Too bad that I can't give this Bank 0 Stars! After dealing with the Pottery Barn card representative and getting no satisfaction I called the bank directly and was rather rudely handled. They don't take questions or criticism very well. Many stores and other card companies can open a credit card instantaneously. We do have excellent credit and because of the lack of information that they request to get a card started, they expect us to wait up to 2 weeks for an answer. My suggestion is to forget this bank and any store cards associated with it. Just go ahead and use another credit card! Not worth the hassle!! read more

Worst customer service very rude. WORST experience I have had with a bank. They are not understanding what so ever specially during a pandemic they also do not change there policy to help there customers during this time. Honestly do not recommend anyone to use this bank EVER. It is rare for me to leave a review like this due to the fact every other bank has been helpful and there excuse is "we are not every other bank" so they really do not care about their customers or anyone for that matter they do not have there customers best interest at heart because if they did they would realize we are in the middle of a pandemic and just like every other bank would work with you during this time. read more

I would give it less than one star if I could. Just fore warning Cartes/Oshcosh is a Comenity Bank Card so don't do it to save a few dollars. The card was "lost in the mail" to start with and I never received it. They did promptly send a replacement because I was trying to pay the card balance and needed a card with a number on it. I couldn't even pay it at the store! Finally I found a way to make a payment (of the balance) but for some reason it didn't go through, no they didn't call, apparently customer service told me that my bank would have notified me - but if they had the wrong numbers then how would that happen?! She didn't know what she was talking about clearly. They should have contacted me - I pay bills online and then I couldn't get online with them but was directed to a customer service number - I called this 5 times! It kept hanging up on me after I listened to their spiel - finally I get someone who has a very heavy accent - not bashing non-USA citizens but please don't give me someone who can't speak the language - most things I understood but some things I just let slide, she was unintelligible. She was mildly rude, but really ANY rudeness from ANY business is unacceptable! I did get the late fee taken off, made my first AND last payment - paid it off. After receiving a confirmation number I canceled the account - no confirmation number here though, I am supposed to get a letter in the mail in 7-10 business days. From reading the other reviews I am now praying that the card is indeed canceled and I won't have to deal with them again. Don't be tempted folks, your credit is too valuable to let a bad bank ruin it for a few bucks! Beware! read more

They put a temporary hold on your account for no reason after making a large payment. Small payments are good. I guess they want to add the interest whenever possible. My accounts been on hold for 20 days even though I've been a long time customer with perfect payment history. It's a hassle but I like getting Sony points to redeem for gift cards. I don't recommend a Sony visa card unless you like calling them all the time to reset your account. read more

This company is a total scam. I had 3 cards with them, Sephora, Ulta, and Victorias Secret. I had the accounts for 6 months and they increased my credit limit on 2 out of 3 of the cards because I made all my payments on time and paid more than the minimum due. Then out of nowhere they send me a letter in the mail claiming there was fraud on my accounts but gave no specifications of what the fraud was. They said due to this imaginary fraud they needed a copy of my social security card, bank statements, utility bill. But when I called they could not explain to me that the supposed fraud was, so why would I send them all these private documents. Then they closed all 3 of my accounts which had never had 1 late payment without even telling me. I never would have even known they closed all my accounts if I had not saw all the accounts were removed from my credit report. I was upset and called the company and asked them to explain why my accounts were closed down without my consent with no one notifying me, when there was never any fraud on my accounts and all my payments were on time. They told me that they dont have to give me a reason why. Totally unprofessional company. read more

