I went to Comes A Time Tattoo for the first time in August for a septum piercing, and let me tell you, I was beyond happy with the quality of work and the overall cleanliness of the store! I did my research before going, as I have had difficulty healing other piercings because of poorly trained piercers at other shops. I originally wanted an APP Certified Piercer, but as their website does not show any in the area, I started looking for shops with good reviews. When I came across Comes A Time Tattoo and read that Jen has attended an APP (Association of Professional Piercers) conference, I immediately started to compare reviews of the shop. I went in with a friend right as the store opened and filled out the paperwork. As a minor, my dad was there to sign for me, and then my friend and I went back to actually get it done. Of course, we started out by marking the septum and she was very knowledgeable and honest about where was my optimal spot to have it. She then went to cleaning all the equipment and talked to us not only about my piercing, but very polite, general questions like if we went to school together. She had me lie back and walked me through everything that would happen. She massaged the septum before to allow it to be less painful, and it was the most painless piercing I've had! The jewelry was inserted, and I was good to go! She took us back out to the front desk, I paid, and she discussed aftercare. She also gave me her work email address to ask any questions I might have (she replied very promptly). Overall, I had an excellent experience with this shop, and my piercing healed in much less than the expected time! I really do think this is mainly because of Jen's expertise, and I am 100% sure I will go back to have her do any future piercings I might get! read more

There are two halves to this business, one is tattooing, the other is piercing. I have experienced both sides and have individual critiques of both. On piercings: I have been pierced by both Jen and Tobias and they are both wonderful. Both piercings were relatively painless and they were both very professional; each healed wonderfully. I was also pierced in 2010 by somebody named Sean, which was also a very good experience. I don't believe he works there anymore though, so that is irrelevant. The piercers are why this dump is even getting two stars. On tattoos: I have visited Comes a Time many times in the past, and have never even seen anybody named Johnny around, so I don't know who he is. The only tattooer I have had contact with in this place was named Corey, and he's not even on the establishment's website, and he fucked up my tattoo. He had one job. It was a simple tattoo as well, just a name, but he botched up the "m" and it looks like an "n". I am stuck with this piece of shit for the rest of my life because of Corey's lack of tattooing skills. I hope he never tattoos again, because I would hate for this to happen to anybody else. If I could rate each separate department, piercing would definitely get five stars, and tattooing would definitely get none. read more

I did some research on piercing/tattoo parlors to get my double helix (cartilage) pierced a few months back in March. After school I finally decided to go to Comes a Time Tattoo to get it done. I was greeted by Jen at the counter and she was very professional and friendly throughout the whole experience. They had a wide selection of starter jewelry and though I took a long time deciding (since they were all so cute!), she never rushed me and was extremely patient which I appreciated. She then guided me into the room and marked where she thought would be a good placement and asked me for my opinion. The actual piercing wasn't painful at all, just slightly warm; and she finished both piercings in just 3-5minutes from start to finish (including marking the placement and piercing/cleaning). Jen gave me a guide for taking care of the piercings and explained it very thoroughly. The shop itself was small, but very clean and organized. My piercings are finally healed and I had no problem removing the jewelry myself (though you can get it changed for free at Comes a Time Tattoo). I didn't get any infection and am overall very pleased with my experience, I would definitely recommend getting your piercings done here! read more

I've been into body piercing for several years now, and nearly from the beginning I've had trouble finding a piercer that I feel really cares about me as a client rather than the money in my wallet. After visiting several shops throughout NOVA and Richmond, I finally found the one I feel comfortable at. The piercer at Comes A Time Tattoo, Sean Phillips, guided me through the piercing of my lip and septum with an air of experience and care. He answered all of my questions politely and fully, and not once made me feel as though he were being condescending (a trait common of many piercers I've met). The shop itself is the cleanest I think I've ever seen, and has a very relaxed atmosphere. The prices are reasonable, and Sean didn't try to sell me on expensive and relatively useless aftercare products, instead he advised me on a cheap and effective sea salt mixture that I could purchase at the grocery store. All in all, I was extremely impressed with the entire experience, and since I first got pierced there several months ago both of my piercings have healed fully and look great. I'll definitely be visiting the shop again this weekend for my industrial. read more

