I have had Comcast for a couple of years. It is bad enough that the Cable "Xfinity" and the internet signals have both been subpar, but then you must deal with Comcasts "Customer NO Service" department. In my experience, I always have long wait times, am repeated put on long holds, and rarely have the "right person that can help". A supervisor will NEVER be available if you request to speak to one. The agent will always offer to have one call you, but that will not happen. If you make an appointment outside of normal business hours, make sure you are speaking with someone in the continental United States. I have waited in my home for a technician who never arrived only to be told that I spoke to an "outsourced office" after hours and they should not have confirmed a technician. 150 MB download speed? NOT! I have paid for "Blast" for a year now and barley make it to 30MB on any of my computers. After several attempts to have this corrected, I was told that that verbiage used was "UP TO 150MB" so anything below is acceptable. My cable signal is not consistent... I feel as if I am in one of those "buffering" commercials when I am staring at little square pixels on the TV hoping it will clear up. Comcast seems to have great rates when you are a new customer. Be aware that these rates also come with 2 year agreements. Once your "bundle" special has ended, you become ineligible for any future promotions, because they are for "new members only". If you choose to keep Comcast, you will then ALWAYS have a higher cable bill. Again, do your research... There are so many options today for internet and cable. Hopefully, this will save just one family from staring at TV programs with pixels, waiting for slow internet to load all while wondering what they are paying almost $250 per month.... Comcast gets more complaints about its internet service than AT&T, Verizon and Time Warner Cable combined. And it isn't just a matter of Comcast's size--the three smaller competitors together have about 15 million more subscribers than Comcast though they still receive far fewer complaints. Between January 1 and November 9 of 2015, Comcast received 11,812 complaints, versus AT&T's 3,896, Verizon's 1,588 and Time Warner Cable's 1,240. Appalling customer service. The technician who showed up at our house was curt to the point of rudeness. After an electrician updated our cable wiring, television service wouldn't work. The electrician and I spent an additional hour on the phone with Comcast's customer service representative before she decided someone would have to come out again! I recently got a mailer from Comcast advertising fast internet for $19.99 for 6 months or $49.99 for Blast Plus for higher internet speeds and basic local channels. I decide this a good deal and would be a good change from Verizon DSL I use for internet and Direct TV since I could combine both services for $49.99 (for the first 6 months since price goes up $20 after - but still a good deal since it's still less than my current separate plans). Our technician comes on 9/8/2012 to do the install. He sets up the internet with the cable modem and gets ready to leave when I ask him what about the TV. He says his paperwork only says internet and advises me to call Comcast back to setup another appointment. No problem, I still have Direct TV. I call Comcast and I get yo-yoed between the sales dept who says I'm already a customer and transfers me to customer service and customer service who says I should be transferred to sales because technically, this is new service I'm requesting. I finally get someone who decides to take ownership and sets me up for another appointment. Great! I get another tech who comes on 9/16 and sets up TV service. Great. I realize this service does not include a DVR but only a cable box (I knew I was getting standard definition and less channels but I forgot to ask about the DVR... My mistake) I get another mailer advertising fast internet for $19.99 for 1 year with a 1-year contract. I decide ok, let me switch TV service back to Direct TV (thank God I did not cancel them) and switch my $49.99 internet + TV plan to $19.99 internet only plan. I go outside to switch the cables back to the satellite dish only to realize the last Comcast tech cut the cable. He did not disconnect my existing Direct TV to connect to Comcast. He just cut the cable to Direct TV. Great! I call Direct TV so they can come and rewire. They are happy to oblige for a small $49.99 fee. No problem. I call Comcast to switch to the internet plan. On 9/24, I call Comcast and get yo-yoed between the sales dept who says I can't do that because I'm an existing customer (really, after only 16 days after the first installation) and customer service who says I should be transferred to sales because, technically,... you know, this is new service. Really? I say I want to cancel. My service gets cancelled the same evening. Now, I want to personally congratulate Comcast for doing something very well. They cancelled my service on the same day I called to cancel, bravo. I also want to officially notify Comcast that I will personally make every effort and due diligence to mention: my experience with Comcast as a whole, my experience with their technicians (I forgot to mention the first tech who came out just left the cover for the cable box outside laying on the ground, and forgot his screwdriver and left without screwing back a small panel he took apart in the house, nice. And the second tech cut the cable to my existing Direct TV service leading me to pay an additional charge of $49.99 to have Direct TV come to fix it.), my experience with customer care over the phone as well as their sales department, the lack of customer service I got, even though I was assured every step of the way that everything was done to keep me satisfied, the lack of anyone attempting to get a manager involved to save a customer or override the system, the fact that Comcast was so quick to deny any promotion to a new customer based on the fact that promotions are for new customers only (yup, that makes total sense). I contacted Comcast, ordered service, got 2 technicians to get completely setup and cancelled service all within a 3 week period. Worst phone service ever.. I can't even a explain how horrible. And the wifi on my phone cuts out every 5 minutes when I'm on the floor above or below ... This problem never happened with Verizon. read more

