Heading into any tattoo parlor for the first time can be a tad overwhelming. .. its a tattoo parlor. But this dimly lit place has great people that are there to help you with your dreams. I searched around for someplace to get my sons first tattoo for his boot camp graduation and Rianne sparked my interest. My wife wanted a tattoo also but she was a bit scared b/c of the pain and the commitment. Rianne's art on the website was great and her personality was spectacular. So my son and i went and spoke to Rianne and made an appointment with the promise of a huge tip if my wife got a tattoo also.. Since then (about 2 months ago) my wife has 4 tattoos and a surface piercing (from Rianne's hubby, Sean), My son has 5 tattoos, and I am 1 session away from my full calf sleeve being finished. Once that calf is done it's time to start the other. Every time one of us are in there getting tattooed Sean is always friendly and his apprentice Jen is running around like a squirrel taking care of things for everyone, still taking the time to chat and be a good friend. Rianne gets down to business and does what she does best without a 2nd thought. While we are getting tattooed Painless J and Johnny drop in and give her props for her great work. Its a family in there and it truely doesn't take much to become part of that family. If you are looking for a long time tattoo relationship or just want 1 piece to hang onto the rest of your life. I was interested in getting my Tragus pierced and looked into some reviews on Jen. I got her contact information off the website, emailed her and told her what I wanted to have done. Jen responded to my email and told me to contact the shop to set up an appointment. Upon calling the shop the man who answered the phone was kinda off but handed the phone to Jen. I set up a same day appointment. When I arrived at the shop, Jen was finishing up with someone else and greeted me at the counter. She pulled out different selections from behind the case and we talked about the difference between metals and she wanted me to be comfortable in my selection. After making a choice she told me to give her a few minutes while she set up. Once called to the back she went over care instructions and asked me if I was ok and answered all my questions. After placing the 'dot' to where my piercing would go she had me look at it. She again asked me if I had any questions. She was very easy to talk to and did an awesome job with the piercing. This was my first time at the shop. It was super clean, great location and I would totally recommend seeing Jen for any piercings. She told me to come back for any changes of jewelry or if I needed to have anything readjusted. Very pleased with my piercing and the quality and price for the work done. read more

Why 3 stars? because the Piercing experience was 5 stars and the tattoo experience was 0. Piercing: Tobias definitely knows what he is doing and takes the time to explain the entire process. Everything went smooth and according to my wife: painless While waiting for her, I attempted to talk to Johnny Sr. about my tattoo ideas. He was sitting on a stool in a lobby and was playing some sort of candy crush game on his computer - So you can guess how busy he was. He absolutely showed no interest and seemed kind of annoyed that I was "interfering" with his game. I am not the type of guy to beg you for your service if I feel that you don't give a darn about my business. Attitude tells you a lot of about the quality of someone's work. I went right back to my chair and waited for my wife to finish with her piercing. 1 minute later, someone walked and and inquired about getting a large piece on his arm. He was greeted with the same attitude. It seems that Johnny has been doing this for way too long and lost the motivation for this job. I can get that, but in this case just go hide in the back and leave your younger crew in charge of the lobby. He lost my business - too bad for him but it is all good because will give my $$$ to a good tattoo talented artist that really wants it. read more

Came here for a tragus piercing and my friend got double lobes. While I wasn't crazy about how the piercer spaced my friend's lobes, she did an excellent job on my tragus. It is a very clean shop with beautiful jewelry, decor, and wonderful staff. However, I have never paid so much for a piercing in my life. The final bill with about a 20% tip was around $80 and all the jewelry they have in the showcases, while beautiful and excellent quality, are also outrageously expensive. The wait was also crazy long and the staff under quoted the time considerably. Really wish they took piercing appointments, but was told everything was walk-in. While I love the people who work there and the shop is very nice, it's just not something I can afford. If you don't mind spending a bit more, then yes, come here, they have some great stuff and excellent piercers. read more

I was really excited to go for my first piercing. When I entered the room with my friend, the piercer was like lay down you items on that end bla bla bla. I had plans to film it because of my upcoming YouTube channel but his attitude is just disgusting!! Damn I forgot his name but a good description is he has huge hole ear piercing! I came here as a walk-in because they said since the tat I wanted was so small it didn't really require a consult. I was also looking to get a triple forward helix done and since piercings don't require appointments I just came in early afternoon. I was first greeted by Jen, who was so warm and helpful. The tattoo artist was busy at the moment so in the meantime we talked about what I wanted to get pierced. Apparently the triple forward helix is a very subjective thing to pierce and only like 10% of people are candidates because their ear is not long enough or something. Unfortunately I was one of those people; we couldn't even do the double helix becuse she said it would look crazy and the back would be poking out. I appreciated her honesty and commitment to a quality piercing. So I settled on getting my tragus and 3rd and 4th hole again. She helped me pick out cool jewelry. That's one thing I was looking for, they have an excellent selection of piercing jewelry (cute little studs to small gold hoops, which is what I eventually want). When healing time is over, I plan on coming back and having her inspect it and switch out the jewelry, which they will do for free. So I can't say enough great things about Jenn, she was helpful, cool, friendly, and knew what she was doing. Trust and believe her. After that was done, the tat artist finally came out and sort of rushed me through when I told him what I wanted (an infinity sign with my kids names built in). He basically said he couldn't do it. Well he didnt say that, he said it would have to go around my entire wrist and he kind of shut down the conversation after that. Didn't really brainstorm with me. Didn't really talk about other options. I didn't feel comfortable with him and didn't want to rush it so I left and went to Marlowe (which I actually experienced the same indifference/hesitation). Review to follow on the excellent place I finally went to that WORKED WITH ME. Overall, I will absolutely be returning here to see Jen for my piercing needs. For those 3 piercings (including earring cost) it was $252, which I think is on the steeper side but its not Claires. For anything other than lobes, I would definitley go to a legit place like this. read more

