I want to express my thanks to the evening staff at the Comfort Inn- Syracuse NY Fairgrounds on 5/11/24. I was traveling with my sister, brother in law and their family as my nephew graduated from SU that day. My brother in law booked 3 rooms through Booking.Com and unfortunately there was a mix up and although his card was charged and had a confirmation number, there was no reservation when we got to the hotel. The manager and staff were so accommodating and were persistent in getting to the bottom of our issue. I was in the lobby but heard the manager ( I believe) calling Booking.Com to clear up the matter. Other staff came out to check on us while we waited and offered us water and snacks. It could have turned out badly for us but they got to the bottom of it. I wanted to express my appreciation and hope they can be recognized. The rooms were comfortable and clean. One of the nicest breakfasts I have ever had. Thank you again from a recent traveler! read more

The rooms are kinda run down, front desk lady is kinda mean and insensitive. Cable is not working. Hot water gets luke warm at best. Cleaners are still cleaning at 4 pm. Needs a rehab. read more

In a small town. A no frills place. Honestly this place is in dire need of an update. We only came here a few days ago because the snow started coming down hard in Syracuse and we knew we wouldn't make it to buffalo in our rental car. The beds are your typical standard comfort inn beds and pillows. The rooms are set up motel style. big rooms though. And it was clean. Standard mini fridge and microwave in room. I am taking off 2 stars because the front desk staff could be better (the old lady who works evenings smh) and the cleaning lady came knocking on my door 2 hours prior to check out and when I started running to the door to go answer it, she started keying in already!! Even though we told them not to disturb us. When I asked her, "isn't check out at 11?!" She goes "yes it is, but I thought you left and no one was in the room cause there's no cars in the parking lot". Like what? Our car WAS there, well within visibility. And she woke us up so rudely from our sleep and I get migraines from triggers easily. Just Unacceptable! Felt so rushed to leave there! read more

We stayed here for two nights during labor day weekend as we were visiting the state fair. I booked months in advance and had a pretty decent rate, better than the Best Western which is closer to the fairgrounds. This Comfort Inn looks like it had a mini makeover recently as the carpeting and bedroom furniture looked clean and new. Our king room (#224) had a comfortable bed, 5 pillows, crisp and nice smelling sheets and even a lazy boy type recliner in the corner. The recliner looked a bit dated as it was a velvety unappealing greenish brown color, but was surprisingly comfy and well kept. Perfect to relax and watch tv or read. Our tv also had the most channels available I've seen in a while- the cable package is better than at my house! All your local channels with great extras like AMC, Food Network, MTV, Discovery, Travel, OWN, etc.. The wifi was also strong and fast, no annoying passwords or screens to sign into. It always connected right away. The only downfall of our room was the tiny bathroom. Although the counter and bath got a makeover, I suppose they weren't able to extend the area as you can barely open or close the door when you walk in. The door hits the front of the toilet and the tub. The showerhead also had very little water pressure but I know this is commonplace in many hotels due to water saving flow restrictors. I was very happy about the free breakfast, the choices were extensive and delicious. There's your basic pastries, bread, english muffins, bagels and donuts but also a do it yourself waffle station (original and cinnamon flavor). There are fruits, cereals, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs as well as hot scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon depending on the day, and delicious Oikos greek yogurts or fat-free yogurts. Juices, milk, coffee too of course. You really can't go wrong and if you want to grab anything to go, some of the pastries are individually wrapped so you can definitely save snacks for later. In terms of service, I wish the staff was a little friendlier. Upon check in or check out I never really got a smile although the employee was polite and the process was hassle free. At one point during breakfast someone dropped a bunch of dry cereal on the floor and I saw two employees walk back and forth but they never came to sweep up the mess and everyone kept walking over it. I think that's the big difference from staying at a small place like Comfort Inn versus more lavish accommodations, the service is lacking. Saying good mornings or have a nice day whenever people walk in and out would have made the difference. Overall no frills no problem, I would recommend it for a basic stay. read more

