Worst card ever! We had a dispute about a charge thru Eddie Bauer. We were told that no interest would accrue on the balance during the dispute by 2 separate individuals on 2 separate occasions. When the dispute was finally settled, they charged us full interest plus extra fees for the entire time of the dispute and threatened to send our account to a collection agency one week after we received notice that the dispute had been resolved. We were told that different departments within Comenity could say anything, but that didn't mean it was accurate...in other words, they have no idea what each department is even doing within their own company. Awful experience. I will never sign up for a card through this bank again. read more
2/25/18. Finally reached someone from Pottery Barn Kids who addresses the issue after several frustrating phone calls to Comenity. It should also be mentioned that my wife started getting a bunch of telemarketer calls the day after I put out these negative reviews. My wife's phone number is on the account so I'm sure there's enough detail in my review for someone to figure out who we are. When I asked the telemarketer how they got our number they explained that it was entered into a database which I was able to trace. When I get the final proof that this was maliciously done, there will be a formal complaint read more

In a phone call totaling over a half hour, Credit Card Service & Customer Representative Veronica (Agent # 1291) was not helpful whatsoever. I called around Noon MT to dispute ANOTHER charge on my account (I was incorrectly and inconveniently charged twice for the same purchase several weeks prior and already went through that nightmare once). Veronica was abhorrently rude, and inconsistent with her response and direction in an attempt to assist me online with correctly navigating the website so I could see where to enter account information regarding payments. After over 20 minutes of arguing with me that there are red letters discerning where to enter checking account information (no such red letters appear anywhere on my screen when logging in via Safari), I concluded that our screens must show different things and Veronica explicitly told ME that I must be the reason the website is not user friendly because she could see it on her end. I have screenshots of my page to show what the website looks like with an updated Safari browser and that there must be discrepancies because I was not able to find any red letters on my end. Aside from being rude, sarcastic, and completely unprofessional in tone and timbre, Veronica also talked over me more than several times and cut me off EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I. TRIED. TO. TALK. When asking to speak to her supervisor or a tech assistant regarding the website, Veronica continued expressing her annoyance in her tone and bluntly told me "they do not do that." She then said "MAIL your complaint to the following address: Comenity bank, PO box 183003, Columbus, Ohio 43218 along with your account number, name, and a brief description." WHAT CENTURY ARE WE IN?! I am in disbelief and absolutely disgusted with the way she treated me. I would NEVER recommend having any type of account or relationship with Comenity Bank, unless you're wanting to feel degraded and discriminated against after seeking help regarding a dispute. read more

Unethical business practices - try to add late fees to your account, even when you pay all of your bills on time. In addition, they make it so your payments can't be automatic like every other credit company in hopes that you will forget and they can hit you with a late fee. I have not missed one payment for the year I've done business with them, yet when I downloaded and looked at the statement I saw a $40 late fee. Again, by not showing you the breakdown of your statement online (you have to open the statement in PDF), I believe they are hoping people don't take the effort. Scammers in my opinion. read more

Customer service sucks. You would think that they would give you a pass for missing the due date by the freaking time zone difference...

they will add interest on purchases you never made. $30 late fees even when you have automatic payments scheduled, super hard to get ahold of a csr because they will just hang up on you, please don't open a card with these people. read more

