He had an injury to his ribs and a sprained thumb. In December of 2006 I enrolled David at RJA and I have never regretted my decision. David did Kenpo and Jujitsu in the last month of 2006. David started as a no-gi and had to earn his gi. David is now a Senior Green Belt. David is only taught by black belts and professors. Students assist instructors but children's safety comes first. He has not had any injuries at Redding Jujitsu in the 8 years he has been there. He is in high school now, so his grades take priority. This school is the Best of the Best.

Redding Tae Kwon Do teaches you all the fundamentals governed by the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. Which is a member of the IOC Olympic Committee. I believe any current of future students who learn from Master Kim will enrich themselves with greater learning of the art of Tae Kwon Do. Master Kim is a great instructor with excellent teaching and communication skills. The Studio is incredibly clean and well maintained. There is a viewing area for parents or friends to watch quietly as the students train on the wall to wall padded training floor. Along with plenty of kicking bags, punching pads, and sparring gear, Redding Tae Kwon Do is the best place to learn with safety in mind! I was able to push him away gently, without escalating the situation, but firm enough to deliver the message that his behavior was not ok. It happened almost instantly. With my determined gesture he let me go right away. It was the most liberating experience. In my past, I would not have known what to do, I would freeze, letting him harass me further, probably end up being upset about it for days and weeks. I think this type of situation can happen to anyone, not just to women. Training helps me to prepare for the unexpected and builds my confidence. Furthermore, it shapes my body and mind. My attitude is a lot brighter now and people have commented that I look much more confident. The instructors are so dedicated and passionate about what they are doing. And they are so capable! They are my role models. I look forward to my classes every time. Joining Shotokan Karate was one of the best choices in my life.

I'm writing it because as a prospective student--and as a man--I believe in being honest, standing by my experience, and holding people accountable for basic professionalism and courtesy. I initially reached out to Legacy Martial Arts / Kung Fu San Soo in Redding because I was genuinely interested in what they had to offer. I made several attempts to contact the instructor, both through phone calls (voicemails left) and via the website's contact form. I even showed up in person once and found him teaching a private lesson, which I completely understood. But despite multiple efforts over an extended period, I received no reply whatsoever. Eventually, I left a message through the website expressing my disappointment, and I posted an honest review outlining my experience. Almost immediately after that, I received a phone call--his first response--offering an apology and citing a "family emergency" as the reason for the lack of communication. While I do sympathize with personal crises (we all face them), the timeline of my attempts to reach out didn't quite match up with that excuse. Emergencies don't last for weeks without a single moment to return a message--or have someone else do so on your behalf. It didn't add up. Even then, the apology was lukewarm at best. What I got was, "One of my students saw your review, which is unfortunate." In other words: he wasn't concerned that I felt disrespected--he was concerned that his student saw a negative review. It felt more like damage control than a sincere apology. Despite that, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I took the review down and told him I wouldn't pursue this further. I figured, maybe we just weren't a good fit. But again--no reply. No follow-up. No closure. Just silence. Later, I reached out one last time to express how I felt--not to stir the pot, but to give him one more opportunity to show some human decency, to say, "Hey, I messed up. I'd like to make it right." But once again--silence. At some point, silence becomes a statement in itself. Whether it's passive disregard or some misguided idea of dignity, it's a bad look either way. A simple acknowledgment, even just a "wish you the best," would've gone a long way. But that didn't happen. So yes, I'm reposting this review. Not out of anger, but because I stand by my conviction: when someone repeatedly ghosts you, gives vague excuses, and only responds when their reputation is at risk--it speaks volumes about their character and their business. To anyone considering training here, just know this was my experience. Maybe yours will be different--but this is mine. And I have every right to share it.
