6 years ago I had a molar removed by another oral surgeon because the root died. At the time the surgeon also did a bone graft in case I wanted an implant in the future. A few years later I decided to get an implant and had a consultation with Beacon. I was told the bone graft needed to be made larger before I could get an implant. I was also told that I would need to have anesthesia. I got a second opinion at another oral surgeon in the area. The second one told me that my original bone graft was sufficient and I would not need anesthesia. I went with the second oral surgeon. I did not need anesthesia and had nitrous oxide instead. It all went well and was less costly. A couple of years later my implant is doing fine, Always get a second opinion. Beacon's estimate for the procedure was very high and had added on expenses that did not need to be done. read more

We had a great experience at Beacon. My son had a complex wisdom tooth removal that involved extra teeth. Dr. Lieblick noticed problems our regular dentist overlooked. My 23-year-old son recently had a consultation at this office regarding the removal of two impacted wisdom teeth. At no point prior to or during the consultation was he informed that they were out of network with Delta Dental, one of the largest dental insurance providers. It wasn't until the end of the appointment that he was presented with a $600 bill for the consultation and informed that the procedure would require over $2,600 out of pocket. Having worked in the dental field for over 10 years, I was very surprised and disappointed that the out-of-network status and expected out-of-pocket costs were not clearly explained in advance. Financial transparency is extremely important, especially for a college student working part-time and paying for his own care. Patients should be given the opportunity to fully understand their insurance coverage and financial responsibility before services are rendered. I contacted the office and requested a call back from the doctor/owner to discuss whether this may be a training or communication issue that could be improved to prevent similar situations for other patients. Unfortunately, it has now been two weeks, and I am still waiting for that call. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously and improves its communication and billing transparency for future patients. read more

Initially my experience was great, they tried to squeeze me in for a procedure. The appointment was still over a month out and over two hours away from where I lived but I appreciated their efforts. When I initially called they asked if I was interested in implants. I said not at this time but possibly down the road, they asked if I wanted a cost breakdown of implants I said sure. I completed all of the paperwork and watched the videos about "my procedure." The day before my procedure I called because I had not been given any additional information about my procedure. They then said THIS WAS JUST A CONSULT! I was like consult for what and why would I drive two hours for a ten minute consult! I have an office 30 minutes away! I was told because implants were being discussed. One can imagine my disappointment knowing my procedure was not going to be done because they wanted to try to sell me something, I already said I wasn't buying. Historically Beacon has been great they did the consult right before the procedure. That is what should have happened here. read more

I was real nervous to come have my Wisdom teeth out at 49 years old, as most of us would be at any age. Well, rest assured you'll be in top notch hands at Beacon! Everyone I dealt with was fantastic! From reception to consult to procedure to discharge. I felt so comfortable the entire time. Dr Rehrer was my surgeon and he was great! The most interaction I had, both on consult day as well as procedure day, was with his surgical assistant Brittany. I hope that's your title and how you spell your name;) She was amazing!! Dr. Rehrer is fantastic! I had my wisdom teeth removed last week, and was feeling a little more pain than I felt was normal. I called the Camas office and was able to set up an appointment for the next day to get it checked out. Dr. Rehrer and his staff are extremely kind, and always take the time to explain procedures and answer any questions. The receptionists are also very kind and welcoming. I don't know of anyone that is excited to have to see an oral surgeon, but I can't recommend Dr. Rehrer enough. He takes the time to explain things, as well as makes you feel as comfortable as possible with the procedures. To anyone that needs an oral surgeon, Beacon is the place to go. read more