My name is Lora Merriss. I was preapproved online on 9/16/21 for an IKEA Projekt Card for a complete kitchen remodel. Unfortunately, the door style we chose has a finite date for availability due to being discontinued on 10/1/21, so I called Comenity Capital Bank the next day to see if there was anything that I could find out on how long the final approval would take but was told that it could take 3-4 weeks from application date. I asked if they needed anything else but was told that they had everything they needed. After 10 days, I received a letter in the mail that they could not continue to process my application until I spoke with someone. On 9/25/21 I called and was told by another employee that they had 3 questions to ask me, that I could not confer with anyone else, look anything up or put them on hold. The very first question was regarding which year I had leased a vehicle, with 5 possible answers. I do nothing but lease vehicles, and there were 2 correct answers in the possible ones, so I picked one. The third question was in regards to my mortgage payment. I asked a clarifying question to see if they were looking for principle and interest only or the total of all with escrow. I was told that they could not clarify so I picked the answer range of the principle and interest only. I was told that one or more of the answers was not correct and this would have to go to the "Back Office" for processing. I asked how long that would take and why, with the preapproval, the credit check they had already ran and the income verification that had been done, this was taking so long and was told that if I had been paying attention and knew what was on my credit report, I would have been able to answer the questions correctly, which made me angry. After 12 days and 5 different employees with 5 different stories, I was finally able to find out they denied me due to an answer I gave them on one of the three questions and for other things seen on my credit report. I have a credit score in the 800's, have a house loan and two car loans as my only debt, and more than enough income to cover everything and then some. You don't get a credit score in the 800's with dinks on your credit history. I have never been treated so badly, disrespected by so many different bank employees and been given so much conflicting information by an organization in my life. I will be asked to fill out a survey by IKEA when I am done with this project, and the review that I give your bank will be the worst review you have ever had. You lost out on a $20,000 credit purchase, and in this day and age, even small purchases really count towards your bottom line. You should be appalled at the disservice you did to me, the business that you just lost and the damage that you just did to your company reputation. If I could give you "0" stars I would. read more

Heartless Bastards! In case you were in a coma for the last 12 days, a little something called Hurricane Florence came to visit North and South Carolina. While huddled in the darkness, without electricity and hearing the wind whipping my townhouse, my phone was screaming with Weather Alerts, and Tornado Warnings and non-stop phone calls from Comenity Bank wanting to know when my payment would be made!!!! I answered the first call and was met by the most uncaring human (?) being EVER! Speaking to a woman in Colorado who had no clue what I was going through just wanted me to make the payment now over the phone!!! After that I let the non-stop phone calls go unanswered because I could not waste the charge on my cell phone talking to a brick wall. I contacted HSN and told them about Comenity and their heartless treatment and said I would pay the account off and never shop with them again. I was told that Comenity was going to remove all late charges for the people in the Hurricane's path. LIES! I paid the late fee and have not heard one thing back from the Hounds from Hell! read more

Terrible bank! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM OR YOU WILL REGRET IT! They are more of scam artist than a bank! They do every trick in the book to make it hard to pay the loan and they abuse all the fine-prints in an agreement to rip you off. I bought a Motorola phone with 18 months interest free. First, they do not allow auto payments so you have to log in every month and pay the bill. They prey for you and eventually you get busy one month and forget. Bang goes a $40 charge! Then they prey on you forgetting the exact day of your 18 months interest free payment. They play every trick to ensure you won't know the end of the period and bang goes a $160 charge. read more

Can I just say how much I hate this "thing?" I first encountered it at Talbots and I despised it. Then I encountered it again at JJill and hated it there. Why? I returned an item I'd charged at JJill. The balance was zero when I checked to make sure it had gone through. (I wanted to use that credit to purchase another item.) OOPS. The credit was in Comenity Bank, and I had to go looking for it. There are all sorts of ways this thing is dorked up. read more

I would give 0 star if allowed, these guys are complete morons that have not commitment to the customer in the least. Made a payment by phone and asked for an email confirmation, he would not accept or provide a record of the transaction and stated that my own bank would provide the transaction confirmation. Asked to escalate to a supervisor, he placed me on hold, checked a couple times to see if I would wait it out and then disconnected me. Avoid this place like the plague! read more

I have been with Comenity Bank for three years and have three cards with them. I have a Meijers Card, Victoria Secret and The Buckle card. Over the three years, I have had my credit limit raised on each account and have a high credit limit. I have always been on time with my payments. Recently, Comenity Bank LOWERED my credit limit from $1500.00 to $300.00 after a payment of $1400.00 was made on my account. My Meijer and Buckle credit limits remain at $1450 and $1300. This is completely unfair as I feel they just took my money and I do not get any of that as my available credit. Instead they lower me down to a limit a brand new customer would receive upon opening an account. I am starting a class action complaint as well because I know there are others who had the same problem! read more

This company owns Tuition Solutions. They take no accountability for what their service reps advise you to do. I was told that since I made a large lump sum to my load that I could call every month and have the balance adjusted. When calling today I was told this could not be done and that the information that was told to me by a previous supervisor could not be done. They do not document their conversations in their system and they do not hold themselves accountable for their statements. I would not recommend using them. read more

