This place is a national treasure. You will never see the shame show twice. This show is improv x 100. Loved my experience so much! They play various improv games - red team vs blue team. There is a concession stand full of snacks, water and clean restrooms on site. This is going to become my go to place for a good laugh! Service was 10/10 as well. They love what they do. read more

If you want an entertaining, fun outing this is the place to have your party or event. I had 15 people there, on a Saturday night, for my birthday party. I was admitted free, as the birthday boy AND I was able to get a veteran discount on tickets for my guests. It's BYOB, too, so that was a huge plus. Stephen Bennett was the ref for the Yelp event, we had Mariel this time around. Jordan McMillan was the crowd favorite, for my party group, but the entire cast of this insanely funny show was superb! ComedySportz Houston was a revelation in my life. Not only do I really enjoy their various shows, but I've enrolled in three of their improv classes. They've helped me get out of my shell, gain some much needed confidence, and meet some amazing people. Each class is 8 weeks long, once-a-week, for 2 hours. I have not laughed as hard as I have at ComedySportz. Definitely check out their regular family friendly shows, but look for their special engagements like the Improv Musical, Beer Babies (the drinking improv show), and their yearly Star Wars show! I'm personally eagerly awaiting their upcoming D&D live show which I plan to attend religiously. If you're looking for something amazing to do in Houston, a unique place to take a date, or a place to help you improve your confidence in public speaking, ComedySportz Houston should be your first choice in Houston. Honestly, I never heard of this place until a friend of mine invited me to celebrate her birthday at this place. I thought that this place had just recently opened. Imagine my surprise to know that this place has been around for 20+ years in Houston. I bought my ticket over the phone about 45 minutes prior to the 8 pm show on a Friday. The lady I talked to on the phone told me that there were 15 tickets left for the show and that seating chart had been assigned for the night but she would try to seat me with my friend's group. And she did! Awesome job. I read Paula M's review saying that this place promoted racism. NOT TRUE at all. I'm obviously Asian. My friend and her group (around 15 people in the group) were all Black and we all had a great time at the show. My friend was brought on stage to participate in one of the skits and "The Voice" kept mentioning her throughout the night because it was her birthday. There were some other people in the audience who were also celebrating their birthdays, but my friend received most of the attention in part because we were always the loudest to cheer her on. Another review by Megan C. stated that the show is catered more toward children. Well, as far as I know, they had different shows. Some are all age appropriate and some are recommended for 17 and up audience due to crude language. If you go to the website and look at the different shows they offer, it will state whether or not the show is appropriate for all ages, or if it's recommended for kids 10 and under, or adults only. If you don't do your homework prior to going, then don't blame the performers. The cast were awesome. I was laughing the entire time. The show that I attended was called "ComedySportz Matches" and it was set more like "Whose Line Is It Anyway." There were two competing teams of three and a referee. The referee will take suggestions from the audience and use those suggestions for the teams to perform and compete. All in all, it was hilarious. The show took about one hour and 45 minutes long including a 10 - 15 minutes break. During the break, you can fill out some yellow card to sign up for newsletter and put it into a jar. After the break, they will let an audience member to pick one card from the jar for your opportunity to win a pair of tickets. Pretty awesome. They also gave my friend a print out photo of her on the stage with the cast memer and asked her during break if she wanted to take a picture with the cast of the shows after the show was done. After the show was done, The cast of the show stood outside the exit and thanked everybody that had come to the show. Pretty cool! Oh yeah, they also have a little concession bar where they sell soda, beer, etc. I highly recommend this place. I'm definitely going back. If you're thinking about getting a few good laughs, try this place out. But remember, do your homework and check out the different shows they have. read more

Oh Comedy Sportz... Though I love ya and still think you're cool, I have to say that I like the old location better than the new one. I've gone to a few of your shows in the past and really enjoyed them in the other theater prior to the new Queensberry Theatre location "upgrade." Is the new theater bigger? Yes. Is it nicer with more bells and whistles? Duh. The new location is beautiful; however, the intimacy is gone, and that feel is something that is needed when it comes to improv. The stage is too high and too far away from the audience to truly focus on the performance and appreciate the talented thespians. The theater is lovely, but it's distracting. It has watered down the fun, interactive, in your face, intimate connection that the actors once had with their audience. The referee used to be able to walk among the audience and engage closely, now the ref and the players stay glued to the stage and at a noticeable distance away from the audience. I wonder if this new change is also impacting the players? The last time I visited (my first time in the new theater), was by far the least entertaining and most scattered performance I have ever seen from CSz; I was shocked and disappointed... Maybe it was just an off night for them... Anyhow, my rating is solely based on the last time I visited, and the new theater. read more

