At the Valatie facility I was given specialized exercises, instruction and compassionate, professional supervision to restore the lost range of motion and strength in my right arm, after having fractured it just below the shoulder in a fall. A fall that impacted the upper shoulder muscles significantly and severely limited that arms movement. To correct this condition, I was prescribed a varied course of exercises, over ten visits, spread out over the months of February and March 2018. Between the visits I continued to perform the prescribed exercises at home. At this moment, as a result of this care, I have regained approximately ninety percent of the lost range of motion and now that I have completed the course, will continue the exercises at home to regain the rest. The staff was always pleasant, encouraging and supportive. My gratitude and thanks to my therapists, Melissa and Karen for their kind and thoughtful supervision! This was my second experience at Columbia Physical Therapy's Valatie office; the first was several years ago for treatment of sciatica and recently for necessary therapy following knee replacement surgery. Both times I was fortunate to work with Karen who is an extremely knowledgeable professional. Karen taught me a variety of exercises, explaining each time why they worked and how to best perform them, both in the office and at home. She is very friendly, helpful and easy to work with. I should also mention that I had a session with Stefanie & another one with Cody, both of whom are equally professional, friendly and easy to work with. When I injured my arm I came to Columbia PT for help, and never having had PT before will admit I was leery. Was I ever wrong. These people are extremely patient and very helpful. The appointments are pleasant from the moment you walk in. The entire staff is engaging and make you feel like you are part of something. My personal therapist, Michaela, was a pleasure to work with. She was very patient with my setbacks, with an infectious positive attitude. You WANT to do your exercises at home between visits because you don't want to disappoint her. I have been going to Columbia physical therapy for post shoulder surgery rehabilitation. And and just 12 weeks I have my full range of motion back and way more strength than I thought I was going to have this soon after my surgery. My physical therapist was Megan and she was absolutely amazing. She made sure that I understood my exercises and that I was doing them the correct way before sending me home to do them. She also made sure that I was making progress quickly but safely. Everyone that works here are amazing they are polite and always have smiles on there faces. I was experiencing back and leg pain which was impeding my ability to walk and move normally. After consultation, I was guided in various strengthening and stretching exercises. Over time I regained strength and my pain was eased. The care shown by the therapist team (primarily Susan) was professional and clearly experienced. I had debilitating pain in right shoulder and limited range of motion. An arthritic condition possibly aggravated by a fall or other trauma, the orthopedic surgeon offered little hope, but said PT might help. Columbia Physical Therapy was great. I went to Columbia PT for severe sciatic pain, which made walking or even sitting difficult. Stephanie worked with me, and after completing a sequence of exercises I am without pain, for the most part, and able to resume everyday activities without trouble again.
