We bought my engagement ring a year ago through Kay jewelers whom Comenity is used for finance. We did the 1 year same as cash finance option and after making our 11th payment bringing our balance from $7k to $190 we looked at our balance only to see they had charged us $828 in interest! Call this fantastic institution only to be told you have to make a payment before your payment is due the very first month for that plan to work as they only give you 11 months in the 12 month plan before they slam u with interest in the middle of a PANDEMIC! In July 2017, I opened a Comenity - Cost Plus World Market MasterCard, also doing business as Comenity Capital Bank at PO BOX 182620, Columbus, Ohio 43218-2620. This account was opened with the intention of purchasing furniture at World Market and utilizing their 12-months same as cash advertised promotion. In August 2017, I received my first statement from Comenity. No where on this statement was a problem indicated. In that same month, I set up the online account management tool on the Comenity website, and set up paperless statements, electronic delivery and automatic monthly payments. Over the course of the next six months, Comenity continued to draft automatic payments from my checking account. Unbeknownst to me, Comenity also closed the account and removed the promotion during this time frame. After checking my February statement, I realized the 12 months same as cash offer was gone. A call to Comenity bank led to the disclosure by them that not only had the promotion been removed, but the account had been closed in September as well. The explanation offered to me for the account closure was that it was due to "fraud". However, I was never contacted at the time about this alleged "fraud", and no one over the phone was able to explain to me why exactly the decision was made. Comenity stated they sent a letter, but no such letter was ever delivered, either electronically or through the postal service. As a result, my credit now shows that an account was closed by the lender. Comenity refused to reinstate the 12-months same as cash offer, saying that too much time had elapsed. Again, no one attempted to contact me by phone in September and I received no letter stating that the promotion was terminated and account subsequently closed. I am very disappointed in the level of service provided by Comenity Capital Bank, and frankly am disappointed with Cost Plus/World Market as well. The decision to partner with Comenity, who clearly employs suspect and potentially illegal credit practices, demonstrates that neither company has the best interest of their customers at heart. I would strongly recommend against any credit program administered by Comenity Bank and Comenity Capital Bank, as their customer experience skills are lacking and their internal procedures are poorly managed, at best. To rectify this, Comenity Bank can re-open my account and replace the 12 months same as cash offer. I opened a credit card with Sephora, sent a check 1 week early for the whole amount $503.96. 10 days later I received a letter from Comenity that the check was no good, so immediately I called Sephora and they told me they sent the check back to Chase, and had to pay on the phone which I did. A week later Comenity bank cashed the check so now when I called and they said that I would get a refund for the full amount, which they credited my account for $473.96. They took out a late fee even when it was their fault. i tried calling but cannot get anyone to help me. Community Bank is the worse. Website down, phones down, customer service down. This is a one time thing. They're always impossible to contact. I can't even activate a new card on line or by phone. The website was down for weeks while doing an "upgrade". I couldn't see my transaction or balance. I referred them to my State Attorney General and they did follow up. I made a purchase that "went thru" 1 day after the billing cycle closed. When I received my statement I paid it all off but the next month I got another bill with a late fee. When I called I was told that when I paid off the card it did not include 1 purchase that was part of the "next" billing cycle. They hide "accrued interest" clauses in their credit card contracts and if you do not pay off your card within the promotion period then they tack on these finance charges that have been accruing since card inception. Even if you have $50 left on your balance, If you had an initial balance of $4000 then that means over $1000 in finance charges will be added to your account. Absolutely abhorrent company. We got a good sam card at camping world... we used it once and It was approximately $150... I got the bill late because my husband and I separated. That is absolutely my responsibility and I accept it repeatedly. I paid it in full in July of last year, and started getting calls again. Their stance is that even though I paid off the balance, there were finance charges attached to it and accrued penalties and interest. It affected my credit drastically; the balance they said I owe is $106.67. After much discussion with their customer service representatives, I was told that I am responsible for the finance charges and there was nothing they could do. I spoke with Sebastian and Jarek, neither of which was helpful. I asked Sebastian several times for a supervisor, and he refused to transfer me. Further, Sebastian became frustrated with me and talked over me several times. Such craziness should not be tolerated. We have enough to worry about without fraudulent charges. read more