ComedySportz Houston is a ton of fun and I'm sad I didn't discover them sooner. Their main show is an improv comedy "competition" between two teams (I put competition in quotes because while they keep score, the focus is clearly on entertaining the audience and the score keeping is another way to have fun with the show, but they don't take winning seriously to the detriment of the performances). The teams play a series of "games" that are kind of like Whose Like is it Anyway where there is a basic premise but the audience suggests the subject matter. Sometimes the performances are super inspired, and other times the fun comes in seeing them mess up. The main show is also family-friendly, which is appreciated, though those who want rowdier comedy have a late night drinking game option that's for a 21+ crowd. I haven't attended those, but I have seen other shows that CSZ puts on in a less regular manner like their improv musical (absolutely amazing, some of the musicals were better than actual Broadway shows I've seen!) or their Star Wars special. Overall the performances are great, the cast is friendly, and the crowd is fun, and there's enough diversity in the shows that you never quite know what to expect. read more

I get bombarded with deals from groupon, living social, and likes daily. Well I got one recently for ComedySportz. I had driven it past many times and never bothered to check it out, but when you get it on the cheap, it was worth a try. First off, it's a small arena/room, maybe holds 50 people? The whole set up is similar to a wild n out/who's line is it anyways improv. There are 2 teams of 3 and a referee. They keep score, but really who wins? It's a load of fun with lots of audience participation. I was yelling out all kinds of stuff, especially once you start drinking. I had a blast and will be back. read more

A different show each night, literally. It's improv, clean, fun, creative, fast paced, and the more the audience participates-- the more fun you'll have. A fun place for a group of friends and they have group discounts when tix purchased together in advance. It's a "sportz" theme--they pair two teams of actors against each other, complete with a referree, audibles and rules (yeah, keep it clean folks). We wanted to go to a comedy club, but the headliner for the Improv that evening we were not a fan of. Looked up ComedySportz, and decided to give it a roll. Were very pleasantly surprised. The improv games and the cast were great. Their sense of timing and comic impromptu's were hilarious. We were laughing the whole way through. Also liked the fact that they kept it clean. There were several teenagers in the audience- and the cast let us know to have discretion when it came to calling out ideas. There is also a 10pm show if you want to add the raunch in- for adult fun. Great fun! Took my wife out to ComedySportz for our ate night. He tickets are reasonable ($18), and I bought mine online beforehand. What I didn't realize was that by doing that, I got reserved seats (bonus!!) - we got there 15 min before showtime and I was worried we would miss out. Now, they do the show in one of the meeting spaces at the Holiday Inn. I was skeptical at first, but it doesn't really matter. These guys OWN the stage. Plenty of seating, a small audience (maybe 100) and it works great. I loved the format: two teams of three players with a referee (for our show, it was the "Heat" vs the "Humidity"). They play different games for points, taking input from the audience for each one and even bringing a couple of people on stage (and each victim was rewarded with a little bit of swag). The show lasted for about 2 hours with a 15 min halftime. There were also some snacks and drinks to purchase from their cash bar Great night out and can't wait to come back with some more friends!! read more

Why haven't I stopped into this place sooner? It is right by our house & right in my face every time I go to the City Center. Well....I finally did! Been reading up on it, and decided to do something different after dinner for my fiance's bday. So I had the surprise party waiting for us at ComedySportz, and it was uhhh AWESOMENESS. I am extremely surprised this place is not packed every day of the weekend. Very talented and hilarious comedians. They feed off each other and the audience's suggestions and improvised. Genius! One girl said she was at the library earlier in the day, and how can you make that funny? Really. But they did. We were dying with laughter. And the cherry on top? Cheap tickets. $8/person for a group with more than 10 people (On Friday). Regular price per ticket ranges from $11-$16 depends on which day of the week. Thank you for such a great time ComedySportz. We checked this place out on a Saturday night recently. The show got off to a slow start - but then it picked up and we had a great time! The group involves the audience, and they all seem to enjoy what they are doing. The don't cuss or use any vulgar humor, so you can go without worrying about anyone in your party getting offended. I found tickets to the Comedy Sportz show on Goldstar and thought it sounded like fun so we went for it! The place was easy to find and we were able to find a spot in the lot right outside. When I bought tickets, Goldstar said it was general admission open seating, so we arrived early thinking we would need to claim seats. It turns out you don't get to pick your seats, they make a seating plan. So we ended up in the first row all the way off to the right. It was fun to see things close up, it was less fun to see the spit and sweat that close up. Next time I'd put in a request to sit a few rows back. The comedy itself was hilarious. We were definitely laughing throughout the whole show. Although they do ask for audience participation, it's on a volunteer basis so don't worry about being called on or made fun of. Also, as promised, they did keep it totally clean and appropriate for all ages. They have beer and mini bottles of sutter home wine (classy) as well as some sodas and other snacks. If I had one negative it would be that they kept pushing their other services: more shows, summer camp, corporate team building, office parties, birthday parties, etc.. The first few times I didn't mind. By the 10th I thought it was a little overkill. I would absolutely return and highly recommend this place as a fun and inexpensive weekend activity! read more