Jen is AWESOME!!! Even though she wasn't able to pierce my nose she was still able to offer me help with a change on some jewelry and I cannot say happy I am with her suggestions and how much better I feel! Without her help I would have had to remove my piercings because of the irritation and pain but thanks to her that's not a problem any more! She was honest, up front and totally professional. I felt like we have been friends for ever and I look forward to coming back another time for more work! I came here a few years back because my friend was wanted to get her room pierced. The body piercer did a great job and knew exactly what she was doing Long story short, I had pierced my Tragus at another shop in fairfax and the piercer used the wrong earring to do it, he used a curved ring that was pulling down which kept causing my ear to get infected and I was so upset because I loved that piercing and didn't want to take it out. I explained that to the lady piercing my friend and she looked at it and immediately told me he used the wrong ring and she put in a straight earring so it didn't pull down on my ear and I immediately felt relieved !!! And my ear was perfectly fine and healed within a few days!!! Moral of the story is. Come here If you want a knowledgeable piercer and someone who knows what their doing because it really does make a difference!! read more

Got my tragus piercing done by Jen 3 months ago. She went over everything and really put me at ease. Pain level on a scale of 1 to 10 was 2. It hurt a lot less than I expected. I was like that's it?! When I walked in she greeted me by name. I've been to other shops in the area for piercings and I always feel like I am being judged and made fun of because I don't fit the stereotype. I've been here more than a few times, all for piercings or piercing-related things. I've had six piercings done here by everyone there who pierces, and so far they've all healed beautifully; no keloids, infections, or rejections and I'm really very pleased with all of them (I just recently had my tragus pierced, so that one's still sore). The only hiccups I've had is the bar put in my tongue web fell out on my way home. I didn't have time to turn around and go back, so Sean offered that I come back the next day and he would re-pierce it for free, which was absolutely excellent. When I lost a disc on my nape, I only had to pay for the replacement disc (no extra fee for putting it on). Everyone in the shop is really friendly, tattoo artists and piercers alike. They're always smiling, laughing, and chatting and the whole place has a very positive attitude. When it comes time to get down to business, they happily go over the entire process of getting pierced, determinng if you're anatomy is appropriate for the piercing, what can happen after you've been pierced (feeling faint, etc), how to take care of the piercing, as well as any questions you might have left - all in a confidently professional manner. As for the actual piercing experience, it's always been lovely. The pain for every one of my piercings has been very minimal, and of course a friend is always welcome to hold your hand in the piercing room for moral support (trust me, you don't need the hand for the pain). They talk through the entire process so you always know exactly what's happening (marking where the needle will go, alright are you ready? breathe in, breathe out, youre done! just putting in the jewelry..) at all times. Every question you could possibly have about piercing, they know the answer (and will probably throw in a few jokes and stories along with it). I've been pierced other places, but this is definitely, without a doubt, my absolute favorite. They know exactly what they're doing and they consistently do it well. I have yet to be tattooed here, but that is certainly in my future plans. read more

