In addition to that, the old gym is a music venue. I didn't move there because most of the rooms don't have bathrooms, so you have to share with everyone. Most of the the studios have no bedrooms either (obviously, but my friend's room does, so I would feel shafted, I think). But most of the rooms are beautiful. I wouldn't move there unless I had a specific project in mind, rather than the casual intention to make music and art. As a music venue, it's pretty sweet. They've done nothing to mask the fact that it's an old gym. I guess that's half the charm. I went to see Xiu Xiu a while back. I thought the sound was great, and the bar was staffed by volunteers from Third Hand Bike Co-op. Overall, a good experience.

Some are simply studios where you have to use a community restroom and kitchen... just a heads up. If you're an artist, free-spirited, and are good at tolerating the unpredictability of living in a building that the city wants to close down, then this is your place. If you don't fit that profile then look elsewhere. I can only really talk about my studio: approx 900 square foot, 16' ceilings, large windows, wood floors, full length chalkboard, elevated loft space... a dream space for a photographer like myself. I pay $825 a month which includes all utilities... even internet! I don't do it often, but I give it 5 stars without hesitation.

Alexander Park Lived…read morehere over 3 years & things were ok not great with Champion owning the place but since Birge & Held took over last year it's WAY worse. If you move here you should know that packages will be misdelivered to other buildings because no one can see the address on all sides only the front. Expensive Christmas presents have been taken by other tenants with no recourse. Someone also broke into (got the master mail keys) for the whole mailbox area and it was left open for weeks. Management couldn't care less. Same people who are supposed to staff Alexander Park office have to also work at Stafford House down the street. Website & hours listed for properties are a lie. Someone is only there less than half the time. So good luck trying to get ahold of anyone to pay your rent in person (online system has screwed up several times & not worked charging late fees) or to pick up a package. Lots of times it's locked and empty or there's a note that they are at the other property. Clearly having 1-2 people to run 2 residences part time is a great business plan to save money. There are also potholes all over the parking lot that have never ever been fixed and they just get worse and worse. Be careful driving in the parking lot as you have to avoid them and some people speeding through. The gym & bathroom in the amenity area are NEVER cleaned or supplied with anything. We've all been waiting for OVEr A YEAR for management to bother putting cleaning wipes or paper towels or water back in the gym area. Many of us have asked for cleaning supplies and just get ignored. These people are so cheap they won't even buy toilet paper or paper towels for the bathroom in the gym. The units only look ok on the outside, they're dark and dingy inside with paper thin walls. You will hear your neighbors say and do everything! From walking or running up the stairs outside to slamming their doors at all hours of the night. Drunk people make noise in the courtyard and parking lot area frequently at night and nothing is ever done. There's been multiple car break ins over the years too. There is no such thing as security here you're on your own. Forget trying to use the amenity pool area because it's either dirty or supplies are never replenished for the bathroom. Some residents will trash the pool deck area with their glass & garbage or even jump the fence & party when it's supposed to be closed. Their solution last year was just to close the pool area after 5 or 6pm on weekdays whenever the staff would leave the office and lock up. A few problem residents got to ruin it for everyone. So you're going to pay for a dirty gym and pool area that's just closed, or dirty or trashed. Nice. Birge and Held have SO many properties & so little staff for each they couldn't care less about residents or improving anything at all. They've had more than enough time to fix basic things or hire staff since acquiring Alexander Park and Stafford House and have done nothing but raise our rent. Enjoy having your rent jacked $200 every year for the privilege of staying in an old shabby apartment. You'd be better off finding somewhere safer to live not owned by this asset management firm.

Our neighbor screams all kinds of obscene things, vacuums at 1:00am, runs up and down the halls at all hours of the night. It's so crazy. Maintenance is terrible. There's dog feces everywhere! Every couple of weeks the dog receptacles over flow, people start leaving bags of poop and actual poop everywhere. We can't open our windows in the summer let alone sit on our porch without looking at overflowing trash or smelling dog crap. It's absolutely disgusting! Pipes used for fire & rescue have burst multiple times. We've received multiple notices of package thefts; our packages were delivered to UPS and we had to pick them up because of the theft problem. "A property owner is responsible for keeping a rental property in habitable condition, that is, fit to be lived in. If there are health or safety issues at the property that are breaching the warranty of habitability, the tenant can contact a local agency regarding the problem." I'd say, no access to water in case of a fire due to burst pipes and feces everywhere ALL of the time is a serious problem. I'll be contacting my local health agency.