Hubby and I went tonight on a living social voucher I'd picked up a while ago. I was a bit nervous before going, I've only ever been to one comedy show, it was stand up and little-no audience participation required. However, I came out of it, LOVING it and complete with a set of fly swatters, a T-shirt, a loyalty card and a business card for the lady who deals with larger groups! We can't WAIT to go back. Been to comedy sports back in 2013 in celebration of Star Wars, and it was pretty awesome. Decided to bring some friends this past month, and we were able to get the tickets 'tax free', $10 each! Bought the tickets over the phone, the lady was pretty helpful and it was a quick transaction. She recommended to buy the tickets prior Saturday afternoon if I was going that night, and boy was she right -the place was packed ! Glad she told me about the discount since the normal price of $20, is kind of steep. They moved their location to the Holiday Inn off of north Eldridge in the energy corridor, pretty easy to find. When you enter the room there's a gentleman with a seating chart - who makes sure you and or your party are seated properly. It's a quick paced improv, so you may find yourself a step behind sometimes .Family friendly, a lot of audience interaction. The players are extremely quick witted and good comedians. Almost on the quirky nerdy side of humor. Come here for a good laugh with friends, family or a date night. It's a good change of pace from a movie night!! Would recommend. read more

I love improv, so I was excited to find this place. A group of us went to the 8:00 show on a Friday night and place was about 90% full. Although its a smallish space, it was still a good number. We arrived exactly at 8:00 (dinner ran a tad late), but they were nice about it and seated us quickly in an area reserved for us. Also, we were given wristbands upon entry, which we could use for the 10:30 show the same night to get ten dollars off. This particular show was tournament style (hence the "sportz" I suppose) where the coach directs the two teams and takes suggestions from the audience. The teams consisted of improv students who would try to win the approval and votes of audience members through the challenges they performed. The winning team was declared at the end based on which team entertained the audience more by tally of points. I liked how the coach would move through the audience asking for suggestions from each section in turn, therefore involving the entire room, but he didn't single out any one individual. The performers were hilarious, but it was obvious one or two of them carried the show. Parking is pretty tight, so that was the only negative I can think of. We had to park next door at a dental office, I think it was. Even though it was closed, we were a little worried since we were the only ones parked there. It was an evening of good, clean fun (a few kids were there, one for his birthday celebration), and we have already gotten tickets to another show coming up, Star Wars Unscripted. Amazing place. I bought the Groupon for a date night with the husband. I was REALLY upset when we went and was absolutely not in the mood to watch a play. We went to watch the "Great Game Show Mash-Up", and after maybe 2 minutes in I was already giggling. By the end, I had really wished I had submitted to participate! I've been to the ComedySportz arena several times! If I could, I would go every weekend, but unfortunately I can't. I am what they would call a "loyal fan". I have introduced numerous people to ComedySportz and everyone of them has gained the title "loyal fan" as well. What's not to like? A good, clean, laugh out loud experience. If you don't laugh at least once during a match you should see a therapist! I love their sports event approach. I've been here with my bf twice in the last 2 months, once to watch the EaDo comedy show, and the next time to watch Aladdin Unscripted, and we both split our stomachs laughing so hard, both times! The performers are extremely talented and entertaining, making sure there's never a dull moment in the show. The EaDo comedy show is more like a stand-up performed by small group of people based on the input they receive from the audience. First comedy club we've been to in Houston. Love the fact that it is family friendly and accommodating. The location has a small parking lot for ease and convenience. The performances were hit or miss-some were good enough to make you tear up and others were head scratchers. They're very organized in that they reserve your chairs and walk you to your chairs. Went to this place on a date and was a bit unsure about the place as it was rather small. But, to my suprise, this improv show had me busting my gut. They have this improv where it is like a "who done it" where the actors act out the location, profession, and murder wepon without words and then kill the person giving the clues with the murder wepon (acting). Watching them act out the words is so funny. Then they have to guess the three things (location, occupation, murder wepon) A must see!! read more
