I've been coming here for years and always had great experiences until today. Dr Simmons is fantastic and always has been but the assistants and other staff interacted with were unkind and rude and made me feel like an inconvenience the entire time I was there. I had to wait 45 min to be seen by anybody, and then told they "wouldn't have time" to do some of the things I had scheduled my appointment for. I was told my appointment was "moved off to the side". What's the point of having an appointment if it's just going to be disregarded. Thankfully Dr Simmons was kind and helpful and allowed me to get done what I needed but the assistant was extremely dismissive and rude. She didn't answer any of my questions and would walk away when I tried to ask questions. I think she said a total of two words to me in the 2.5 hours I was there. I asked if we would be completing the rest of my X-rays (like I had scheduled to do) and she literally said "no" with an attitude and walked away for 45 min. People are already nervous to go to the dentist, they shouldn't have to deal with rude assistants on top of that. read more

My initial appointment was Monday. The dentist told me my root canal had failed, gave me 6 painkillers and some antibiotics. Over the next two days I contacted the office THREE SEPARATE TIMES regarding the excruciating pain and, later, the horrible swelling and to ask for some kind of relief. Every time, I was told that it was NORMAL, there was nothing they could do, and that after 48 hours the antibiotic would make it all better. This morning (three days later) I stopped in to a different Dental office to try again to beg for some help. They confirmed that what I was experiencing was NOT AT ALL NORMAL, and immediately got me back for x-rays. The antibiotics I had been prescribed were not working, and the infection had spread throughout my face and around my eye. I had developed a huge additional abscess on my gums due to the uncontrolled infection, which the new dentist was able to drain and clean for me, much to my relief. She put me on a different antibiotic--875 mg of Augmentin--and said that, due to the proximity of the infection to my eye, I should take two immediately--even before leaving the pharmacy--to start getting this infection under control. No one at the Coal Mine office had said anything about warning signs to look out for. I called the office THREE TIMES after my appointment about the pain and swelling. No one ever asked any questions about the swelling, like where or how bad it was. No one ever asked any questions about the intense pain I was feeling, or the headache, or told me to watch out for a fever (which I did eventually develop). All I ever heard was that it was all normal. This was some of the worst pain I've experienced in my life. I wish I had listened to my husband (and everyone else that saw my face) and gotten medical attention sooner. read more

But Dr. Tyler Simmering has an awesome attitude, patient and thorough when answering my questions, and none of the numerous crowns and fillings have failed the past few years Most of the Hygienists are also very knowledgeable amd great to work with. The office has always been great at "getting in" and Dr. Kim's generous response for pain and antibiotic meds when Dr. Tyler was not in, and I had a repeating abscessed & infected sinus cavity over a tooth that will eventually need a root canal was much appreciated as the pain was VERY acute! Also they allowed me to work directly with the manufacturer of the crown I needed on 1 of my two front teeth for a perfect fit and perfect color match. I made a 730am appt with this place. I'm a new patient so I was asked to arrive at 715. I was told to call when I got there so they could bring the paperwork to me. I arrived at 710am. They don't answer the phone until 730am. I got to sit in my car and watch them all arrive to work. I get them to answer the phone at 730am, even though they all walked right past me going in and made eye contact with me. I got the paperwork filled it out and brought it back to the door so they could tell me they had to them put it in the computer. At 750 I said forget it and left. What could've prevented this? An apology. Online paperwork. Not telling people to arrive at 615 when you don't open until 730. Making your first appt of the day at 745 so people can arrive 15 minutes early and there will be someone there. read more