*** THIS RATING IS BASED OFF OF COMCAST AS A WHOLE*** First of all I currently live somewhere that ONLY gets serviced by COMCAST, uhm can we say monopolistic (of course I think this has a lot to with where I live as well); however, since I didn't want to face the possibility of early termination fees, I chose a package with no contract (that at the time would've cost me 89.99 + taxes and equipment with a 2 YEAR contract). This was in the event I fell upon hard financial times and had to terminate my service without penalty. Well, I have been at my residence for over a year and half now and my rates continue to rise. I just called today and was transferred to the (wait for it....) customer retention department for which I was offered my same services (which is all i need) for an overall (minus taxes) monthly bill only about 10-15 dollars less than my current bill advising me that that is the lowest they can offer me. Oh wait,! the lesser package they can offer me below this one would take away over 100 of my channels (keep in mind i have the starter service as it is) and reduce my internet to service that would allow me to receive and send emails (per the representative's exact verbiage). I normally don't post reviews good or bad but I just had to for them because this is ridiculous and price gouging! I don't think that for a 2 bedroom apartment where I only have ONE TV and ONE computer AND ONE TABLET plus 2 cell phones utilizing the WI-FI ----- I pay more for this one TV cable box, Internet service and home phone than people who have multiple TVs in their homes and multiple computers and tablets.... I am hoping to find another solution and hopefully just terminate my services altogether. This is utterly ridiculous. read more

Horrible customer service. After multiple phone calls to address Internet connection issues they determined that it was not a hardware issue. Their solution have a tech come out. Next tech not available until five days later! No attempt to move their schedule around even after they admitted the service issues were their fault. Way to step up Comcast. read more

I have been a comcast customer for the last 4 years & this last year had been terrible. My internet (Xfinity X5) has went out about 3 times in the last month. We pay almost over $200 a month for a service that is not efficient and reliable. I will be discontinuing this service & calling to get my bill revised because I should not have to pay for a service that does not work. Worst service ever. The people in the Manassas service center are nice enough, but you have to call an 800 number for problems. They never want to admit it's their equipment or lines. They keep you on the phone checking every single connection from each tv to the wall, and then the modem/router. it's ridicuous the runaround you have to endure to get the slightest problem fixed. We have bulk service to DVCC and supposedly a dedicated team to handle the problems in our community. What a joke. read more

I was almost run off the road by one of their drivers. It happened on Sunday April 28th at 4:55pm. He was in a white Chevy Colorado going south on RT28 when he cut across three lanes of traffic with no signal. He almost hit me and then pulled infront of another car and slammed on his brakes so he could give me the finger. I called the local service center and was told there wasn't much they could do because I didn't chase him down to get the number on the back of his truck. STAY AWAY - If you read other reviews it is self explanatory. Comcast customer service SUCKS! I was without home phone and internet service on a Sunday and after 3 different people trying to reboot the system from their end was told they couldn't get anyone out to look at it until Friday - 5 days with no phone or internet and I explained I worked from home and it was crucial I get it fixed. Didn't matter. Now the best part is my appointment was Friday between 8:00-10:00 a.m. - what a surprise, no one showed up or called. This is the second time this has happened. After waiting all day for my 2 hour window in the evening that time I called after no one showed up and was told they tried to call but no one answered so the tech didn't come. What a bunch of crap. This time I kept the phone by my side and still no one called or showed up. Apparently the technicians can tell them that your not home or don't answer your phone to avoid the service call and it voids their customer satisfaction guarantee because it becomes your fault. The tech is probably running errands or getting breakfast at my expense. I will definitely be looking for another service - COMCAST IS HORRIBLE. read more

For months I was trying to bundle my phone service, the sales person would always have a problem, say it was a system problem and they would call me back within 2 hours. Well guess what? Nobody ever called me back. This is after being on the phone with a representative for 45 minutes or longer. On my fifth and final try before going over to another provider I tried one more time and thankfully got a representative named Alix or Elix out of Manassas Virginia. She too had some difficulty bringing my number over from Verizon. She said that it was blocked for some reason and she would call me back between two to four hours. I did not have much faith that this was going to happen. Not only did call me back and give me a status update, she was able to fix the problem. After months of frustrating calls I found a person who truly cared about the customer and took the time to resolve a problem. She has tried to call me back several times when I was away from the phone to make sure that the time she scheduled was convenient. I don't know who her boss is, but I hope they read this and give her a well deserve raise or an award. I can contest that she is a part of small percentage of people that actually is knowledgeable and cares about the customer. Thank You Alix where ever you are! read more

I was thinking about becoming a new Comcast customer and made a call to XFINITY. I was routed to the Richmond Virginia office and reached a lady that had no business working anywhere let alone in a customer service call center. I have rocks in my garden that have more signs of intelligence than this person. Not only was she rude, laughing and couldn't answer ANY questions but she flat out lied. Disgusted with this person I called XFINITY again to reach someone else and asked for a supervisor "crystal" who flat out lied and was just as ghetto spoken as the first individual. I was looking at a triple play package and was curious about two things. My first question to her was in this package it states (A Digital Voice modem is necessary to bring XFINITY Voice from Comcast into your home. (Add $7.00 per month) I asked is this included in the $199.99 or would this be in addition to my bill. She said it is included in the $199.99 which is a lie it isn't. Second question was in the check out it says that the package prices do not include applicable taxes and fees. So I asked her if I could get an apx. price of what these taxes and fees might be monthly. After her telling me no 20 times she finally goes hold on and 1 minute later gave me a figure of $18.28 and said we looked it up. Why wouldn't you do your job as a supervisor in the first place and look it up. So instead of just the 2 questions I decided to ask her a final question and said to avoid the $7.00 monthly rental (the one she said was included) can I just purchase a voice modem and use it? Her answer was no you can't purchase a voice modem and use it (another lie). I called back in hopes of getting someone with some kind of brain and got lucky.