Hello Everyone, My name is Michael Rowe and I have a terrible matter at hand am dealing with towards my credit card banking company called comenity bank. It started off when I went to a Toyota dealership (Cavender Toyota) to look for a Vehicle as my bank capital one approved me for a 50 thousand dollar loan. After everything was said and done I finished signing all the paperwork then they gave me the keys. I drove away with my Toyota highlander limited happy as can be, or at least thought so. About a month or Two later in I get a call saying we are looking for our money you owe us but I thought it was some kind of scam (like the car insurance calls you get after you buy a car) but the next week I started getting calls all day long. I Called the Toyota dealership to verify if this comenity bank was real and was told by my dealer to ignore them its a scam. Well they called even more as if they wanted to scare and bully me around so I called an attorney. He said they might not be scammers to give them a call to find out more. Turns out I owed them because the dealership had taken out a credit card for 2k as the down payment which I did not realize that and didn't receive a bill as they were mailing them to the wrong address. After a handful of trying they finally got the address correct but refused to send the credit card till pay off current balance which of course I always pay off all bills that owe. I followed through and started making my monthly payments with them demanding that the paymentis are set to automatically draft from my account when they feel like it. While they still kept slamming hard on hitting my credit score bringing it down as well adding negative comments to my credit accouts, months later due to current circumstances and the stop of job due to coronavirus I called and asked what they could due to help and they confirmed could skip payments. Yet still force pulling money from my empty bank account and adding multiple invalid late payments to my account. Next they lowered my total credit card limit down 500 dollars impacting my credit even harder. During the next 3 months I finally get a job at the hospital and continue to faithfully make payments bringing my balance (as I called to confirm) to around 1,400.00 which shows on the statements received in my po box. I called to make a payment about 105 and noticed the bill was not matching the correct payment amount and was told would need to pay about 20 or so more and when said ok I can do that to not occur anymore interest charges but the lady already ran my card and said would need to transfer me to collections. When I spoke to collections the guy spoke to seemed really shady and was acting completely strange as if he hardly new anything about my account and did not want to take my payment until I requested a manager. After telling him I got a job now and would like to pay this off by next 2 weeks he said "o really " in a suspicious manner kind of comment. I Then waited a week to find out the next bill statement suddenly went up to over 400 dollars with the new balance showing almost 1,800 dollars. When I called and asked for manager they put on the phone Christopher C. Because refused to give his last name. When I explained the whole situation to him was told that would submit the complaint and oh it looks like there were some interest charges and a promo that ended which says on the bill (Note: bill does not list any of the dates or months to show what any of the charges are for, only a lump sum) and he said oh it looks like there were two charge I can take off that were mistakes. I will send you the update just call us back next week by Wednesday should be enough time to update this. Then he said would let another person know about this but you will still have to pay all these charges. but will send this up to see what can do. I checked back a few days after was told here let me give you a few credits for your trouble and we will put this under the coronavirus case and the lady (supervisor) said to check back and your new balance should go down to 1600 (which still does not resolve the issue even so called to check balance like told two days later nothing been changed nor credited even was told it went to fees on the account). The Next days I tried calling Christopher's direct extension given to me. I was told he is not there and nothing has been done with my case to call (just keep calling) back. Update: Dear Bonnie, I have a quick update for the case. Just noticed even though the billing statement reflects different, I was told last month when called to check the balance that the next due date would be 2020 September 10th for the about of $75. I called on the 9th of September to make a payment which now am being told is late as well it went from $75 to $90 to my surprise and think it's because of the increased several hundreds of dollars on the bill is reflects the higher monthly amount. I checked to see if could remove any late f read more

I have a credit card with Maurices {which they use Comenity Bank}. I have been a Maurices card holder for many many years and as of now cancelled my card and have no plans to shop there again. I made a payment of 47.11 {full balance due} on my card Oct 6th {it shows out of my account} and it was delivered by the 14th and not cashed until the 26th. I contacted them to be told no problem send in proof of payment - I did this on November 3rd. It is now January 3rd and they say they can have up until 90 days of dispute while in the meantime ruining my credit by reporting me as delinquent and adding late fees. My credit was 800+ as I take credit seriously. The proof of payment came from my bank showing they cashed it - why do they need 90 days??? I have contacted them via phone to waster 2+ hours getting nowhere - even the supervisor Sara said all she could do was send on a form requesting an answer, but she said she did not have a number to reach them or was not even sure who dealt with them as they have protocol....HMMM if you're a supervisor should you not be able to resolve issues? So not impressed - not to mention they call regularly and ask me to pay my delinquent account which is NOT delinquent. Comenity sorry but you truly are incompetent, and I will never do business with your firm. There is a reason you have ONE star. Cheri L read more

I paid of my credit card monthly. Was never late. I made a payment and months later the same charge was back on my account. I called them and they removed it. There were multiple transactions showing up in the same amount ($28.28) in and out but it zeroed out. A couple months later it appeared again. They entered a dispute and I never heard any more. Again, a month later the charge was back on my account so I filed another dispute because I had been told the amount had been paid and asked that my account be closed because I was tired of dealing with this. The Rep said they canceled the account and nothing more. After receiving correspondence by mail, it was determined that when the multiple transactions went through my account they refunded me one time to many. So I paid the $28.28 the same day I got the notice to pay off the card. I then received a statement for $62.56 for late fees and interest on the disputed charge. When I called they said yes they would waive it, but then after seeing that the account had been closed said they can't do anything with a closed account, the balance stands. The Rep stated that he always tells customers they shouldn't close the account until disputes are settled. I was never made aware of this when i requested the account be closed, nor did I think I was going to have to pay interest and fees on a disputed charge. I paid the fees so that it would not hurt my excellent credit score but I would NEVER recommend this bank or one of their credit cards to anyone or ever to business with them myself again. read more