Nobody really wants write a review about having a tooth pulled... I've now had two experiences with getting unsalvageable molars pulled by Dr. Lieblick both at the Gresham and Camas locations. The office staff are very nice and helpful. The dental/surgical assistants are extremely knowledgeable and professional, walking you through the process from start to finish. Dr. Lieblick has a great bedside manner and a gentle hand, is patient in answering questions (I'm full of them), and is very reassuring in talking you through the procedure as he is doing it. He makes getting a tooth extracted about as pleasant a process as it can be. I was really anxious to do the first procedure last year without general anesthesia (it's so expensive!) but I really felt no pain or discomfort with just the local. I am 50 years old and was not looking forward to getting my upper wisdom teeth out. I didn't want sedation due to a past bad reaction. Checking in I was so nervous but the front desk gals chatted with me and were super friendly which helped take my mind off things. I think my sweet assistant was Victoria but I honestly can't remember. She was a pretty young blonde. Great bedside manner and I loved how she let me know what was going on. Dr Rehrer is great with kids. Each time he's treated one of our kids, he's taken the time listen to us and address our concerns. You can tell he takes pride in his work really wants the best possible outcome. He's especially good at developing a rapport with kids to put them at ease. He has five kids of his own -- so that connection comes easily for him. He's a smart guy, but takes the time to make sure we understand the procedure, any alternatives, pros/cons, and anticipated outcomes. I've learned that dentistry is an increasingly competitive profession. As a result, many dentists seek to supplement their revenue by performing work that has traditionally been done by oral surgeons. Most dentists don't have the specialized training required of oral surgeons. If you need your wisdom teeth removed or other complex procedures, you're far better off using an oral surgeon. Beacon OMS seems like an outstanding group of professionals and Dr Rehrer gets my highest recommendation. read more

This summer when I had my wisdom teeth removed, I got dry socket after one day from the removal. It was the most painful experience of my life and I did not sleep for over 7 days before falling unconscious. I repeatedly called asking for some assistance and was told over and over to simply take more pain medication (which was also counterproductive to my harsh anemic condition). I finally recovered on my own after about two weeks with no medical help. I would not recommend coming here due to this terribly painful experience. read more

I was seen at the Vancouver location for an initial evaluation (sort of a pre-op appointment) of a lower molar. It had lost a filling more than 6 months ago, but I was on the Medicaid program. . . While on said insurance I was only allowed one checkup & cleaning per year, & I either had to have it pulled (clear up in seattle--174 miles away) or pay out of pocket ($1300 & also a trip to Tacoma--143 mile). Needless to say, dental HMO's that deal strictly with Medicaid & Medicare do as little as possible (the State doesn't even allow for nitrous oxide)so they can keep their funding. However, the shoddy treatment has cost me a mouth full of healthy teeth. Hence, the drastic need to remove this tooth. The Beacon team(s) is terrific! During the pre-op appointment it was explained to me everything that would happen when they performed my tooth extraction. I explained to them that I have been diagnosed with Major-Depressive Disorder (MDD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from childhood trauma, & Borderline Personality Disorder, & they comforted me by confirming that they have clients that are mentally & physically challenged & with social anxieties like mine. I was treated like I was the most important person in the room, & I don't get that a lot (unless I'm on stage). My procedure was scheduled in the Gresham, OR office, & I was treated just as prestigiously as I was in Vancouver. I asked specifically for a business card with individual names of the folks on "my team." My memory being what it is I wanted to give a shout to Patti, who tried to comfort me & hold my hand. Two thumbs super up for Dominique & Sydney. I think it was Sydney that had new (that day) retainers in & was self-conscious about her lisp (which I find attractive, appealing, sexy. . . depends on the moment). I told her that I love lisps; I had a crush on Phil Donahue (you'll have to Google) as a young teen. While being fitted for the nitrous mask, I informed Patti (I think it was only Pattti in the room at that moment--just before meeting Sydney, I think) that I can panic when I feel like I'm being strapped in &/or feeling like someone is smothering me (something on my face), & she IMMEDIATELY reached out & rubbed my forearm with enough energy 2 drive out the fear. It was both weird AND AWESOME!!! Eventually, I let her know that I could see her soul, aura, mind, heart. . . or whatever the word of choice. . . & it is golden, like Ponyboy (Hinton, S.E. The Outsiders. Viking Press, 1967.). While on the laughing gas, I let it be known that I dabble in stand up--something I seldom do unless I'm promoting someone else. I met my dentist, Mr. Brandon S. Rehrer, DDS, in a state of pure authenticity, & proclaimed: "Ima tell e'ryone to put the weed down & start totin' nitrous tank backpacks." He told me "that was funny." Why is it always an honor for me to make someone laugh? When the laugh is pure & BEFORE they know I perform, I am always flattered. Also, I got a swag bag full of goodies! After Care instructions, an irrigation syringe, two bags of tea, a bunch of iodized salt packets (very thoughtful!), a few other things (like a DQ treat--can't eat it, allergic to dairy), & the business card that reads: "You Did Awesome, Tracey G. =)" Lastly, Mr. Barndon S. Rehrer, DDS, called me that night to make certain I was recovering. When I returned the call, the receptionist even asked if there was anything else they could do for me. It made me feel important. Recovery pain is so much easier to contend with than an exposed nerve. For a trip to a dental surgeon, it was a satisfying. I highly recommend this office for any oral and maxillofacial work. read more

