There is a massive selection of things to eat. The scrambled eggs were real scrambled eggs, not the industrial ones of motel buffets. One day, they had these triangular potato cake things that were many steps above your average hash browns. You can throw together a breakfast burrito. There is cheese, salsa and tortillas on hand. You don't have to make your own waffles. They are premade and cut into small pieces. There's a lot more to explore. Don't miss out on the breakfast!

My GF and I were greated by staff and offered complementary coffee. Made small talk with the staff and SISSY asked if we had ever visited their ROOF TOP BAR. We had not and SISSY took us on a tour to the rooftop. The view from rooftop bar was beautiful and we will definitely return when the weather warms up. First the positives: The lobby and coffee shop are decorated in a fun, quirky way which creates a casual and relaxing environment. I've heard the decor described as being from a Wes Anderson movie. (I think that is an accurate description.) We would have our morning coffee over there relaxing on the comfy couches/chairs and had a surprisingly good breakfast burrito at the coffee shop. Location was good. Close to downtown, easy 10 minute walk to most things, and it was close to the North Oconee River Greenway walking trail on the other side of the river. Our room (on the second floor) was comfortable, clean, well appointed and quiet. The quietness may be due to the fact that we were possibly one of only two or three customers in the hotel those nights. Nonetheless, we slept well and have no complaints about the room. Now for some minor negatives: Staff, which comprised mostly college students, were less than friendly or attentive. At check-in, important information was not disclosed, like the optional housekeeping service, or that the restaurant/bar was not open (at all) during our stay. The $12 per day parking fee was excessive in my opinion. We were the only car in this lot - I feel like they could've waived the parking fee. And the $75 dog fee was a bit steep - but the room rate was low, so I guess it balanced out. We had to call for towels (and to replace a broken soap dispenser) repeatedly before someone finally showed up around 7 pm - I think they didn't have anyone working.... Anyhow - would I stay at this hotel again? Yes. My girlfriend probably wouldn't however. I think had it been warmer and had the Foundry been open, we probably would have had a better experience there. But, it is significantly cheaper that other hotels I looked at, and, frankly, you have to take that into consideration.

The ceiling fan was able to circulate at a high level and pretty quietly. The property itself was also pretty quiet. I am sure football home games would be a different vibe. The shower needed some work done to it, and the bathroom floor doesn't appear to have been cleaned. The beds were comfy. There isn't enough light in the room. More lighting should be added. Breakfast was not the best. They did have turkey sausage, which was great for non pork eaters. It was the same items every day and not many choices. Biscuits, sausage, eggs, cereal, and muffins were some of the items. The elevators kept getting stuck on the floors, and you had to push the floor button to make the doors open. It even skipped floors that were chosen a few times. The hotel was not bad, not amazing, but you get what you pay for.

I didn't complain about the first stained towel because I assumed it was an isolated laundering issue. Finding additional stains, especially on the bedding, changed that. At around $250/night, I expect a much higher standard of cleanliness. AMENITIES/SERVICE: The room's lights require inserting your key card into a wall slot, which wasn't explained at check-in. I figured it out, but others in my group struggled. There are no guest ice machines. At check-in I was specifically told ice could be brought to my room. I preferred to get it myself and went downstairs shortly afterward, only to be told they had NO ICE. Why offer to deliver something that isn't available? We were told the restaurant opened for breakfast around 7-8 a.m., yet I never saw it open for breakfast when I looked during my stay. Indoor common seating is limited, and the elevator is surprisingly slow for a three-story hotel. After discovering the in-room water was $5, I also wasn't confident about what else was complimentary versus chargeable. The Wi-Fi was terrible and inconsistent. It repeatedly disconnected and kicked me off throughout my stay. This wasn't an issue with only my device; other people in my group experienced the same problem. FOOD: The restaurant was a major disappointment. My half-chicken dish was pictured with crispy-looking skin and plenty of peppers. Mine arrived only warm--not hot--with soggy skin, very few peppers, and little flavor. The grilled artichokes were mushy. I intentionally didn't send it back. I wanted to experience what the restaurant normally serves, not coach the kitchen through remaking my meal. Someone prepared, plated, inspected, and decided that dish was acceptable to serve. Food can look disappointing and still taste great, so I tried it anyway. Unfortunately, it didn't. For the prices charged, the food did not deliver. PARKING: Valet was $25; otherwise you park elsewhere around the property and walk. The parking arrangement and cost should be clearer before arrival. DEPOSIT/ROOM ISSUES: Another party in my group and I booked king rooms together through the same portal, on the same multi-room reservation, for the same number of nights. Their paperwork showed a king, yet they were given a double queen. I was told the deposit was $150 and had $150 authorized. The other party was told $150 PER NIGHT/PER ACCOMMODATION and had $450 authorized for the exact same three-night stay. I didn't discover this until the following day and called the hotel for clarification. I was then told the standard is $150 per night/per accommodation. However, Rivet House's own website only states that a "$150 deposit is due at check-in." It does not clearly disclose there that this means $150 PER NIGHT. That's a substantial difference--$150 versus $450 for a three-night stay. Guests shouldn't have to search Expedia, TripAdvisor, or other third-party sites to find material information about the hotel's own deposit policy. It should be clearly stated on the hotel's website and consistently explained by staff. If $150/night is the standard, it also raises the obvious question of why two guests staying the same number of nights had completely different amounts authorized. TRAIN/NOISE: The hotel sits immediately beside active railroad tracks. This personally didn't bother me; the train functioned as white noise. It did bother others in my group. Rooms provide earplugs and a sound machine, although I found the sound machine louder than the train even on its lowest setting. The property itself is beautiful, smells wonderful, and the bed, pillows, and bedding were extremely comfortable. The Molton Brown toiletries smelled great, although I found them drying. But aesthetics and a comfortable bed aren't enough to justify the price when basic cleanliness, food, Wi-Fi, amenities, communication, and transparency fall short. I've stayed at full-service hotels for less money with reliable breakfast, restaurants, bars, pools, gyms, ice machines, lobby seating, clean rooms, reliable Wi-Fi, and clearer amenities. Rivet House is beautiful and photographs well, but based on my experience, the overall hospitality and execution did not match the premium presentation or price. I would not stay again.

Also, I didn't ask for a follow up message from Rivet House, but still - Most managers who care would respond to the survey I sent regardless. Not what you would expect from the same company that operates Old Edwards Inn.