Worst experience with a credit card ever. Paid it off in full before two weeks were up because of the excessive interest-rate and late charges. They billed $28 in interest which I paid. They claimed it was lateCharged a late fee and interest on the late fee so no matter how much you send they claim it's late and I add more charges. Sent me a $.99 balance claim that was late added an interest and a late charge ended up owing six dollars which I just finally gave up and sent in. You might as well go to a loanshark. Do not use this card! I believe Dentist offices that push this company must benefit somehow. read more

These guys will close your account with no reason, whatsoever . I have over an 800 credit score and used both of my cards within the past few months (we're dealing with a pandemic right now and people aren't really shopping) and Comenity Bank closed ALL of my accounts (Pier 1 and Victoria's Secret) for 'inactivity'. What a joke of a card. Must use VERY frequently to keep this open, regardless of credit scores, pandemics; etc. read more

Got a credit card through them when we signed up for membership at my local BJ's -- and they've been fine for that. But AAA just switched their Visa card from Bank of America to Comenity and it's been a complete NIGHTMARE. Sent only ONE card (to my husband). He called them and they sent ANOTHER card in HIS name -- NOT mine. I fought my way through their voicemail hell SEVERAL times (first person didn't like that I was shouting (boohoo) and there was ALSO a bad connection, where I could what I said as a background echo); second person was clearly in some 3rd world call center and didn't speak English well; she eventually got me a supervisor, and HE said that it would be a 48 hour turnaround like for the second card (and didn't know why they had screwed up so badly). My husband called them back at the end of the week and a DIFFERENT supervisor said "A week or two...." Then he got TWO apology letters in the mail a couple of days ago. Oh, and we're apparently overdue for the bill they NEVER sent us (unless it's the bill I wrote in OCTOBER to Bank of America, which still hasn't cleared...). Now he's gotten something in the mail today which MIGHT be the statement/bill but I won't know until he gets home and looks at it. He's ready to cancel the card ENTIRELY -- ON THE SPOT at this point. Me? I wonder what the credit rating of the supervisor I talked to last week is (betting MINE is HIGHER!). Oh, and the real irony? The AAA membership is in MY name, and has been since before we got married. In 1987.... The only thing that saves Comenity from getting ZERO stars is that Synchrony Bank is WORSE (yeah, who'd have thought that any card issuer could be worse. Oh, and today (Saturday) got a call on the house line from a NON toll free # which came up as "Comenity Bank", so I picked up the phone -- only to just get a dial tone.... I had already filed a complaint with my local AAA office, telling them that I hope they DIDN'T sign a long term contract with Comenity... read more

If I could give this company a -0, I would. Horrible business practices making it difficult to set up automatic payments. I have paid off this account and closed it three times and still get bills saying there are issues with the billing cycle and the fees generate additional charges. This is a complete nightmare. I work really hard to maintain a good credit rating, and this company is unscrupulous. They take advantage of consumers. Run away and don't get a credit card from this company. They think they are the best bank possible but they have very strict rules that do not allow good customers to work with them. This bank I would not use at all for anything. If you hear of a company that uses Comenity; i.e., Sony, etc., do not sign up. If you can, pay it with other funds. They do not work with their customers. They only want the profits that benefit them. Customers do not matter here! This bank is the true form of crooks. They lock your card account, so you are not allowed to make a payment through the website and force you to call the customer service line, then force you to pay a $9 charge to make a payment over the phone. Nothing continuing screwing over your customers. I opened a clothing store credit card, because it's the only way to get coupons or deals. I bought a $40 bra... that has now cost me over a 150.00. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I did not receive a statement for a single charge which was initiated when I opened a Comenity Good Sam account with a participating vendor. My first mistake! Subsequently, I went into delinquent status for 2 months until they called to advise that I was late with my payment. No email or calls until 2 months late. After explaining that I had not received a statement and was unaware that a charge was made, they credited one of the late charges and I paid the 19.99 balance and one 20.00 late fee immediately with my bank debit card. Here's where it goes bad. After watching my credit score lose almost 100 points, I contacted Comenity to explain again what happened and asked if they could remove the late status to their credit reporting agency? I am 67 years old and have no less than 8 active accounts all in Excellent Status with on-time auto pay. Their response - They could, but they wont! I have it in writing! The credit agents clearly took pleasure in exercising their authority and have no interest in retaining my business which must be their business plan, sign em up, get a few late fees and move on to the next sucker..... Worst Customer Service Experience ever! read more