I have come here for both tattoos and piercings! For my tattoos I always go to Johnny Jr. and I have some incredibly beautiful tattoos to show for it!! He has tattood me three times. Two of the pieces he custom drew for me based on ideas that I had. He really listened to what I wanted and they turned out exactly like the image in my mind!! I trust him 100% with my tattoos. His line work is incredible! He may be a young tattoo artist but he is going to do great things in this industry!! He is my one and only tattoo artist! In January I came to the shop to get my septum pierced, Tobias pierced it for me! I was a little nervous that it would hurt (tattoos don't bother me at all but I'm deathly afraid of piercings) but I was shocked by how little it hurt! Tobias made me feel so relaxed, talked to me throughout the entire process, and kept my mind off the piercing. I barely felt it!! I also came back to him when the piercing had healed for him to put in a new septum ring for me! I will definitely be going back to him next time I want a piercing!! This shop is friendly, customer service driven and down right cool. I went to this shop because my nose piercing had come out and been out for a few days. I didn't have another piercing to replace it and was using an earring to make sure it wouldn't close. I knew I would need my hole stretched a bit. This was something I dreaded, because of a previous experience. As soon as I walked in the the guy at the front desk helped me. He asked a few questions to help me select the jewelry and a few minutes later the piercer came to get me. She is really good and I told her so. Not that I wasn't expecting her to be, but there are so many horror stories about bad tattoo artists and piercers, it's really important to find someone knowledgeable, who understands that everyone has a different pain tolerance, and who makes you feel comfortable. I've had my piercing for a few years and she explained to me that it could pinch or not it all, it really depends. I didn't feel a thing AND I love the new jewelry. You can really tell they love what they do there. If I was getting another piercing I'd definitely go there. read more