I love Dr Mowery and his staff. They are not pretentious stuffy people and they really do care about you. It has been years since I have seen this in a dentist and his staff. I highly recommend this location and Dr Mowery to anyone that is looking for a dentist. They get you in as soon as they can and they stay on top of things. i was terrified of dentists my entire life, but needed a cavity filled... so I booked an appointment here because other dentist were booking like 3-6 months out but this comfort dental got me in same week. I got a cleaning, x-rays, and then 2 cavities filled, and omg... it wasn't scary at all. The dentist and the assistants were so so sweet and fast, they made sure I was comfortable and not feeling any pain. This place is a joke. I had an emergency appointment because of the amount of pain I had in this tooth and instead of doing everything a dentist should do, filling,root canal.... something he told me it was probably a sinus infection. I told him don't you see the cavity on the X-ray so instead of the options to fix it and be able to keep the tooth he had one of the other dentists pull it. The root broke as it was being pulled after digging around got that out but the infection and pain is worse now than it was before I went in. Unfortunately for you and whoever has to work with Dr. Weekes,you will all have to just live with the review I wrote because no matter how angry you feel I was when I wrote it,it was both the truth and how he made me feel. Dr. Weekes also had a chance to rectify this issue with me the first day it happened and I called your office to complain twice. He called me back not being the least bit apologetic or sympathetic to my concerns,so I cursed at him,hung up and went and wrote my review. Then the next day guess who called me wanting to apologize all of a sudden,sounds to me like your Dr. Weekes has a problem with acting off of his anger first before thinking about consequences. Those are very bad qualities for someone as respectful as a "doctor" don't you think? And when he finally did apologize for treating like that and making me feel gross I told him that I would not write anymore bad reviews about him and that I would never set foot back in comfort dental again. I decided to come into this office after some very bad experiences with a fancy dental office in Cherry Creek. I decided to take a chance despite the reviews on this site, and am glad I did. I saw Dr. Kim, and while he was direct about the issues with my dental health after my first cleaning, he was not rude or mean. He was friendly, understanding, and explained my options in lay person terms that were very straight forward. The office staff was friendly and went out of their way to get estimates with every change in my decision making process regarding the type of fillings, and both the dental professionals, including Dr. Kim, and the office staff were understanding of the fact that I needed to spread the dental work out, and were willing to talk to me about what needed priority, and what could wait. No one in the office pushed extra procedures, or expensive tooth brushes that I dont really need. During the procedure, Dr. Kim and the hygienist were exceptionally cognizant of my pain level and went out of their way to minimize any pain. No one was rough with me, rude, or unpleasant in any way. While it was not full of the best, shiniest and sparkly equipment, I did not notice anything that was unclean or unhygienic. It was everything it needed to be to be an excellent dental office, without the pushiness of my previous dental office. read more

I had the Best dentist experience of my life here. I had severe pain from a back molar, the worst pain I've ever felt. Nothing touched it, not hydrocodone, ibuprofen or Tylenol, and it just kept getting worse. I had no idea how I was going to survive this amt of pain. This was on a Saturday when almost nobody is open. Deidre and Lindsay at front desk were compassionate and worked to get me in very quick. Dr. Bill Oldershaw and his assistant Kayla saw from the X-Ray that my tooth was abscessed, something my regular dentist and the UC Dental School clinic both missed. They were FANTASTIC on the extraction, and taught me a lot about teeth, X-Rays, etc. along the way. 48 hours later I have no pain! I am SO grateful for them! read more

After attempting to correct my teeth issues with several dentists over the years, I can finally say I found a good fit and have resolved the bulk of the problem. Dr Weekes was exactly what I have been looking for. I do not need a lecture or to be patronized when I go to the dentist. I am very intelligent, but have simply put things off and made some bad choices. He helped me prioritize the issues and worked with me to ensure I could maximize my dental benefits. He was also able to see me later in evening so that I wasn't continuously missing work. I would have given 5 stars, but the professionalism and competency of the hygienists and clerical staff can be spotty (pretty standard in the industry-unfortunately). What's a girl to do when her tooth cracks with no warning? Call up the Comfort Dental on Coal Mine. I called per my boss's recommendation and they scheduled me for a 5pm appt the same day so I wouldn't miss work. They got my new patient paperwork completed quickly and had me in, numbed and a temp crown out on within an hour and a half. The staff was very kind, gentle and thorough. Okay, I have been going to this Dental office for twenty years now, and I absolutely love the Dentists there. However, the last time I went the dental tech was extremely rude to me and copped an attitude the minute I walked into the back room. She apparently didn't like it that I was using Medicaid. As she looked in my mouth, through her floss down and told me she was not going to clean my teeth since I haven't been in for a couple of years. Well, okay, I kindly replied that I had been in just 9 months ago. She than stormed out of the room. She came back and took some X-rays, a series of 8. Than she left the room again and decided she was going to do more X-rays. She literally shoved these gigantic films in my mouth, they stabbed the roof of my mouth as I couldn't tolerate it, and she told me to bite down, excuse me, but that was an impossibility...she had stretched it so far open and it was quite painful. I took it out of my mouth, and she did it again...same result. I said is this necessary? She than exclaimed that it was because I was on Medicaid. She than tried again, sorry no opening my mouth any wider....she than shoved it in the back of my throat where as it stabbed my tonsils. It gagged me, I than took it out and she said we need to do this other wise your not getting approved for Medicaid. I got up and walked the hell out of there. WTH. Not going back, because of this rudeness and no call from the dentist either. Anyways. boo hiss. One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch. read more

