Service wash crappy and handling a dog in the restaurant is very uncalled for we waited 20 min before getting drinks

Colton's is a chain and it's smack dab in the average range. Our server was on it, taking our drink orders and returning with them along with a basket full of rolls and whipped honey butter. He never skipped a beat, including checking back with us shortly after our food arrived to see if we needed anything else. I never order ribs but I decided to jump out of my comfort zone and give it a shot. They were fall off the bone tender with a good bit of sauce, unfortunately, they were also pretty salty. Everyone else seemed happy and content with their choices. I've been to Colton's 3 times and this trip wasn't better or worse than my previous 2 visits. Pro Tip: You can get a bucket of peanuts to eat at your table but you have to ask for them. read more

Another Well Run Location! I was in the Batesville area for business and decided to try out Colton's location in town. I have eaten at many Coltons all over the USA and wanted to see if this location was just as good or better than other Colton's locations. When I arrived it was at the beginning of dinner service and already starting to fill up with diners. The hostess asked me if I wanted the bar or dining room and I chose the dining room. When I was seated the server in my section came to my table within a few minutes. Once she went over some of the items that Colton's is known for, she took my drink order and gave me some time to choose my meal. I ordered the Filet with a side of grilled shrimp and green beans. When my server dropped off my beer, she also came with a basket of fresh hot rolls, which were right out of the oven and the butter melted on the buns making it a great snack while I waited for my food. I had asked the server to bring out my shrimp first, and I was in no rush for my main course. The shrimp came out and they were plump and juicy, still hot and served with a side of melted butter with a lemon wedge and on a bed of rice. The shrimp were a great starter and they were seasoned just right and not too salty. My steak came out cooked just a little over medium-rare, so not quite how I wanted it but I did not complain, as it was a very good cut of beef, and tasted very good. The mashed potatoes and gravy were a hit as they were very good. The green beans weren't much to write home about, but they were edible. Overall a good inexpensive meal, with great service, and the server took her time showing me how to pay on the tablet at the table. If I'm in Batesville again, I will most definitely come back read more

my expirce was excellent but the best part about it was my hostest Michael/Jojo because at the start she complemented my shirt and shoes then she kindly asked if I wanted any peanuts or rolls. We went on a Monday night a little after 7pm and there was not a lot of folks there. Hannah was our waitress and she took very good care of us making sure we had everything we needed. She was super nice and very attentive so service was way above par. We also got a JT Onion Bloom to share for an appetizer. It was as big as some than I have seen but it was fried all the way through and tasted great with the sauce that they serve it with. I ordered their Mesquite Salmon and it came out really good. I think that there was supposed to be some sort of sauce on it but it was fine without it so I did not say anything. It was a tad overcooked but it still tasted great. The others at the table all ordered some sort of steak; smoked sirloin, regular sirloin etc and all of them thought that this was one of the better meals that we have had in Batesville for dinner. They have a ton of TVs going so if you want to watch football or whatever plus a fully stocked bar to suit anyone's fancy so give them a try if you are in the area. read more

I was in this area for work and before heading to my hotel I figured I better eat dinner. So here I am. This is a typical Steak restaurant that looks and acts like a chain Steak House. They also give you a bucket of peanuts if you wish. I'm alone, as usual, but they seat me immediately. So just a side note. I recently saw the documentary about Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys. Now I'm obsessed with their music and "California Girls" comes to mind now. So Allie is my waitress and fits the role for Southern Girls to the tee. Yes the way southern girls talk really knocks me out. I'm way off topic here. The Food: Steak cooked perfectly. I had two sides, sautéed onions and sautéed mushrooms. Allie forgot my mushrooms but I didn't care because it was just another opportunity to hear her sweet southern voice again. She rectified the mushrooms quickly. She also kept me refilled on my drink. Food is highly inconsistent. And saying something delays getting a fixed order for literally 35 minutes (we timed it). Some service is good and some you'll never see the server again. Had to go up front and ask if I need to pay there. The food is just so-so. Nothing at all the wrote home about. Unless it's a Sunday, tea at yourself to The River if you want a steak. Retried this Colton's finally after my 2 year ago fiasco. I had ribs they were good. Wife had grilled chicken salad she liked it. Daughter had salmon she said really good. Grandkid had sirloin tips and smashed potatoes he enjoyed his. Waitress well that was poor but gave 4 for pleasant atmosphere and fun time. Under 1 year old grandson loved the things on the walls to look at and 6 year enjoyed the "cowboy " stuff. read more

