If you like a hotel that reeks of marijuana throughout the entire hotel and permeate your room then this is the perfect place for you. It's a non smoking hotel but that apparently does not apply the same. Also the "suites" are not actual suites. Hotel is fine and room is good. I stayed in the second floor on 2/4/2025 and it smelled . I could not put my finger on the smell. Asked a guy on elevator if it smells to him. Keep in mind that I don't have a good sense of smell. He agreed and started guessing and said it smells like Indian Food. So I am guessing it was curry and it did overtake the entire 2nd floor . I stay at hotels 2 to 4 nights a week. I will not be back to this halls of smells. I am going g to SpringHill suites down the road next time I am here. read more

The room was spacious, bed extremely comfortable, clean, and modern. The grounds are clean, well lit, and secure. The lobby is well kept and nicely appointed. The staff? The staff is stellar! Brittany was exceptionally helpful with last minute room schedule updates and has a charming personality (she'll be a manager someday if she chooses the profession). Mr. Hulga was helpful and friendly at check in. If you can, grub at: JERRY'S CAFE - Delicious!!!! This place is located off US-70 in Thatcher. There was not anything really wrong with the place. The problem is we got a 2 queen bed suite. "Suite" being the key word. When I see the word "suite," I expect two rooms a bedroom and living room separated by a door. The reason to get a suite is that so that not everyone has to go to sleep at the same time. This room did have 2 queen beds and a sofa, but they were all next to each other. So it was not really a "suite" just a slightly larger than normal hotel room. For the price paid it was expensive especially considering the location. The fitness room was very small with two treadmills and a rowing machine. There was a multi-exercise machine but it was broken. The only weight was a single 35 lb kettle bell. They do have an indoor pool which would be good for kids in the winter. The breakfast was ok. They had eggs, potatoes, bacor or sausage, and waffles. They were, however, a little slow to refill when options such as eggs, bagels, fruits, gravy were used up. Even though it states they have breakfast until 9:30 if anything was gone at 9am it was not going to be refilled. Options are limited in the area so if staying here I would just get the cheaper regular room rather than the "suite." read more

Problems with this hotel: 1. Elevator broken and our room is on the second floor. 2. Gave us the wrong room and room key. 3. TV remote was broken so we could only watch Mtv. 4. Every single time we left our room the key would stop working and we would have to go down stairs to get it reset. Positive: 1.Pretty good breakfast. 2. One of the newest hotels in Safford/Thatcher. I found everything to be clean and in good order. The staff was friendly on check in and out. They have a business center, nice work out room and indoor pool. The breakfast room is large with several tables and is in line with most of its competitors who offer more than just continental breakfast. The only negative I have is the rooms have shutters instead of black out curtains and the light comes through. Oh and those dry strange hash browns in the breakfast have to go. read more

Stayed here with my father and 2 pups on a road trip. It was a nice getaway from the road, I enjoyed it. I found the hotel room very refreshing and sizable. Everything was clean and this hotel is relatively new. The staff were very nice and personable on both morning and evening shifts. Arrived about 8pm on a Friday. Checkin was easy; lady at the front desk was very friendly. All the rooms are indoors, which is nice for safety. Room was nice. Everything was clean. Beds comfy, pillows a bit too poofy but still fine. I'm a weird one that likes flat pillows. Slept fine, but you can hear all the other guests coming and going and walking around but that's whatever. Breakfast was really good, they had a great assortment of food. Eggs, potatoes, sausage, cereal, pastries, fruit, waffles, etc. lots of food. Overall, a nice stay. read more

This place is decent and comfortable. Not overly luxurious by any means and a bit pricey considering the area, but overall it wasn't a bad deal. Was in town with several family members for a funeral and we were all treated very well. Check in was a breeze, the desk clerk very nice. At one point on the evening we checked in, a man came screaming out of the lobby mens room that there was a large snake in there. Turns out the desk clerk was the only hotel employee on premises and she could do nothing, making the man very irate. She had to call an off-duty maintenance man and wait for him to arrive to take care of the snake. I personally think this is very bad practice for a hotel that large to literally leave 1 employee by themselves on duty, especially at night. Not only dangerous for her but possibly for the guests as well. Granted, Thatcher is a quiet and probably nearly crime-free Mormon town but it's still poor judgement on the hotel manager's part in my humble opinion. At least keep an onsite security guard or handyman. read more

I stayed here the evening of Saturday July 19, 2014. When I checked in I asked if I could pay to upgrade to a suite and the clerk told me that because I booked through Expedia that upgrading is NOT possible. I told the clerk that I do it all the time and again she said no. By the way, it wasn't so much that she said no, it was how. She acted like doing her job was a chore and that my questioning her response was an insult. Well things got worse. I forgot some of my clothes in the closet. I was on my way home, hours away, when I called the hotel to see if they had found my clothes. The manager said, "Sir, we don't have anything in our lost and found so we don't have it." When I asked if he would check the room he said, "I trust my staff and there is no need to check." I responded with, "Well, I'm going to call the police because if its been taken then that's theft." When I said that he said he said he'd check the room and after a long wait, guess what, they found my clothes. Again, the manager had a really bad attitude that is discouraging enough that not only will I never stay there, I'm telling everyone I know that comes close to NOT stay there. read more

