Baseball and beer? What more could you ask for! This is a hidden gem and should be visited by all.

You know the night before a holiday urge to go get a drink in your hometown feel? I know it and I…read morewas super excited to see Slow Ride come up as an option for me and my sister to pop in and catch up over some drinks. Parking along the street is free (along the fence line of Sam Houston) and was not an issue even for a holiday. There is a paid parking lot that is secure and available too so note that if ever you have an issue finding a good spot. Walking into Slow Ride is like walking into your tio's (uncle) or a grandpa's cool, 70's/80;s vibey, and home-y bar. This is the kind of spot where every picture you take of yourself, or your friends, will look like you took it in the 80's! This is not a bad thing either. Seriously. It IS A VIBE here! Cushy seats at the bar was my favorite spot to hang out while we had some cold beers and a shot to go alongside it too. They have beer and shot combos here around $8. You get plenty of choices on beer and liquor of choice. I opted for a tallboy Lonestar and a small shot of the Mexican Candy. My sister got a Live Oak Hefe in a can (she likes Blue Moon so this was the closest thing to it and she liked it!) and later a Shiner in a bottle. I also decided to close out with a daiquiri that was super delicious and offered in nice glassware. Patio out in the back is spacious and a great spot to hang out with a group of friends. The back space is taken care of and has a modern look to it out there. I can see it being a nice vibe outside on a pretty day too. Jukebox is legit! All great music selections from all genres on CDs and pretty cheap too to play 5-8 songs. The artwork around here is worth a look around too. I love all the unique Garfield toys surrounding the bar area too. All of the back bar is so great with the wooden shelving and lighting too. You can see many honorable nods to those who currently or have served. It's a great thing to see especially so close to Sam Houston. One thing I have a pet peeve on is any service bar who has to keep my card on file. I am the worst person who won't remember so I have to be extra careful when bars keep my card. I usually walk and don't mind paying the 20+% tab walk fee but I do want my card back so I have to get everyone who is with me to remind me to go get it. That's why I am giving it 4 stars. I am looking forward to coming back in the future and bringing some more family and friends, though. This spot is so nostalgic and their social is super active and will promote DJs and sets happening that week and into the weekend. Go check them out and play some pool. You're gonna feel like you are in a Matthew McConaughey movie when you do. Tell me I am wrong!!!

Just outside of downtown and only a few blocks from Pearl. Love the crescent booths! Great jukebox! Whole vibe is cool and chill. Great place to meet friends, and hang out. We chatted with co-owner Nathan and had an enjoyable evening. They just open a couple of months ago... We will definitely be back!

Needs clear signage if they don't want anyone walking over their property. Was acutually going to purchase a beer until rude employee encounter. "You're not the 1st, not the last" remember that, if your boss reads this, as those were your words to us. Poor customer service, poor explanation and an epic management failure. Pass on this establishment in favor of other bars that actually want business. No wonder this place was empty.

If you are a seeker of excellent barbecue, look no further than C & D Ice, on S. Alamo Street…read more This, my friends, is as good as it gets. My wife and I tried this place out, and we are officially hooked! The ribs were nearly perfect, having the true pink smoke ring and the right balance of smoke to spice ratio. The rib meat came off of the bone when I bit into it, but that was the only flaw I found; it was still moist and full of flavor. But it was the brisket that set this place apart from every other place in San Antonio. Folks, the brisket will make you forget Rudy's brisket; it is that much better. I will even venture to say that the brisket is better than the brisket I have had at The Salt Lick outside of Austin. Yes, better than The Salt Lick's brisket! I have had brisket all over Texas, over a span of 4 decades, and this brisket is as good as I have ever had. If you don't fall in love with this brisket, you should just hang your head in shame and leave the state; you would not be worthy of this plateful of paradise. We had 2 sides with our meat: cole slaw and green chile mac 'n cheese. The cole slaw was flawless, for it was not over-sauced, and the sweetness was not overpowering. The real winner in side dishes, though, was the green chile mac 'n cheese. You get the mac 'n cheese goodness hitting your taste buds on the front end and the green chile flavors hitting your mouth on the back end. Did I mention the plentitude of beers on tap? There were 14 beers on tap when i visited this place, as well as a good selection of canned beers. I had an IPA that went quite well with the barbecue. They also have tea, of course, as well as lemonade and cherry Kool-Aid. What it comes down to is this: my wife and I will be staking our claim to a table here on a regular basis. Sorry, every other barbecue joint in San Antonio. You all have to fight for second place now.

I ended up buying a bracelet for my husband (he loves skulls), and small unique box, some mariachi sugar skulls, and a coin bag that looks like a Polaroid camera. The place is a tight squeeze in some places especially when there's more customers. The had records, vintage records, cassettes, toys, purses, jewelry and more. I like the eclectic variety of items. I had a great experience here. Would recommend to those trying to find unique items or something from your past. I'm sure you'd find something that strikes your interest. This place isn't as packed or unorganized as other antique shops. The place is well organized and laid out. Stop in if you're in the area. You never know what you'll find.
