The only reason I gave Comenity Bank one star was because I couldn't give them zero stars. The take over from Bank of America AAA Visa has been horrible. Today is 10/16 and I have talked to numerous staff at Comenity including two supervisors. I still do not have a credit card or the ability to establish an online account. I was told they would expedite new cards on two different occasions and did not receive them. Their definition of expediting is using USPS mail (snail mail). They are unable to provide tracking numbers and are unable to take electronic payments. They do not have anyone in the credit card division working on the weekend. As soon as I am able to see my account and make payment I am closing this account. I had been with Bank Of America for over 20 years. This is not progress! read more

If it was possible to leave zero stars I would. I currently have about 6 or so accounts with them, which is fine. I used to use the cards very religiously. However, they have been having "website issues" non stop for the last 6 months making it IMPOSSIBLE to pay your bill yourself. I do not carry my cards with me daily so having to use the card number to "log in" every time is ridiculous. I have already paid off and will be cancelling the majority of them. Their telephone customer service reps are of ZERO assistance, and the fact they are charging late fees to customers who CANNOT pay their bill without waiting 25 minutes to call PER CARD because their website is constantly being "updated" is absurd. My suggestion is FIRE your IT guys and hire people who can make your website work. I shouldn't have to call every time I want to pay a card that you make TONS of money off of. Offered to pay but they would not accept a credit card; only a debt card or bank account number would be processed for payment. They have lost their minds!! This is the absolute worst bank I have ever come across on. I use them with B&HPhoto and they will harass the hell out of you with phone calls each month until you make a payment. They call you every half an hour of the day up until 10 pm. Wanna know something funny? I have been trying to get a hold of them when I call them but cant even get a person to talk to. They never sent me my account information after a year. I cant make online payments as advertised. I asked on the phone once if they could give me my account information, and they said they would send me off to another team that handles accounts, and they dumped me! They just hung up the phone. I got an interest free loan for Dental work, several actually. I went to pay one in full so as to not trigger interest payment. I could not find a way online. I paid it in full along with my regular auto payment. I called the next day and man said no problem, I will take care of it. Never did . I wrote, it got ignored. Fast forward to next payment due date, I wrote check to pay off in full, I wrote the account # on check. It was ignored, interest is now being added to that account. I will pursue this one. I had a Wayfair card...never had a problem and had good customer service. I got a letter stating Comenity took over their accounts and it's been hell ever since. I have called them several times about them correcting my bill. I even sent them the letter from them saying they would credit my account but they have not! I asked multiple times to please speak with someone else but they won't transfer you to a supervisor or to a client dispute dept. I told her ten times you issued the credit because you guys screwed up and you admitted it but won't fix it??? What the hell?? I had a Hot Topic card through Comenity Bank. I used it a couple times throughout the year and normally paid it off in a few months just to keep the account open. I had used it, then went through a divorce, and because of that I was out of work and not able to make a payment, thats fine I'll take the late fee for that. I got a job, but my card was due on the 4th and I don't get paid till after the 9th. I called them and waited on the phone for what felt like forever, then spent even more time with THREE different people who all said we can't do anything until you make a payment. I'm sorry - I have $10 in my account and I don't get paid until the 9th. Long story short - They didn't even try to help. I am dissatisfied with their "changes" and will be canceling any and all cards I have through them. I just want to say how WILLING and ABLE PAYPAL was to help me just move my payment date to prevent further late fee occurrences. It's not like I was asking a lot from Comenity Bank - I just cant afford $54 in late fees because 'there is nothing they can do to help people facing financial difficulties', like they say on their website. The worst! this is just stupid. I have a Comenity card (two, actually- one with Forever 21 and the other with Overstock.com) and during Covid and out of the blue they close my Forever 21 card because I am "not using it". Forget the fact that the Forever 21 store at my local mall is closed. So, it actually negatively affects my credit report. I purchased the piece on PROMOTION on a 6mo rule for the PROMOTION. Comenity Bank works for Zales. I brought the item, Nov 2021,I paid off the promotion in Jan 2022 , 4 MONTHS EARLY THAN THE 6 MONTH EXPIRATION DATE. HOWEVER, I found out that it's not against the law for them to bundle this with my REGULAR Zales acct. So even though I PAID OFF THE PROMOTION INJAN 2022, they