This was our first visit to Sakura. When being seated in the hibachi area we were greeted with a busing station in disarray with stacks of dirty dishes, towels, and disheveled trays. Once at the grill we saw old food on the edges of the grill and overflowing waste trays filled with eggshells and food waste. The floor had food scattered all over the soiled looking carpet. When we looked towards the kitchen, it was an unappealing view of dirty appliances and a filthy hand washing station we never saw an employee use. While cooking our meal the hibachi chef used the same utensils to cook raw chicken and beef, which is a cross contamination nightmare. The food was mediocre and the staff was short and not friendly in the least. This was easily the worst hibachi restaurant I have ever been too. read more

This could be a really nice place if the owner would put the time and effort into some cleaning. I still eat here pretty often because it's the only place in town to get what I want sometimes. I love Pat, the waitress who always takes care of us. But the rest of the staff is not as friendly or helpful. Had dinner tonight. Ordered the gyoza as an appetizer, fried rice and three different rolls. The rice came out first no extra plate provided as there was two of us. So we waited. Then the rolls where delivery and I asked for a plate. My husband then asked for the gyoza which was suppose to be our appetizer. They where brought out last I believe the waiter forgot about them. The rolls were good but the Philly roll said it was smoked salmon and it was actually raw. My husband just took the raw salmon out and ate the rest. ( I wanted to send it back but he said no) The fried rice is just rice with soy sauce will not order again but the shrimp tempura roll and the California roll where very good read more

Horrible food service, and overpriced two times in a row. Tried again, but just not a good place to eat. My food came after everyone in our group had already eaten, and what was supposed to be hot was stone cold. They told my wife they did not have fried rice without ordering a $20 meal from the grill which is totally untrue. With the 10% tax and 20% mandatory tip, I'll stay home. read more

Excellent choice for dinner tonight. We ordered our favorite sushi roll - it goes by a different name in every restaurant - a cucumber roll with no rice. Some call it the low carb roll. We explained it to the waiter and he talked to the sushi chef who made us one of the best rolls we've ever had. They call it the "super cucumber " roll. We had two other rolls that were very good and we shared a plate of seafood udon. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I had been to this restaurant a couple other times before and always had a great experience until October 9th 2021 me and my girlfriend had went out to eat and sat at the grills, the chef was amazing as always and the food was great. I had paid the bill in cash and asked for the change back because I couldn't afford a tip on top of a 70 dollar bill and the waitress got very upset and bashed me for not leaving a tip. I had let it go and finished up eating my food and boxing it up and then went to leave, I had told the same lady "goodbye and have a nice night" and she replied in Japanese to "die" not realizing I know Japanese. Do not recommend this restaurant, they are very unprofessional and disrespectful to customers. read more

Really nice people which made up for the so-so food. Pricey for what u get. I had the chicken teriyaki. The flavor was OK, but the chicken was Luke-warm and not much of it. I had dinner at Sakura tonight. It was fresh and quite good and the service was excellent. I sat at a table (I loathe hibachi grill seating) and had a miso soup, sashimi salad and a crazy tuna roll. The young woman who waited on me was friendly and repeated my special requests to make sure she understood them (no eel sauce, very little spicy sauce, minimal rice). The miso soup was hot and rich, the sashimi salad was fresh and had a lot of tuna and avocado, and the tuna roll was perfect. She was attentive and checked on me at least twice between serving the food. Based on previous reviews of poor service, Sakura has upped their game. read more

The food is alright. Not bad for Asian food in Batesville. The sushi was alright. Despite the fact that we kept smelling whiffs of sewage throughout our meal... The food wasn't too bad. Our waitress had a good sense of humor and was honest enough to let us know that we shouldn't order the green tea ice cream because it was old... There's a neat fountain at the entrance too but there was a liquid substance dripping through the ceiling and on to the floor right by it... Possibly the sewage smell? Overall food is good and good sized portions only slightly over priced. The service however is only okay on good days and horrible at other times. Last week they brought the main course out but forgot about soup and salad...when we asked take the main course back until we finished the soup and salad they said they couldn't do it. Apologized but did not try to fix their error. Another time when wife ordered shrimp meal with vegetables but said she only wanted zucchini as the veggie... that was what she got... no shrimp, no rice just a big plate of zuc...... when she complained they brought a second plate of shimp and charged her..... customer service needs some attention by management...if they thought just getting an ABC permit to sell beer and wine would solve it they were sadly mistaken read more