I have had a Comenity Land's End Visa card for a few months. I have never been able to log in online. I am able to get my balance on the phone but when I ask for a representative they don't answer. A few days ago I held for 30 minutes listening to their obnoxious recording, then gave up. This morning I held for 26 minutes and finally a woman answered. I could not understand her because of her heavy accent and terrible static on the line. When I asked her to speak more slowly she hung up on me. I have not received new credit cards that are necessary to sign in and pay my account and when I try to call "customer service" the automated system hangs up saying that you have to try again another time. DON'T USE THESE CREDIT CARDS!!!! I am being charged late fees and I can't get access to the company or to my account. I have tried through Comenity/Bread and end up with the same automated hang up. I have 3 store cards using this bank. I like using the cards to get the store discount and paid the card off a few days later. On to of the card there was a $2 fee. I didn't receive the bill or email of this balance on the card. I only found out when I was trying to the card. The charge now was $22. On 1 of the cards it was 2 days late and was charged additional $24 for fees. For the pass 3 days my payment has been in processing. I keeping checking back even though the site are slow and consistently closes. So if you have a card though this bank, check your account monthly even if you know you have a zero balance. On November 17, 2022 I paid off my full balance of $55.28 electronically through People First Federal Credit Union. The payment was not due until November 21. On November 26. I got a phone call from a representative at comenity bank advising me that I did not make a payment. I was charged a fee of $29 along with a two dollar service fee/interest. The representative advised me that if I make a full payment over the phone immediately that the fees would be dropped. several days later, I did check my account online and noticed that the fees were not dropped. I had to call the bank again to address the fees. I was advised that the fees would be dropped. In the meantime, I did make some other transactions. with purchases I made at Burlington in the store. I also returned an item to Burlington for $9.99. I then had a refund balance of $10.53. I then called Comenity to send me a refund check. Which I did receive in the mail several weeks later. last week I went online to check my account again and noticed that I had a two dollar balance.. I then called the company again, and advised a gentleman to remove that two dollar fee and close my account which he agreed to. Several days ago I received a letter from Comenity Advising me that my account was closed, but I was still responsible for the two dollar fee. today I called and spoke to Marta, who advised me she would get rid of the two dollar fee with a lot of pushback. I advised her that I plan on contacting the Better Business Bureau. Here when I went online and finished my review with the Better Business Bureau. it allowed me to pull up other complaints With this company. It appears that other customers are having the same issues, especially over the last several months. I contacted the attorney generals office regarding my concerns and was advised by Bryan that only my complaint can be addressed by filing a formal complaint online which I did. today I called Comenity regarding my boscov's credit card rewards and a 15 % discount I should have gotten. They told me I needed to call boscovs cs Dept directly and have them email them about the discount. I spoke to Mandy and she said I should have gotten the discount. Mandy made a three-way call to Comenity. After I waiting on hold for approximately 15 minutes. A supervisor finally came to the phone. And we got disconnected as soon as she answered. My issues were never resolved. The supervisor never called me back. I am really concerned about the way that this company is handling things. My current FICO score is 814. Commenity Bank is the WORST!!!! I have a Victorias Secret CC and they are the bank they use. First off, let me explain to you that I make my payments EVERY month and I pay FORWARD EVERY month!!! ABSOLUTELY NEVER USE THIS CREDIT LINE COMPANY EVER. After buying some flooring and signing up for their credit line, I had always planned on paying off the flooring in one go. I asked the flooring teller multiple times if I could just pay off the credit line in store and they told me no, you have to wait for your credit card. So I waited, and having moved