Ordered merchandise from Overstock.com and an account was opened through Comenity Bank and I never received the merchandise from Overstock yet Comenity kept demanding payment. It took 6 months to resolve this and then I get a notice that Comenity Bank reported me late to the Credit Bureaus. I spoke to a supervisor and he said there was nothing they could do. I had an Overstock Credit Card that I paid in full in July. Unknown to me, each month you don't use your card they charge you $2. Then a $2 late fee. Haven't received a bill from them since I made my last payment until I bill in a few days ago, November, with the $2 fees, $2 late fees, and interest I now owe $26.00. Then I notice today my credit rating dropped a 150 pts. Low and behold they reported the my payment of $11 (that I didn't know I even owed) was 90 days past due. They pulled the same crap on my about 10 years ago with Victoria Secret. Didn't remember it was even the same bank, or I NEVER would have gotten another card from them. So, after I call them on Monday and attempt to get it corrected I will be canceling my Avenue, Bon-Ton, Pier One, Overstock, and Wayfair credit cards. I consider this to be fraud. I would have just paid the $26 and cancelled the card, but now that they ruined my credit score, there is no way I'm letting this go. read more

Wish I could give them a zero. I was the victim of a fraud on March 18. Immediately made contact. Was told my new card was on the way. After the morons sent a card to the hacker's address, I have made eight calls, the most recent on Tuesday April 6th. Each time I was assured I would receive a card in 48 hours. It's April 10 and still no card. I like the ceasar's rewards but must take my business elsewhere. read more

I made a purchase at Bealls department store in july 2022 for $82.33. I paid the bill through my online bill pay with synovus bank. Synovus cut the check and mailed the payment on july 26, 2022. Comenity bank claims they didn't receive the payment until August 2, 2022 which resulted in a $29 late payment. I contacted comenity protesting such a large late fee and questioned whether they actually received it late. I received to satisfaction I reluctantly paid the late fee which was processed by synovus and mailed august 23rd, 2022. This time comenity claims to have received the check september 6, 2022 resulting in another late fee of $29. I contacted comenity in writing and questioned why the delay in their processing the check from synovus. They responded with the attached letter on october 25, 2022. In the meantime they continue to charge late fees upon late fees. See attached printout. This is exactly why the CFPB is established for. This is not a matter of a consumer refusing or being able to pay a debt. It is a theft by an institution against a consumer. read more

They have the worst customer service representatives I have ever had to deal with. I am a recent graduate and have been having trouble finding a new job and I explained that to the customer service which is why I've been behind a payment and they immediately asked what kind of friend give you money so you can pay it or how are you paying all of your other bills I understand that people make bad choices and don't pay their bills on time but in my situation I'm unemployed and I cannot make that payment and they are so rude. And this is the same seem across-the-board whether they're out sourced into the other countries when those collars call me or the ones here in the States and it's inappropriate to ask me anything about my personal life. At this point I'm just ready to be able to pay off my balance and never have to deal with them again. read more

I had an awful credit scare after an unauthorized charge was made to my account, and it went months without my knowing. Somehow, I never received any sort of late payment notice/account statement/phone call/email/ anything from them, which is what I would expect. I found out about the issue after working with a mortgage officer to purchase our first home and learning that my score had dropped below a certain threshhold....which it had NEVER been anywhere close to before (it had dropped over 100 points for anyone wondering why I was so devastated). That was a result of Comenity reporting me for late payments, which I was totally unaware of. Upon talking with them and explaining my situation, their fraud department worked wonders for my fiance and I. Although it will take about a month to get my score turned around through the credit reporting agencies, we will be able to refinance and receive our old promised rate/PMI deal as before as soon as my credit is back to before. For this, I would give them a 5; however, I'm still looking for any of those statements or notices I never got. If you have an issue, I suggest calling and being nice. People usually return nice in exchange for nice. read more

This company has the worst customer service ever, it doesn't even deserve one star. Whatever you do don't get a cc with them. Our card started being denied so I checked our account and real our payment hadn't been applied. I was told several time they didn't receive it, twice I told them Inwas putting a stop payment on the check and would reissue it, this was on Friday night, on Tuesday I checked my account (Monday was a holiday) to find they posted my check that they supposedly didn't have, of course the bank refused funds because of the stop payment, now along with late fees and finance charges I should have incurred they charged me a $30.00 returned check fee. On that same Tuesday we resent payment including our balance for the upcoming bill, sent certified mail. The following Monday Inchecked the USPS tracking number I had and my check had been delivered, two days later still not posted called and spent an hour and a half on the phone trying to figure out why, from being told I needed to call the bank to I needed to wait 48 hrs so it should be all set in the morning, checked the next day, nothing, checked the next day, nothing so called again this time being told I had to wait 8 to 10 days, I needed to call the bank, they aren't responsible for delays in the postal service?????????? They have my check, I have emailed and emailed and called and caled and here I am a week and a half later and they still haven't applied my payment to my account, my account has been marked past due and my automatic payments are all being denied. I am not surprised to see a 1 rating for this bank, if I had an option I would give it zero or negative. Worst customer service, impatient employees and much more. With out much realization signed up for a Restoraration Hardware card with this bank. It turns out that their processes are so messed up. They went ahead and reported to credit bureau even thou I had a dispute open with them. They went to the extend of calling my neighbors and asking for our whereabouts. All I can say it, if you are signing up with a merchant that does business with this bank - DO NOT SIGN UP. I would rather pay up front or no do business with merchants like Restoration Hardware, GAP, Amercrombie and more. If merchants stop doing business with them they will be forced to shut down. read more

