He even exclaimed, that he was going to write it down this time. He came on Tuesday at 9:15am. Looked around and said that he had no clue how he was going to do what was asked of him. He said he was going to call the cable internet service. He waited almost an hour for them to come sitting in his van. When they arrived, they decided on the route they wanted to take and took 15 minutes to accomplish. They left shortly before 11. I was charged 2 hours of work. This is the same person who had a disregard for my own time. This is the company that was recommended by the cable company. I called Dean back explaining my frustrations. Because my home is less than 10 years old, the quote seemed unreasonable, so I obtained a second opinion from another licensed electrician. I was informed that the underground service conductor issue was the responsibility of Xcel Energy, not the homeowner. I contacted Xcel Energy directly, and they inspected the issue and completed the necessary work within two days at no cost to me. Based on these facts, I believe I was asked to pay more than $2,000 for work that either was unnecessary or was the responsibility of the utility company rather than the homeowner. In my opinion, this was a serious attempt to charge me for work that I did not need to pay for. I strongly recommend that anyone receiving a costly estimate for service entrance or meter-related electrical work obtain a second opinion and contact their utility company before authorizing repairs.