I am VERY disapointed. I have had to have my crowns replaced by them several times as they cracked the SAME WEEK I got them. They are very rough with you (the assistants) and the doctor had to argue with on of them in front of me. They made me feel uncomfortable. When I called to tell my dentist about a pain on in my mouth after a root canal, it was because I was concerned that another crown in my mouth that they put in was failing, NOT because I wanted pills. HE thought I wanted pain pills and pulled my prescription drug history. When I got to the office for my next apointment he proceeded to ask why I had been on XANAX and that I may need to watch out because it can be addictive. HE HAS NO CLUE as to my medical history or why my family doctor has prescribed me xanax, I was embarassed and made to feel like a drug seeker. ONCE they fix their mistakes they made with my dental work I will NEVER go back! EVEN IF IT IS FREE. read more

I am very disappointed in this facility. I was in for my annual check up and cleaning and found it dirty, the office staff was talking about their boyfriend's, one who was in jail. They kept sending me a bill that was covered and paid by my insurance. My teeth hurt for weeks after, never had that happened to me for just a cleaning. Essentially, they are threatening to withhold medication unless you give them more money for other unrelated treatments. THIS IS UNETHICAL AND PROBABLY ILLEGAL. I have been going to this office for a couple years and had no major complaints. (The vendor they use(d) for mouth guards lost my mouth guard twice, but I eventually got it.) But today...I received a phone call with a very inappropriate message from their front office staff. I was told that they will not be able to refill a prescription for jaw pain, until I get new crowns put on a couple teeth. I was prescribed Flexeril (muscle relaxer) by the dentist about 4 months ago because I was having flaring TMJ problems. This is due to grinding my teeth. For several years they (dentists office in general) have been telling me that my denton has been worn down and that I would need crowns on my teeth eventually. We don't have the money for unnecessary procedures, I was going to wait until they cracked or the pain was unbearable. The denton wearing down is also due to grinding my teeth. Here is the BIG POINT. Getting crowns put on my teeth will not address the jaw pain. I will still grind and have jaw pain. The two treatments are unrelated. Luckily for me, I don't even need the muscle relaxer. My pain management team at Kaiser had written me a new prescription for a different medication a couple weeks ago. The only reason the office got the request for a refill was due to an auto-fill program at Target. When I told the front office staff that I did not need the prescription, but that I was not okay with the tactic of withholding medication to force me to spend more money, she got very snotty and told me that I could take my business elsewhere after I threatened to do so. Then she offered to put Dr. Oldershaw on the line. He immediately got on the phone and addressed me as though I was the problem. I tried to explain why I was upset, but he was talking over me and I was doing the same to him. Finally, he listened to me...and then I listened to him. He admitted that what was done was wrong, but then proceeded to try to justify it...over and over. He kept telling me that in order to get a medication refilled that a patient needs actively seeking treatment. I had seen him less 4 months prior and had already purchased a night guard through them. What more do they have to offer? Nothing...just unrelated services that they want to force me into. I am not okay with money grabbers in general, but in the medical field it is just unacceptable. I went in for a root canal on one tooth and left with 1 pulled tooth (that was infected) and 2 other teeth sanded down to nothing I can ever eat with. I only ok'd the pulled tooth. I spent the whole visit trying to keep my blood pressure down not realizing more then just a pulled tooth happened. I had a temp cap on and it fell off and that's when I seen the filed down teeth and my stomach fell and I cried. Be careful! read more

They are always professional, knowledgeable, and kind. They are always very thorough with their exams and they always take a lot of time to talk to me about what's going on, what they want to do and why. I saw Dr. Tyler just the other day about my TMJ that my ENT diagnosed me with. He probably spent 20 minutes just talking to me about the causes and treatment plan with bite wings, making casts of my teeth for the night guard, small fillings that needed to be filled, etc. and everybody there is always great! They make sure I never experience any pain and they always make sure my visits are very pleasant and something I actually look forward to. They always get me an appointment right away. I wasn't sure about this place after some of the other reviews I read, but i was in some real pain, and the whole place seemed to come together to help me out. The tech who helped me was so nice, and listened to all my symptoms, without blowing me off as just another tooth ache. The Dr. was very professional but still personable. My twin sister recently paid $10,000 for dental work that probably would have been unnecessary or considerably cheaper had she had a competent dentist. I realized how fortunate I am to have a dentist I trust and that compelled me to write this review of Dr. Obershaw and Comfort Dental. In 2010 I had an emergency tooth situation, called the Coal Mine location, and they saw me immediately, even though I wasn't a patient of theirs. Dr. Obershaw has been my dentist ever since. I had another emergency a few years later and that was treated with the same sense of urgency as the first occurrence. My teeth are in great shape today, thanks to Dr. O. He always takes the time to educate me on the "why" and "how" of my dental hygiene so I get the best results. When potential issues with my teeth surface, he gives me all the facts I need to make an informed decision. AND...I have their Gold Plan which gives me substantial savings on their services. So...."Dr. O is the man"!! I only wish my twin sister had been seeing him for her dental care. She'd be a little richer....and A LOT happier! read more