I have had an account with Kay jewelers for a few years now. Never had a problem. I randomly check my credit one day and was surprised to see that my credit score had dropped almost 50 points. It was a 740 before. So I do some investigating to figure out why this has happened. All my accounts are paid on time. Long story short, my credit report showed that my Kay Jewelers account had been closed. This made my credit utilization shoot up, causing my score to drop. At that point I was wondering why? My account had always been in good standing, always paid on time, and had a zero balance. Recently paid off a ring purchase. So why would they just go and close my account for no reason? I called Kay, and the person I talked to was very nice and assured me that my account was not closed. She said that they have transferred all accounts to Comenity bank and they are now handling them. So I said let me get this straight... even though my account appears as closed on my credit report, it is not actually closed but is in good standing? She said yes that is correct. I said when will it appear as open again on my credit report? She said that they gave her a date of mid December saying that it would be fixed. Well its now January 8th 2018 and it still says closed. The lady I spoke to even said herself that they are not handling this situation right at all. Lots of angry customers. I was in the process of applying for a loan and this just ruined it. The stupid part about this whole thing is that it looks as if the account is closed but they sent me a new card and everything! Even got a credit line increase. But every time I check on credit karma it says the account is closed. Makes no sense. They don't even care to communicate with their customers and at least send out a letter with an update of what's going on. I would have never even known what was happening if I didn't call and ask. So pretty much anyone with a Kay account is in the same situation as myself. I just wish they would communicate at least. Just doesn't seem fair. I think I will just close my account with them for real. I don't think I want to do business with a bank like this! read more

THE WORST. Doesn't deserve a star. This is a fraudulent bank that one of my credit cards is associated with. Their system is always malfunctioning so monthly statements do not reflect payments already made. Then they start to illegally charge me late fees even though the balance is already paid in full. Customer service agents cannot speak English, cannot do simple arithmetic and cannot understand a simple request from the customer. I said that I had paid and gave them all the information of my payment. They were supposed to trace it, but instead, they returned my payment! You don't want my money? Complete morons and incompetant. Every month there is a bogus interest charge and valuable time of at least 1 hour is wasted each time trying to phone in to clarify what these bogus charges are. Then more time is wasted trying to explain to the monkeys what the issue is. Supervisors are unhelpful and cannot explain why there are fake add-on interest charges. They blamed me for having the wrong payment info with the bank that I pay from. WTF?? I've had the card for 5 years and never had a problem. Therefore, one can only conculde that all the employees are all in on the scam. When my account says "Past due amount: 0" then there should not be any extra charges. Total scam. Everyone should close their accounts with this bank and file a complaint to the Ohio State Attorney. read more

I closed my account in November 2021 with a zero balance. I had a return processed in June 2022 on a Closed Account, the company that gave me the credit should of never refunded to a closed account but that's another story. It has been five weeks of trying to get a check made out to me since there's a credit on a closed account. First off customer service is in another country which you have to wait at least 30 minutes to talk with a person then you have to ask to speak with someone in USA another 20- 30 minute. I was told back on 7/12/22 that check was processed, well fast forward to 7/28/22 nope still waiting for check to be processed because they upgraded their system in 6/22 and they're still behind on processing. So I was told by a manager that was absolutely no help whatsoever, Customer Service has NO IDEA when my check will be processed. Good luck to anyone who has an opened account with them. Shame on all these companies as in BJ'S Wholesale Club or Ulta Beauty Supply who use them. read more

RUN!!! They are not BBB accredited and they have over 90% negative feedback rating! They are notorious of harassment, unethical business practices, and one of the major contributors of lowering your credit score within months! Don't ever bank with them! I fell into a trap by getting a Victoria Secret credit card which uses them. They will harass you and will not work with you to solve any issues because everything is your fault. They sent out my card weeks after my first statement and charged me late fees afterwards. Even if you are one hour or pay forward on the day its due they will lower your account by 100 points. Also, even if you don't use the card they will charge you and give you a late fee anyway, which lowers your score!!!! THEY MAKE PROFIT BY PURPOSEFULLY AND INTENTIONALLY SETTING UP CUSTOMERS FOR FAILURE. Even if you pay it full forward or not use the card at all, Crappy Bank will find a way to charge you and lower your credit score because that's the business they are in. Don't make the same mistake I did. In the end, make a choice if you accidentally fall victim to them. Close your account prematurely and rebuild your score from the ground up or try to survive with them harassing you until your card expires. read more

