For Direct Express today is 04/11/25 @524p California. Who ever access my dad's account is the worst customer service trippin with heavy Hispanic accent. I received a phone call after coming back from social security half hour ago. I could give zero stars, I would. I've been trying to help my 89-year-old father--who has dementia, is hard of hearing, visually impaired, and illiterate--get his account verified with this bank. We've provided every document imaginable: passport, ID, Social Security card. We even went to Social Security twice just to satisfy their requirements. After all this, a representative from the bank called me with the most unprofessional and cold attitude I've ever experienced. Instead of offering help or understanding, she gave me warnings--yes, warnings--because my elderly father couldn't verify a number he didn't even set up. Are you kidding me? Yesterday, my dad almost choked on his own saliva in my car. Today, we dragged ourselves to yet another government office just to get him "verified" again. When I explained this, calmly and respectfully, I was met with zero empathy. To top it all off, someone actually told me to send in his birth certificate. My mom recently passed away. My dad is mentally declining. I'm a single mom raising two kids, dealing with grief, and now this mountain of unnecessary bureaucracy. It's clear this bank lacks not only compassion, but basic human decency. I don't wish what I'm going through on anyone--but maybe if someone from their team ever finds themselves in a similar position, they'll finally understand what kindness means. I have banked with the major banks but never in 45+ years as a customer have I ever been treated as a human being. The Studio City branch manager, Carol Gagnon goes beyond her call of duty to make sure everything is correct and working properly. I had a difficult transition with corporate, trust and money market accounts but Carol beautifully integrated the problems behind the scenes and gave me amazing personal attention. I interviewed four new banks in early April before deciding to give Comerica Studio City my accounts. I know I will be there a long time. Carol needs to be acknowledged and now I know why she has been there 15 years! She cares and she gets the job done without the cold, robotic corporate b.s. No bank is perfect, it's the people; most people are cold and impersonal. Not here at this branch. I feel very lucky to have found them. read more

RECOMMEND NOT DOING BUSINESS WITH COMERICA! Please read: I currently have a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) with Comerica. They are, currently, one of the only financial institutions offering these kinds of programs. It is serviced from Philadelphia, PA, Dallas, TX and possibly other locations. First with the origination, I was referred to their West Hollywood, CA branch where the representative did not return my calls for 2 weeks. I went to Studio City which was closer to home and easier to walk in personally. I obtained the loan now in place. As interest rates are rising, in an attempt to make a large payment to bring down the balance of this loan, I contacted them by phone to trequest the proper procedure to make a onetime wire transfer. This would usually involve a routing number which they provided by phone. During this call the representative I spoke with was clear that this for a HELOC account. I effected the wire transfer. Three days later the funds were returned to my bank (Chase), rejected by Comerica less a $25.00 fee. Upon re contacting Comerica by phone, they informed me that they did not accept wire transfer payments for HELOC accounts. I then posed the question as to why they provided the routing information and didn't bother to inform me of this policy to begin with to begin with, when the representative knew it was for a HELOC? They proceeded to dodge my inquiries by asking the name of who I spoke with and when, denying any responsibility of their own. I will also add that one cannot obtain online access to this type of account unless they open a checking account with Comerica as well. This would be their attempt at leveraging customers for more business. In summation, they rejected a payment they indicated they would accept and charged me a fee for doing so. Fortunately for them, misrepresentation cannot be substantively proven here. Comerica's administration is demonstrably mismanaged, incompetent and inept to levels beyond absurdity. THEY'RE MESSED UP! So, it's a fine Thursday afternoon, I've already landed myself a coveted parking spot in front of the Studio City/Laurel Canyon Post Office and mailed off my biz. And since my car is dangerously low on loose change for parking meters (which are getting crazy expensive nowadays, no?) I figure I'll stop by a friendly neighborhood bank to buy a roll of quarters, real quick-like. One can never have too many quarters. I walk north past the shop that sells the most crackulicious frozen yogurt in town, think about and opt against grabbing a box of noodles from Pick Up Stix, and slowly approach the bank on the corner of LC and Ventura, First Republic or something, which I think is a bank for very rich people. Hands curled around my eyes, I peek into the dark interior through the glass like a kid looking at fish in an aquarium, and my suspicions are confirmed. No tellers, just those desks where you open accounts or talk to someone about how the money in your Swiss bank account is doing. Everyone turns to stare back at me and I decide on the spot that this is not the place to throw down a tenski for some change. As I turn away, I see the glowing banner of the Comerica Bank across the parking lot, and instantly feel at home - this is a place for the plebs. As I walk in and make my way through the empty maze of aisle dividers, I play the which-of-the-three-available-tellers'-windows should I approach, and settle on explaining my request to all three - just need to buy a roll of quarters. As all three young tellers look at one another, a curious expression of concern on their faces, and a nearby supervisor takes the ball - do I have an account here? Oh, no, I don't, but I just need a roll of quarters. The supervisor proceeds to explain to me somewhat scoldingly that they can't do that - it has to be a deposit and withdrawal combo, from an existing customer, to make change. They can't actually reach into the drawer in front of them and do an exchange, but maybe I should try the yogurt shop, as apparently the WaMu (now Chase) across the street has the same policy, which has been that way "for years." Leave the *bank* and get change from the *yogurt shop*? Um, say what? The Comerica supervisor did not react all too kindly to my then asking if she could make me a peanut butter/chocolate fro-yo combo, sadly, so I left, making a mental note to get quarters the next time I actually walk into my own bank, which - given direct deposit and ATM machines - is never. This bank is just terrible. The only decent branches are Sherman Oaks and Beverly Hills but that's probably because I know the employees. Studio City and Marina Del Rey? It's like the lights are on but nobody's home. The tellers seem as if they couldn't get hired anywhere else. I need to switch banks altogether. read more