He would rather spend his time in Latin America getting drunk and "screwing his maid" as he puts it. The boiler has been broken for 3 months and has yet to be fixed. The landlord is not overly cooperative in lowering rent or decreasing the electric bill to compensate tenants for this inconvenience. There are occasional roaches and mice. Both of which come here due to the poor maintenance of the building. Doors are left open at random for long periods of time allowing all types of critters to enter the building. The building is never cleaned. I have been there 5 years and have not once seen the maintenance guy vacuum the carpet. Bugs are a constant problem, especially spiders. The maintenance guy is lazy and only completes tasks that would be considered an emergency (Like a collapsed ceiling or leaking sink drain that trickles down to other apartments) . The laundry facility is filthy with cat hair, lint, and littered with bugs and cobwebs. The parking lot is never shoveled or salted during the winter months and at this moment there is a giant hole developing in the parking lot. I can literally see into the pipes underneath (maybe it is actually a pathway to hell since that is where I feel I am living minus the overbearing heat!) Several years ago I would have happily recommended this place as a great place to live. Unfortunately, I am over the nostalgia of living in a historic building that is not taken care of. If you have to live downtown, I would recommend the Belmonts or F&W properties. I will be moving shortly.

Managers and Leasing agents changed so many times that it was hard to know who to contact to get things done. When I needed to extend my lease, I sent my request through email I received no reply, I tried to call - no answers. I Tried to stop by the office a few times (during the office hours) and I had no luck. Office doors were closed while the office staff were inside, and no one answered the door. Corporate calls did not help to fix the office staff issue. This issue with extending my lease was resolved only after I contacted the regional manager. In addition, they did not give me my full deposit back once I moved out. When I called to find out what the charge was, the leasing agent said that I didn't return the keys on time. Current manager charged me for as she claims "late keys drop off". The Keys were dropped off into the dropbox on time - Monday May 31, 2021 - Memorial Day (office was closed). I Tried to call them the next day, June 1st, to make sure they got the keys and again no one answered the phone. And somehow on June 1st, they managed to misplace the keys and charged me for one day. The manager or leasing agents didn't contact me or return my calls during the office hours. Instead, the manager decided to contact me via email after office hours around 8:47 pm. I Tried to contact the regional manager regarding this issue, but, apparently, after you become a former resident they don't even listen to you and do not even respond.

Two stars so that while I am living here, I can get some things fixed...after I move out, it goes…read moredown to zero assuming nothing changes. Here's our Fairway Lakes story: We wanted to move out of Mt Vernon. We were selling our house and trying to coordinate with the rental staff at Fairway Lakes(FWL). While working with the sales staff, we were given a really hard time about signing the lease and we felt pressured to do so at a certain time prior to our closing under threat that we would lose our apartment. Against our real estate agent's advice, we signed. Luckily the closing went well and we moved in time. We wanted to move on June 1st but moving on the 1st is against the "rules". So we had to pay extra to get our keys a few days earlier. The Connor group is a bunch of money hungry, greedy pigs that will charge you by the day and nickel and dime you every step of the way for whatever they can. The day of our move, they call me and tell me that our apartment was not ready. I had previously called about a week before and was told everything was set. Yeah, no. They have then set us up with a different apartment(after i established utilities and set up mail forwarding) which is filthy and filled with dog hair, not clean whatsoever. We cleaned it ourselves. We walked into an absolute shitshow. Dog hair in the carpet, screws and nails sticking out, appliances not working correctly, mold and wet spots in the basement, walls looked like crap, etc. We put requests in but it was WEEKS before we received any response and that was after we sent complaints to The Connor Group cooperate email addresses. Since then, they have raised our rent from 1299 to 1359 per month. Additionally, there is a "utilities package" that we were told would be $230 however it is really about $280. It includes cable tv(2 boxes), decent internet, water, waste water, trash, and an approximate 10 dollar "administrative" fee every month. I'm going to stop here for a second and mention a couple positive things. We are 2 minutes from I270 and can reach anywhere within Columbus in 20 minutes or less, the school district is New Albany, and Tad, the head maintenance guy is awesome. He helped us install custom light switches that work with our smart home stuff. Also they are pretty chill about custom stuff like painting, installing customer things in the place and what not. However, as of right now, I have 7 pending maintenance requests, including faulty smoke detectors. Some of these requests date back more than two months. When Phil from maintenance does comes out, he NEVER comes when he says he will. When he finally does, he does a half ass job and is rude throughout the process. He almost never leaves a job done completely. Any complaints to the office remain unaddressed even after asking for managers. It is absolutely terrible service and it doesn't matter how many times I call. It makes no difference. I will update this review later on after we move out with more detail about how that process works as well and how much money they scam us out of our deposit at that point. In the meantime, there are better options in the area with less headaches and nonsense.