This is my go to shop for piercings and jewelry. The shop is super clean and the staff is friendly, over the phone and in person. I started coming here about four years ago. Maybe stop by twice a year for a new piercing or jewelry change, I've been helped by two piercers who aren't there anymore (tobias and Jennifer) and then by JP. No body remembers me even after seeing me but they always give me excellent service, and answer all my questions and give me great advice on care and placement. To me the quality of jewelry and the price are perfectly reasonable and worth it. My jewelry never looks dirty or scratched and very comfortable, They have a really good selection of threaded and threadless jewelry, I've bought anatometal, neometal, and bvla here. A lot of random piercing shops do not carry a wide selection or even pretty jewelry. Ive gotten my 3rd lobes, helix, and nose pierced here. I really love that they sterilize the tools right there, and use a high quality sterilizer (the same kinds that even dental offices use to sterilize their equipment). Every time I've gotten a piercing the piercer has shown me the spot, made sure I was comfortable and then happy with the placement. I had my nipples pierced at Comes a Time in 2003 at their old location. I was impressed by the cleanliness and professional atmosphere in the studio. My piercer was great: professional, quick, and accurate. After the second piercing I got a bit light-headed, so he produced some imported dark chocolate for me to nibble on to help get my blood sugar back up! The piercings healed without trouble, and gave me no trouble for the 3 years before I decided to remove them. About 6 months ago I went back to have my second tattoo done at the new location (my first was done in another city). I have no innate drawing or design ability, but I knew what I wanted it to be and I knew how I wanted it to feel when you looked at it. I talked to Rianne (pronounced "Ryan") by email and over the phone before setting up my appointment to discuss what I was looking for. I sent her a few photos over email that gave a sense of what I was looking for. When I arrived for my appointment, she had a mock-up ready for me to look at and suggest changes to in order to create the final design. We agreed on the design and she went to work. She had a nice moderate hand - the tattoo took well but I felt almost no pain - and a good chairside manor. The time seemed to fly by and she was finished in maybe 30 minutes with about a 7" x 2" piece. They're all professional and sanitary. You have to show ID and sign all the standard paperwork, "I know that tattooing and piercings involve needles and are not pain-free" "I know that tattooing is a permanent body modification" "I am 18 years old" etc. There are some binders up front showing photos of their artists' work, and a bunch of flash on the walls. read more

I came here recently to get my nose pierced. Tobias was working the front when I got there. It was a bit busy but he was really cool and nice despite that. When it came time for me to get my nose pierced, he helped me out by answering any questions that I had and he made me feel really comfortable and relaxed since I was a tad nervous about the procedure. It was my first time getting a facial piercing. The place is clean and Tobias sterilized and cleaned the room before I went in to get my piercing. He did an amazing job! I came to Comes A Time as a walk in for a nose piercing. The last time that I had a piercing done was when I was like two years old for my first earlobe piercing, so I was a bit nervous (as expected). I saw that they had pretty good reviews on Yelp and decided to give them a try. I also checked out their site and saw that the pierces were certified and everything seemed quite professional. I called first to make sure that they would be able to do it, and a really friendly woman said of course. The first thing that I noticed about the shop was the friendly and relaxed environment. Tobias was my piercer and he was great! He spent a a minute or two making sure that the black dot was placed on a good spot on my nose (I said that I wanted to change the stud to a hoop later), cleaned my nose with alcohol, and explained that I would feel some pressure. He told me to breathe in and breathe out. He put the needle through when I did. Was it painful? It all depends on your pain tolerance. It just felt like a hard pinch to me. For aftercare, he told me something pretty interesting: just to rinse the piercing with warm water twice a day. Leave it alone. I've looked at YouTube videos where people recommend saline wound washes, sea salt soaks, etc. It's only been one day since I got my nose pierced and there is no redness or anything like that, so we will see. Overall, great experience although a bit pricey (around $70 for both the piercing and stud), but I don't really know how other shops in the area compare. The wait time was a little long too, but since it was a drop in, I expected that. read more

I had come in a few years ago and had a bad experience with the previous piercers, but have had such a GREAT experience with Jean Paul the senior piercer. He pierced me last year and again a few weeks ago, every time he explains in detail and is always honest about the way jewelry will fit and placement of the piercing itself, he's never steered me wrong. It's also easy to reach out to him thru Instagram or just by calling the shop, the counter girl who answers the phone is knowledgeable and makes sure she's giving me correct information, sad I didn't see her last time I was in! Just had a tattoo done by Johnny Jr just a few hours ago and I cannot express how happy I am with it and my experience. This is my second tattoo from comes a time (the first one from jeff who did a spectacular job as well!) the staff are all so nice and welcoming. You don't feel like there's a million eyes watching you and judging you when you walk in. The tattoo wasn't an original idea but Johnny did an awesome job and I couldn't be happier. No idea about his 'technique' but it definitely felt less aggressive than the last couple of tattoos I've gotten. A light touch/hand is the term that comes to mind. I had some bad piercing experiences with two other places in town, so I stopped in to see what metals other than surgical steel they could offer. Jen was there when I entered and she was incredibly knowledgeable about the different metals and options. She swapped out my tragus ring for a titanium stud and then she pierced a double forward helix. I was super impressed by her. She is friendly and professional, and she definitely knows what she's talking about. I went back today and she pierced my nostril and conch, and she swapped out my existing rook horseshoe with a curved barbell. Up until this point my piercings have had an incredibly difficult time healing, and she helped me figure out that it was a metal sensitivity and that I was being too aggressive with cleaning. Following her instructions my seriously damaged tragus was completely healed within a week, and the fresh piercings are healing perfectly. I can't recommend Jen enough! read more

I got my 6 year old's ears pierced here about two weeks ago. I am incredibly happy with their services for several reasons. One, the level of cleanliness- they very strictly adhere to regulations. Two, the piercing itself- my daughter said it didn't even hurt. The piercing itself was also in great shape- no redness or anything, even the day of. Three, they ahve great customer service- JP took the time to explain the process to us, assist with the selection of earring, and answer questions about after-care.