Up front on what to expect and costs and very professional. Recently I went in for my implants stability test and all was great and had heeled. As the doctor was leaving the room he Thank me for heeling nicely. I thought that was so cool. Everyone involved was wonderful and I would recommend them to anyone and any family members that needed to have a tooth replaced with an implant. They are a very caring group of professionals. My dentist is the one who recommended them and set up my first appointment. He himself had them work on him at one time. I recently received a dental implant from Beacon Oral (Camas location) and the actual process and doctors there I felt were very good. I am giving them a one star because after being told that my insurance would cover my tooth extraction, months later I was informed that they would not and that on top of the $3k I already paid I would have to pay for that now too. When I said "I thought you verified that ahead of time" I was rudely told it's my responsibility to check with my insurance company and that they only do it out of courtesy...but why would I when you told me you already checked and that they cover it?? She said they had never seen that dental plan before (like its odd), but it's the same dental plan that all WA State employees are given so it's very common. When I told the front office staff person this, their response was "well it sounds like you know a lot about it" in a flippant tone as if to imply that I should have known what is and is not covered then. I was so surprised by the way this was said to me that I just sat in silence for a good 5 seconds after her comment. I do feel this was an error on their part and that they could have handled it in a better way. Empty apologies with no empathy or ownership of the mistake is not the way to treat patients. I certainly wouldn't talk to a patient that way, its patronizing. I also wouldn't let what I consider such an insignificant amount of money ruin a potential ongoing patient relationship and referral source. If I had known the extract portion would not be covered I might have considered other options or I might not have but at least I would have been able to make an informed decision, not a misinformed one. Again my experience with the oral surgeons, assistants and the overall implant process at Beacon Oral was mostly positive...billing and the professionalism of the front office staff, not so much. I was referred by my general dentist for an implant. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. The procedure was a huge success and not at all what I was expecting. The follow up care was great and quite thorough. While I'm hoping to not need another implant, I would certainly choose Beacon for any oral surgery needs. read more

I went to Beacon to get a consultation since I get a lot of migraines. Before I saw the doctor, the technician basically dismissed my problem and told me that as a person who gets migraines, I should follow what she does and she then suggested medications I should take. She didn't know any of my history or how severe and how often my migraines were. But she basically was treating me and was not qualified to do so. Then the doctor came in and basically dismissed my concerns too. After he left, the technician continued to try to treat my problem based on how she handled her own migraines. Her treatment plan was for medications and dosages that I shouldn't even take as they could have a negative interaction with my current medications. But she continued to offer treatment advice based on her own experience with migraines. I found this to be very very unprofessional to say the least. read more

I recently had an oral surgery here with Dr. Lieblick, and my experience went great! I had 5 wisdom teeth and one was growing slanted into another tooth.. I was really worried about my surgery tho I couldn't wait to get it over with because the teeth were bothering me. The staff is excellent, always willing to explain everything being done, never rushed, the proper use of numbing means never any pain. Unprofessional and dishonest! I took my son in for an extraction (braces), and was told by the office staff that they are a preferred provider with my insurance. I was given a price estimate and was told that actual cost may be 20-40 dollars more (worse case), or perhaps less (refund would be provided). The bill came in at 10x their estimate. When I questioned why the cost was so much higher than anticipated I was told it was because they are not a preferred provider of my insurance, and that they only gave me an "estimate". At no time during our consult did they tell me that my cost could be so high, nor did they disclose that they were not a preferred provider, and thus my cost would be significantly higher. They do a good "sell job" during consultation, but watch out. I would have gone to a different oral surgeon. I suppose bait and switch is a tactic of Beacon. I called several times and left several messages to have one of the partners discuss my situation. They refused to talk to me, address the situation, or discuss payment options. They obviously don't value or respect their patients. I would have give them a zero star rating if possible, and will be addressing their business practices with state governing agencies.
