only possible con I can point out is that they use a gel coat over the dip which I'm not used to, knowing that it can sometimes lead to premature chipping/peeling. Also, they are a little bit on the pricier side compared to some shops in the area! Went here after many online recommendations. The online scheduling was great and easy. I just wish I had received a confirmation in case I forgot the time. There are plenty of nail techs. The number of color options is overwhelming but definitely a plus. The removal of my gel polish was quick Overall a good experience. Prices are reasonable. The techs are no nonsense so if you are looking for a talkative experience, you may want to look elsewhere. I got my nails done here, not too long ago, and I came in for a fill. A fill is only supposed to be about $60-$70. I had called and scheduled to fill because some of my nails were chipped. While I was getting my nails done, the man doing my nails told me that I needed a complete soil off in a completely new set which I knew wasn't true so I said I would just rather get a fill. He continued to pop off and soak off all of my nails, and I told him that I only asked for a fill, and he proceeded to tell me that I would only pay for a fill and not a full set. Come to check out my what was supposed to be $70 payment turned out to be $115. I was so shocked and confused and tried to tell them that I did not ask for a full set. I only asked for a fill. And just told me that I needed to pay it. I couldn't fight it anymore because I had somewhere to be, but I ended up paying $315 for my very short plain colored nails. Maybe owner couple and some other woman, who removed my no-chip polish. I don't get my nails done regularly. I don't know what to expect but, what I walked away with can't be right!! I ended up with the guy after I complained about the gouges from the woman tech. His English was very poor. I told him to cut them all off since they were destroyed. One customer came in and started with the older woman then switched to my tech when she was done with me. My reason for 3 stars is because i really really wish this salon would take a couple hours a week to do a deep clean. The stations are dirty, the nail storage is dusty and crusty and the floor some tlc My first time i had Bonnie and she was amazing and fixed my nails up so nice i was so relieved compared to what i had walked in with. Yesterday (my second time) i was sat with a different woman & requested the same color, she gave me a different one but i didn't complain cause it ended up being so similar. she did cut me with the drill and was super super quick like she was in a hurry which i didn't care for but i left satisfied because they look so frickin good! i will be back again tho. gotta keep trying to find a nail place that works for me. read more

my go to nail salon!! I was surprised to see so many bad reviews. I have been going here since they opened and have always had a great experience. They do great pedicure and do a great job with my nails. My only complaint is that they have gotten pricey within the last year but so has every other salon. Terrible experience with their pedicure this week. The gel polish got in between my nail and skin on multiple toes, and then they cured it under the lamp and burned me since it was directly on my skin. The person doing my nails also did a terrible paint job on my toes and there was so much space between my cuticle and the paint, my nails look like they shrunk lmfao. The shape of my nails was boxy and ugly. I've gotten plenty of pedicures from here before so this was very disappointing. Also, they injured my fingers the last time I came here to get my acrylics done. My nails are really healthy but they were constantly burning from how the acrylic was being incorrectly applied and how long the nail artist was applying the drill bits to my nails right by my cuticles. Extremely stressful and uncomfortable as they don't understand English and I tried to express why I was unhappy. They also dumbed down the design I chose by a ton because they couldn't do it. Apparently the design I chose off of their own Instagram was painted by another staff member who wasn't available so they assigned me someone else who struggled immensely with it. He had to redo the same nail 4-5 times and looked like he was going to cry. Overall it came out to over $130 + tip. Super not worth the subpar experience + inferior nail design! I would rather pay $130 more and get my nails done somewhere where they won't be abused and the staff can actually execute the design properly. I came here pretty regularly last year but I guess staff have come and gone within the last year. New staff sucks compared to old staff. Not coming back here for sure. read more

The first two times I went the service was outstanding no problem. I was thinking I found my new nail salon. The third time I went I was expecting the same quality of work and I was so wrong. I left with enough acrylic on my nails for two fills I had two nails needing replaced he just added more acrylic and didn't fix it And yes I did say something and he acted like he didn't understand so I believe him To add salt to the wound he changed me ten dollars more than the last time. This place started out nicely but had become quite dirty. Nobody speaks English enough to understand so the manager interprets and there's alot of yelling back and forth. She is on a walk talky and trying to do nails at same time. My hands had some black stuff on it when I left. Maybe lint from hot towel. Couldn't wait to wash up. The table top and black cushion where I had my hands for a dip nail was disgusting. At one point the guy doing my nail borrowed the file from lady next to me. I don't know why I didn't learn the first time I came here, they claimed to know how to use builder gel and I left with stone looking nails and a messy gel pedicure. So every other month I drive out to Suffolk to visit a friend of mine, and we now go to the NailBox to get our nails done and to catch up! It's quite a drive for me living in Virginia Beach. But it's worth the drive to come here. I don't understand some of these one star reviews where people say they weren't happy and didn't say anything... If I'm not happy with some thing, I point it out! Maybe they were having a bad day. Pedicure was great bu I wanted a manicure with regular polish. Did not do cuticles put at least 6 layers of polish that was never going to dry and I specific ask to not use gel. They seemed unsure if they could do it, switched my nail tech to three different people, but when I asked if I should just pick a different design, they told me no and that they could do it. This is my second time at this nail salon. One of my favorite things is that it opens at 9am on Saturdays. The two times I've gone I got there at 9 and was seen immediately. I have been going to The Nail Box for well over a year, probably more like two. There were some breaks in there when I tried to maintain my natural nails, but I always give in and go back. I have mixed feelings about the services I've gotten there. Sometimes I leave very happy with exactly what I ask for and other times I feel like I spent a lot of money and didn't get very much for it. I have had nail technicians who seem to take their time and really listen, and I have had too many that rush through. The last time I went, which was a week ago, the guy who did my nails worked really fast and I felt like he didn't really care about the job he did. It was obvious when about two hours after my visit, two of my acrylic nails were bubbling up. Those two nails now have an extra clearcoat over them that I had to apply to try and salvage the nails. One of my thumbs already has a huge chip out of it. My nails usually look good for at least two weeks before I start to notice some typical wear and tear. Didn't last two hours this time. And yes, I am aware that had I gone back in and asked them to fix them, they would have done that. But not everyone has time to go back and fix something that shouldn't have happened in the first place. I work full-time and have a lot on my plate. Getting my nails done for over $50 is a treat and I would expect that they would do a better job. Most times I'm in there, I don't think it looks very clean. The workstations look like they never get picked up and sometimes employees leave drinks sitting around that look like they've been there for days. And while I appreciate that I rarely have to wait long, especially when I can make an appointment online, I'm going to go elsewhere. I can save money by going to a place closer to my home and a place that actually seems to take their time do a better job. read more