continue to charge me INTEREST on something I paid A YEAR AGO and LEGALLY THEY CAN DO IT. I made 3 complaints to the BBB, complaints to all 3 CRDEIT BUREAUS, and finally THE CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY. Please listen.....company's can do this LEGALLY and then charge you outrageous finance fees. This is a bank that basically makes its money gouging customers when they make mistakes. Just paid $660 in interest on an 18 month purchase of around $3k. Do not be tempted by the promotional 0% offers in stores they partner with. You will pay dearly if you don't pay off every last cent, with accrued interest. Of course you don't get an email or text to warn you of the impending interest because it is a deliberate trap. One misstep and you will get no sympathy from their customer service. Would have been better off with a payday lender. Closing my account and never going back to Floor & Decor for their partnership with this unscrupulous bank. My daughter and I purchased some jewelry at Little Switzerland in St. Thomas back in May with the six month interest free offer. I religiously paid the amount due each month to avoid the interest charge and always paid by the due date on my statement. Now that I have made the last payment, based on the due date that was on my statement, they are saying that I didn't pay the promotional balance off by 11/21 so they charged me the entire interest of $152.96 for the purchase because my payment didn't reach them until 11/25. The due date on my statement was 11/28 which is very confusing...the promotional due date should be the due date on your statement. I feel this is a very deceptive and unfair practice on the party of Little Switzerland and Comenity Bank. I called and asked them to refund me the $152.96 and they refuse to do so. I am very disappointed with Little Switzerland and Comenity Bank and will never buy another thing from you and I will be sure to tell all my friends who take cruises to St. Thomas to never buy anything at your store based on this practice. I made the mistake of opening two accounts with this bank not knowing who they are. They are the absolute worst! All of their "offers" are a lie. For example, I was supposed to get 20% off my first purchase for opening a card with them. They got around this by saying they couldn't approve me on the spot because of a fraud alert on my credit profile. I had to wait for a letter just to find out I was approved after all and I just had to call in to verify my identity. The B.S. question to verify my identity was to verify my zodiac sign!! Then I opened a different account for Ikea. They did the same thing! Even though I already had an account with them! I called the credit bureaus to find out what this alert was and they couldn't find one. So total BS. As for card use, I would have my transactions randomly declined at both Ikea and WS. After wasting my time talking to them all they could say was they couldn't figure out why the transactions were declined and that there was nothing wrong with my card! Yet the cards wouldn't work. This bank issues the credit cards for J. Jill and many other retail stores. The parent company of Comenity is Bread Financia. It is the biggest HOAX company. I tried intermittently for three months to get a customer service representative on the phone..... to inquire why they were charging interest when I paid my bill in full. After several more attempts, called Comenity and was told there was a hold on the card. Wait 5-10 minutes and I should be able to place the order. I waited 20 minutes but got the same error message. Avoid this institution. You will get charged for 26.49% interest from day one even though the store tells the offer is 12 months interest free. I called the customer service several times since Nov. 2022 they said we see you file the dispute but there is no way for us to contact the dispute department and you have to send an email, I sent an email but again it was a rep who replied back so I never got a chance to talk to anyone in dispute department. This is an example of a bank that should have their banking license revoked! I made a purchase for $45 with my Victoria Secrets credit card and then I paid it off that following month. I have my bank statement showing this payment!! However the person who "took" my payment over the phone did not process it right resulting in the present phone call I am on, three months later and now my account is delinquent and instead of a $45 purchase I now owe "$89.00" I got a call this am at 6:30am from someone at Comenity Bank regarding my "delinquent account". The person i spoke with this morning at 6:24am Geraldine confirmed after a 10 minute conversation that I did in fact speak with someone in customer service on May 1,2018 and that there were Notes entered which included a Customer confirmed payment information. Geraldine also confirmed that at that time a late fee was credited to my account, But payment was never applied to the account and that iI would need to call Victoria Secret call center at Victoria secret customer service (844)271-2552 which brings me to my present phone conversation with a woman named "Essence" in the Westerville Ohio call center. Essence was rude from the start of this conversation. Horrible customer service ability. I explained to Essence the conversation I had previously with Geraldine and she told me that "she saw no activity on my account" I again