I think this might one of my favorite dog friendly restaurants in Vancouver! Every single person on Havana's team is wonderful, friendly and super understanding. A warm, friendly, super welcoming, vibrant and wonderful environment place to be on a rainy day with the most delicious crispy perfect fish tacos and sangria!

We tried: Happy hour Cubano - I appreciated it that it was not greasy, and wasn't a goopy mess of mayo like other ones I've had. I think I would like a bit more meat in it, but overall it was good. Happy hour burger - it was actually pretty good. The bun was fresh, the veggies crisp, and the patty was a good smash burger with nice flavour. If I were ordering it again, I would ask for an extra patty, as the meat gets a bit lost with everything in the burger. Happy hour chips & salsa - we added guacamole to our order. The salsa was very bland. We both doused each chip we ate with the very mild hot sauce they brought to the table. The chips were good. Happy hour beers - both the house lime lager and ale were tasty. The Cuban old fashioned - my friend enjoyed her drink. I thought it was too sweet. Santa Clara sling - it was good, but needed more acidity and was sweet. Classic pineapple daiquiri - good but needed more lime. I appreciated that while it wasn't on the menu, they made it for me and only charged me $10 during happy hour! Guava margarita slush - it was actually pretty good but a bit too sweet for us. We fixed that by adding a couple of extra shots of tequila to it. The place got very busy by 5:30pm, and the atmosphere was lively and staff were great. I think my main quibble is that the drinks and food menu seems to think it's mostly a Mexican restaurant, which is why I'm only giving it 3 stars.

We ordered the fried tripe tacos, beef tongue tacos and cheese pupusa tonight and found the tripe taco to be the best choice; it had a nice flavour and texture to it, unlike the other things we ordered. The green sauce that came with the tacos were lacking something to it and the pupusa sauce was just disappointing- it felt like water pretending to be a sauce. The beef tongue tacos were ok: full of meat but lacking flavour. The pupusa was just sad as it was cold and flimsy. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend.

There is no AC here but they do take credit card. We ordered an order for salsa and chips with a side of guacamole. The small guacamole costs almost $6. However, the chips is the kind of chips I have been searching for since my Los Cabos trip. We also ordered a pork soup. The pork soup is amazing. The meat is very tender and if you add the chips, lettuce and lime that comes with the soup, it brings the soup to the next level. The tacos doesn't come with any salsas but it is similar to the ones I had at the Los Cabos resort. We also ordered a dinner set. The food is quite good. I don't mind going back on a cool day but I do find that their food is on the more expensive side based on the portion and price of the food.

Everyone speaks Spanish whether you call or go in person, there is only employee names Leslie though who does speak fluent English. The store sort of reminds me of the little snack stores in all inclusive resorts, with a dessert fridge and trays of pastries. Everything made fresh and decently priced. We recently ordered the 8" tres leche cake for $65, and it is massive! I know it's soaked in three milks, but it was so heavy... it's finished with whipped cream and fruit, and you can choose either coconut or chocolate for the outside. We chose coconut for a less sweet option -!: it was delicious, super moist and tasty. It's a very rich cake though with all the whipped cream, so you can't eat too large a slice. There were plenty of leftovers, so we pre sliced them and freezer them. They defrost in the fridge overnight and taste so good again the next day. Will definitely be back for the tres leche, and ordering more pastries!

We ordered the chips, salsa, and guacamole on Happy Hour for $9 to share and I ordered 4 tacos (2 for $12 during Happy Hour) with the Birria, Nopal (Cactus), Pescado (Codfish), and Coliflor (Cauliflower). I also ordered the Hibiscus Aguas Frescas and my friend got the Horchata. The birria was massive and filled with a ton of meat but didn't have much flavour so had to pour some hot sauce in order to get some flavour. There was enough meat to easily make 2 tacos. The nopal was nice but didn't have much taste and was slightly slightly slimy. Have always wanted to try cactus so this wasn't half bad. The stand out for me was the Pescado as it was crispy and has great sauce and flavour. The Cauliflower taco was also solid. For 4 Happy Hour tacos, happy Hour chips, guacamole, & salsa plus two drinks I paid around $50 including tax and tips. Good service and the restaurant was getting busy on a Thursday night with locals. Definitely worth checking out this authentic establishment, especially with Sal y Lemon that relocated up South on Fraser Street.