I was rejected for a card 1st because I've never been late or had other negative actions reported, while maintaining a high borrow % limit on the many little cards I have (which I think means I could use more credit limit). 12 years of credit history isn't long enough, while 12 years is also too long. Based on other reviews regarding ridiculous late fees I think they really rejected me because they would have a hard time making money on me having never been late with the many small credit limit cards I already have. I think it's best I don't deal with them after reading other reviews on how desperate the company is for charging fees. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I sent in a bill payment in October and my bank statement showed it was received by them 2 days before the due date. My November statement showed that my October check wasn't received. I, unfortunately, paid the 2 balances owed from my November bill. I called the bank and told them and they asked me to send proof. I sent a redacted copy of my bank statement showing when they received it. They entered it, not as a mailed check, but as an automatic payment as if I called to pay for it over the phone. I mailed the double payment on November 21st and as of December 14th, my bank statement still shows that it hasn't been received. I got a call last week from one of their reps asking if I wanted to pay the balance over the phone. I told her I did already. She informed me that since Comenity took over Bank of America for AAA credit cards, they've had problems and I wasn't the only one going through this. Oh, I also received in October a letter from Comenity's President saying that there was an "intermittent problem". Customers who have paid their bills on time are stuck with the burden of proving to them. I was told that it will take 90 days to get my claim taken care of, in order for me to get a refund of the first amount I paid. read more

Try your best not to do business with this scam of a company. They charge fee after fee. The store I got a card from (Hot Topic) told me explicitly there would be no later fees if I opened an account, and lo and behold, the first email I receive from them is notifying me of a late fee. I purchased a jewelry at Zales Oct. 4, 2018. I signed up for a promotional plan for 12 months interest free if paid for within 12 months. I always pay on time before the statement date of 13th of every month. Next thing I know I was being charged with the finance charge for the whole year plus the monthly due. When I spoke to Comenity bank I was told that the promotional plan ended on Oct. 5th Therefore, my payment in Oct. was not counted for the promotional plan because it was paid by the statement due date, which is Oct 13th after the promotional plan ended. First of all, they're statement due date does not agree with their promotional period due date. Second, they do not offer a grace period, last but the least they would NOT work with me on the 6 days that my payment was posted. Now, I have to pay the interest on entire purchase including the interest for what I already paid over the year. I agree with other reviewers. Dear: Review readers I would never finance anything AGAIN through Comenity Bank I PAID OFF my LOAN EARLY in 2017. Which was For some furniture I bought at Gardner white furniture store. Comenity Bank did the financing.Comenity bank decided to close my account. The bank was not even Courteous enough to let me know they were going to Close My Account. I found out through Credit karma they do a great JOB of keeping you abreast of your financial situation. Comenity Bank just loss a good Paying on time customer. Because there was no activity on the account in the last 30 months they closed it this is what they told me when I contacted them I am OK with that but here's the Problem. They took points from my credit score Trans Union and Equifax. I never heard of a Financial institution taking points Away from a account with a zero balance.Never got a letter in the mail saying that they was going to close my account I found out by looking at my credit report that when I SAW I loss points that's not right so be careful when you finance through this bank. Seriously - if you ever get a card from any online retailer - ask if they are using Comenity Bank first! If they are - run! This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had dealing with a bank or any online company for that matter! I accidently opened accounts with them twice this year - both experiences were just bad. First, in both cases I received my bill JUST before it was due. I paid online (like I do with every other account I have). A full month later I get a notice saying that my bank declined the payment. Ummm no. there is plenty of money to cover that payment so I call and they read back the account number that they said I put in the system. Not my account number! Not even close - I don't know where this number came from. I immediately give them the correct information but now they want late fees and returned check fees. I tried to get them to work with me because worse case - it was an honest mistake. NOPE. So, I cancelled the card. A few months later I found another online retailer I wanted to work with. Ordered the card. Sure enough - I received my first bill.. from Comenity about 10 days before it was due. O.K. I decided to let it go. Maybe I had my fingers on the wrong button before. I made my payment and was very careful this time... Sure enough a month later I got another letter saying my payment was declined. I called again and they said "I must have typed in the wrong number" this time they even said they sent the payment to Wells Fargo! I haven't banked with them in over 10 years - so I know it was not my fat fingers pressing the wrong buttons! HOW would I even know Wells Fargos routing numbers?! I tried again to explain that there was a problem with their system. They said they cant help what I type! Again, late fees and returned check fees they refused to waive. The supervisor I spoke with was cold, rude and unapologetic. I guess you get that way when you have so many complaints you have to deal with. Don't do this to yourself! read more