Worse Credit card in my 60 years of life! They sent me a MC to replace my Christopher Banks card. Offer states that $100 cash back if you spend $500 within 90 days of activation. I had this card for awhile and had never activated it. I had a large purchase coming up on my home and called Comenity Bank I explained I had this card for awhile but never activated does this offer still apply! They said yes. The next month I call again and confirmed again what I was told and she confirmed too I had that offer. So I told her to activate the card that I will be doing a large charge. I also asked will you take this off my statement balance she said yes. 2 weeks ago I got my new statement. I called and asked when I get my $100 off she said the next statement. Which doesn't help me on this charge. Every time I call it's a different story now I am told they never had that offer. I have spent hours on the phone the last 2 weeks trying to get what I was promised. Now today I was told that offer expired last year. If this does not get resolved by today I will be opening a complaint with the BBB and filing a consumer complaint with consumer finance.gov read more

The worst bank with the most unprofessional banking practices ever imagined. It's impossible to get through to customer service in less than an hour and then the most incompetent of customer service agents are completely unable to assist. Then after a request to speak to a manager you are turned over to an incompetent "supervisor", not a manager. Your insistence to speak to a manager leads you to a "supervising manager", also incompetent. With yet another request to speak to an actual manager you may get lucky. The hold time between each request is between five to ten minutes. A request to get a call back from a manager, rather than going through a chain of incompetent employees with long wait times in-between, is met with "oh, we don't call customers". All this, by the way, is to resolve their having issued a current statement that includes the amount of a previously confirmed payment made for the past month's statement, which according to the incompetent customer service agents must be resolved by you, the customer. read more

Bank of America went over to Comenity Bank. I was never notified. I tried to make a payment on my Bank of America website. It was closed. I called Customer service. They gave me a number to call Comenity. I called Comenity. They told me I had no account. I got an e-mail for an account number ending in 4 digits and told me that I received my new credit card. Never received card, credit card statement, or anything else. I can't even make an on-line payment. I called Comenity on October 31, 2022 and was disconnected 3 times, transferred 3 times, transferred to collections who told me I was in arrears. I told them I never got a new credit card, any account statement, or even a new account number. Yet, they wanted me to make a payment over the phone. This is obviously a major SCAM going on. Worst Ever! I have had a Lexus VISA Signature credit card with payments made to "Comenity Bank" for several years of paying the entire balance every month. Ironically, the basic amount due every month on this card is for a credit-monitoring service for a stated monthly fee. I have also noticed that they have a sneaky way of sending paper bills with a significantly shorter turnaround time for payment, cruising for late fees so I make a point of sending payment upon receipt of a bill. Today I received my credit card bill from them with a purported "late fee" of $29. I was amazed because I always pay off this credit card in full every month and the statement itself acknowledged that they received payment on 11/8/18 for a payment due by 11/19/18. When I phoned to point out that I paid timely on 11/8/18 for a bill due 11/19/18, they stated that I only paid $29.95 for the monthly charge of $29.99 (4 cents off!)(for the Lifelock credit-monitoring service) which apparently my 66-year-old eyes mis-read when I made out my check! Only when I demanded that they remove the "late fee" was it done after they lectured me that since $29.95 was both the total due and the "minimum payment" due that being 4 cents off meant that the payment was technically "late" and it was like they were doing me a favor to remove it! This card goes into my sock drawer never to be used for anything more again! read more

I am very upset because Old Pueblo and Blair starting using them and doing so without even checking with their customers to see if they would agree to t his. This is why I stopped using Blair because you no longer deal with Blair but forwarded to this company. Now Big Lots are doing it. I keep these cards pretty well paid off and when the statement comes to your bank it does not say what company you paid that amount of money to, so you have to figure it out yourself to file it. I am going to write to them a special letter of complaint it seems to me their duty to show you on paper which account they received a payment on . So I will start with them first and if they don't respond and correct this mistake, I am going to go to the Credit Bureau. read more

