What a fantastic time for everyone in the family. Small location is great to allow for all the "loyal fans" to participate.

Golly! This was a fun night out for me and my fiance! I recently moved to Idaho and was looking for…read morefun stuff to do around the holidays. I enjoy plays, musical and murder mystery dinners and found out after doing an online search about Watsons mystery Cafe and i'm glad I was able to get us into this Christmas themed show !! The show was definitely a good time. I enjoyed the comedic acting, set design and costumes as well as the music and a dance number that happened during intermission. Only reason I take a star off is that the food falls a bit flat for the price you pay. The salad and soup were alright but not anything great. The soup was cream based and rich and would have benefitted greatly if they included a roll or garlic bread with it. I purchased the dinner option and put in our request for steaks this evening. I asked for my fiance's to be served medium and mine medium-well but unfortunately his came out rare and mine more of a medium than a medium-well. It was a big letdown to have our steaks undercooked but I was able to salvage them. Rather than complain we asked for a to go box and i took them home to make steak and eggs the next morning. We ate the mashed potatoes there which were good, they just weren't very warm and the corn they served was okay but perhaps a bit too seasoned with paprika. We enjoyed the cocktails we got though and the dessert was good to !! We had a few different holiday specialty cocktails. The garnishes were very festive and cute. They were presented well and tasted great. I ordered the death by chocolate for dessert, which was a chocolate and almond butter tart and we also got a slice of pumpkin pie that came with the meal. Those were both good. I would recommend skipping getting an entree and just come here for drinks and dessert... perhaps an appetizer if something catches your eye. The waitstaff and actors were all very friendly. It was definitely a fun atmosphere and I would love to come back to see more shows ! Towards the end of the night I even won a prize for being dressed festive as I wore an edgy/sexy Mrs. Clause outfit to the show - I got a couple tickets for a comedy show at their venue ! So I highly recommend dressing up for the show you go to if you're not opposed to that sort of thing !! I'll definitely be back!

Local performers are the cast. If you are anything but a senior citizen, you might be the only one under 55. Seats are a little weary. Stages tend to be simple. This theatre is very cute and has a nice layout that's easy to navigate where you're going.. I also appreciate the bar with a fair selection of canned drinks and they do a couple themed drinks for the shows. One is typically an Italian soda that can be be made with a shot of vodka or nonalcoholic. I think it would serve them well to add a 3rd option for themed cocktails but I can see why they want to keep it simple for the bar employees who get quite busy on show nights. One down fall is they have no food concessions whatsoever. They put out a small plate of store bought cookies at the bar for intermission but they go super fast... and they are just the Keebler cookies so really nothing all that special so be sure to eat before you come here. The shows they put on are great quality especially the one my fiancé and I went to most recently.. Santa Clause conquers the martians! It's honestly the BEST stage prodution I've seen thus far and I've seen A LOT of amazing theatre productions!! I got a great deal for this show as I volunteered for a day here recently at the box office. When you volunteer they'll give you a free show ticket. I'm not sure if I'll volunteer as a box office attendant here again... while I overall enjoyed it, things did get overwhelming up front at one point and I needed assistance from my supervisor who was helping out at the bar. She definitely gave me a hard time for that after my volunteer shift was up but I do understand her frustration with me, I can't blame her for wanting everything to run smoothly when i forgot how to do a couple tasks that she showed me during training. I recommend being a volunteer for community theatre but unless you are very tech savvy, I'd suggest volunteering as an usher at Boise Little Theater instead as that's much easier and you can still see a show for free. Overall it's a great playhouse and I look forward to returning in the new year!

What was not awesome this evening was the people that were allowed to enter several minutes late, 6 or 7 of them, Row R or S and sitting pretty much in the middle. The other was people with children not ready for an evening performance, talking through most if the first half, or walking around, very distracting! This IS what the matinee is for, getting them accustomed to being at the ballet. If they can sit quietly for 45 minutes at a time, do nit bring them to an evening performance! Again, to all those who performed, thank you for allowing us to enjoy such beauty!