Do banks still ask for envelopes? This one does!! Get with the new program comerica. You don't need envelopes... I drove out to studio city just for the atm machine to ask for an envelope and they don't even provide one how inconvenient!!! Don't bank with them! Not worth it. read more

Don't bank with Comerica Bank they steal your money and then close a 12-year-old account with no warning!

This branch specifically has been an issue every single time i've been there. Once, i went to deposit my scholarship money. The woman looks at my check which was not even a very large amount and goes, "why do you need this money?" she then brought the manager and accused me of fraud because my legal name has an apostrophe which was reflected on my scholarship, but i couldn't get the apostrophe on my license. They called Wells Fargo, confirmed not only the name of the headmaster who signed the check, but that i was an ACTUAL STUDENT AND STILL REFUSED TO PROCESS MY CHECK. I went in again today and my entire transaction history was questioned even though I was doing a routine withdrawal. It is the same girl every single time. Never an issue anywhere else but this God forsaken Studio City location. read more

I started banking with Comerica in 2011 because they had this great promotion where if you open a checking account and use your debit card at least 10 times before a 3 month period, you automatically receive $100... who WOULDN'T sign up for that? They were true to their word and awarded me the $100, but little did I know, they would start hustling me BIG time with UNANNOUNCED monthly fees. After being charged nearly $15 dollars a month just have the account open, I was on the fence about keeping it open until a horrible customer service experience ended my confusion once and for all with a final decision to cut ties with them completely. I went into the Studio City location one day to try and get quarters out of a $5 bill. The man behind the counter was an absolute ass. He not only was exceptionally rude to me but refused to change out my $5. (Isn't that illegal??!?! Yeah, pretty sure it is.) I had to go next door to the Coffee Bean to get my change and that is where the nice young man taught me that a bank teller is OBLIGATED to give you change no matter what, even if you ask for 1,000 pennies, he still has to do it! I'd had enough. I cancelled my account. (And even then, a different guy was STILL rude to me!!!) So screw you guys, Comerica. You officially lost my business and with a few hundred nasty referrals, you won't be getting much business after you messed with me =D read more

this is the worst excuse for a bank EVER! I'd been to 3 branches LaJolla, Beverly HIlls, studio city and one was worse than the other. They practically held me hostage while I deposited money. The tellers would take my checks and my drivers license and walkl away so I could not leave while I PUT MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT. Unless there has been a rash of people putting money in the wrong account, I can't explain why I would be held hostage in that manner. I complained and eventually closed my accounts in writing and 4 months later come to find they did not close my account, they still have $750 but they'd still been taking fees. They couldn't have screwed up the banking part of being a bank more!!! BEWARE! read more

If I would be able to give 0 star I will give 0 star. Never go to this bank branch . Never go to Comerica Bank. Worst customer service I have ever seen. Manager is RUDE , employee is absolutely unprofessional. I tried to talk to manager , called her couple times left her my phone number and she never called me back. I had a problem starting from opening the account and even had problem the talking to the customer service from the back office. Tried to call 800 number on the back of my atm card - and guess what ... after 6 PM nobody answering your call you can leave just voicemail because this is the after work hours ... absolutely unhelpful.. Looks like they're making problem for purpose. I had a such bad experience working with COMERICA bank specially with Ventura and Laurel Canion brunch in Studio City CA .