I had the misfortune of having my credit card account acquired by Comenity. Certainly, nobody in their right mind should never voluntarily open an account with them. Problems with them range from the irritating to what I would consider fraudulent business practices on their part. One only need look at other reviews to see the host of complaints. On the irritating side, they don't even have an app, so you have to log on to a webpage every time you want to do anything. What a waste of time and inconvenience! On the more serious side, I just spent nearly half a year fighting with them over a charge that I disputed back in May (2020). I made a purchase, had the merchant cancel, but then refuse to issue anything other than a credit. I disputed to the highest level with the merchant to no avail and, to my dismay, found the bank uninterested in pursuing this at all or taking my dispute seriously. So much for the online purchase protection that we supposedly have when making purchases with a credit card. All of my appeals to Comenity and the documentation I provided appear to have gone into the circular file. Their only response was to repeatedly tell me to contact the merchant. I tried to convince them that we should be on the same side, and should both be fighting the unethical business practices of the merchant, but it's clear that they have no interest in protecting the interests of their clients or their own business reputation. read more

I recently faced a challenging situation with Comenity Bank that has left me in a dire position, and I feel compelled to share my experience. I have been a customer of Comenity Bank, holding a DELL PAY credit card that unfortunately switched to Comenity Bank from Dell Financial Services. Unfortunately, after a dispute with their customer care representatives, my account was flagged for fraud when I was trying to request a letter from them that my mortgage company was requesting. Despite providing them with my driver's license, social security card, and W2, all with my current address, Comenity Bank permanently closed my account, citing an inability to validate my identity. The timing of this closure couldn't be worse, as it jeopardizes the closing of my mortgage, putting my home purchase at risk. I have invested significant time and financial resources into the closing process, and the consequences of this account closure are severe. What adds to the frustration is the lack of responsiveness and assistance from Comenity Bank during this critical period. The urgency of my situation is not being adequately acknowledged, and I am left in a state of distress. I sincerely hope that others can learn from my experience. If you're considering Comenity Bank for your financial needs, I would caution you to be aware of the potential challenges you may face, particularly in times of dispute or urgency. read more

Please be advised that these reviews are accurate. I have had my Victoria Secret card through Comenity Bank for several years. My card remained active when my credit score was at it's lowest and my credit card debt, with other creditors, was at it's highest. However, I remained in good standing with my Victoria Secret card. Now that my overall credit card debt has decreased drastically and my score has increased drastically I was notified, through CreditKarma, that my account with Comenity Bank was closed. I initially contacted Victoria Secret and was told that my account was closed due to findings with my credit report. Please keep in mind that in return this made my credit score drop 33 points! I contacted the credit bureau, with whom they reported me to, and was told that there was no findings on their end as to why Comenity Bank should have closed my account so I was asked if I wanted to file a dispute. In which I did so. I contacted Comenity Bank who only stated that they did so due to what was reported to them by the bureau. Huh?? I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and for anyone else who has suffered at their hands lease do so as well. You do so online and it is an easy and quick process. I will be taking further action if this is not resolved. read more

I applied for this credit card on the Wayfair website. Made payments on time, each month. Then in September they announced that they closed my account, because Wayfair doesn't work with them anymore. Good for Wayfair! Then in September I had financial difficulties because of this stupid pandemic time, and instead of making payment on 10th and made payment on 15th but I paid off my balance completely, it was $ 0. When they sent me a bill for $33 late fee, I called them I asked to remove that fee, because I made my previous payments on time, and I paid off my balance. I asked them why you charge fees on the account that currently has 0 and it's closed??! And I simply wasn't able to pay it on time I had financial difficulties. They didn't agree with that, I was super angry because in any other bank they would agree that it's the case there to remove late fee is appropriate but they didn't. I wasn't able to made that payment unfortunately. In December they sent me $68, so they added one more late fee. But thanks God I was table to pay it in December! I hope they will choke with these money. It's an evil company. And btw their automatic payment systems needs many improvements. Long waiting time on hold is another problem. read more