My mother stayed here for two nights and was really excited to swim in the indoor pool with her grandchildren. But the hot tub was a disgusting shade of green, and smelled like a dead rat. We found a dollar bill in the water of the hot tub. There was vomit outside the pool area in the patio, and the pool itself was freezing. We told the person at the front desk, who was very nice, and promised my mother a discount, however, upon checking out, a different person only offered her $10 off. My husband and I checked into the Comfort Inn and Suits on a Saturday night and my husband explained to the woman at the desk that he would be leaving at 4am to go to work and my son and I would be staying for breakfast and she said that was okay. Never infomring us that if my name was not on the room I would not be allowed back in. After I got done eating I went up to my room and found that my key was not working. I went to the front desk and asked her to reactivate my key and she asked me for my ID, I told her my purse and ID were locked in the room but upon opening it I would show her. She said without proper ID I could not get in. Then she realized it was in my husbands name and refused to let me in at all without him coming from work to show his ID. My phone was dead and she refused to let me use the offiec phones to call my husband. It got so bad, that I called the cops! Here is a letter I wrote to the owner in regards to the steps I took to resolve is! I was degraded and humiliated I've never experienced such poor customer service in my life!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Tammy Mayhew is the manager and owner and she is unreasonable. My son sat in the lobby for over an hour in a wet diaper without a bottle and they offered no support or solutions!!!! Hi Tammy, It was not the "privacy policy" we had an issue with, except for the fact that we were not informed of this policy and there are no signs for your guests to read informing of this policy. For future guests that you may have that needs to be addressed. A sign needs to be present and visible!! The issue we had was the complete lack of professionalism and judgment. It was the fact that as a paying guest I was, 1. Refused access to the phones to call my husband. (Is this a policy? Are guests not allowed to use the office phones in case of an emergency or any case at all??) 2. We offered to text a photo of his ID and she refused! 3. We offered to Facetime and give his permission and she refused. 4. My husband himself called the front desk and asked your employee to lease allow me access. 5. I asked her to call the woman who checked us in the night before to confirm my husband had told her my son and I would be eating breakfast and she refused. 6. I asked her to in the VERY LEAST retrieve a diaper and a bottle for my child and she REFUSED. 7. I asked to speak with a manager and she told me the manager did not want to speak with me and informed me she was in charge. 8. I called the police and asked if he could escortme to get my things and she refused. 9. I asked if he could go up alone and collect my thing or the babies things and she refused. We offered multiple solutions that did not require my husband to leave his work and lose pay in order to resolve this and your employee was cold, rude and did not accomodate us as "your paying guests" in any way!! Her personal lack of judgment and problem solving skills were alarming. The problem is that because of her lack of judgement my son sat in his urine for over an hour crying. The problem was the degrading way she spoke to me. The problem was that as a human being I was locked out of my room where my keys, my phone charger, my wallet, my childs NECCESITIES were!! My child was uncomfortable and my child was refused access to his NEEDS because of the incompetence of your employee. Now, the result of your employees judgment left my son with his FIRST EVER diaper rash. The problem is there were many other options and routes that your employee whom you chose to represent you and your business could have and should have taken to avoid the outcome. After speaking with you I cannot belive that you feel a 50% refund is the solution. I have never experienced such poor customer service in my life!! The complete disregard for a childs basic needs and the continuous accusations and degrading remarks I personally endured from you staff. I was humiliated in the lobby of your business. I am thankful for other guests coming forward to help me which should embarass you as the owner of this property!! That another guest had to come forward and assist me and defend me because your employee was ready to leave me there stranded with my child and offered NO SOLUTION!!! She would not even allow me to use the phone to call my husband. Had it not been for the guest and her compassion, what would have happened??? I would have had to sit there with my son in a wet diaper unable to feed or provide for him until my husband got off of work and wondered where I was?? Again, 50% is not an adequate solution. BEWARE: Avoid all Choice Hotels in this town! See my review for the "Quality" Inn to get a small piece of the picture of who you're dealing with. I stayed here after my experience there, not knowing that the Terrible Tammy manager is not only the manager at this Comfort Inn as well but the owner! The employee that checked me in was one of the few decent ones from the other hotel as well. This employee let me know that the issues I had with Tammy were not just me, and that many customers and employees have similar experiences all the time. I booked several rooms here not knowing it was the same people. The Marriott was sold out or we'd have stayed there and I didn't know about the Best Western being renovated till after the fact or that would have been our second option. This hotel is way too new to be as bad as it is. I booked a suite which was not worth the extra money. The whole floor had a stench not unlike their other hotel. I walked in the room and realized that the little refrigerators stay off and were most likely the cause of the smell, because they are nasty. I am very familiar with this little town and I remember when this hotel was built. It was around the same time as the Marriott (which is now renovated). Carpets are stained, towels are like paper and it's just not up to par with most other Choice hotels I usually deal with. As a hotel management company, I would encourage Choice Hotels to investigate Tammy Mayhew and her "(mis)management" of these establishments. Send in a secret shopper and throw even the slightest problem at her to see how she handles it. I started out my own career in the hotel industry for a couple of the big names, I know if they were being ran this sub-standardly we would have had the name revoked. For reference in the Safford/Thatcher area: Best Hotel: SpringHill Suites by Marriott, worth it. Just renovated and nice for work or family. Best on a Budget, Best Western Desert Inn, nice rooms for the money. Clean! read more

Wow, fair price and brand new everything... This hotel has a Workout room, smaller indoor pool and jacuzzi. Rooms have flat screens, two phones, office desk and wifi that works well!!! Clean bathrooms and very comfy beds... Staff very nice and here is the bonus.... Air conditioning works very very well. We slept at 60 degrees last night.. I know a bit cold and the old ball n chain not too happy but hey, we live in az... The breakfast buffet was good as well... Eggs,sausage,cereal,waffles,toast and just about anything you need...
