I spent the extra $10 a night for a jacuzzi in my room. The room was $129/night. The bed was comfy and I slept well. There was a mini fridge and microwave oven in my room. Parking was free as is WIFI (it's fast). There was a complimentary continental breakfast with hot options (I grab some yogurt and an apple to go in the mornings). There is a salt water pool but I didn't use it. There is no restaurant in the hotel and no options within walking distance. Last evening there was a reception ... free appies and drinks from 6pm to 8pm. It happens Monday to Thursday evenings. I checked it out. They set out bottles of wine, beer and pop along with veggies, chicken wings and pepperoni pizza (which I'm assuming they ordered from a nearby pizza place) and you helped yourself. I had enough wings and pizza that I didn't need to have supper (I'd had a big lunch). I liked the hotel, my room and the friendliness of the staff but I found it was a bit too isolated.

The day of coordinator snapped at guests saying that she already told us to move to our seats once already. After ceremony it was not clear where cocktails hour would take place. Turns out that it was in the same room as reception so most guests went straight to their seats (no mingling.) The cocktails were great - bartender was fast and friendly. The DJ from the venue package declared that he does not make announcements of any kind as well as his set list was very boring and the music did not flow from song to song to keep the energy up on the dance floor. Dinner salad was sporadically dressed- some people our table got dressing while others did not. Food tasted fine - the cheesecake was served scooped like ice cream which is a different presentation from the couple's tasting. The day of coordinator questioned the cold sparks which were pre-approved (lack of communication with prior contacts.) After clarification, the coordinator permitted the cold sparks. Finally the late night buffet served sliders and fries with no condiments (no ketchup at all!!) The venue specializes in weddings and in my opinionl they are doing the bare minimum.

It was very quiet - could not even tell anyone else was staying there - yet found the place was full when we went down to breakfast. Extremely clean. Front desk was helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was very good with quite a variety. Walking distance to a few good restaurants. Away from the hustle and bustle of Hamilton - but easy proximity.

My boyfriend and I really appreciate that kind of thing and try to find the kitschiest/most vintage motels and this may have been the best one yet. Cannot recommend this place enough!

First asking why it's ok to turn away, or even worse take advantage of a young family with young kids in a moment of vulnerability and tiredness. After 5 min of heated conversation and video from it. He finally "called his boss" but would NOT let me have the phone. He was never on a call as far as I'm concerned. The next morning I went in the bathroom to get a towel and discovered one of the hand towels was dirty. It looked like it had been used as a rag to rub grease off or something and then was washed. The face cloth was also a dull, greyish color. Period. We then noticed that the comforter had some marks on it, what appeared to be dried blood. And the pillowcase was actually full of stains. The breakfast that was included was a bit of a joke, called pancakes and rubbery disgusting looking eggs. I don't think we will be staying at this establishment ever again. First

I arrived around 2:30 in the afternoon and they said my room wasn't ready yet and to try back at 3 PM. No worries. I was able to hang out for a few minutes waiting and went back and my room was ready. I was able to bring up my things and get settled. The 3rd floor of the wing is under renovations but that never was an issue. I went to go turn on the TV and the remote didn't work. Not a huge deal since I wouldn't be in the room long but I mentioned it to the front desk and they said they would find a replacement but it didn't happen until the next day when we found a maintenance worker. Which is fine because the channels weren't working at all on the tv the next morning anyways. The breakfast was better in the past. They replaced all the real plates with paper and the silverware is all plastic now. They even downsized the offerings for food and it's still a good breakfast but it the very basics. Overall, this is an okay experience. It is in a good location that is easy to navigate to but the amenities seem to be dwindling here. Next year when I come up to Brantford, I'll definitely debate staying here or somewhere else.

We learned that our fireplace was not functional when we tried to turn it on, and Joanne Brooks, General Manager must be fully aware by now that the rooms in the East wing have non‑functioning fireplaces and the rooms are in poor, worn, dirty condition. The fireplaces continue to be listed as an amenity on their website in the East wing, which is misleading to customers and was not indicated at time of booking which is what was claimed we were told at reception. We doubt this is the first complaint, and it appears the fireplace photo for these rooms are actually from the Gretzky wing. We were provided an adjusted the rate and bonus points for the non‑functioning fireplace. Besides the one on the door, we did not see one NO SMOKING sign in the room next to the detectors as is the norm in other hotels in Canada. This would contribute to the evidence of smoking of cigarettes and marijuana observed from the hallways at various times of day. There are only heat detectors wired to the alarm system. The battery operated smoke/CO detectors can easily be pulled from the wall allowing smoking to go undetected. This is a loophole in Ontario law according to the Brantford Fire Department. We have stayed in the past at the other three major chains in Brantford, and all of these hotels are much newer and cleaner. We have never complained about these hotels as their standards appear higher despite being a budget offering. I can say at least the bathroom is clean though the door makes it hard to get in and out of the room. The pool area had a Grade B rating for the spa earlier that week when inspected by the Grand Erie health department. Everyone raves about the Gretzky wing, and there is no way we would ever stay in the East wing again unless it is fully renovated.

How nice is that?! There are 24 themed rooms and we were Stan Lee room ... all things Stan Lee! The room was a good size as was the bathroom. There was a coffee maker but alas, no mini fridge (I always travel with water). It would have been nice to have "normal" TV channels ... instead they were themed like the That Girl channel, Beverly Hillbillies channel, Biggest Loser channel, etc. Parking, WIFI and a continental breakfast were complementary.

Check-in was quick and simple, staff friendly and very helpful. The room was decent, appreciate the mini-kitchenette, dining area, living room and separate bedroom. The sofa was worn and looks like a dog chewed on a corner... the bed was comfortable, but on the 2nd bed sheet, found pieces of long hair... not sure if it was the housekeepers or prior customers, but they need to pay more attention to that. The bathtub/shower combo needs some work. Found few four legged friends in the bathroom... not a good sign. On the night I was staying, one of the guests was cooking and set off the fire alarm, the city sent 4 engines and one support vehicle... there was no fire and it was resolved within 30 minutes... but me and all other guests were poking our head out the door trying to figure out if it was legit or not... a broadcasting system would been helpful, but it is what it is. I'll give it to the staff members, they were dealing with the issue as professionally as they could, given that some of the things were outside of their control.

This is not the place. When we check into the hotel, the lobby was filled with people drinking beers and being extremely loud. Others were standing outside smoking and drinking. It was loud everywhere. Once we got to the room, it was smaller than expected based on the pictures online. As we looked around the room, it felt like it was never cleaned properly and things do not get replaced after checkout. The toilet paper roll was basically empty, there was one next to it but it strange to see that it is acceptable like that. The dishwashing liquid container was 3/4 empty. We had to wash our dishes/utensils by hand since the dishwasher didn't work. We turned it on twice and both times it ran but the detergent never was released so it was washing with water only. There were dead bugs on the window sills and the bedsheets were dirty. Do not recommend.