explained I had just spoken with Geraldine earlier this morning who confirmed that there was in fact "activity" on my account! I asked Essence if she would bear with me while I pulled up my payment confirmation to Comenity Bank and she got frustrated with me and said "ma'am I am trying to tell You that there has not been any activity on your account since January of 2018." I again explained to Essence that I had a confirmation # from my bank and Essence told me that I must have paid a Spammer because there was nothing on their end. I explained that i could pay off the balance in full but i was concerned that my original payment had not been marked on my account. Essence still did not understand or even try to help me and It was at this point that I asked to speak with Essences manager. I have now been on hold for almost 50 minutes. I will never do business with Victoria Secret again and Essence should be relived of her duties as she is clearly under qualified and straight rude. There is absolutely no contact information for their corporate offices I had to request a new number due to a data breach. At the same time I requested new plates and new numbers for my authorized users. It took 2 weeks, three calls and an email to find out no one ever issued the cards. And now they refuse to expedite the process. I have never found a visa issuer to be so backward and lacking customer service. They allowed fraudulent charges on a credit card account under my name that I am only a co-signer of that hadn't been touched in 7 years, and allowed the charges ABOVE the set credit limit at that. What is the point of a credit limit if you are not going to limit the damage? They conducted an "investigation" and determined that since the items were delivered they must be valid. I signed up for a card a few weeks ago. I never got the card. When I got my first bill, I couldn't pay it because I didn't have the card number (I thought). I called and wrestled with the automated system. I have a paralyzed vocal cord so can't use the voice commands reliably. When I finally got a person, he told me the number was at the bottom of the page. What kind of stupid sense does it make to "secure" the card number in the account number box but then print it out in full at the bottom of the same page?? So I go online to pay my bill. It won't save my bank info. I call back and am told I need to use the Chrome browser. We don't use Chrome; we use a secure browser that works fine with all our other accounts, and we are not going back to Chrome now for ANYbody. So I decide to go back to the phone automated assistant. I can't type the cc number in fast enough and it sends me again to a representative. And again, she refuses to help me unless I pay a $9.00 fee and sends me back to the phone system. It took me a solid half hour to pay my bill and close my account. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. No matter my problem, they still refused to do any work on it themselves without an exhorbitant fee. Never again Comenity. I will remember you, and Bread Financial, forever. read more

Dec 2022 no rebates--called and was told "this was a known issue and would be fixed by Jan 2023". Rec'd letter from Bruce Bowman, President, Comenity Capital Bank, apologizing for "intermittent issues" during the transition and promising 2% cash back instead of 1% for Dec 1-31, 2022 "as a token of our appreciation for your patience". Never received ANY cash backs, still. Have tried calling again in April and Mar 2023. The phone system is filled with glitches and does not work properly and prevents you from ever speaking to a person at all. Now end of March 2023 and they have not fixed this yet. Low tech, inflexible, and archaic operation. I tried to apply for a Total Rewards Visa for some casino comps. But then I discovered Comenity Bank cannot utilize a one-time use pin access code to retrieve my stellar credit score for this purpose. They want me to lift the freeze I placed on my credit history for as long as they (or anyone else during this open period) need to process the application, and then to freeze it afterward at my cost again. And Comenity Bank doesn't have the manpower to call into Experian for exceptions. People freeze their credit history after the Equifax data fiasco for a good reason. And for Comenity Bank not being able to utilize a pin access code is inferior and incompatiable with the same credit bureau that they do business with. I will be concerned if this were my bank. I messaged them in the app and got a response that didn't answer my question, I messaged them on Twitter and they were more helpful but my problem was more serious than they could handle so they referred me to a number to call I call the number and can hear my account info and balances, but when I try to speak to a representative the call disconnects. There are so many ethical banks you can choose from, these guys are crooks and their customer reps sound like bullies. When I ordered some kids clothes online I accidentally ended up using this card which was offered during my $39 purchase. Their website is down most of the time and couldn't get hold of them on the phone easily. $39 ended up with a $340 bill and ended up paying a negotiated amount of $174 to close the account. First off I have been fighting with them for over 6 months to have the address for the card changed as it is still going to my old address in a DIFFERENT STATE.