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST!!!!!!!! I would give them negative stars if I could. I have an Ulta store card since 2016 and never had any issues. It has a revolving credit and June 1st I received a letter stating they decreased my limit that was supposedly due to a negative credit report. I wouldn't really mind them lowering but they decreased it so much that even with a small balance, I look like I have a huge revolving credit. I have no other option but to payoff the card. I absolutely have no negative or derogatory remarks on my credit report. I even went as far as pulling up my credit score and they are all good! I read the letter further and they indicated my credit score was low from 2018!!! TWO YEARS AGO!!!!! I was very patient and asked if it could be fixed as it seems to be a bank error. I mean, why would they use a report from June 2018!?? My score for June 2020 is definitely not what they indicated! There was so much back and forth but all their internet customer service team did was tell me it was based off my credit report and to contact the credit bureaus. There is no reason to contact them because my score and my report is good! I checked all three reports and they're all great. I tried to ask why they used a report from 2018 and is there any way to fix this. They never answered my question, never acknowledged my concern, and were like bots saying the same thing all over "We based your decision on your credit report." No effort whatsoever to look into it. If you have an option to choose another bank, do it! I just use my Ulta card for the points, but this business practice from Comenity is absolutely disgusting. read more

I had no choice when I had a dental emergency to use this company. The automated system never works, I have to type my information in multiple times before it recognizes it. Then I'm directed to a person who will charge me $9 for paying my bill. Even though it won't charge to use the automated system. The system kicks me out every time and directs me to a person who charges me $9. But I have also been told that if I pay tomorrow or on such-and-such day I won't be charged $9. So I do and they charge me $9! WTH. I obviously don't make very much because I needed a credit card for an emergency, so being charged $9 every month adds up. Avoid ANY credit card offered by Comenity bank. I have been trying to close three accounts (Sportsman's Warehouse, Bootbarn, and Maurices) since July 2022. I have paid the balances in full and requested the accounts to be closed. I continue receiving statements with balances due ($2.00 per month plus interest) even though I have been told several time by their customer service department that all accounts have been closed. When I looked at my credit report, they show the FULL credit limit DUE which is FALSE!!! It is November 2022 now and all three are still open and ALL three have the $2.00 monthly fee with interest!!!! Avoid this company. I don't know how to get these accounts to be closed when the company REFUSES to close them! I've contacted the BBB and also the Credit Agencies disputing these accounts. All my credit card bills and other bills are on autopay, I think they don't want to allow autopay so they can charge people their ridiculous fees...last time my balance was only $3, I logged in and saw a $3 balance and paid it. Didn't use the card for about 2 months, then logged in again and it said my account was delinquent and I owed them $13 in interest and late fees! Turned out that since I paid $3 balance later in the evening before my due date it was not processed on the same day so they charged me late fee and interest fee and then next month again! And never emailed me about it, if I did not log in to my account they would just keep charging me interest on top of interest every month. read more

Worst customer experience with IKEA bank/card I have ever had... Applied for IKEA basic card, have got it in two weeks with 6k limit. Used it for two weeks almost bought everything that I need and they closed my card without any notifications, no emails, no mails. OMG!!! How?! Why!!! After the support call which was "outsorcing" barely qualified to answer the calls. This person from 3rd try finally has found my account and explained that they can change their desicion in 3 month after application. #ikea #comenity #dontuse #dontbuy read more

Comenity Bank can Can destroy your credit. They will stand their grounds no matter what you say. I opened the credit card account when placing and order at Wayfair website. I did not read any reviews but I trusted that Wayfair, which is a public company worth over 5 billion dollars, to know how to choose a bank to service it's clients. It was a big mistake. They use predatory tactics to gain new accounts. They will offer "no interest" for one year when you open new account at checkout stage on Wayfair website. When the year expired they do not notify you that the following month they will charge over 30% interest on the remaining balance. They are the only credit card bank in USA that do not offer automatic payment option. The reason is to make as much profit as possible from late fees. Without the automatic payment option and when most consumers opt for paperless statements, there will always be more account holders that will miss a payment. Even if a payment is late by one day, they will refuse to wave the $39 fee. When a payment is missed, they will reduce your credit line to match whatever the balance is at the time. So if your credit line is 7000 and your balance is 1500, after missing a payment, they will reduce the line of credit to 1500. By doing so the account would be maxed out. Maxing out the account has a chain reaction that reduce credit score and hurt all your other accounts. It is about time that a class action lawsuit would be filed against this bank. There are thousand of complaints against Comenity Bank but no action has been taken to correct how they do business. read more