The ambiance was very tranquil and modern. I had an appointment for an "Indulge Me" pedicure. I was WOWed!!! My tech did such a good job that I was fast asleep. My toes were gorgeous and very soft. I decided to make an appointment for the next morning and get my nails done after not having them done since COVID. This was another great experience. Jessie was awesome! Got my nails done here today and I've got to say it was awesome! I haven't gotten my nails done in a long time, so I've cared for my nails myself. My nails mean everything to me, so I was automatically tense when everything first started. The nail artist was patient with me since I was so tense. DO NOT pay your hard earned money to this nail salon. Lynn is very disrespectful, rude and has a bad attitude. She treated the employees bad and she also treats the customers bad. They are all in here talking about you in their native Vietnamese language saying all kinds of derogatory, mean and straight up disrespect. No customer should get treated like this! Ivy does great pedicures and is a ok person but, she does not know how to do Gelx or Sculpted nail extensions. She put the Gelx nail extension on incorrectly then had an attitude when I let her know. Then she straight up ignored me at one point. Then after that I was sent to Lynn so that Lynn could do my nails. Lynn was angry with me and attempted to rip off the Gelx extension from my nail bed. I had to ask her to drill off the Gelx extension. She was so angry she didn't even care about me being in pain or blood shedding!!!!! At this point I was so upset and frustrated I just told them to take off the Gelx and I wanted to leave. If Lynn (the head person or manager or owner ) if she knew that Ivy did not know how to do Gelx nails or sculpted nail extensions why did she book the appointment with her then? Why not just be honest and say that she does not do Gelx nail extensions or sculpted gel nails? I feel I was chosen to be a Guinea Pig for Gelx nail extensions. All this stress & foul treatment just to leave with only my feet done and paying $94.86 (pedicure, Gelx nail removal from previous visit, Gelx polish on toes). This was way too expensive for what I got . I will never go back to this salon. Save your money and go to a salon where people aren't cowardly and will talk about you in their native language laughing at you and carrying on while you sit there oblivious to what's happening. Please stop lying to these customers please. Be honest and get your employees better trained in Gelx extensions. Learn how to give better customer service as well. Previously had a love-hate relationship with this salon, but it has now turned to dislike-hate. I've given them more chances than I probably should have, just to leave disappointed every time. In fairness to the salon, I will only comment about my most recent experience. My appointment was for a basic regular polish pedicure, with no additional services. First, know that there is a "time limit" on pedicures with this salon. If you want more time, you have to pay for it. I guess this is understandable, but my technician started the timer before she even started the water. It was a good 3-5 minutes before I was told I could put my feet in, which is a considerable amount of time when you're only allotted 30 minutes to begin with. Although everyone around me was offered something to drink, I was not even offered water (I'm guessing because my service wasn't high-end enough). The technician mayyyyyybe spoke three words to me after asking me which service I wanted. Polish was already being put on at the 21 minute mark, which means I had less than 20 minutes of a true pedicure (and remember, the timer was started before the water was even started). After the painting was done, she moved me over to the drying station. Didn't mention how long I should stay there, didn't say another word. Walked away. Never came to check on me or my nails, nothing. And trust me, they weren't busy... they had multiple technicians sitting around doing their own thing, chatting with each other, etc., not with clients. After about 10 minutes, I decided I was ready to leave. Someone from the front called to her to come ring me up, which is likely the only reason I even saw her again. After I got home, I realized one of my toes was hurting, and upon taking a closer look, I think she nipped the skin around my toe when she was clipping the cuticles and dead skin. And after showering this morning (and in better lighting), I realized she did not remove all of my old polish (dark black), and you can see it around the edges of at least two of my toes, since I went with a lighter color polish this time. Overall, it wasn't an awful pedicure, but this experience definitely made me decide not to go there again. Like I said, I've had some small issues here in the past, but none that made me think "I'll never come back here" (although I probably should have). The final for me though is being treated like I'm "less than" because I didn't pay for the elaborate $100+ pedicure service with all the bells and whistles. There are plenty of other salons within 15 minutes of here that provide equal or better service, with better customer service, for the same price. read more

I am not sure I will keep returning. I was very happy with this location but after giving the gel x nails a try I was not 100% satisfied after being told the price. I usually get my gel x nails for about $65-$70 INCLUDING design elsewhere. This place advertised gel x nails for $65 online, I asked for a simple french and the price jumped to $95 for gel x simple french. A design is an extra $30?? It was so crazy to me.