I'm pretty sure this hotel has gone through several incarnations and had some recent upgrades. I'm told more are on their way. I like what they've accomplished so far. For the rest of the quirks and to-do's, this is a hotel being managed as well as it can (and that's pretty well) by a good staff. This is the first Comfort Inn I have visited since I learned they would be FINALLY getting rid of those awful square, ridiculously soft, square bed pillows which has gone back to standard-sized pillows - and you have a variety of soft and firm ones on the bed. The bed, by the way, was quite comfortable. I slept well. On the minus side, this hotel does not have a pool or a restaurant. There is a building formerly known as a restaurant across the parking lot. The exercise room has about 4 pieces of equipment and is a decent size for that much equipment. The nautilus was accompanied by very useful instructions for workouts. Wi-Fi is free and generally good here. The breakfast area, which I assume was given a makeover, is quite nice. Besides standard breakfast tables it includes several bistro tables, a sofa facing a large TV, and another set of stools on which you can sit comfortably while using a laptop or tablet. The breakfast is extensive, with two types of waffles available, a hot meat (usually either sausage patties or bacon), something known as "egg patties," a juice machine, cereal, a refrigerator with yogurt and hard-boiled eggs, an danish. This hotel is very convenient to the fairgrounds, but about 8-10 minutes from downtown Syracuse via I-690. If that is not an issue, you may find this to be an enjoyable place to stay. read more

Charged 226 for one night! Unfortunately only hotel available that night. Room smelled, ceiling needed painting, took shower in morning, flooded the bathroom because shower head spraying all over the place had to wrap towel around it to slow the floor. Breakfast awful. Room was not clean. Would not stay again. I recommend staying at tru by hilton cheaper and wonderful customer service. read more

My husband and I made a quick trip up to Syracuse last minute for the Elton John concert. Hotels we're all booked up so we ended up here. I don't tend to stay in hotels rated less than 4 stars,but we had no choice. This hotel is old and in need on repairs. Ceilings have water damage in hallway and rooms. Cleanliness of room is par. The rooms were hot as air conditioner was left off. The rooms have a musty smoky smell. I sprayed tons of Lysol and that but still couldn't get rid of it. Desk staff was very nice and location is quiet and close to interstate. But sadly this place is not a place I'd return to. read more

After a long day at the NYS fair my family and I were just looking for a comfy clean spot to rest before we rode back home. Unfortunately we were booked a smoking room, which I didn't realize they even still had in NYS. The smell was awful!!! I just hope it didn't transfer to our clothes!!! There also seemed to be some type if construction happening which was very loud. To top it all off the hotel is quite literally just off the thru way, so I heard cars and trucks driving by all morning and night. Overall, the beds were comfy, the room was clean although it didn't smell so clean, and it was conveniently located next to the fair grounds. If I venture to Syracuse for the fair again next year I will definitely consider this hotel! read more

This hotel is fine for what it is: an inexpensive place to sleep. To be honest, as you pull up, your first impression is not going to be good. First of all, there is no road sign to identify the hotel, so unless you're using GPS, you're probably going to miss the turn. (Note to hotel owner: get a sign out there!) Secondly, situated between highways, facing the abandoned restaurant across the parking lot, the property appears bare and perhaps neglected. However, once inside, it's thankfully much like any other Comfort Inn. The lobby greets you with a mix of dated décor and boilerplate corporate design elements. The staff is generally friendly and nice. The room was average: clean and well-kept, but with minimal embellishments. Ours had a tiny fridge---a nice bonus. The bathroom was small and cramped, which was no surprise for this price range. The bed was very comfortable. A little more on the firm side than soft, in my opinion. This hotel is one of those that has a selection of either soft or firm pillows. They're not those tiny square ones (thankfully), but still smaller than your pillows at home. Here's a tip-- ask for a room that doesn't face the highway. We had a south-facing room, and I was awakened throughout the night by the sound of engine brakes. All-in-all, if you're looking for a cheap place to stay that's better than a motel, and you're not expecting four- or five-star treatment, this hotel is a decent choice. read more