My response to their computer generated (no response) email. I am not satisfied at all!! I called Customer Service because I was trying to make a payment on my account on the day it was due and because it was 8:15 p.m. I was advised by your very rude overseas call center that I would be charged a $25.00 late fee. I then spoke to someone in the United States who again would not budge regarding this issue. This is highly offensive and perhaps a violation of the Fair Credit Act (I will investigate further). I find it distressing that although I paid well over the amount due on the due date (by a customer who has consistently paid well over the minimum due on my account each month) that Comenity would be so rigid and anti-customer service that they would insist on this policy, again from a customer who has always kept their account in good standing. I will pay the remaining balance due minus the $25.00 dollar fee you insist on charging and again will investigate this issue regarding the Fair Credit Act and will note a review on the major websites regarding your lack of customer service. read more

I have a few store cards that I have had for years, Jared, Talbots, and Coldwater Creek are the ones that Comenity has taken over from other banks. I got caught like many when this pandemic hit. I was waiting for a check to arrive from March 11 and couldn't get a hold of the company that it was due from as they were in CA and I am in FL. Come to find out they had been closed due to the Coronavirus. I explained this to Comenity and was told not to worry about it and they would give me a 2 month extension to pay. I finally got my check in July, I paid all of their accounts up to date and now I am being told that my Talbots card is being closed due to a low credit score!!! They knew what the issue was and still closed my account that didn't even have a balance on it as I haven't used the card since back in Dec. This is stupid and can't wait to pay off my others with this bank to never use them again. The kicker is I had others with them but the companies have gone out of business! If this is how they treat their business' as well I can see why they are no longer in business. read more

This company is in violation of the TCPA. They need to STOP CALLING. Comenity Bank has faced several allegations of violating TCPA. Here are some examples of TCPA violations: Calling at odd hours and contacting consumers late at night and early in the morning. Calling the consumer at their workplace and leaving a message about the debt with the person who answers the call. Calling and not identifying themselves or their purpose. Not identifying the entity to whom debt is owed. Calling and talking about the debt without first verifying if the consumer owes it or not. Not honoring a consumer's wishes to not call them; not honoring the Do-Not-Call-Registry. Threatening consumers with lawsuits that are not applicable to their case. Threatening and intimidating consumers with legal action where none is intended. Leaving messages containing details of the debt with people other than the consumer. This could include their relatives, co-workers, friends, and/or neighbors. Making details of the debt public and causing undue embarrassment to the consumer who owes the debt read more

BEWARE if you are thinking about using Comenity! DON"T DO IT! I pay my bills ahead of schedule every month. Yesterday, I received several calls saying my payment was late. I went on line to check out was going on and it clearly showed on my payment schedule that my next payment was due on April 4. Today is March 21! On top of that, they had charged me $90 in late fees!!! They have charged me these late fees for the past several months! No one ever answers the phone at customer service and they just recently allowed you to use a debit or credit card to pay your bill! If you need help and want to speak with an actual person, plan on taking the day off and committing to just trying to speak with someone. When I finally reached a person today, she said that the reason I was charged a late fee was because I paid ahead of my due date and they don't apply it! WHAT??? They will not refund the late fees! I am contacting the Attorney General and have filed a complaint with the BBB. read more

This institution,(very mental, unstable company!!!!) Literally insane! Doing the same thing over & over expecting different results in finance! Really disscuting that on average call about 7 times a day, starting at am and continuing all day long. on your day off every 2 hrs. Then they try scam calls. Using different numbers saying there someone else? And I can see it's the same number. Trying to check out our intelligence? All in reality, I'm all about helping others out that need a better life. They DO NOT about nothing about customer service in my! Experience. In our broken world today, we don't need this petty nonsense especially if your bill isn't due for another month! So I made a decision and will go to the store and pay my own bill and continue to block all there numbers from around the . And Report spam and harassment. No offense but the illegals are being Illegal. Have a positive day. read more

I had a terrible experience with Comenity Bank, and I would not recommend them to anyone. Their practices feel completely misleading and borderline fraudulent. I noticed unauthorized charges on my account, and when I contacted customer service, they were unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of resolving the issue, they kept transferring me between departments with no clear answers. It felt like they were intentionally avoiding taking responsibility. Their billing system is confusing, and fees seem to appear out of nowhere. Even after making payments on time, I was hit with unexpected charges that were never properly explained. What's most frustrating is the lack of transparency and accountability. A bank should provide security and trust, but my experience with Comenity has been the opposite. I strongly advise others to think twice before opening an account with them. read more

