Amber checked me in, and really turned my night around. I was having a really rough night and had just finished crying in my car, too tired to even function. Amber was SO kind and chatted with me as she checked me in, I told her I had kind of a crappy experience at another BW the night before, so she made sure I had a nice quiet room so I could finally sleep. She really seems to care about her job and the guests and that was SO refreshing to experience. There is a grocery store right across the street that was great for getting some supplies. The free breakfast in the AM was actually pretty good, though the attendant kind of grilled me about what room I'm in and made me present my key which was weird. The room was very comfortable and clean. The decor warm and inviting. Bathroom was extremely spacious. I got a really good (and much needed) night's sleep here.

What is even more concerning is that after looking at other reviews, I saw multiple guests reporting the same marijuana issue. This clearly shows it is an ongoing problem that management has not properly addressed. Although another room was offered, it was late at night and not reasonable to move, especially with my granddaughter. At that point, the damage to our stay was already done. A non-smoking hotel should enforce its policies and ensure guests are not exposed to smoke. I paid for a service that was not delivered. I am requesting a full refund for the night that was impacted, as well as the return of my deposit. This is the fair and reasonable resolution. If this is not handled appropriately, I will continue to escalate this matter and share my experience on multiple platforms.

Some are broken, making guests more difficult if they need to do their laundry. Overall, I enjoyed staying here at the Holiday Inn Express in Colton, CA. I didn't have much complaints. However just small things out of my control. The room did have a slight smell (not necessarily bad, I just aired out the room!) speaking of that. I did like how we are able to crack windows open a bit. I understand safety concerns but it was nice to get some fresh air. One thing though was the noise outside, maybe it was a radiator or something but it was pretty loud from evening till past 12am. The AC/HEAT unit was decent as well. Not the greatest but does what it needs to! It does have a slight smell too so I wonder how often they get cleaned and filtered out. I tried to do fresh air as much as possible. Tv had streaming and live TV. Microwave and fridges were. Clean! Bathroom was clean as well however I did have a bit of ants on the walls or the half end of the stay. The gym is small. 1 cable machine, 2 benches, free weights, 3 treadmill (only one worked at the time) and a few other cardio machines. Warm n humid in there Otherwise, that's really it! We decided to get breakfast, and when we reached the first floor and walked to the breakfast area, one of the employees at the desk started to yell at us, asking if we were room number ### and yelling something to the effect of "didn't you sign a contract when you checked in?! There is no loud music allowed and no partying." She said some other things to my friends but I didn't catch what she said. What I did catch was the tone of voice. There is a certain respect and rapport when talking to guests, and yelling at them from behind the registration desk as they are walking by to get breakfast while other guests are present eating breakfast is not the way. The approach was very aggressive and it honestly brought the mood and atmosphere down for our whole group. It was definitely not the positive start and vibe we wanted to initiate our vacation with. We did have music playing, I will attest to that, but because my room was at the end of the building, a corner room, and only has one neighbor, I did not think our music was playing too loudly. It was 9am in the morning, not in the middle of the night, as we would not play music while people were trying to sleep. At any rate, this will probably be the last time we stay at this Hilton property. There are many around the area that provided a more welcoming and understanding experience.
