This is a surprisingly large venue. It has been operating for three quarters of a century. Congratulations to the actors and the personnel who make this happen. It was an evening of entertainment that you could only get in small theaters Dracula a comedy. Plenty of parking in a large lot. read more

Amazing local community theater with a very long history, a very long list of shows (the website lists them all). I was in town with family and we saw A Christmas Story (musical). It was a big, long show to put on for a cast that was clearly a mix of inexperienced and experienced theater performers, simple dance routines, inconsistent pacing, and cheaper sets, but they really gave it their all and carried it the whole way, along with a pre-recorded soundtrack that everyone timed with very well. The drinks and food are cheap compared to my home town (Chicago), staff very welcoming and nice seats with wide aisles. It's great to see whole families coming to the theater and engaging well, which is critical to any community. read more

Local Treasure Vally talent or outside of state performers are equally talented. Some of my favorites have been musicals--the Sunshine Girls, Annie and the Adam's Family. I have enjoyed the variety of genres offered from comedy to serious drama. read more

Boise Little Theater is one of Boise's best local playhouses. I have been here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. Their productions are always low on spectacle and rich on talent (as it should be). It's a small theater, so there is simply not a bad seat in the house. The lights dim, the curtain is drawn aside, and I am always immediately captivated. A few things to note: Their productions always have an intermission so you'll want to allow for that (I think it's about 15-20 minutes) when considering the length of time you'll be at the theater. During intermission, cookies and beverages (coffee/soda) are served. The beverages are complimentary, but their cookies are $1 (? I think it's $1, maybe a bit more), so you'll want to bring a little cash if you'd like an intermission snack. I always find their seats uncomfortable after sitting for a while--so if I get there early I try not to sit until necessary. I recommend purchasing the tickets ahead of time on their website. The one time I did not do this, I found the line for purchase not only long but painfully slow moving. If you keep those little things in mind, and plan accordingly--a lovely evening will be had by all. Get to it! read more

I might be biased since I performed in a play here before moving, but this is a great theater that attracts talented, passionate performers and artisans, and has great leadership. The venue itself is pretty snazzy, too. A definite jewel in the crown of the treasure valley. I feel remiss for not saying so sooner. read more

We were impressed by the all-child cast of "Annie Jr" and it cost 7 of us (4 adults, 3 kids) less to go to a play than it did for 5 of us to go to a Boise Hawks game. The kids (and adults) loved the show. We had no problem buying tickets on the day of the show by phone, the theater is small enough that there aren't really any bad seats even though we were on the far aisle. The strong community feel of this organization was really evident on the night we attended, as they celebrated the 10th year of their scholarship fund (the organization has been producing community theater much longer than that). We knew Annie Jr would be family friendly for the 3 elementary school aged kids we took, but I think it's great that the website actually gives each production a movie rating to help guide parents. Next time we're in the area we'll certainly be checking the play schedule. The kids were so inspired they put on a 45 minute comedy with all kinds of characters and voices in the back seat all the way home. Tickets were $11 adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Annie Jr. runs for another week. Next up will be "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" in September. read more

Just drove 5 hours yesterday to see their musical called, "Once Upon A Mattress," after watching the Carol Burnett version. It was HILARIOUS. The king, Fred, the queen and the minstrel really made the show. Julie Durrant I believe played Fred, and she was AMAZING. Talented crew, friendly folks, hilarious show -- A+. Bravo! I will be back, and as a theatre person myself, would love to come and audition. (BONUS: It's a non-profit, all volunteer group. Wow! This is a community theater? It is a must see to believe venue. I have seen 5 plays at the Boise Little Theater in the past 3 years. Getting tickets is easy even the day of the performance. You can call or buy on line. We chose to go to the theater earlier in the day on the date we wanted to see the play so we could see the seating chart, since it is not online. We have had seats in the front, back and both sides and there is no bad seating anywhere in this theater. Don't the outside of this theater fool you. The inside is clean, the sound quality is exceptional for the size and age of the theater and the staff is very helpful and professional. The best part is the performances. The actors are very, very good whether performing a musical, comedy or drama. I can easily compare it to the performances I have seen in NY or LA where the cost are anywhere from $75.00 to $350.00 per ticket. Boise Little Theater is less expensive than going to a movie at just $11.00 per adult. I highly recommend you give it a try. I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

I've been to 3 shows at the Boise Little Theater and have been pleasantly surprised each time. The volunteer casts do a great job! Prices are very reasonable ($12.50 for adults, $9.00 for seniors). The theater is not huge so seats are always good. I've never had a problem getting tickets- be sure to buy them directly from the theater box office (by phone) since you get charged a service fee if you buy them online. read more