I have been a member for years for my children to be able to utilize services at Sylvan Learning Centers. My account has always been on automatic payments. With COVID, my account kept being taking off auto-payments, resulting in late fees. Spoke with CODY this morning, could not have cared less. After paying the account off in JUNE for $2500 I was again charged a late fee for July!!! He said it's not his problem, I will waive one late fee, which made no sense, since the late fee was a result of Junes late fee. Again, he didn't care. Pay an additional $34 and be done. I won't be using them again. read more

My credit score was 752, when I got my letter saying they were dening my credit for Abby carpet! My credit file is 100% payment on time! I have the money for this but felt it was a great 6 month option. Oddly, just recently I had closed my Herberger's and Maurice's accounts, with of course a perfect payment history and was held by them!!!!When I closed these accounts the recording told me I may not be eligible for credit soon. Will be pursuing this with the attorney general office, and our attorney has it. I was denied because I canceled other cards. Will report to the BBS and calling credit bureau! read more

Horrible Bank! Issued me an account under Toyota Rewards Visa (an account I did not ask for, but Toyota signed me up for) had a balance of $3,000 dollars, at a ridiculous % of over 25%! So, I pay off by debt, in less than a month, AND THEY IMMEDIATELY CLOSE MY ACCOUNT! What a joke! Thanks for wasting my time; while damaging my credit score! read more

I had the misfortune of having my credit card account acquired by Comenity. Certainly, nobody in their right mind should never voluntarily open an account with them. Problems with them range from the irritating to what I would consider fraudulent business practices on their part. One only need look at other reviews to see the host of complaints. On the irritating side, they don't even have an app, so you have to log on to a webpage every time you want to do anything. What a waste of time and inconvenience! On the more serious side, I just spent nearly half a year fighting with them over a charge that I disputed back in May (2020). I made a purchase, had the merchant cancel, but then refuse to issue anything other than a credit. I disputed to the highest level with the merchant to no avail and, to my dismay, found the bank uninterested in pursuing this at all or taking my dispute seriously. So much for the online purchase protection that we supposedly have when making purchases with a credit card. All of my appeals to Comenity and the documentation I provided appear to have gone into the circular file. Their only response was to repeatedly tell me to contact the merchant. I tried to convince them that we should be on the same side, and should both be fighting the unethical business practices of the merchant, but it's clear that they have no interest in protecting the interests of their clients or their own business reputation. read more

I recently faced a challenging situation with Comenity Bank that has left me in a dire position, and I feel compelled to share my experience. I have been a customer of Comenity Bank, holding a DELL PAY credit card that unfortunately switched to Comenity Bank from Dell Financial Services. Unfortunately, after a dispute with their customer care representatives, my account was flagged for fraud when I was trying to request a letter from them that my mortgage company was requesting. Despite providing them with my driver's license, social security card, and W2, all with my current address, Comenity Bank permanently closed my account, citing an inability to validate my identity. The timing of this closure couldn't be worse, as it jeopardizes the closing of my mortgage, putting my home purchase at risk. I have invested significant time and financial resources into the closing process, and the consequences of this account closure are severe. What adds to the frustration is the lack of responsiveness and assistance from Comenity Bank during this critical period. The urgency of my situation is not being adequately acknowledged, and I am left in a state of distress. I sincerely hope that others can learn from my experience. If you're considering Comenity Bank for your financial needs, I would caution you to be aware of the potential challenges you may face, particularly in times of dispute or urgency. read more

Please be advised that these reviews are accurate. I have had my Victoria Secret card through Comenity Bank for several years. My card remained active when my credit score was at it's lowest and my credit card debt, with other creditors, was at it's highest. However, I remained in good standing with my Victoria Secret card. Now that my overall credit card debt has decreased drastically and my score has increased drastically I was notified, through CreditKarma, that my account with Comenity Bank was closed. I initially contacted Victoria Secret and was told that my account was closed due to findings with my credit report. Please keep in mind that in return this made my credit score drop 33 points! I contacted the credit bureau, with whom they reported me to, and was told that there was no findings on their end as to why Comenity Bank should have closed my account so I was asked if I wanted to file a dispute. In which I did so. I contacted Comenity Bank who only stated that they did so due to what was reported to them by the bureau. Huh?? I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau and for anyone else who has suffered at their hands lease do so as well. You do so online and it is an easy and quick process. I will be taking further action if this is not resolved. read more