into a new house of course it dropped from my brain. Fast forward a month, I still have not received a credit card, I received one email statement but when I go to login online I need an account number, or my credit card number (which of course I still do not have). I call in to request another card, and even ask the lady if there is anyway to pay off the card and she says no, just wait for your card. I finally receive it, pay off the entire credit line, and move on with my life. Fast forward a couple of days and I get a credit report notification that my credit score went down EIGHTY-THREE POINTS. Are you serious? I have worked for YEARS paying off all my credit cards on time to have a credit score over 750 and now in seconds they DESTROYED IT. After talking with many family members who also used commenity, I hear that cards are often lost, mail is not ever received, interest rates keep going up, and people are only contacted once it is too late. I even have a deferred interest promotional plan, so I had until November 2022 to pay off without interest which obviously was another LIE! What a bunch of SCAMMERS! I will be screaming from the rooftops and going anywhere, everything I can to leave an honest review of this company! Like many of us today we are running into hardships due to COVID, increase in prices EVERYWHERE, High Medical Insurance premiums, Deductibles and Out of Pocket expenses, Health expenses, and divorce. For me personally, it is High Medical Insurance Deductibles and Out of Pocket expenses, Health expenses, and divorce. With divorce comes the loss of a second income and a lifestyle you became accustomed to. With age comes new health issues, which come with high deductibles and OOP expenses. I had to decide whether to pay for a doctor or make a Credit card payment. I have several with Comenity and Synchrony. I decided to stop paying on 4 cards to meet my deductible and other medical expenses to avoid losing my job. Never realizing when I made that decision all 4 cards were with Synchrony. As per my Comentiy accounts, I kept on making my monthly installments. So, my Credit score would not suffer all negative reports and have some good ones come in as well. I miss payments for 3 months and now that I am feeling better, seeing the doctor les,s and starting a new year, I took it upon myself to reach out to Synchrony to make arrangements to get back on track. Never had I been treated with such compassion. The good thing was I dealt with one Representative MACK, who was so understanding. He had all late fees removed from my account and reimbursed. He proceeded to work with me to come up with a fixed payment amount I could afford. They were awesome. Now about Comenity Bank!!!! As I worked on my budget and goals for the new year, I contacted Comenity to get exact account balances. To find out that while I was making timely payments to them, they lowered my credit limit on several cards because they saw my credit score drop due to the late payments to Synchrony. As anyone who cares about their credit knows it is highly recommended to use one-third of your credit limit, so your Credit Score won't suffer negatively. In lowering my credit limit to the existing balance on the accounts. My credit score suffered a huge impact as it now records, I am utilizing over ninety percent of my limit. When I complained they said they also have Customer Service Assistance for hardships. I asked, "what good is that to me if I have zero late payment history" He did not know what to say but they were unaware of my hardship. Why would I have to report to them if I am making timely payments? It makes me wonder if they would have treated me with the same compassion, respect, understanding, and patience as Synchrony did. I DOUBT IT! Synchrony honored my hardship and did not lower any credit limits aside from the fact that I was delinquent for 3 months on four accounts. I will pay off those accounts however I will not use them again. They can linger in my credit report as accounts paid with a low credit limit and a zero balance for the rest of my days or until they choose to close, their accounts. Comenity is about themselves while Synchrony understood that hardship happens to the best of us in hard times like we're experiencing right now, and they are willing to help. I received a 0% balance transfer offer for my Total Rewards Comenity credit card. The flyer stated that it expired April 15, 2017 so I called late on April 14, 2017 asking if I could do it on the 15th since I was exhausted from a very long day. The rep said that I could do it on the 15th so I went to bed. The next morning I tried to do my balance transfer and guess what?! It didn't work. Then I called to inquire again and they told me that they would honor the 0% transfer since the previous rep gave me misinformation. Six days letter I received a letter stating that they couldn't do the balance transfer because it was no longer available. BOTTOM LINE: If you are unclear what "Use it by APRIL 15, 2017" means... then let me explain it to you. It means by midnight April 15th.