I've been going to an excellent and highly rated dentist for the last five years in NM routinely and moved here recently after getting laid off from my job. Have Medicaid for insurance and went to this place for my on time dental cleaning as I last had little over six months ago. Never, ever heard my gums were diseased. First impression I have is they took my disabled daughter and I back for xrays and I felt like we were being herded like cattle. No chair side manners whatsoever! Rude, rude, rude! Dentist checked my gums and said they looked fine overall and then near the end changed his mind and said I had peridontal disease and they would submit for approval and then herded back out again. In the last five years my other dental office never ever mentioned gum disease!!!! So they submitted to Medicaid and that dentist confirmed I have no gum disease problems necessitating deep cleaning. Office called back and said I was denied and tried to push me into paying them 500.00 for cleaning. I declined. Never had the courtesy of the dentist following up with my xrays and completing the assessment which is odd considering they are supposed to be professionals. Called in today asking if I could simply come in for my regular cleaning and be told results of xrays. The receptionist (not dentist or dental tech) told they won't see me unless I do the expensive deep cleaning first!!!!! I honestly think this office is out to fleece Medicaid and needs to be investigated. I'm calling Medicaid today and reporting this odd way to do business. read more

The moment I walked through their door, I knew I would be taken care of. Warm, inviting and very professional. I had called as a referral from a friend (as a new patient) with a broken filling and they got me in right away! When I was seated in the waiting room, I witnessed the office staff having to deal with a very difficult client. They were so very professional about it. Way to go ladies! The dentistry and chair side manner are also outstanding! Dr. Weekes and his assistant are really an amazing team. Prior to Dr. Weekes seeing me, I could hear him comfort an elderly woman who was clearly fearful with getting dental work done. Had that been my grandmother or mother, I would have been so very grateful for her treatment. After recently moving to Colorado, my son and I came to Comfort Dental on Coalmine for a cleaning and exam. I was very disappointed in the overall quality of care we received. The cleaning was less than adequate. My son who wears braces, was treated with a painted on fluoride treatment which was applied by the hygeintist. She failed to get his back teeth. I was not notified that he could only eat soft foods for 24 hours to allow the treatment to harden. In my 46 years of receiving dentistry, I have only had a fluoride foam or rinse application applied which only limits patients to no food or drinks for one after treatment. A child can not be expected to remember these things. The hygentist did not clean in between his teeth and the cleaning was less than 10 minutes for each of us. We have our teeth cleaned regularly but have never been out of the chair that quickly. My cleaning was not any better. A different hygentist cleaned my teeth and did not apply suction while cleaning so I was forced to swallow the residue because it was running down the back of my throat. When she applied the water rinse it was not enough, leaving my teeth very gritty. When I asked for a better rinse she said, "after she flossed them". She then did not apply a fluoride treatment to my teeth. I will not be returning to this practice in the future. read more