I'll keep this at a three star just due to the fact it's been only my third time to one of these establishments, but my first time here at this one particularly. Place was bigger than I thought it would be just by looking at the outside. The hostess and fellow workers were all nice and helpful. Their house and specially local brewed Root beer was served chilled and was one of the best tasting Root beers I've had in a long time. I asked where to grab a case and they were able to let me know where to as well as offered to purchase a six pack then and there. Not a lot of businesses would do that but this place did. My serving of a small tall glass of beer was also chilled and refreshing. What I was disappointed in was their portion sizes. The Chicken Fried Steak was a sad size of an 8 oz sirloin steak that Waffle House or a bummed out Applebees would serve. Though tasteful I was hoping for a bigger size! Have gone to this location several times. Has not been good. This last visit was my final. Will not go back. I ordered a filet and asked the waitress how to order if I want it pink inside. She had no idea. Said she was the wrong person to ask cause she doesn't eat meat. Hmmm works at a steak house and cannot answer that question. So I ordered it medium rare. Came out very rare. Not her fault. So I sent it back. For medium rare. Came back well done. Everyone I was with was almost finished eating and the manager came over and said they would redo. However I declined since I didn't want everyone to have to wait. He said he would take the meal off. However he took 50% off my meal only. Asked about it and they said that's what they do! There were 4 of us in for lunch today. 1 - Very long wait for our food..2- Each meal was brought separately with time elapsing between. 3- The first meal brought out was a kid's meal cheeseburger for our grandson. Burger was overcooked and hard as leather. 4 - second meal had a food allergy. We worked with the manager and she assured us it would be safe and she would personally supervise the making of it. Came out with the allergen on it. Second time it was dropped in kitchen. Left before the third time. 5 - Third meal came out 15 minutes later cold, burnt toast. We could tell it had been sitting there. 6 - Fourth meal came after a talking to to our waitress. It was ok. Help didn't handle it well at all. Never, never would I go back there. This is the worse place I've eaten! A couple wks ago I order the pork chop for pick-up, after waiting 40 mins. it finally came, got home and it was a little burnt turn it over and OMG! It was completely black on the other side, gave them a second chance last wk with an order of ribs, it was a repeat, 40 min. wait and burnt black to the bone. Honestly, I so wanted this to be a good experience, since my last one here was not. But... I ordered the Hawaiian Grilled Chicken as a takeout. The chicken was very dry and it seemed like everything was salty, especially the rice that it came with. The rolls always look good, but they tend to be somewhat tough and leathery on the outside and not much more than air on the inside. My last visit, I had ordered the fried catfish. There were some nice meaty strips. I was alone and had to go the the restroom. I left my phone and glasses there so they would know I had not left. I was not gone but for a minute or two (to wash hands) and when I came back my food was gone. All of the other patrons around my table told me what had happened and that they had tried to stop the busboy, but he was too quick and determined to clear the table. The waitress said that they were remaking my meal. Good grief. So I would have told her just to redo the fish, since I had eaten most of the sides and was really pretty full. But no one asked before submitting the meal order. I guess it must have made the cook pretty mad to have to do it over again, since what I got the 2nd time round was just about inedible. It was the thin fish tail sections that had been cooked until they were hard like potato chips. I left, questioning if I would ever come back. Our bad experience, is a string of bad experiences at this particular Colton's restaurant. This trip was prompted by $40 of coupons sent by mail. $10 off $30 coupons, they must be desperate for business. We had completely quit going to this restaurant because the service is always poor. This place is the burger-king of steakhouses. They have a high employee turnover rate to start with. We asked to be seated on the "porch" and were declined due to lack of a server. The restaurant was empty on a Sunday at 4:15pm, instead We were seated near the bathroom. We started our order with egg rolls (southwest rolls) and drinks. Our drinks were delivered along with bread. We then placed an order for the Hawaiian Rib-eye and the Bacon Cheeseburger (Cheddar) because Colton's refuses to carry AMERICAN cheese to make a proper cheeseburger. The egg rolls and my burger arrive. No time to eat the appetizer. My partners Hawaiian Rib-eye arrives about 5 minutes later. My burger is burnt and carbonized, which is a bad taste. My fries were supposed to be steak fries, they were left over culls and crap which were over-cooked. My partners Hawaiian Rib-eye was ordered medium, it was also burnt and carbonized. the carbonized taste overruled the pineapple and meat flavors. Our waitress came by and my partner told her how bad the food was and she started crying. (poor kid, wasn't her fault). She got her manager, the manager took about 15 minutes to come see us, meanwhile our meal is at a standstill. The manager then offered to replace the order and by that time we were disgusted and ready to go. She offered to give us 30% off our ticket, which was just insulting. We took it and left. No sense in negotiating the price of a bad meal. Obviously this restaurant has issues which start at the top and rain down. Instead of trying to negotiate the price of bad service they should have tried to retain the customer with a full or partial discount available on the next visit. No wait at all, the service was excellent and very prompt. The Philly Cheesesteak was absolutely amazing. The staff was friendly and attentive. Top notch all the way around. Not sure why this place is so busy and has a wait. While our wait was minimal, food was only mediocre at best and the service was down right pitiful. 1. How does a restaurant not have silverware available for tables? Our salads and soup were brought to the table and we were told there was no silverware and they were out of dinner rolls. 2. When steaks were delivered we had to ask again for silverware, but we did shell of rolls. The center was hallow and only had crust. 3. We never saw our waitress again until she brought our check. No drink refills, no rolls, no honey. If this place was in any other town with competition, they would be out of business. read more
