We received several previous estimates from a Popcorn/Ceiling/Texture company, a contractor, and an electrician. Trying to coordinate three different companies to complete one job can be very challenging. I contacted Blue Sky Textures & Drywall for an estimate on the Popcorn Removal. Our Estimator was Jack who was very professional and conversational, he also happens to be the owner. I discussed with him on the scope of our project and that the popcorn ceiling would be done after the removal of the wall by another contractor. Jack stated that they perform all work " in-house" and have contractors on staff that can remove the wall, do the electrical, Remove the Popcorn, Apply Texture and paint the ceiling. Jack was outstanding as we discussed all aspects of the work to be contracted. I received the estimate which was very affordable considering the scope of the project. It was also very appealing that we would only need to deal with one company as all aspects of the work will be completed "in-house" with no sub-contractors. The work was promptly scheduled and was greeted by the Job Forman, Jay. We discussed the project and timeline as the crew immediately went to work covering all furniture, floors and walls with plastic. Jay is a talented Contractor and excellent electrician and the entire Blue Sky Team was amazing.... From the Demo, Electrical, Plastering, Finishing, Knockdown to the final Paint, every aspect of the project went exactly as planned. I was in constant contact with Jay as he visited the job every day making sure that we were 100% satisfied with the work. Removing Popcorn Ceiling is a messy job, don't let anyone tell you different. I included a picture of what you should expect. I would even suggest leaving the house or planning a day outdoors. However, Blue Sky covers EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING. At the end of each day, the Blu Sky Team completely cleans up and starts each day completely fresh, recovering everything. I know other Popcorn Removal Companies leave up all the plastic for two days so that the painters don't have to cover or tape-up anything. Not Blue Sky, they leave your house livable everyday. We have an odd counter top extension that sort of hung out at a weird angle, we did not use and took up an entire room of the house (it is a small house). It was becoming a place for accumulating junk. This project required that they cut off a section of granite countertop and detach the extension from the floor. Then they trimmed the granite to a new length it so that they could reposition it with a CLEAN SEAM. It looks great and now I have more usable counter top space for cooking, the kids have a counter to sit at for breakfast and we have an extra room in the house. He did do a great job of getting paint on my new appliances and freshly refinished floors. Ramon was a great communicator and was eager to start the job. He said that it would take a week and it did however he did want to start another job prior to completing my job and after telling him that I had time constraints he did complete the job as promised. The patchwork looks great I wasn't pleased with the painting as Ramon told me that the ceiling paint was included in the quote but the wall paint was not. He said that he VERBALLY told me this which I do not recall him saying that to me but I was okay with buying the paint because I did not want this to delay this project. After purchasing 5 gallons he still did not use the wall paint as he said the paint was satin instead of flat ( if he would have come with me to purchase the paint this would not have happened) even so I was ok with him painting in satin as my husband will be repainting anyway since I was unhappy with his "touch ups ". The ceilings looked nice (paint is uneven as if he used two different types of ceiling paint) however he had the light fixtures hanging and said that the house was old and the lights were old so he couldn't put the recessed lights back in like he found them. Yes, my home was built in 1997 however the lighting was done 5 years ago . I felt like he was making an excuse for not being able to replace the fixtures properly based upon his skills. A home can be 100 years old and still be remodeled. He also wrote the quote and said that he would replace a tile in the bathroom, he said that he does not do tile and gave me 100 dollars off because of the misunderstanding. I am now trying to hire someone to replace one tile and no one wants to take on such a small job. I had to point out lots of small things like holes that he left, resanding areas, etc. I believe this project was too big to be done by just one person and if I had to do this all over again I would have went with another company. I was not satisfied with quality of work that was done. Yes , he works hard but he is a hustler, the quotes are low because he tries to tack on extra costs once he starts the job.
