After weeks of confusion and no coordination between Beacon and my dentist, I had to act as the go-between just to get a surgery date. On the day of the surgery, after fasting and carefully following instructions, I was told -- while already in the chair -- that the procedure was canceled. Why? Because I had taken my medication with a tiny sip of diluted grape juice three hours earlier. Not too much liquid -- just a small amount, mostly water (1 or 2 tablespoons). Instead of simply asking, the surgical assistant played a condescending game: "Show me with your fingers how much you drank." It felt demeaning. The surgeon never even came in to speak with me. I had prepaid $18,150 out of pocket -- money pulled from savings and investments. They offered no payment plan, no insurance coding support, and no transparency. I left in tears. On surgery day, I was in the chair, ready -- scared, but prepared -- when the assistant came in with a fake-sweet tone and canceled everything on the spot. Why? Because I'd taken a tiny sip of water mixed with a bit of grape juice three hours before. I followed the instructions to the letter. But they wanted a reason to push me out, and they used that as their excuse. The girl who took me into the room to get me ready, never did listen to me. She kept telling me that I had drink much more juice than I said to her. Imagine dilute in your juice 2/3 parts water 1/3 part juice and then when you put it in your cup, you add 50% more water. And then imagine that you could take a few pills with between one and 2 tablespoons of liquid. That's what I took and I tried to explain that to her, but she didn't want to hear it. She just wanted me gone. I don't believe she told the truth to the doctor because he had talked with my dentist and told her that I wasn't having the surgery because I drank juice. I also had an advocate who works for my Dentist come with me, and she wasn't allowed to come into the room until the girl who took me back. There was able to create the scenario that I wouldn't be getting the surgery without being completely honest with the doctor, if in fact, he was the one who made the decision. I will never trust this company again. Worse still, the surgeon never spoke to me -- not even to explain or apologize. I had written him a check for $18,150. They don't accept payment plans. They don't help with insurance coding. They just expect people to hand over their life savings, and if you question any of it -- well, you're out! If this clinic had any respect for patients, they'd listen. They'd help. They'd have the decency to speak face-to-face. I left their office feeling humiliated and discarded. A few years later I decided to get an implant and had a consultation with Beacon. I was told the bone graft needed to be made larger before I could get an implant. I was also told that I would need to have anesthesia. I got a second opinion at another oral surgeon in the area. The second one told me that my original bone graft was sufficient and I would not need anesthesia. I went with the second oral surgeon. I did not need anesthesia and had nitrous oxide instead. It all went well and was less costly. A couple of years later my implant is doing fine, Always get a second opinion. Beacon's estimate for the procedure was very high and had added on expenses that did not need to be done.

I had an emergency dental visit during the holidays for onset of tooth pain from wisdom teeth and I…read moreended up being referred to Beacon for wisdom teeth removal where I was seen by Dr. Lieblick. The overall experience was poor. They only provide out of network insurance coverage, which typically means an increased cost to the patient, but I was assured by Dr. Lieblick the surgery would be uncomplicated after doing X-rays and I was eager to have some pain relief and get rid of the problem. After my surgery, there was no post op check from the doctor, I was monitored by a dental assistant until my spouse picked me up. I had questions regarding the procedure, but he had already stepped into his next case so no review or discharge was given from him. One week after the surgery, I was still in extensive pain that radiated to my jaw and temple, significant swelling across my face and in the back of my throat making it difficult to swallow, and a foul taste in my mouth. Giving benefit of the doubt, I did a call consultation on a Saturday where the on call doctor, Dr. Rehrer, told me to "ride it out" because the symptoms were normal, but offered to come in if the information above persisted on Monday. I did, so they were able to squeeze me in where Dr. Rehrer took a quick look inside my mouth and told me "everything looks fine, unfortunately you have delayed healing." I came in that Monday seeking help and instead felt dismissed by the surgeon. As a first time mom who is currently nursing and having all these dental issues it has been extremely difficult and painful to eat and even swallow liquid due to swelling and Dr. Rehrer did not offer any further assistance or empathy for that matter. Still in pain, I sought a second opinion from another doctor. They told me Dr. Lieblick left an exposed root, I had dry socket, and I was started on antibiotics and even steroids for the major inflammation. I do not prefer amalgam and wanted an alternative treatment. His billing staff did not correctly request a pre-authorization with my insurance company to cover the alternative treatment and I was stuck with choosing the amalgam. Luckily, I went to another dentist office who informed me that I DON'T have a cavity. 2. The billing staff didn't provide a written explanation of why my night guard is necessary (because I grind at night) so my insurance won't cover it until the evidence is provided. I have talked with the staff three times about getting this taken care of and they STILL are demanding I pay for the part that insurance was supposed to be covered. My treatment was 6 months ago!!!! So far, on a routine cleaning, dental assistant broke one of my crowned molars. Was furious,but allowed him to finish other scheduled crown before vowing to not use him again. Due to laziness on my part and living in one town and working in another, I came back after a few years so they could try to make it right. Upon coming back, Keilman dentistry was still rougher than most dentists but as a vet, we can take quite a beating before complaining. Although some of the techs were competent in cleaning, I put off extraction of the molar until it started causing problems. "Dave" became billing coordinator somewhere in this time and my portion of payments on the estimate fluctuated up and down. I would tell them to tell me exactly what I had to pay so that I would not owe after insurance paid out. Never was it the same. On my last visit, I finally had them extract the tooth they had broken and crown another. In the billing estimate, I was told a certain price. When insurance paid and I had paid, I was billed $300+ more than estimate and was told "Insurance companies" can change what they pay "at will". Insurance company has told me they haven't changed prices and the mistake on Dr. Keilman's estimate was billing department quoting me price for gold versus white colored crown. A distinction I care nothing about since it was a molar! If you are looking for competent dentistry along with fair billing, move along. Sadly,You won't find it here. If I could give zero stars, I would.
