I've seen mostly local or regional comedians, but there was one show were the comedians were from Los Angeles area. There is a full bar, so plenty of drink options, and the staff has been great, too. I feel like they want to add to the fun their guests have. The venue feels intimate, but it is a decent sized spot and great for groups, dates, or fun with friends. There are very few comedy-only venues, and this is one if them, so be sure to support local comedy!

They took my name and number and told us we could wait in the bar or leave and wait for text if they had no-shows. We waited in the bar and had a drink, and as luck would have it, they had a couple of no-shows. BONUS: they put us in the 2nd row! The show was great, and the staff, from the hostess to the bouncer and bartenders and servers, were all excellent! Highly recommend!

I got their watermelon lemonade slushy (I think), and it was pretty good! It was a little strong for me though. The show itself was pretty good. It can get packed, so I recommend coming a little early to get good seats. There were 20 comedians, and I think they had 3 minutes (that might be wrong) per set. Some people were good, some people weren't, but they were all fun! I'll definitely be coming back. No photos, since phones weren't allowed during the show.

Four actors plus a fab musician on keyboards co-create a marvelous- and so funny- improv show for kids, all ages but perhaps geared towards the 3-8 age crowd. The parents and sibs love it, too- lots of laughing and applause. The performance spaces are nice and open and the performers have room to move, incorporate some props, include the audience members. Really talented crew each time. So fun. At Art House there are treats for purchase, comfy seats, and loads of space to move around and explore, if your kid gets extra-wiggly. Aubergine is a lovely space, too. Great acoustics, very bright and welcoming. Tickets are only $6, so it makes for a very reasonably priced Sunday morning family outing! Highly recommend.

I am guessing this was not their regular show but a shortened version since they were doing three different performances at the festival on this evening. The troupe was quite funny. Of course improv can be hit or miss especially when trying to engage with a big crowd that was moving in and out of the tent (many were in the tent avoiding the rain). We definitely had a many good laughs. We now plan to go to one of their regular shows.

Participating in improv is one of my worst nightmares. I can't imagine being onstage and not…read moreknowing what's coming up next, having to make things up on the fly, and trying to be funny on top of it all. However, I married my opposite. Ben T. decided to try improv after having been an actor on the side a few times, and he loved classes at Atlas. I will leave it to him to fully review the classes here, but I will say that he had a lot of fun, learned a lot, and met some really cool people (who he then introduced me to!). At the end of the improv course, you can participate in a class show. For me, this would be one of those "opportunities" that I would rather pass up. But Ben was really excited about it -- And I was very excited to be an audience member and see what he had learned over the course of 10 weeks. I was lucky to have met a few of the other improv course attendees, and I really think it added something special to the show to know a few people participating in it. Atlas is in a great location, although I found the parking lot difficult to find on a dark night. I ended up parking in a nearby parking lot and hoping I wouldn't be ticketed. The inside of Atlas is really cozy and cute, and the people up front were friendly. Since I was there early and by myself, I was seated right up front. The seating is a bit close together... So I made a new friend, the person sitting next to me! The show was hilarious. It reminded me a lot of Whose Line is it Anyway, which I used to LOVE and cry-laugh watching. The emcees (course instructors) were funny, friendly, and encouraging. The point system can get crazy, like it was on Whose Line, which adds to the fun. The audience was great at throwing out ideas when solicited for what we ate for breakfast or random letters of the alphabet, although to be honest even this made me nervous. I think I was just waiting for some point where they would drag someone on stage or something like that, but we were safe in the audience! I can't wait to make it here for the "real" non-student shows. If the students learned that much in 10 weeks at Level 1 I think the more experienced people would be insanely talented. I was very proud of Ben T. and the rest of his class!

The performing arts center offers many opportunities to see various art forms including galleries,…read moreplays, musicals and music. I've recently discovered the broadway subscription package and highly recommended. The packages offer varying price points with some around 50-60 per show. Arrive early and visit the free galleries throughout.

It is a bar atmosphere but big plus was a low pub table. The chairs were higher than normal but not as high as a pub chair. Easy to sit on. The atmosphere was a little loud but fine. Due to my medically necessary diet I can't have soda and club soda is something that feels like a treat when we are out and everyone else is drinking soda and alcohol poo poo on the sylvee for lack of dietary accommodations that cost less than pennies.

I got to see the Static-X/Sevendust/Dope show, and fortunate to enjoy it from one of the few suites (far from the mosh pit!) that line the perimeter of the viewing area. The location: If you love downtown, this is a great location. If you fear downtown Madison, well, sorry. The good news is you can find decent (or free) parking nearby without getting lost in the mess of one way streets and chaos. The better news is that there's no shortage of places for your "pregame" efforts, whether you are looking for dinner or just a cocktail. The venue: The Sylvee is clean and tidy. You can tell it was built for the best concert-going experience. Plenty of room to move about, good bathroom situation, and numerous places to find a beverage. Up by the suites? Even better, with a special bar and bathroom situation just for them. And the bars have a great selection of craft/local beers. Overall the technology in the venue is great. The sound is excellent, and the lighting is on point. I know a lot has to do with the act that is in town, but Sylvee seems to have what they need to put on a good show. Now, you won't find Aerosmith or KISS coming by to do a show here, but you can find some pretty sizable acts performing here. If you find a show in town that really trips your trigger - and it's at The Sylvee... book it! You won't be sorry.