My first visit to this dentist was this past winter, when I got my teeth checked. The appointment was odd because it seemed to all happen so fast and was a bit different (not necessarily bad) from cleanings and check ups I have had in the past, (they didn't scrape my teeth, they polished before cleaning) but there were no immediate warning flags. I hadn't been to a dentist in about a year at this point. I still brushed and used mouthwash regularly, though wasn't flossing every day as I have in the past-though still flossed periodically each week. The dentist said that I had some cavities and indicated 3 locations in my mouth. I went back to have the cavities filled earlier this month and realized that the dentist determined I actually needed 8 fillings. Now I have NEVER had that many cavities at one time before, and hadn't had any cavities from 2009-2014 (seeing a different dentist). I went ahead and had him do 6 of the cavities, before i couldn't handle the pain anymore. After having the work done, I was speaking with others and researching online and found out that some dentists will fill anything and everything, even soft spots or "micro-cavities". ( "Microcavities" are not a new phenomenon. In fact, they are essentially a very early stage of the tooth decay process that may or may not develop into a full-blown cavity. Today's "microcavities" are what dentists have for decades referred to as incipient caries, or to put it more simply, "surface cavities". http://www.michaelsinkindds.com/blog/microcavities-to-fill-or-not-to-fill/) I had a second appointment with the dentist to fill the remaining 2 cavities the other night. My teeth/jaw from the first job still hurt immensely after 2 weeks and are very sensitive to eating hard foods like chips. I mean hurt so badly that it sent a chill down my whole body if I chewed in the wrong spot and sometimes kept me awake, like it did the night before my 2nd visit and I had to take aspirin to get some sleep ( i very very very rarely take pain medication). The pain has been decreasing slowly, but I have never experienced this kind of prolonged pain from fillings before, and with the info I had learned about some dentists filling surface cavities, I decided that I wanted to consult with the dentist and ensure that he was filling full-blown/ must be filled cavities, because I would rather monitor surface cavities and only have invasive dental work when absolutely necessary. When I brought my concerns up with the dentist, he became very defensive. Please note that I was NOT rude, nor accusatory. I was simply seeking reassurances that the work was necessary in his professional opinion and that we were on the same page with the type of care that I wished to receive. So I had told him of my concern with suddenly having so many cavities (which can indicate that microcavities are being filled) and asked him if the fillings that he was going to fill were in fact full blown cavities, or if they could be monitored and halted with fluoride rinses, etc. He said that he had never heard of the term "microcavity" (though this is a very well known and often used term). He said that I was accusing him of just filling non-cavities and then refused to fill the last 2 cavities. He told me if I was so concerned that I should seek a 2nd opinion, and that I was more than welcome to just let the cavities go and that they would continue to grow and just be bigger cavities (this was said rather rudely). He was more concerned with wanting me to see things from his view point- how dare I question him, his decision and his integrity- rather than helping me to better understand how he determines the need for fillings and providing me with proof of his integrity. He seemed to think that simply because I have a lot of other cavities (mostly from my childhood) that I must just have bad/pron to cavity teeth. Again, haven't had a cavity in years, then suddenly have 8! He stated that he believes that there are no micro-cavities, that a cavity is a cavity and he will fill it. I have a right as a patient to advocate for myself and to understand the treatment that I am receiving. I have questioned doctors, dentists, dermatologist before and have NEVER had one become so defensive. My family has been going to Dr. Oldershaw for years. My two older children (now teenagers) have had about a zillion pictures on the "cavity free" wall they have hanging at the front...(The kids get their polaroids taken and put up on the wall every visit if they are cavity free..It's super cute to see the same faces on the same wall over the years..:) It actually made my kids watch their brushing even more as they would say they wanted to to make sure they got 'on the wall". (Sweet way to incentivize little ones to keep their teeth clean!! ) Over the years (especially after one particular nasty hockey incident, which Dr. Oldershaw responded to on a weekend, and came from where his family lives in Castle Pines to treat my son), I have come to feel as if I would be at a total loss if he ever retired. (He is a young looking guy but given his stories about his kids over the years...who are now grown with their own kids...) he has got to be somewhere in his 60's...).. This practice has changed everything I knew growing up about "going to the dentist"... "Dr. O" has been firm but gentle over the years with my children, always being straight forward, (without fear mongering) while chastising them gently, but matter--factly when he has seen they were less than stellar about their tooth care... He has also always been efficient, but not overly "salesy", which I hate... (Case in point: I happened to chip a tooth during a bad ski accident one year, when we were visiting family back east... I went to my brother-in-law's dentist while there, and the guy recommended doing major cosmetic repairs that would have cost thousands...I declined and made an appointment with Dr. Oldershaw the second I returned to Colorado and he told me there hadn't been nerve damage and did some minor shaving of the tooth from what i recall...and it looked as if nothing had ever happened.. He saved me a boatload!! (Gave me a big realization as to what less moral dentist could have cost me over the years having raised two rough-housing boys with myriad teeth issues:). I could not be happier with the care I have received while raising my family with Dr. Oldershaw as our dentist. It should be noted that he has pretty much had th e same main assistant (Jackie) working there for the entire time we have known him as well. I have always thought that 's the sign of a good person and employer...I cannot name one other place of business i come into contact with where the same person has been working there for twenty years!! If you are looking for a good, honest, kind dentist who wont try to scam you into doing unnecessary work and who charms the pants (err..tartar:)) off your kids...he is definitely the guy to go to! read more