This bank appears to be unfairly charging customers. My wife opened a credit card through Sephora and made a purchase of about $65. We never received any billing statement. Later, the bank added a $40 late fee. I contacted customer service, and they agreed to waive $25 of the fee. I then paid the original balance plus the remaining $25 late fee. This issue occurred in November, and we believed it was resolved. However, in March, we received another call from customer service demanding around $200. They claimed that the original payment was one day late and continued adding additional late fees. Now, the customer service representatives are threatening legal action, which feels unreasonable given the situation. We made a good-faith effort to resolve the issue and paid what we were told was owed. This situation feels unfair and needs to be reviewed. read more

If I could give this company a negative amount of stars -0, I would. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I submitted a payment to them on the 12th of the month. They did not try to process the payment until approximately the 26th of the month and by that time, I thought they had already taken their money and have been paid. By the time I found out that they didn't receive the funds, I was marked late on my credit report and so I made another payment that they also didn't process in a timely manner and this time my credit report reflected that I was 60 days late ruining my credit report and my credit score. This has happened so many times that I am paying this account off next week and I will NEVER do business with Comenity Bank ever again!! read more

I got a lane Bryant credit card for my girlfriend. She bought bras from there all the time so I thought it was a good idea to save some money, boy was I wrong! I paid off my balance in December, then I was charged a $2 "finance charge" after paying off the card. Think my balance was 0, I didn't bother looking at statements until May. In May the balance was over $200 from late fees on the $2 finance charge. I paid all but one late fee and closed my account then ANOTHER $2 finance charge showed up a week after I paid off the account THE SECOND TIME. I called customer service and was transferred to the wrong people then transferred to a "manager" who didn't answer my questions and hung up on me. This company is the absolute worst! 100% a scam! read more

I am writing to express significant concern regarding recent charges applied to my account with Kay Jewelers and Comenity Bank. Specifically, I was recently subjected to unexpected interest charges. Upon switching to paperless billing, I was not notified that interest would subsequently be applied to the balance throughout the year. As a result, a full year's worth of interest was added to my statement. I am very dissatisfied with this process and the lack of clear communication regarding the financial implications of opting for paperless billing. I request an immediate review of these charges and clarification on how this interest was calculated and applied without prior notification. read more

They are scam!!! Do not trust these people. They reallyyy be on some Bullshit. Oh btw they have a 100% interest rate. If you have perfect payment history they will drag you through it! Be careful the experience I've had is non other. I've asked to speak with supervisor . No help from customer service or support. I just keep getting told there's nothing they can do. It is what it is. No documentation that this would be 100% interest no thing no communication I don't mind paying off the rest of my loan. Ammount. But do not tax me where it's impossible to get out of! They have terrible policy and live to drown people. Even those trying to do the right things read more

What a terrible credit card company! This place and GE Money Bank are the worst loan sharking credit card issuers out there. DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD FROM THEM. They issue mostly store credit cards for places like Victoria's Secret, and issue a handful of co branded cards that are impossible to obtain unless you have a 750+ credit score. They will nickel and dime you in fees, move around your billing cycles, and do whatever it takes to show you that you are nothing but a number to them. I called to close my account and they said why? I said they are the worst credit card I have, they said fine its closed. Not even a thank you for your business. Ack! read more

Comenity Bank/Wayfair is the worst credit card servicer on this planet. They regularly take over an hour to answer the phone and their website regularly requires a password change, that once completed, is not recognized. TWO attempts locks you out, and then you have to call a number nobody answers. Due to these issues and their sporadic reporting to the Credit reporting agencies, we needed an update to complete a disabled Veteran's refinance. It took 5 calls over 3 days to finally request a "Balance Letter" that is required to update their credit report. A day later the fax arrived showing the balance on the card as $XX.XX. WTF! read more

Do not trust this bank. Their products are designed in misleading ways -- burying important terms in fine print and creating blind spots through a lack of communication. Search them in consumer venues like CFPB or BBB and you'll see the same pattern of complaints. Customers are hit with thousands in surprise charges that are technically 'legal' only because they hide behind the fine print -- a classic trap. They operate under different names, such as Alphaeon Credit for medical expenses. If the product you're considering is linked to them, avoid it at all costs. read more