I HAD to write a review about this place, i absolutely LOVE it! i have gotten my microdermals done from here by a piercer who moved away (Sean) and he did a great job, but sadly one rejected (because they are in my lower back) and i came back and got that one removed by one of the current piercers Jen and then a few weeks after it healed i got my rejected microdermal repierced by Jen and she did a GREAT job! I also get ALL of my tattoos done here by Johnny Jr. he is AMAZING! I have gotten an amazing feather with birds done by him that he drew up for me on my arm and i get compliments on it DAILY! i also have a dreamcatcher tattoo on my thigh done by him that i completely let him sketch out and i draw and LOVED the outcome! i have 6 tattoos done by Johnny Jr. and i refuse to go elsewhere! If you want a clean, friendly, down to earth shop to go to this is your place! i Highly recommend them to EVERYONE! I have had two sessions now with Rodrigo. Long working toward a sleeve of Rose's. It's been a truely great experience. Rodrigo is well prepared and on time. He has rendered rose images in his off time so they are ready to go at no cost to me and we can just begin right away when I arrive. I've also enjoyed my time in the chair talking with him and hearing about his country he comes from. He is alert, sober and has been in the tattoo game for decades. the end result is something I'll be proud of my whole life. Great work and I was so surprised after my 2nd session when I got the bill and (after a medium/long session) it was right on course for what he quoted. He knows my situation, money is tight and it was a huge blessing as I have had experiences with other shops upping the price as we were working on pieces. Top of the line in customer service and satisfaction! My boyfriend and I came in for piercings by Jen, and I have to say, I've been impressed from the start! The shop is cleaner than imaginable, and everyone is extremely nice, helpful, and comforting. I was a bit apprehensive to get my piercing; however, Rianne held my hand and talked me through the entire process. Once my boyfriend's piercing healed, we found out that his ring was too small so we called the shop and Jen told us to come back in so she could check it. She ended up giving him a whole new ring. We have since ordered replacement barbells which we received today. I absolutely LOVE mine, but my boyfriend's barbell is too short, so we called the shop, and Jen/Sean are ordering us a new one. I have been so impressed with the help we've received throughout the entire process. I don't feel like a customer, but more like a lifetime client. Cannot say enough good things about this shop and the people who work there! It was my first tattoo in 8 years and I felt so comfortable. Fin was my tattoo artist and he not only made me feel comfortable, but answered every question I had about aftercare in depth. He made suggestions on the size and location of my tattoo, but reiterated this was MY tattoo and he would do exactly what I wanted. I gave him an photo that I wanted and he not only followed it, but made it TEN TIMES better than the inspiration photo I brought in. Also asked during the session if I was doing okay, because obviously tattoos are painful. I will never use another tattoo artist! The shop itself was so clean and all the other people who worked there were so nice and inviting and that was a huge thing for me because it can be pretty intimidating walking into tattoo shops. I came in last week and I am more than thrilled with my experience. I got my cartilage pierced by JP, and he is amazing!! Everything was fairly priced and he explained the process, sterilization of everything and made me feel really comfortable. The counter girl, who I believe is named Pepper (I'm sorry if it's not!) was so amazing as well, she asked me how my day was - and I felt like she took an interest in how my day was actually going, she explained prices and jewelry to me while JP was finishing with a client, she seemed very knowledgeable about the jewelry and she was super funny! She made me feel at ease and her sweet disposition made me feel not as nervous for the piercing. Her customer service is exactly why customer service is important!! I'll also say JP and the counter girl work great together, they have a lot of chemistry and they made me feel so happy with my experience. Wish I could give this place a 10/10!! I had been considering getting my nose pierced for the 3rd time. I was very nervous, Each time I had it done my skin hated it. it couldn't heal I was in so much pain. I had been searching and searching for a place, my friend has been to Comes A Time many times. I decided to call and make an appointment! It was the best choice I've made, Lindsey is amazing. She takes the time to get to know not only you as the customer, but gets to know your skin. She does very very good sterilization of everything she uses! She washed her hands AND puts gloves on! Her VIBE is so amazing. She's very caring and very good with the placement of the piercing. She is very honest what would and wouldn't look good depending on where you put a piercing and how big that area is! I have become amazing friends with her and the staff is phenomenal! I got my first tattoo with Flash and could not be happier with how it turned out. We communicated through email to which he responded back pretty quickly and we were able to set an appointment in a couple of days. I appreciated that even though what I wanted was small and finished pretty quickly, he was very respectful and explained things thoroughly. I am so happy to have gotten this done by him, I couldn't have gone anywhere else and been this happy with it. I still have other ideas for other tattoos and am looking forward to it. Absolutely great experience! I got a memorial tattoo for my loving puppy by the Flash. The tattoo he did for me was exactly how I imagined it to be. He made me feel safe and cared for and I was so sad on this day. Great job at explaining the process and walked me through everything and even gave me tattoo goo for aftercare. I loved his attitude and he was so fun to talk to it really brightened my day. I really appreciated that he offered me a hoodie because it was cold in there. My tattoo is beautiful and reminds me everyday of the 11 wonderful years I had with the most loving puppy ever. The lines are perfect and the shading is really smooth. I know Flash works on a lot of bigger stuff but I really appreciated that even for this smaller one (it only took about 45 minutes) that he paid attention to every detail. I'm 14, and had been thinking about getting my nose pierced for the longest time. Problem is, in Maryland, you have to be 16, even with an adult. So after a bit of searching, I came across Comes A Time, and decided to stop in. One step inside and everyone who works there was already rushing to help me and make me feel comfortable. The woman who I talked to took me through everything, from after-care to giving me a pain rating (which was incredibly accurate) and gave me a card with a number to call if I ever had questions. Now, step into the piercing room. I was terrified (I'm deathly afraid of needles.) Sean, the piercer, was FANTASTIC! The way he pierced me didn't hurt any more than a little pinch, and everything he did was completely sterile and I watched him throw out the needle afterwards. I recently went to comes a time tattoo to get my second tattoo a very important one for me, it was my horse. I was set up with Jay who was as professional as they get. My horse was on my butt so it was uncomfortable anyways with my butt out. He made me comfortable the shop was clean and everyone was so friendly including Rianne another tattoo artist there. My tattoo came out wonderful. I have told some many people about how awesome jay and the shop was. I would absoultey recommend him or anyone there. I am going back on saturday to get a big lilly on my hip and cannot wait. I am so happy with the service, price, friendly, how clean it was and every aspect of that shop. I just got a daith piercing here, and it was a great experience. I walked in yesterday to ask questions. It was crowded, but Jen was really nice and helpful. She went over pricing with me and showed me the different jewelry options in different price ranges without making me feel rushed. Plus, their jewelry selection is beautiful! I went back today, and Tobias did my piercing. He was so helpful and answered all my questions. He also walked me through exactly what he was going to do, which was really great since I struggle with anxiety :) The place was clean and comforting. Tobias was so calm and positive, and he did such a great job with the piercing that it was over before I knew it. It looks cute, and I'm really happy with it!