I applied for this credit card on the Wayfair website. Made payments on time, each month. Then in September they announced that they closed my account, because Wayfair doesn't work with them anymore. Good for Wayfair! Then in September I had financial difficulties because of this stupid pandemic time, and instead of making payment on 10th and made payment on 15th but I paid off my balance completely, it was $ 0. When they sent me a bill for $33 late fee, I called them I asked to remove that fee, because I made my previous payments on time, and I paid off my balance. I asked them why you charge fees on the account that currently has 0 and it's closed??! And I simply wasn't able to pay it on time I had financial difficulties. They didn't agree with that, I was super angry because in any other bank they would agree that it's the case there to remove late fee is appropriate but they didn't. I wasn't able to made that payment unfortunately. In December they sent me $68, so they added one more late fee. But thanks God I was table to pay it in December! I hope they will choke with these money. It's an evil company. And btw their automatic payment systems needs many improvements. Long waiting time on hold is another problem. read more

My response to their computer generated (no response) email. I am not satisfied at all!! I called Customer Service because I was trying to make a payment on my account on the day it was due and because it was 8:15 p.m. I was advised by your very rude overseas call center that I would be charged a $25.00 late fee. I then spoke to someone in the United States who again would not budge regarding this issue. This is highly offensive and perhaps a violation of the Fair Credit Act (I will investigate further). I find it distressing that although I paid well over the amount due on the due date (by a customer who has consistently paid well over the minimum due on my account each month) that Comenity would be so rigid and anti-customer service that they would insist on this policy, again from a customer who has always kept their account in good standing. I will pay the remaining balance due minus the $25.00 dollar fee you insist on charging and again will investigate this issue regarding the Fair Credit Act and will note a review on the major websites regarding your lack of customer service. read more

I have a few store cards that I have had for years, Jared, Talbots, and Coldwater Creek are the ones that Comenity has taken over from other banks. I got caught like many when this pandemic hit. I was waiting for a check to arrive from March 11 and couldn't get a hold of the company that it was due from as they were in CA and I am in FL. Come to find out they had been closed due to the Coronavirus. I explained this to Comenity and was told not to worry about it and they would give me a 2 month extension to pay. I finally got my check in July, I paid all of their accounts up to date and now I am being told that my Talbots card is being closed due to a low credit score!!! They knew what the issue was and still closed my account that didn't even have a balance on it as I haven't used the card since back in Dec. This is stupid and can't wait to pay off my others with this bank to never use them again. The kicker is I had others with them but the companies have gone out of business! If this is how they treat their business' as well I can see why they are no longer in business. read more

This company is in violation of the TCPA. They need to STOP CALLING. Comenity Bank has faced several allegations of violating TCPA. Here are some examples of TCPA violations: Calling at odd hours and contacting consumers late at night and early in the morning. Calling the consumer at their workplace and leaving a message about the debt with the person who answers the call. Calling and not identifying themselves or their purpose. Not identifying the entity to whom debt is owed. Calling and talking about the debt without first verifying if the consumer owes it or not. Not honoring a consumer's wishes to not call them; not honoring the Do-Not-Call-Registry. Threatening consumers with lawsuits that are not applicable to their case. Threatening and intimidating consumers with legal action where none is intended. Leaving messages containing details of the debt with people other than the consumer. This could include their relatives, co-workers, friends, and/or neighbors. Making details of the debt public and causing undue embarrassment to the consumer who owes the debt read more

BEWARE if you are thinking about using Comenity! DON"T DO IT! I pay my bills ahead of schedule every month. Yesterday, I received several calls saying my payment was late. I went on line to check out was going on and it clearly showed on my payment schedule that my next payment was due on April 4. Today is March 21! On top of that, they had charged me $90 in late fees!!! They have charged me these late fees for the past several months! No one ever answers the phone at customer service and they just recently allowed you to use a debit or credit card to pay your bill! If you need help and want to speak with an actual person, plan on taking the day off and committing to just trying to speak with someone. When I finally reached a person today, she said that the reason I was charged a late fee was because I paid ahead of my due date and they don't apply it! WHAT??? They will not refund the late fees! I am contacting the Attorney General and have filed a complaint with the BBB. read more

This institution,(very mental, unstable company!!!!) Literally insane! Doing the same thing over & over expecting different results in finance! Really disscuting that on average call about 7 times a day, starting at am and continuing all day long. on your day off every 2 hrs. Then they try scam calls. Using different numbers saying there someone else? And I can see it's the same number. Trying to check out our intelligence? All in reality, I'm all about helping others out that need a better life. They DO NOT about nothing about customer service in my! Experience. In our broken world today, we don't need this petty nonsense especially if your bill isn't due for another month! So I made a decision and will go to the store and pay my own bill and continue to block all there numbers from around the . And Report spam and harassment. No offense but the illegals are being Illegal. Have a positive day. read more