I was actually impressed with the sushi here. I will he honest, I wasn't expecting much in Batesville. Both rolls I ordered were made promptly, plated well, and tasted great. It was raining pretty heavy and parts of Arkansas had flooded, and the ceiling was dripping on the floor one table over. That brings the score down slightly. Food was excellent, service was the worst I've ever experienced. Our chef at the hibachi grill was great, very friendly and interactive. The server came to our table a total of 3 times. First to take our orders, next to deliver our soup, salad, and beverage, and then we never saw him until he brought the check at the end of the meal. I sat there with an empty beer glass for a solid 20 minutes (luckily I still had my glass of water). I just couldn't believe he never came around once during our meal, especially since there was only one other table of people at the restaurant. Very disappointing. This is my daughters favorite place to eat! We always sit at the grill and have rarely had a negative experience. Great chefs and the yum yum sauce is SO good (you can purchase this to go btw!). It is very pricy in the evenings but you get enough food for lunch the next day. read more

We eat here often the service is always good the staff are always friendly and very professional at the grill it's a good place to meet people it's also a good place to take friends family or business associates if they're from out of town they do serve alcohol which I'm not fan of but it still good place to take your kids I would say that it caters to the middle class of our society and the food is expensive but you pay for what you get read more

Food was great! A little pricy unless you go for lunch during the week. Our chef was very entertaining and upbeat. However, what really discouraged me was the waitress was very lazy and rude. She came to our table a total of three times. First time to take order. Second time to hand out drinks. Third time to pick up the checks. I had to call her over to the table a few times for her to refill a drink, whether it was mine or a friend's. And no they were not busy at all. After we paid and were leaving, she confronted one of my friends and was yelling and demanding a tip. For one, she didn't deserve it. Make the argument that she makes under minimum wage and lives off tips. But I've been there before and one table that doesn't tip won't kill you even on a slow night. Super friendly staff and fast service. They were out of gyoza but I ordered a similar appetizer, shrimp shumai, which was good. I don't normally go to sushi places that aren't near oceans, but if I do, I'll order fried or fully cooked sushi. That being said, I ordered the Highland roll which was delicious, normal bite size, and presented well. The miso soup was quite delicious. I tried to do what I always do in these places. Big bowl of ramen and a roll. "No ramen today". Had had teriyaki noodle beef instead. Not good. The volcano roll was small and overly covered in panko to hide the non-volcano taste. My server Jeff or Jeremy or something like that was speaking Mandarin also. So we went to try Sakura for the first time since we heard it was awesome, we sat down and was never waited on, I had to get a bus boy just to bring us our drinks and he said our waitress will be right with us....we sat for 20 min and no one ever came back, waiters and waitress just kept passing us by. We finally get up to leave and ask to speak to the manger and told him what happened. All he did was laugh and left us standing there like idiots. I love the super crunch roll! I have yet to have a bad experience here, my moms favorite Hibachi restaurant! I love the steak, the shrimp isn't my favorite but I don't like much hibachi shrimp.. I love the sushi though, even beats some sushi restaurants! And the salads are usually great! And I have yet to have a better Miso soup! Definitely a nice place in batesville! I would recommend it, the yum yum sauce is great and the price is reasonable for the food you get! I always have enough for next day's lunch! On a business trip to Batesville, I was actually surprised to discover a Japanese Steakhouse. I wasn't sure what to expect as it is located in a semi-strip mall type location. Upon entering, the pleasant smells hit you and the decor is a little outdated, but please don't be fooled! The food is awesome! I ordered the hibachi chicken dinner with a side of noodles and I must say my taste buds were pleasantly surprised. I didn't care for the salad or soup that came with the dinner as the soup tasted as if it was either spoiled or had been sitting out for days. However, the noodles, rice, vegetables, and chicken were very good. The seasoning was just right, the vegetables weren't overly done or soggy, the rice and noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chicken had an awesome robust flavor. Next time I'll try the sushi as it seems everyone was ordering it, so it must be good. If I ever have the pleasure of visiting Batesville again, I'm definitely stopping here first! read more

Excellent Japanese Steakhouse and one of Batesville's best restaurants. The grill absolutely awesome. I do wish their portions was a bit larger though compared to other Japanese Steak Houses but that's my only possible complaint. They aren't horribly small but for the price are a little smaller than you often receive at similar restaurants. read more