The event center is beautiful and so big! We sat towards the back half of the event center and it was so nice being able to see the screen and stage. Regardless at how tall the person in front of me was, the staggering of the seats didn't block my view. I'm pretty sure no matter where you are sitting, it's still a great seat. There was a 20 minute intermission for the singer and band members to take a break. Of course we headed to concessions to grab a drink. It was nice how they had it set up. The line went really fast and guests were being helped at a great pace. We were able to get our goodies and head back to our seats pretty quickly. I know there are a lot of events that happen here. I need to be more proactive and see what they are. The venue is so pretty here. The seating is comfortable and nice. It was cool to have my first experience at the Morrison Center tonight. I look forward to coming back again soon for another one.

Attending a play at the Idaho Shakespeare festival was not on my radar previously, but I wish it…read morewas because I had a wonderful time last weekend. From this point forward this will be a yearly activity that I'll look forward to . For my first Shakespeare festival performance , we attended opening night for the play Noises Off. It's essential that you prepare before you go so you are comfortable. You definitely wanna wear comfortable but nice clothing , bring bug repellent , bring your favorite picnic dinner and drinks, and if sitting on the hillside your own low back chairs would be a great idea . If you have never been and you go without preparation, fortunately they do offer food and souvenir items for purchase in their café . Admission Tickets cost from $60-$100 for the good to great seats. I don't know if you can buy them on site. I do know that they sell out quickly and buying them online well in advance is essential. Budget minded folks can choose to sit up on the hillside for a moderate ticket price of about $38 . So we ended up sitting in the preferred section row D, seats 3,5,7,9. We had an unobstructed view and felt like we were as close as we would possibly want to be. The seating was very comfortable mesh patio chairs. These are provided and pre-placed for the majority of the seating. The only area in the amphitheater that does not have actual seats is the hillside . They have limited fold up chairs for the hillside that you can borrow . All hillside seats must be low to the ground. The amphitheater is stone and cement and has a nice gradual incline so it didn't seem to matter how tall the person is in front of you, you should see everything. The play started at 8PM and in Idaho since the sun doesn't set in summer until close to10PM, there was a lot of daylight left when we arrived at 7:30. We had ample time to walk around and take in the area before taking a seat and starting to play. We ate our picnic dinner right at our seats during the performance. It was a lot of fun. By the end of intermission, the sun was set and there are a lot of lights that go on. Right about this time my legs start to itch uncontrollably. I didn't realize it until it was too late, but I was getting bitten by bugs once the sun went down and the lights went on. I didn't use bug repellant!!! Learn from my mistake. If you are the type of person that easily gets bit by bugs, you want to bring your bug repellent. Out of the four of us that attended only I got bit. And these bug bites were crazy. A few days later, I was able to count them after all the swelling went down and I had over 10 bug bites on the back of my legs. Mind you I was wearing pants and they bit me right through the fabric and mesh of the underside of the seat. It doesn't help that this beautiful venue is right on the Boise River so bugs are plentiful. The venue is gorgeous though and I must mention that they have plenty of seating outside of the amphitheater for eating your picnic dinner prior to the show, right on the river. It's stunning and beautiful. If you arrive early on some days, they also have a band playing. Moving on, I just wanted to mention I was really impressed with the quality of the stage and lighting of the venue. The stage is top notch and the lighting is amazing. The Shakespeare festival puts a lot of money into these performances and the stage/set. I'd call this a higher end / casual event. It appeared this night's event demographic was older and wealthier than average. If you're on a budget, buy your tickets preseason, pack your favorite foods for a picnic dinner and enjoy. One last note - parking is plentiful. I suggest parking as close to the entrance as possible and just braving the traffic on the way out. It flows easily and people seem to merge well as they are leaving. Some people will park on the outer edges so they won't have to wait in the long traffic lines to exit the parking lot. So, if you wanna walk through the ginormous parking lot to the outer edges it doesn't seem worth it because it only took us minutes to get from a parking spot at the entrance to the highway immediately after the performance was over.