I had a terrible experience with Comenity Bank, and I would not recommend them to anyone. Their practices feel completely misleading and borderline fraudulent. I noticed unauthorized charges on my account, and when I contacted customer service, they were unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of resolving the issue, they kept transferring me between departments with no clear answers. It felt like they were intentionally avoiding taking responsibility. Their billing system is confusing, and fees seem to appear out of nowhere. Even after making payments on time, I was hit with unexpected charges that were never properly explained. What's most frustrating is the lack of transparency and accountability. A bank should provide security and trust, but my experience with Comenity has been the opposite. I strongly advise others to think twice before opening an account with them. read more

This bank appears to be unfairly charging customers. My wife opened a credit card through Sephora and made a purchase of about $65. We never received any billing statement. Later, the bank added a $40 late fee. I contacted customer service, and they agreed to waive $25 of the fee. I then paid the original balance plus the remaining $25 late fee. This issue occurred in November, and we believed it was resolved. However, in March, we received another call from customer service demanding around $200. They claimed that the original payment was one day late and continued adding additional late fees. Now, the customer service representatives are threatening legal action, which feels unreasonable given the situation. We made a good-faith effort to resolve the issue and paid what we were told was owed. This situation feels unfair and needs to be reviewed. read more

If I could give this company a negative amount of stars -0, I would. This is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I submitted a payment to them on the 12th of the month. They did not try to process the payment until approximately the 26th of the month and by that time, I thought they had already taken their money and have been paid. By the time I found out that they didn't receive the funds, I was marked late on my credit report and so I made another payment that they also didn't process in a timely manner and this time my credit report reflected that I was 60 days late ruining my credit report and my credit score. This has happened so many times that I am paying this account off next week and I will NEVER do business with Comenity Bank ever again!! read more

I got a lane Bryant credit card for my girlfriend. She bought bras from there all the time so I thought it was a good idea to save some money, boy was I wrong! I paid off my balance in December, then I was charged a $2 "finance charge" after paying off the card. Think my balance was 0, I didn't bother looking at statements until May. In May the balance was over $200 from late fees on the $2 finance charge. I paid all but one late fee and closed my account then ANOTHER $2 finance charge showed up a week after I paid off the account THE SECOND TIME. I called customer service and was transferred to the wrong people then transferred to a "manager" who didn't answer my questions and hung up on me. This company is the absolute worst! 100% a scam! read more

I am writing to express significant concern regarding recent charges applied to my account with Kay Jewelers and Comenity Bank. Specifically, I was recently subjected to unexpected interest charges. Upon switching to paperless billing, I was not notified that interest would subsequently be applied to the balance throughout the year. As a result, a full year's worth of interest was added to my statement. I am very dissatisfied with this process and the lack of clear communication regarding the financial implications of opting for paperless billing. I request an immediate review of these charges and clarification on how this interest was calculated and applied without prior notification. read more

They are scam!!! Do not trust these people. They reallyyy be on some Bullshit. Oh btw they have a 100% interest rate. If you have perfect payment history they will drag you through it! Be careful the experience I've had is non other. I've asked to speak with supervisor . No help from customer service or support. I just keep getting told there's nothing they can do. It is what it is. No documentation that this would be 100% interest no thing no communication I don't mind paying off the rest of my loan. Ammount. What a terrible credit card company! This place and GE Money Bank are the worst loan sharking credit card issuers out there. DO NOT GET A CREDIT CARD FROM THEM. They issue mostly store credit cards for places like Victoria's Secret, and issue a handful of co branded cards that are impossible to obtain unless you have a 750+ credit score. They will nickel and dime you in fees, move around your billing cycles, and do whatever it takes to show you that you are nothing but a number to them. I called to close my account and they said why? I said they are the worst credit card I have, they said fine its closed. Not even a thank you for your business. Ack! read more

Comenity Bank/Wayfair is the worst credit card servicer on this planet. They regularly take over an hour to answer the phone and their website regularly requires a password change, that once completed, is not recognized. TWO attempts locks you out, and then you have to call a number nobody answers. Due to these issues and their sporadic reporting to the Credit reporting agencies, we needed an update to complete a disabled Veteran's refinance. It took 5 calls over 3 days to finally request a "Balance Letter" that is required to update their credit report. A day later the fax arrived showing the balance on the card as $XX.XX. WTF! read more

Do not trust this bank. Their products are designed in misleading ways -- burying important terms in fine print and creating blind spots through a lack of communication. Search them in consumer venues like CFPB or BBB and you'll see the same pattern of complaints. Customers are hit with thousands in surprise charges that are technically 'legal' only because they hide behind the fine print -- a classic trap. They operate under different names, such as Alphaeon Credit for medical expenses. If the product you're considering is linked to them, avoid it at all costs. read more