This place gets a very solid four stars. We were going back home for a memorial and needed a reasonable place to lay our heads, and we chose this location due to its location. We arrived late, and the staff was very kind and even brought up a cot on request. The rooms were decently sized and provided ample quiet, hot water and water pressure. The pillows were a bit lumpy, but I am picky. The rest of the team we encountered was very nice. The breakfast in the morning was nice with the family, as it saved the hassle of running out the door, and a few bucks on going to a diner. The hotel was pretty slow when we stayed, but it was nice. Honestly staff try their best, old time Hotel looks to be your last choice when you need a hotel by the fairgrounds. This hotel does not have good security. The outside door did not lock and did not require a badge to enter. The rooms are noisy. The breakfast food was old and cold. The hotel has a ton of deferred maintenance. The customer service of the hotel employees leave a lot to be desired. Getting a good night's sleep is hard. The hotel is outdated. The WiFi service is awful along with the cheap version of the TV service. I did not book a first floor room, but was given a 1st floor room. read more

Great for a night's stopover. The room and common areas were well-maintained. The temperature of the room was easy to control without a noisy radiator. The beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was as good as these breakfasts can be. Best of all, the price was right. We'll remember this one. read more

In town for a event for the weekend booked this hotel because they advertised free WiFi . In the evenings I had some work to do, I went to get online I got a not connected signal. Called the front desk and got the rudest person named Courtney to deal with when I asked her if the WiFi was down she said she had internet on her phone and if I wanted WiFi I had to go to the lobby. The staff at this hotel is very rude and unhelpful the website advertising free WiFi is misleading as the old saying goes buyer beware also the number in the guest service book to call for WiFi service when you call it it automatically hangs up read more

Sam checked us in and she was super friendly and helpful. Being from Texas and knowing nothing about the area she gave us a list of restaurants and directions to get to them. The hotel is located next to the freeway but wasn't really an issue. Bed was comfortable and hallways quiet. Breakfast was the usual waffle, eggs, toast, etc. Price was excellent!! read more

Driving up to the Comfort Inn with half it's sign unlit, and parking lot empty, I didn't exactly have high hopes. But going inside, I realized we were mistaken. The place was well kept and nice. We had a very commendable room, not amazing, I wouldn't expect a Saudi Sheikh to be here, but it was quite nice. The beds were perfect, soft a clean, plenty of pillows (a must for me) and it was quiet. There were no smells nor stains to be watchful of. The staff were very friendly, we had our dog with us and she was very welcome, even though she came with a deposit, something I completely understand. They had plenty of stations on TV and the breakfast did it's job. For the price, I feel like we got a bargain. I would stay here again. read more

This is a first for me. I've never been so disgusted with a room that I had to ask to switch. First room, bed sheets and pillow cases were covered in dog hair and pillow cases looked like they had dirt on them and hadn't been washed. When I went to the front desk I was switched to a different room and told "there was a dog show in town last weekend so we had some dogs here". The second room had clean sheets!! But bathtub had mold along the edges and the water barely got warm, pretty disappointing for a whirlpool tub! With the number of hotels in the area I won't be rushing back to this one. read more

I am so disgusted by the positive reviews for this hotel. We stayed there Aug. 10 on our way to another location and could not get out of there fast enough. There were obvious stains on the comforter, the window to outside was cracked from top to bottom, and the entire hotel smelled like wet dog. The bathroom had a curly hair on the shower wall and the steam from the shower showed an old, and very clear, message on the mirror, just to confirm the place had not been cleaned. Courtney, the night staff, was kind enough to discount my room, but when we asked Jody, the morning staff, to pass compliments to the manager about Courtney, she blew us off with, "I'm sure they know." We immediately cancelled our return home stay and booked at a nearby Holiday Inn. Cleaner, friendlier, had a pool and a MUCH better continental breakfast... And was cheaper than our discounted rate at the Comfort Inn. DO NOT STAY HERE! read more

Very unhappy with our stay there last night. We travel a lot for paintball events, as we were doing this weekend. This one has made it to our top "never stay at again" list. The hotel was very empty and they stuck us on the 4th floor. Our door looked like it was kicked in and then just drilled back together. Didn't even need a room key to get in, just jiggle the door handle a few times and it opened. Upon walking in the room we found pills on the floor, guess they never vacuumed. Open our ice bucket to find a spoon, hair, and the bottom filled with water!! Gross :( then when I went to turn down the sheets, more pills in my bed!!! Seriously?!?! Was our room never even cleaned?? Brought all of our issues to the front desks attention, all I got was an "oh sorry, guess I will be leaving many notes for house keeping" really!! I would advise you to think twice about staying here, I know we will never ever again!! read more
